Open right now during covid only for orders that you make an advance. You can order starting on Tuesday and your pick up is on Sundays between 10 a.m. and 1 pm. There is no walk-in service at the moment. The bagels and the salmon and the cream cheese and all of the toppings are really delicious! An easy to make at home! Or in a park for a picnic!

Excellent food but poor treatment by employees and Windex on my food. If felt like they didn't want us there. We entered the restaurant and made our order. We sat at the front table by the window to be in the sunlight. The door was open a d a cold draft was coming in so we closed it as we were sitting right.next to the door. We started to eat and the lady came and opened up the door wide and we asked her to please leave it while we eat and she said it was too hot back there. We looked back in the restaurant to see everyone who was eating were wearing their sweaters and scarves and were clearly not hot. It was clear that the two employees were keeping it open for themselves and were not open to compromising with us. We ate our food in the cold winter draft with my coat on my legs. Midway through my meal I could t feel my feet and we kindly asked if we could close the door while we finished our meal. By this point we were the last customers and the two employees reluctantly said "okay". We were close to finishing out meals and the one employee starts to Windex the door right next to us! Yeah.... We got Windex all over our food. It was gross and I had to be firm with her and tell her to stop. We were so turned off, so unimpressed that we just left our food there and walked out. Bummer because the food was exceptional but those two girls were so rude and careless. It was evident they wanted to close up and kick us out. Yikes! ********In response to what was written to me by staff: I would like to say that as customers we have a right to choose where we sit in the restaurant. I shouldnt have to explain why we chose that particular spot but we did sit there to be in the sun, in fact, that is why we chose to try out that restaurant because of its sun facing windows. If a customer is uncomfortable the least that can be done is having an open conversation and perhaps even some compromise. Windex in the air, in our noses, and near our food, hardly constitutes more than one star. we were the only guests in the restaurant and we were very close to finishing out meals. The employer could have started cleaning elsewhere in the space. My rating is such because of the overall attitude and vibe we received by the two employees throughout our experience. We were kind, polite, we explained our needs. You neglected to communicate honestly and openly with us or even compromise. Its about social graces and making the atmosphere feel safe and welcoming. I apologies for my poor choice of words in addressing gender types. But you might want to consider why someone would leave such a specific review and take that much time out of their day to do so, before you start correcting them on gender pronouns.

Everything is divine -- and I mean *everything.* There is not a single item on the menu with which you can go wrong, but my personal favourites are the tuna salad, chopped egg salad, and lemon + pepper lox. Lev has built a truly incredible business, and I cannot recommend it enough!

Sandwich as a whole was great, but I regret not getting the "OG", bit too much going on to really taste the lox. Cream cheese and capers were particularly good, and stood out for me. Service was quick and the prices are very fair considering the quality of the product. Will be back.

This is seriously the best salmon I have ever had!!!! (Don't tell my grandmother). It's tastes unbelievably fresh and you can tell that it's prepared with such care and attention to detail. If I could I would eat it every day. Even though the lox is clearly the star of the show let's not forget to appreciate the scallion cream cheese!! Without it my life would be significantly worse. Here's my personal advice on how best to enjoy this place: Order for Sunday pick up, get a pack of bagels of your choice (they're all good), a pack of the original house smoked lox, some scallion cream cheese, and a can of cold brew or a pack of coffee beans. Just like that you have the perfect mid-Sunday feast. If you're feeling spicy get the pickled jalapenos as well they're really good! I don't think you could actually go wrong with any item on the menu.

Small family run restaurant in the vibrant northclifge village. They have beat salmon bagel in the town. Very fresh, soft and juicy salmon. Street is perfect, great interior and seating facilities. Street car access just a minute away. Staffs are super friendly. Highly recommended for small and cute place.

I had their egg salad on a pumpernickel bagel and their split pea soup. The bagel sandwich was delicious. Their homemade pickled onions and fresh dill really set this apart from other egg salad experiences. Their soup was very good, but just a little too salty for my tastes. The service was very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is casual and spacious. They have many of their speciality items available for sale to take home. I'll look forward to coming back.

The best smoked fish I have ever had, hands down. Like butter! I order their food by the boatload. I pile through the tuna salad, and I have yet to encounter a smoked fish of theirs that I didn’t like. The pickles are addictive. Every item on the menu is curated with care. That the proprietor is always kind and engaging when they respond to my orders. I live far away from their location and so I bribe family members to do pickups. Simply divine. You have to try it!!!

Since our first visit to Lox + Schmear, my family has been back at least once a week. The bagels are piled with fresh veggies and very good lox, the coffee is great (Propeller), and the service is friendly. We can always get a table and there is lots of space for strollers or squirmy toddlers making it a great option for families with young kids. Wonderful addition to the neighbourhood.

OMG.... Just OMG!!! WOW. Lez and her staff are awesome. It's quite a large space, with 7 very large tables and 2 cafe tables in front, and very comfortable! I had the Fancy Fancy Crunchy on a toasted sesame bagel. OMG!! So absolutely fantastic! Just spectacular! And definitely get the "crunchy", they add dill pickle chips! Now they don't use tomatoes in the winter, because they taste like cardboard! But you don't miss them at all! And they have smoked salmon prepacks to take home too. The smoked salmon is to die for. It's done in house. That's the big difference. I dislike commercial smoked salmon; I find all you taste is a ton of smoke and nothing else. Not here! The smoked salmon is so fantastic! The sandwiches are not cheap. But, as the saying goes, you (definitely) get what you pay for at Lox & Schmear!!! Parking is a nightmare, so go during the week if you can. And remember that Tuesday they're closed!

Your life won’t be complete without Lox and Schmear. I am never without several packs of their smoked salmon, smoked trout, and pickled onions and capers. Their smoked trout salad is my favourite afternoon snack, and their freshly baked babkas are mind blowing. It’s obvious how much love and care goes into their food. Lox and Schmear will allow you to step up your brunch game, and will bring so much joy into your life. Also, Lev is a wonderful human. So it’s a win win!

When we came on weekend around 2 weeks ago at 2pm, they were closed due to sold out. I was very disappointed, but today we came back at 1:30, and ordered 2 fancy fancy bagles. They were amazing! I do highly recommend it! The only thing as they tasted a bit differently, just a slight difference. We'll be back for sure, please do not change anything in those bagels!

I came here today with my husband and was completely blown away by our experience. I got the O.G. and was able to substitute the red onions with pickled red onions which was a complete game changer. But the whole ensemble itself was just magical: the creamy and smooth cream cheese, perfectly cooked bagel, fresh dill and you can’t forget the impeccable smoked salmon or lox as they call it. Great price for a great meal. We will definitely be coming here again!

Hands down the best smoked salmon in the city. (I've tried "the rest".) It's well-cured; nicely, lightly smoked; and perfectly sliced...you will never eat a bad piece. There's no bloodline, none of that grey fat, nothing except the stuff you want. I eat it straight out of the package, over the sink. It's good on bagels with some of their homemade horseradish cream cheese, too. And if you don't really like smoked salmon, that's fine: their pickles, soups, salads and baked goods are all A+,.

Two years ago I was in Toronto doing and international study program for two months. I am originally from Seattle, Washington so it is a long way from home. While away, my dad passed very suddenly. The first thing I ate after I got the news was a sesame seed bagel with tuna salad.It was the best thing I had ever tasted. I know this sounds super dramatic, but it really was that good. I have thought about that bagel a lot in the past two years and no bagel I have tried has even come close. Trust me, you will love it.

This has been my absolute favourite place to eat in Toronto for years, but especially during lockdown - picking up my order is always the highlight of my week! The owner Lev is the best, always super friendly, and I really respect how they have pivoted during covid to a safer online order and distanced pick up system. I was first introduced to the wonderful food at this place by my daughter, as I live in Mississauga, and it has since been my favourite treat! My favourites are the egg salad, tuna salad and smoked trout salad, I particularly love the red pickled onions. Everything is very flavourful yet light, and consistantly amazing to the last bite! I highly reccomend that you make Lox and Schmear your next destination, it will surely become your favourite too. Thank you for elevating the salad sandwich experince!

Nice and tasty bagel sandwiches. Shame I was told that they couldn't substitute mayonnaise for cream cheese as they didn't have any. As I sat down to eat my second choice I saw 2 large tubs of mayonnaise! Lost a couple of stars for lying! It's also a bit on the pricey side for portion sizes.

One of my favourite spots in St Clair W. Food is delicious, prices are very reasonable but the best part is the service. This place is fantastic. The bagels are so good and there are different options to suit your mood or cater to dietary restrictions (they have things like vegan cream cheese and gluten-free bagels). They also offer various kinds of cream cheese, amazing toppings (made in-house), egg salad, tuna salad, chickpea salad and, of course, the best lox you'll ever eat. To top it off, they have great treats, including some really particular things that I love like the black and white cookies from New York and Cott black cherry soda. I highly recommend!

Love this place so much. It’s got a great exclusive neighbourhood vibe while offering fantastic food. Choice of bagel, lox or pastrami lox, choice of cream cheese and lots of toppings. Everyone has an opinion about the ultimate order... There is something called the Lev bagel (after the owner) that my partner is devoted to, but I prefer the OG with pastrami lox. I have been twice and both times were exceptional. Today I did a pick up order of the knish. I must say that they are out of this world. I highly recommend you go and eat some of this delicious food. There's a special kind of taste you expect with a bagel. You want the bread to be fresh and good, the cream cheese to ooze out from the sides and the lox to be smokey and delicious. That's what Lox + Schmear is. Taking a bite out of a bagel loaded with lox, cream cheese, tomato, cucumber, pickled red onions, and dill was taking a bite out of heaven. Before I knew it, the bagel was gone, and I debated with myself if I should get another. It benefits greatly that the bagels are from St. Urbain, one of the premier bagel stops in the St. Lawrence Market, so you know the bagel is top quality. With a menu that's quite simple, it goes to show that they focus on a select few things that they do well. And, clearly, they do it very very well.
