One of my favourate places to eat in Victoria! Coming from Montreal, where Ethiopian restaurants can charge 30 $ a head, this little place is a haven for me. Get the vegetarian combo! What a deal :-) I love Messob.

A great little spot in Victoria to grab a quick delicious Ethiopian meal. I'm a pretty huge fan of injera so it was good to find a place so close to downtown. Their options are all pretty good with nice sized portions. A good place for vegetarians and committed carnivores.

Fantastic and delicious tasting Ethiopian food right in Victoria. Could be a little spicier for me, but I enjoy the heat. This place has wonderful flavours, tasty vegetarian options and super friendly service. Get out of your Friday sushi funk and get some Ethiopian cuisine. You won't be disappointed.

The food is great. It is tasty and portions satisfying. The combination plates are perfect if you want to try out various Ethiopean flavours. The seating and decor is really informal. I would recommend Messob. It is a perrenial favourite of mine.

I believe my review is best summarized in the photo below. I've been craving Ethiopian food for months now and finally had an opportunity to come down to Victoria. Worth the walk from the hotel. The joint had a lot more seating than I guessed from the photos and a lot of it was very pleasant outdoor patio seating. Wish I could pack up the whole restaurant and take it home with me.

Love the flavours here. You can go 100% veggie or opt for a spicy beef combo. Great place for lunch on a nice day when you can sit out side on their back patio. The portions are generous and everything is made in house.

I'm a white guy who's never had Ethiopian food before trying this place. That being said, I love it. Been eating here every now and then for the last 4 years. It's someplace I bring visitors to. By far the best food in the food court. Not fancy by any stretch... it's a take-out stand where the "for here" option gets you a paper plate and a plastic fork... but for $9 it's good value. Lastly, in the warm weather, the outside courtyard is a fantastic place to eat and chill out.

This place is located in a building that contains order restaurants like a did court. There are some tables they're but not a lot. Good place to come for a meal. Ordered the Spicy Beef Combo. Pricing is ok, be better if a drink came with the combo.

Please try their Spicy Chicken dish which is served on weekends. The food is served with injera - a kind of bread which is gluten free and goes well with the curries that they serve. The food felt so homely and never gave me the feeling that I was eating in a restaurant. I would highly recommend this place if you want to try something new.

This restaurant was on our radar before we left for our vacation and we are delighted! We both had the meat combo and the proprietor, Yenu (?) was very gracious. The meat is seasoned with berbere spice blend, ubiquitous in Ethiopian cuisine and truly addictive. The combination plate is a filling complete meal and for just CA$11.25 is a great bargain.

Go on Saturday and get the chicken! It's incredible. Prices are also crazy low for how much you get. One thing to note, they don't always have the chicken available on Saturday so call first if it's really important.

Simple, healthy and delicious. Order at the counter, eat outside or in. Vegetarian combo is fabulous. Ethiopian food at its best, although toned down in spiciness in deference to the typical Canadian pallet. I only wish they could serve honey wine "tej." Injira is excellent and serious.

Had such a good platter here a couple weeks ago. Their injera recipe is SO GOOD and the best I've had in Canada. Highly recommend this place to any vegan or vegetarian, but my partner liked the he meat got with his too. :) we were both very full!

They had a buffet, which is nice, and open seating, but the food itself lacked the same flavor and spices as most of the Ethiopian food I've had elsewhere. Still, it deserves a decent rating as it's the only place actually in Victoria for Ethiopian food.

We did not expect to find Ethiopian cuisine I. Cook street village. Though the building was unassuming, the eatery is in the back, past the Mexican eatery. I had the vegetarian platter and it was delicious! I loved the red lentil dish, and the spinach was awesome too. The woman serving the food was super nice, and were were able to grab a table outside and eat in peace. Great place, and so inexpensive!

Excellent, couldn't be any better. Affordable price, reasonable portions finally it's delicious. I ordered the spicy combo. Question time to the owner on if they open on Sat? Answered yes but closed on Sunday. Also closed on statutory holidays. Mon to Sat opens at noon.

I went here earlier today hoping to have dinner. I was disappointed to find the established closed at 6:30pm despite their website stating they were open until 7:30pm. I can only hope the management will provide more accurate information on their website in the future but in the meantime, I would advice any future guests to arrive extra early.

Great find - its hard to notice from the street because its houses in a small multi-restaurant market that from quick looks, appears as a mexican restaurant... but walk in and theres a small handfull of other restaurants including the quick, tasty, budget-friendly Messob. Large portions on injari bread (made with barley instead of the traditional tef) and a great shared outside plaza to sit outside and enjoy the food. Friendly staff who seem to cook with a magical ingredient - love!

The food is really good and you get a huge portion. There is a nice seating area in the back as well. The only down side is its a bit on the slow side (I have been twice, I recommend calling ahead as the last time I went I had a 30 min wait at the counter), and they are using styrofoam packaging.

Went to Messob Ethiopian Cuisine for dinner. It was good, definitely not the best Ethiopian we have had. Glad we tried it but probably not a place we would frequent. I ordered the vegetarian combo. The injira was ok, not the tangy sourdough like we are use to. The spinach was watery and bland. The rest of the dishes we good but again not spectacular. If you’ve never had Ethiopian or can’t handle spicy this would be a good place to try out.
