My family and I went there yesterday, the owner was very friendly, the food was AMAZING, every item we picked was so tasty and well prepared. Homemade meets gourmet!!! Very nice place for a quick breakfast or lunch. Will definitely stop at Chunky whenever we visit Victoria!

Amazing food, decent prices, and the chef is a great guy. His mashed potatoes are a 10/10. My current favourite dishes from here: Bangers and Mash, Chicken Alfredo, Etouffee, and Jambalaya.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. I ordered the jerk chicken and hubby ordered vegan shepherd's pie and cream of vegetable soup. The chicken was tender and amazingly spiced, the soups were simply delicious and hubby enjoyed his shepherd's pie !!! What was really special was the owner going out of his way to accomodate our low carb diet requirement by replacing rice with vegetables and adding plant based meat in the pie - at no cost! But wait, that's not all. I had originally placed the order through Uber Eats and when the order was not delivered for nearly an hour after the scheduled time, I called the cafe and the owner confirmed my order had been ready all the while. It was the Uber driver who had not picked it up. So, I cancelled my order with Uber to pick it up personally from the restaurant. Imagine my surprise - the owner would not taking payment for a $50+ bill insisting our meal was on the house - for what was not even his fault, despite my insistence. We are so impressed by the generosity and customer service offered which is so rare. The menu and food in themselves are so good, they make this place a gem. But the owner's values truly make this place remarkable. Check it out. You won't be disappointed!

The donair and fillings were the stars, but the wrap itself was mucho delissioso and even the bigger star! Never knew that was possible. If you haven’t checked it out, you should! Very glad my husband found this place , everything and yes, everything is made fresh and as my friend (the owner) said, « all good food takes time. » We truly enjoy the food (jerk chicken, ratatouille, Cajun chicken, jambalaya, breakfast sandwich, wrap, etc), yes, we went back and back for the few days we were in Victoria. Also, our friend gave us desserts and homemade granola and fruit salad on the house. My friend said, «it is better than paying for advertisement. » Enjoyed chatting with our friend, chatting about life, parenting, positive attitude, working hard, and his parents (we both got a lot of advice from my friend’s dad). Glad to have made a friend. As I told my friend, I will definitely tell my friends about Chunky Kitchen and if I go back to Victoria, he knows I will go for a meal. And a visit!! Enjoy today my friend and thank you for feeding us well!! (BTW, I am not the kind who write reviews often unless it is pretty special, over and above).

The jambalaya is, by far, the best I've ever sat down for. The rice is fantastically seasoned, the meats are perfectly cooked, and it is just a wonderful favour combination. 100% I am coming here again. And probably again after that.

Interesting vegan options like shephard's pie and gumbo. I've tried both and they're pretty good. If you're a grilled cheese lover they have one for only $5... which is thick with cheese. Other restaurants usually charge like $15 but include a side.

This is a real hidden gem in Victoria and one of my new favorite places. I am still feeling so good from the hearty vegan sheppards pie and the amazing customer service I enjoyed today. The owner here must have a passion for what he does, you can taste it in the food and feel it as soon as you walk in. I'm so happy he has this vegan option. Thank you Chunky's! Was taking some friends from the mainland to check out Fantan Alley and happened to stumbled across this place. Just looking for a quick, easy bite to walk around with, got the tuna sandwich and it was one of the simplest yet best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this place, service was amazing.

As a chef, I enjoy trying new places and looked forward to trying Chunky Kitchen Catering's menu. Also as a chef, I rarely feel compelled to provide a negative review to a fellow food industry colleague - after all, people have bad days or put out a less than perfect dish occasionally. This was not that and my enthusiasm to try their fare did not last long. I ordered a simple plate of spaghetti with meat balls, a meat pie and some other items. Not a tough order - a well understood conmfort food that is done extremely well by even junior chefs. Well - It was as if this restaurant had only ever experienced Spaghetti and meatballs in photographs. The noodles, doughy and breaking into inch long strands when I finally got my order, were completely coated in some kind of oily red vaguely curry-in-flavor sauce that also had an odd unpleasant spiciness to it. Understand - every noodle was totally coated - as though it had all been poured out of a plastic bag. Not only did it not taste good - but It tasted NOTHING like any form of recognized spaghetti sauce available - not a Bolognese, not even a sauce from a can! I can only assume that the person who made this has never eaten a plate of spaghetti before. Degusted with the mushy, burning-oily-flavor my first bite delivered I threw that in the garbage... I was left with a meat pie - something listed as one of their most popular items. It was made from frozen 100%. The meat was bland and unsavory and the carrot junks unpleasantly sweet. The machine pressed pizza-pocket like "pie" part was salty and overly thick - the way it would be if horrible businessmen from finance had come through the kitchen and rewrote the recipes in order to "cut costs and maximize profits". Tossed after a bite. It is my opinion that every other review this "restaurant" has is either a "friend" of the owner or bought in some way. There is no way that I'm the first person to literally SPIT the food they serve back onto the plate in shock. Caveat - if this kitchen is run and staffed by 7 years old's learning how to cook for the first time - then the food makes sense. What I suspect is that the kitchen is in fact staffed by people who have lied on their resumes about previous cooking experience. Or...OR...a delusional owner that believes that they're a chef and who is surrounded by "friends" who are too kind or too afraid to tell the truth. And what is that truth? That this place makes terrible food that isn't worth even 25% of the price being charged. I think they know this and I suspect by the quality of the slop they slapped onto my plate that they don't care. I only wish there was an option for ZERO stars.
