This is a great place to meet up with family & friends to enjoy a good meal. I really like the split level design of the restaurant. The food is great and the customer service is great too. Great location to bring a group of friends as there is a motel next door for your convenience. Perfect for skiers who are at Mt. Washington Alpine ski resort, can start the day with a good breakfast.

This is a breakfast/lunch Restaurant. Good food. However, their Thursday Night Roast Beef Buffet is bland at best and over priced by at least $6. The Roast is always over cooked. Their meat gravy is horrible. Yorkshire pudding is rubbery. Good Customer service. Wouldn't spend my money except it's my Grandma's favorite place. I mean what are you gonna do? She's 80. She gets what She wants.

Got a spinach and goat cheese burger and it was obviously a store bought patty. Pretty disappointed that a restaurant can't even make burger patties in house. Goat cheese was sparse and the spinach was not fresh, but was cooked and soggy. Service was good though and the helping of fries was pretty generous.

Finally made it to Plates in Courtenay BC since we moved to the great Island in October 2019.....(visit on Sunday December 27-2020) All Covid precautions in place upon arrival ...and even took your name and phone number...presuming if there is an issue with Covid following your visit. Great breakfast menu selection ....good prices. Excellent staff.....quick service! Will definitely drive from Errington and go back again for sure!!

Disgusting food and terrible service. It took 15 minutes to get a milkshake that we had to remind them to make. My burger had the most disgusting texture and taste that I've ever had. I did not eat it. The onion rings had hardly any onion in them and we're just batter. Absolute waste of money. Can't believe we didn't go to Cornerstone. I will never eat here again. The server did not bring me a side sauce that I requested. I went up to remind them and ask for my partner's soup that he asked to sub for his fri since they messed that up too. The server treated us as if it was our fault and said that we had asked for it additionally. When I told the server my burger was really gross the server told me that usually they're really good. It took an awful lot to get an apology out of them. And each time I walk past someone they ran past me quickly instead of allowing me the space to walk where I was already walking. I'm not sure where these people learned customer service but it was of poor quality.

My family and I go here every time we are in Courtenay around breakfast time. We live further south and drive up for Costco runs and Plates is a staple in our routine. Their food and wait staff are always great and with two young boys who love cars, the ambiance of being surrounded by license plates from all over the world, and other car related decor puts this place over the top and firmly in the “memorable” category.

How do I begin. I went to plates to get take out and every part was amazing, the staff inside were friendly and happy, the atmosphere was amazing and pricers were 10/10. So right off the bat amazing experience which you don't often find when just grabbing take-out, but let me tell you plates knows how to do it. Now lets get to the meal, I had the Mexican skillet (my all time fav) and once again A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! Every single bite was delectable, from the perfectly poached eggs to the tater tots that give you that perfect crispy bite, you can bet your bottom dollar I finished every last bite. If you want the experience of going to a friends house for breakfast at 7pm plates is the place to go. you will not be disappointed if you stop by, this is a well run ship and I'm glad I stopped by. Keep up the great work. 10/10 experience

So I landed up having to miss a day of skiing at Mt Washington, so I Googled best breakfast in Courteney BC, Plates Eatery came up. Never been to Courteney ever so it was a bit hard to see cause the sign is small, but when we found it.. we were impressed at how they have license plates EVERYWHERE from everywhere. There are old gas station pumps, and other cool items that you'll have to go check out! We had an amazing waitress, don't remember her name but she told us all about Courteney, gave my partner and I a brochure, topped up our coffee, casually spoke with us and made us feel at home. Not only was there really friendly service, their food was delicious. Had the Mexi Benny with hot sauce n salsa sour cream... at a great price too! If we're ever in Courteney for breakfast again I will sure be returning :)

Very clean and tidy, and a lot of fun inside, with all the old automobile paraphernalia. FABULOUS breakfast menu!! Okay service, (we had to ask for more coffee, which we VERY much enjoyed, which is why we wanted another cup!) My husband had the corned beef hash, he said it was good, and he was happy with the portion size. I had the Plates Breakfast; the eggs were cooked as I wished, good sausage and hashbrowns, but just . . . good, not exceptional, which is why I rated them a 4 star.

Took my son there ordered some burgers and fries. Burgers were gross buns look deep fried small beef patties and little portion of fries for 15 bucks. We were both still hungry when we left. It was also freezing cold in the restaurant had to wear my winter coat the whole time. Not what I expect for a $35 meal.

Today was our first time at Plates. We were greeted warmly on entry at the foyer. The license plate decor catches your eye and is really fun. We were there for breakfast and enjoyed The Plates Breakfast (2 eggs, protein choixe with hash Brown's and toast). Our server mDe us feel right at home. We even were offered and enjoyed a portion of their homemade berry jam. Everything was delicious! We will definitely be making Plates a.regular stop every time we are in Courtenay.

They have a large laminated menu filled with lots of all-day breakfast items and roadhouse type sandwiches and food. Our California wrap and chicken ceasar club were good but the Monte Cristo sandwich was disappointing. Service was friendly but slow at noon on a Saturday so the meal took twice the time it should have with only two people looking after all the table clearing, service and cash. There is an outside patio with a couple of picnic tables beside the street. Inside decor is interesting with the walls covered in license plates from all over the world. Came here for the first time today. Place was very clean and followed Covid policies. Food was excellent. Ordered a standard breakfast (ham, eggs, toast and hash browns) and eggs benedict. It's rare nowadays to get proper baked ham with breakfast and they do it here. That was the best surprise. No sliced processed ham. Good portions and well prepared and not a greasey breakfast. Front end and serving staff were very friendly and efficient. Will definitely be returning.

Don't go here on a Stat holiday. I feel bad for the waitresses, as they were running off their feet unable to check if everything was right they when the order came. My wife got the side of bacon she asked.for with the order after she was done her omlette. The food was great but the service was very poor

Table of 4 and everyones breakfast was overcooked. Overeasy eggs were hard,bacon was crumbly,sausage was cooked in deepfryer. The only thing that wasnt over cooked was the toast,it was warm white bread. Be a long time before returning there if ever.

We were Steve Swing's very first customers back in Apr 2000. Plates Eatery has a great family oriented menu that is consistently top notch, every time we visited during these past 21 years. Their Thursday/Friday evening roast beef and Yorkshire dinner special is super tasty, plentiful and priced very well. I also had the pleasure to avail myself of their catering services for 40 to 100 very hungry veterans and spouses twice a year over a 10 period. The high quality catering menus were always well recieved. To top everything else, the staff at Plates Eatery are second to none.

I had the roast beef buffet tonight and its a awful. The food had no taste. The roast was tough and had no flavour. The potatoes were watery, the vegetables were cold. Even the gravy had no taste. My partner and I went a few times for brunch this week and the server Cassie was outstanding! It was her first week but you never would have known. Recently ate here for the second time after a long break. The chocolate chip pancakes are recommended. The staff seemed a bit stressed, and mask wearing by patrons wasn't great, but the food was as good or better than most other local options in the valley. Plates recently changed their policy and started requiring staff to wear masks (staff did not wear masks up until about a month ago).
