Absolutely recommended. The best Deli in Montreal in my opinion. Pro Tip: Don't get the Smoked meat sandwich, instead get the Smoked Meat platter (you get twice the food for 6$ extra) and I couldn't even finish the whole thing. Brought half of it home. Gonna try the brisket next time. And the people in there are really nice. I'd give them 10/10 just for Ambiance.
Full disclosure, I ate in my car. The latkes and brisket were amazing, even in a takeaway format.
The sandwich was good but small. They have what seems like fresh cut fries, which is always a plus. Overall the food is good but a little overpriced for the portion.
So delicious. Especially the matzo ball soup, the brisket sandwich, liver and eggplant spread. Completely different from Schwartz’s. No lines.
Busy, cosy neighbourhood deli that has friendly experienced servers and a kitchen that pumps out a huge menu efficiently from breakfast through the day. Breakfast served until 11:00 according to the menu, but they are sometimes flexible. Exceptional fries. Home style soups. Some options for vegetarians and gluten intolerant guests. Deli style coleslaw that is better than Moishes!! Pricing is reasonable, and there are lunch combo specials. Bathrooms are clean, past the busy kitchen/serving station. Pay at the cash when leaving.
Great smoked meat and brisket in a diner vibe setting. We ordered for takeout, but they have dine-in until 3pm. Friendly staff that helped me (nonlocal) find the best dish for our tastes
Got the smoked meat poutine and the bagel with lox and cream cheese. So delicious tho the gravy was a bit salty but generally a great meal!
Hands down the best smoked meat in Montreal. The poutine is great, with a very flavourful gravy and a generous helping of cheese curds. A very friendly, attentive and fast service staff. A must stop in Montreal.
Always delicious. They know how to make a smoked meat sandwich.
Outstanding Deli shop, fast and friendly first of all. Secondly its got great fresh food to take home or for lunch. Get some cucumber salad or some karnatzel for a side, But the sandwhiches speak for themselves. Ask them about it too, they offer two different cuts of the brisket both of which are fantastic.
Was looking forward to it but was disappointed with what I got for the price. I got the chicken salad sandwich and I didn't like the texture of the chicken salad, it was like a paté. It was very plain in flavor and the bread wasn't anything special. I guess I was just expecting more for the hype I've heard, or didn't try the right things on the menu. I did like the diner ambiance, outgoing staff and wholesome crowd. The server was also friendly, likeable, and funny.
This rating is an average of two experiences. The first one was 5 star and the second was 1 star. Both times were takeout. The first time everything was fresh and tasted amazing. I couldn't wait to go back when I was Montreal again. The second time we ordered over the phone and the kniches and latkes tasted very stale. Even frying them at home didn't make them taste good. It was sad because we don't live in Montreal but love getting Jewish delicacies whenever we are there. Unfortunately I have to find another deli to get these items now.
Great smoked meats with huge portions if you order the platter instead of a sandwich for a little bit of extra $$$ (if you can't finish it, pack it to go). Staff are very friendly and helpful. Very authentic deli and local diner feel. Came here with a friend after being told it was better than Schwartz and did not regret the trek. No lines/wait in comparison as well. I recommend checking out at the front when there is no one waiting to pay as the process can tend to take a while.
Very accommodating and knowledgeable staff. Would return in a heartbeat
Good deli place for a quick lunch or dinner..very good atmosphere and liked the staff. Very courteous..
Tough to beat, and better than Schwartz imo. Smoked meat and Latkes were the highlights for me.
Friendly, fast service. Smoked meat sandwiches are phenomenal
One of my all time favourite sandwiches is the Snowden Deli stuffed chicken sandwich. They have many tasty dishes on the menu and I recommend it all as I’ve tried it all so I’m in a position to make that recommendation. But I specifically like and I am vouching for the stuffed chicken sandwich. It’s next level lunch right there. I personally do it no mustard because I’m silly that way but you can get it how it comes with some mustard. You won’t be disappointed.
Nice support staff, they described whole items with every ingredients for first timer. I have order smoked meat sandwich and French fries....4 star for tasteless fries, everything else deserves 5 star. Pickle was delicious
Some of the best smoked meat I've tasted in Montreal. Tender, juicy, flavourful yet simple. Very generous with their portions of meat to bread ratio and seasoned to perfection. Staff there were also very friendly.
Best diner/breakfast/brunch spot in Montreal! Portions are generous, I ordered pancakes, they come in a set of 2 with the option to have fruit on the side or inside, I opted to have mine made with blueberries. Then there’s the smoked meat Benny, which is delicious! I also liked the Blintz- which are crepe rolls filled with sweet cheese served with blueberry jam and sour cream. This place is just amazing!
The staff was absolutely lovely. I ordered two sandwiches, one lox and cream cheese bagel, the other smoked meat. I loved their lox bagel and I usually avoid fish. The smoke meat was heavenly, so juicy and perfectly savory. 120% will go back and order.
This place brings back memories - been going since I was little. The smoked meat sandwiches are divine and I always get a few knishes and kabanos to go. Highly recommend!
Great people and the smoked meat there is delicious! Highly recommend their Hamantashen cookie too (stuffed with plums, a nice blend of spices and some orange or citrusy flavour).
Great service and very polite staff! The food is also great!
The smoked meat sandwich at Snowdon is always delicious! It's juicy, super tender, and seasoned perfectly. The staff are friendly and helpful at making suggestions. Prices are very reasonable. I'd rather come here any day to get a smoked meat sandwich instead of some of the other over-hyped joints.
In my opinion, one of the better smoked meat sandwich spots in Montreal. The smoked meat is super flavourful and juicy. The matzoh ball soup is perfect, and a great pairing for the sandwich! They have a special that combines sandwiches and soups and drinks, and it’s pretty affordable. Service is great and you won’t have to wait for ages for a spot, so if you’re looking to venture beyond Schwartz’s, Snowden Deli has you covered. They also take cards which is way better than Schwartz’s at this day and age.
Finally made it here after having thus on my list. Came for breakfast and had their smoked meat poutine with coffee. Pretty good although I found the gravy a hit salty. Service was very friendly and it had such an old school diner vibe I think that is pretty unique in itself.
I ordered half a loaf of bread, a pound of smoked meat, sauerkraut and fries. I called around 10 AM for a 5:45 pickup. 1- My order was ready a minute after I got there. (They did forget the fries but that ended up being a blessing in disguise because my partner and I only got home around 8pm. We got fresh French fries at the restaurant down our street.) 2- The food was of *Great quality*, at a great price which is already enough but on top of that, the staff... every single person I interacted with was kind and pleasant to speak with. I was so touched by my experience there that I wanted to leave a 6$ tip (because I saw they were a big team and 6$ is what I could afford) and they refused! I regretted not forcing them to take it as I walked away and later that night as we ate this delicious dinner at home. I didn't even think to leave a review until Google asked me if I wanted to and for once, I'm glad Google maps kept track of my movements... Lol. I'm happy I get to share my experience and I recommend this place 5/5????????.
Smoked meat Benny. Great breakfast
My mother loves the place. I'm 50/50 on it. The food is really good. They have a strange dine in schedule. Like, even during these strange times thier schedule is stranger than average.
Very good service. Delicious and nice!
Ordered the smoke meat platter. The meat was cold. Would have liked to have Mustard and ketchup in a bottle snd not in small bags which are difficult to open! Service was ok!
Their smoked meat is amazing. Amazing classic ambiance inside. I like the fries too.
We dined at Snowden Deli the other day on a visit to Montreal. We discovered this place several years ago and try to stop in each time we are in town. Unfortunately, this visit didn’t go as well as in the past. Service was good and the smoked meat was fabulous, but we were looking forward to having your yummy hand cut fries as they were a family favourite. This time around, they were soggy and greasy. Almost like they were reheated, which was strange considering the restaurant was full. The portion sizes also seemed smaller than we remember pre-COVID. Not sure if we caught them on an off day, but it was truly disappointing, especially since we were with my brother from out of town and he didn’t see what all our fuss was about having to stop here and have him try your food. We hope for better next time :(
Great food, my favorite smoked meat sandwich, great service.
I went last year for breakfast and it was good. This year I went again and I ordered something different an omelette and it was not an omelette!! They mixed everything. Horrible presentation in the plate, super super salty. I should have returned it. It was not good at all. The cooker should take a course of "how to do an omelette" and please don't mix again capers in the eggs that goes separate in the side.
Every time I'm in Montreal, I make certain that I head for Snowdon Deli and pick up a couple medium fat old fashioned smoked meat sandwiches. I eat them both before I leave my parking space. This trip I also picked up 2 lbs of smoked meat, 2 boxes of Party Sandwiches, a pound of smoked carp and a loaf of rye bread. They even packed it on ice so it would survive the trip to Halifax. Now I'm hungry again ????
Great place….now closed for dinner….take out is wonderful
Decent food and service, in a fairly plain diner atmosphere. Nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either: it is exactly as advertised - a simple diner lunch fare with a Jewish Montreal twist. For the same type of food I still prefer Reubens on account of prettier surroundings and better dessert options.
