The location is very busy around dinner, however, so call ahead and set a reservation or expect a wait for seating to become available. Great spot to eat if you don't mind eating a little earlier or waiting to be seated.

Horrible experience, un- flexible menu, we really wanted to have a garlic shrimp appetizer, but the staff was unwilling to accommodate, lobster was very expensive, service was OK, but not great, food was nothing to get excited over. We were on vacation, “heard” this was a great place, we heard wrong. Save your hard earned money, find somewhere else willing, to make your dining experience special. Peter.

Went for breakfast and it was decent. The place was clean. Eggs were okay but wasn't a fan of the potatoes. Pancakes were okay too. It was one of the few places open for breakfast though when I was looking.

Great experience at Chez Yvonne's and great food for the whole family. We arrived at 7pm and got a table for 7 with little wait time. Our server was friendly, attentive and professional. Our meals arrived just as ordered with no mixups. The meals are truly homemade and fresh here. We found the quality to be very good and portion size to be just right. The homemade dinner rolls were also outstanding. The restaurant has an open concept with great views all around. Because of this, the low ceiling and smooth surfaces, we found the restaurant to be a somewhat loud once all the tables were occupied. We had to speak up to hold a conversation across our table during our meal. I suspect at prime time, there could be considerable wait time to get a table. Suggest making a reservation or arriving before or after the peak rush hour times. If you enjoyed this unbiased review helpful, please give it a thumbs up. Thanks!

Called ahead to ask if we can get a table for 6 on the patio. We were told we yes we can and it would just be a few minutes. So we drove to the restaurant and when we showed up for our table, they told us to wait in front of 40 people in line for our table.

If you are going to charge 2.98 for a soft drink, then you should probably not put them in the smallest glasses you can find and then ALSO charge 2.98 for refills. Especially without telling he patron...... food wasn't bad. But the 20 soft drink bill was more than my lunch. Ludicrous!!!

Great little diner in the heart of Cavendish. The food isn't fancy, but the restaurant itself has character. It's big, bright, and very clean! They have a nice little patio with much more seating indoors. The staff were great! Very friendly. Prices were pretty reasonable, too. I'd say we'll be back for more breakfasts during our stay.

My girlfriend and I went there this evening and were blown away. The server made us feel like family, and even gowned my partner and I in a lobster bib and took pictures. The seafood chowder is the best I've ever tasted and presented beautifully. Potatoes were perfect - not too dry, not too moist. Lobster was succulent, and the steak was so juicy that it felt like it was cooked at a steakhouse. Would very highly recommend this place to any travellers! To the owner - your staff are golden. Your chef is incredible. Keep it up!

Service was great. Food was a bit disappointing. We were seated outside on the deck but wasn’t offered an umbrella... they were in the deck laying?? Ordered fish and chips for 14.99. Fish was good but fries were frozen fries and not very tasty. Do not order gravy here as it was tasteless. Ketchup packets and tartar sauce packets were served with the dinner and I was not thrilled with that. I don’t mind it if it’s take out but homemade tartar sauce would have been nice and I just don’t like being given ketchup packets at an eat in restaurant. We ate here because it was next door to where we were staying. Later we realized lots of other places in the area that advertised home-cut fries and at cheaper prices.

Great location in Cavindish. Beautiful sunset and a nice view. The entrance we went in requires a flight of stairs. I understand there is another entrance for those who cannot climb stairs, but I did not see the entrance. There is a second floor outside deck. The food was good value. My husband was not expecting the half lobster to be cold. The steak served with the lobster and steak was similar to a breakfast steak, but was cook perfectly, yet meal was warm when served, not hot. My meal was hot, stuffed sole. The flavor was good. Ever person was pleasant, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the place clean.

The customer service was terrible. Lady at the cash was full of attitude and rude. For the food it wasnt the best. Our fish and chips were soggy and they forgot to bring the roll that was supposed to be included. We asked for water and the waitress walked away with attitude. The restaurant area was very loud. We ended up on the patio which was better. We had the fish and chips. The best part of the meal was the bread roll and butter. Potatoes had lumps, fish was ok tasting but not the best. It reminded me of the triangle fish you get in the freezer section. Vegetables were still stiff in the middle. I expected a lot better for the price.

I loved that we were able to make a reservation ahead of time for a table (which is recommended as they're very popular!) and that the gluten free menu had so many options (and its own separate menu explicitly stating what was and wasn't made in a shared fryer). Staff was extremely knowledgeable about what was celiac safe and the seafood was quite tasty! They even had gluten free dessert options (a cheesecake!)

Amazing food. Generous portion sizes, and really tasty dishes. Prices are reasonable. Most nights are packed, even when visiting after the "end of season" in September. Which with the smaller dining area and outdated decor it can feel like you're sitting with the people next to you. It can get quite loud as the resturant starts bustling. I've never had less than a 20 minute wait (with no greeting or advisory as to how long you'll be waiting) standing in an awkward landing or on the stairs. Service was decent, the staff handles being busy well. Just don't go if you're in a rush to be somewhere or expecting to get a second drink before your meals done.

I read reviews prior to going and have to say the positive reviews were spot on. Service was awesome - my husband and I brought our 4 yr old and 6.5 yr old and the server, Shirley, was so great with them. The host welcomed them too, which was nice. We were there for breakfast, which was good. (Standard but good) Price was reasonable, place was clean and welcoming. We sat out on the patio and had a nice view of the water in the distance. Next time we are in the area we will be back.

After a few hot hours on Cavendish beach, it was a welcome relief to step into Yvonne's climate controlled dining room. The service was great as well as the food. I did the surf and turf with pan fried scallops and a Caesar salad on the side. The steak was a bit thin and overdone (asked for Medium Rare, got nearly well done) but was tasty. My wife had the pan fried scallops with a Caesar salad side, and my daughter had the fish and chips and said it was very good. Our dinner companions had the Lobster BLT, the local beef Hamburger platter, and the kids chicken finger meal. The only complaints on that side was that there was not enough lobster in the BLT, and that the hamburger was smaller than expected, but both were tasty and satisfying. Shirley the server lived up to the reputation other reviews have given her, lovely lady and a great conversation had there.

Stopped in here on it last day in cavendish, it’s slow season so they weren’t busy. We were seated very quickly and the service was great. The restaurant itself is very beautiful and clean we were very impressed. The food was great we started with the bacon wrapped scallops and mussels the scallops were the best I ve ever had! , I had the steak and lobster meal with baked potato and veggies and my partner had the fish n chips and my little one had the kids fish n chips. Firstly I have to say I was super impressed veggies was served at lunch time as a lot of places don’t offer that and the food was so good! Thank you!

Our group of 3 were told they were very busy hence the reason for the wait, but this is Cavendish in August so of course they're busy. More importantly, other tables who were seated after us ate and left while we were still waiting. The food is good but not complex, so should not have to wait an hour for it.

My sister found this restaurant on celiac Pei's website and was it ever a gem of a place!!! They have a full gluten free menu and it seemed as though serving someone with celiac was second nature to the waitress. The other waitresses were all super friendly and smiling all the time. Both the regular menu and the gluten free menu had seafood and land food. The buns and gluten free bread were delicious! As were all of their in house baked desserts! Even their gluten free chocolate almond torte was to die for! As someone with celiac, I greatly appreciated how included I felt with the menu and offer of gluten free bread (instead of the gluten buns) and even having an available dessert. Definitely worth checking out!!! Ps. The bathroom was clean and easy to find :)

The service was amazing, very friendly. The food however was not. Frozen fries in PEI? The lettuce and tomato in my burger were low quality and the best part of the meal, the coleslaw, was such a small portion it was less than two fork fulls. Very friendly and quick, so much potential if there was a reasonable quality of ingredients. Also, no creamer, ketchup or sugar containers, all individual packets. Produced about 10 packages of garbage between cream and sugar for my coffee and ketchup for my fries. Hard to imagine all the garbage produced in one day let alone the hassle of opening all of those for customers.

Very solid food, a staple spot whenever we're in Cavendish. They have an extensive gluten free menu and are very cautious in their preparation which is advantageous if you have an individual in your dining party who has celiac disease. In general I cannot recommend their hot turkey sandwich higher, they get their turkey fresh from a local farm (Larkin Bros).

Excellent moist deep fried haddock. The batter visually looked overcooked, but it didn't taste overcooked. There were 2 large pieces of fish. The coleslaw was nice, not too much dressing. The mashed potatoes are just boiled potatoes that are mashed with no skin, no spices, milk, or butter, but I liked them! The roll was nice. The cooked vegetables (turnip and carrots) tasted boiled. They have very big portions. In my opinion, the vegetable portions could have been bigger, but I like almost half of my plate to be veggie. For dessert, my husband and I split a huge slice of homemade coconut meringue pie. The pastry was perfectly flaky. It had a heavy coconut flavour. I thought it was way too sweet tasting, but my hubby disagreed with that.

A staple in Cavendish. Food consistently good. Prices fair. Lobster Clubhouse sandwich ... loosen your belt. Awesome! It's not 5 star fine dining but it's the beach. We go when on the Island. It's the best in the hood. They are a nice lanai overlooking the ocean.

It is a good dining experience. Lots of room and people in the dining room. Portions were smaller than I would like. The burger I ordered was actually the size that I would like to have for a small child, not an adult. And the chicken fingers a little over cooked and were hard on the ends. The rest of the meals were good.

We had a great experience at Chez Yvonne's for dinner. The staff were very friendly, service was great. We tried the mussels, lobster roll and seafood platter and everything was great and cooked perfectly. This is definitely a go-to spot for us now in PE.

Family friendly restaurant. This is a reasonably priced restaurant with patio or indoor seating. Menu items have seafood and landlover items. Good portion size for the price. All turkey dishes are from the owners locally raised birds. Bread is also homemade. There are some other homemade items. Food was very tasty. Service was friendly and very fast.

The service was great. Everyone was so friendly and helpful! We didn't know the area so they gave us some good tips. I really wanted eggs Benedict and it is the only place nearby that had it on their menu! The kids meals also had good portion sizes. My 13 year old was full.

My dad and I stopped here on a coastal drive and had a wonderful experience! The lady serving us was very friendly (and also hilarious!), and the food was perfect for lunch. I had the freshly baked bread with my sandwich and it was delicious. I would definitely recommend stopping here for a bite if you're in the area!

Well the food was a hit and miss... I got the seafood platter, the scallops were okay, the mussels were possibly baked in the oven? And not good, the lobster was not good either, but the haddock and salmon were delicious! Unfortunately half the food wasn't good, but I'd go back!

Cute little place but the breakfast was very meh and tastless. Had the lobster eggs Benedict, the sauce was cold and gelatines, lobster tasted canned and there was barely any pieces. Pancakes were good, and so we're then potatoes. Service was good and friendly.

Avoid this place, save your money get get a McLobster instead. Trust me, it will be better quality then anything you get from this place. 2 adults, 2 young children = worse $175 meal ever. If you want unseasoned, bland, over cooked hospital food then this place is for you. No pride in ownership at all, just a tourist trap with no standards. The owners should honestly be embarrassed. Main seafood dishes were over cooked and rubbery. The sides, were simply boiled vegetables and potatoes with no, butter, garlic or even salt and pepper. If we weren't with another family, when our food was served I would have politlpo said I'm not eating or paying for this food and walked out. Honestly, I'm shocked that they get such high average reviews. I'd love to know what their repeat customer rate is. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!

The price factor should be listed as $$$, because the price is exorbitant for the quality of food. The scallops and the garlic shrimp were decent, but they were served with dry, unadorned mashed potatoes, a flavourless baked potato, undercooked turnips, and unseasoned, poorly done, probably steamed carrots. It seems that they tried to justify the price with the quantity of vegetables, as I had enough potato on my plate for two men, but there was only eight small scallops for one meal, and eight shrimp for the other. The coconut cream pie was alright though.

We are vacationing in Cavendish and we wanted to try some good, local fish and chips. We googled the best fish and chip places around and this was one of them. It was near our cottage, so we decided to go. All 3 of us ordered the fish and chips and when they arrived, we found that there was barely any fish and the “fish” was covered in a really thick and burnt layer of batter. My dad said he could feel his heartburn kick in after the first bite. If you suffer from high cholesterol levels, do NOT order the fish and chips here. The fries were dry, unsalted, and had no flavour. The vegetables on the side were unidentifiable, except for the carrots. They were boiled veggies with no flavour. We obviously don’t know what the other dishes here are like, but the fish and chips are gross and definitely don’t deserve any hype.

Visited 9/21/2019. I ordered the Halibut dinner special for a late lunch. It was really good and incredible value at $24.99, with beverage included. Hubby ordered the Salisbury steak, which he loved, then followed with a piece of New York style cheesecake with butterscotch sauce - it was so good, so light and so big that I had to help him out. Service was great and very friendly. Definitely recommend.

A bit disappointed as here great reviews of this spot. When we arrived, a bus tour was just leaving, so we waited 10 minutes at the door to sit and when we were finally sat, no one came to take our order. We watch 3 tables who were seated after us get served, including their meal before we decided to leave.

On a warm and beautiful day of driving the north central region of PEI, we were starving! We headed for the Blue Mussel and found a line up 1 1/2 hours long and could not possibly wait that long without a fainting spell!!! And so drove off to the nearest competitor.... Chez Yvonne. First thing we noticed - no lineup! Yay...ish?... oh well, let’s give it a try, after all, never had a bad dining experience on the island before! Service was great! Then the food.... ummm... a lobster sandwich which was two slices of white bread with “lobster jam” stuffed into it and 4 tiny slices of pickled gherkin on the side... for the uninitiated, “lobster jam” is what you get when you take (what may have been a perfectly good) lobster, shred it and kill all of the flavour with a huge dose of sugar... ok, I think, I can set this aside and go for the clam chowder!!!! Love clam chowder - every restaurant and housewife on the Island makes the best chowder anywhere!!! With great anticipation (and a tiny bit of saliva dripping from the corner of my mouth) I dip the spoon into the broth, make sure there is a piece of potato and a clam swimming luxuriously in it. I wrap my lips around the soup, release the spoon and slowly chew... rubber... salt... wee bit of onion... wee bit of that clam smoke... and bitterness???? Quickly covered the whole affair with a napkin (well, 4 napkins actually) paid the bill (proper tip for the waitress - not her fault that no one who works there actually tasted that before serving it) and moved on. I have heard that the food was decent from others, so giving one star on the possibility that I received the worst possible serving of food strictly by some unique stroke of bad luck...

UPDATE: July 23rd 2019 After making this our last stop on our trip here, we made sure to make it our first stop this year. And again, it did not disappoint! Quality, freshness, the cook on everything, down to a T. And we were served by the same server as last year. Very nostalgic! I ordered the Atlantic Salmon, char broiled, with new boil potatoes. I absolutely cannot recommend them enough. Delicious on their own, personally, no need for butter or salt. Tried them with both, still very delicious, but the potato shines on it’s own. The salmon was cooked to perfection. Flavourful, tender and fresh. Another thing I can’t emphasize enough, you can taste the quality and freshness in the food. Very happy with my meal! Cannot forget about the dinner rolls! Delicious! Again, more than fine on their own, but delicious buttered as well. Just a really delicious meal, that hit the spot, with friendly and quality service. Will definitely be back before our trip here is done, but I can confidently say anytime I’ll be in PEI, I’ll be “Chez Yvonne’s”. ORIGINAL REVIEW: We were on vacation in PEI, and we drove by this spot a few times. On our last evening, we decided to have our last dinner here. Overall, great experience! Service was friendly and courteous. Menu offers a lot of variety, the food was delicious and properly seasoned, and the homemade rolls with butter! Absolutely amazing! I would highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a delicious bite of local fare, without breaking the bank.
