Little Mushroom catered a reception after the passing of the family matriarch. We flew family in from all over the United States and Canada and every one of them was thoroughly impressed with the food and the service. Every interaction I had with the staff, from booking, to the servers at the event, was amazing. I was receiving compliments about the food and service from the guests for days following the event. I can't recommend Little Mushroom enough. A top notch local operation with world-class food and staff.

Went for a tasting, the food was ok. A couple of the dishes were quite good, but most of the dishes were poorly executed or outright bad. Given the prices we will not be using their catering services. (Edit) Here is my full review: Cold appetizers: The puff pastry one was extremely bland, all I could taste was the puff pastry. It was also a tiny portion. The tomato one was tasty. Hot appetizer: The chicken was overcooked, dry, and rubbery. The tzatziki was poorly executed and I would rate it among the worse tzatzikis that I have tried, I would prefer many store bought versions (a common theme). Salads: I was extremely disappointed with the salads overall. They were all poorly executed, and some were poorly designed. The caesar salad was possibly the worst caesar salad I have ever had, I hesitate to say that it even qualifies as a caesar salad due to the dressing. The dressing tasted like you took some sour cream and added water, it had none of the hallmark flavours of a caesar salad like: lemon juice, worcestershire sauce, pepper, anchovies, umami flavours in general, or really any flavours at all. It also lacked croutons. The kale salad was so close to being good: the kale was tender and not overly bitter, the pumpkin seeds added a nice roasted flavour, the cheese added some richness and umami flavour, and the squash looked nice. However, the dressing ruined this salad. It was overly sour to the point of tasting mostly like vinegar (the sourness of the goat cheese added to this), overpowering all other flavours, and the mustard in the dressing didn't come through. The boston salad was pretty good, but had too much dressing and the sweetness of the dressing combined with the sweet craisins made the salad overall too sweet. It felt like the kind of salad I could make in 5 minutes, not something I want to pay a ton of money for. Mains: As you said, the fish was extremely fishy. I am more sensitive to the fishy flavour of fish than many people, so perhaps for others this would be a good dish, but for me it was pretty much inedible. The chicken was nicely cooked (in contrast to the appetizer chicken), but the broccoli stuffing gave it an odd flavour that I disliked. The mashed potatoes were pretty good, they were appropriately salted. All I could really taste in them was butter, but compared to the way mashed potatoes are often made, I would say these were pretty good. The green beans were fine, but nothing special. The duck was ok. The roasted (deep fried?) potatoes were quite good. I don't recall if there was something else that went with this dish, I suspect that indicates that whatever it was was fine. Neither of us like peppers, so we didn't expect to like the pepper dish. Deserts: The Tiramisu was pretty good, but I thought there was way too much whipped cream. The "donuts" had great flavours, but the textures were lacking, overall they were too sticky. Overall, I expect the food at a tasting to be better than the food that would actually be served at our wedding, so when this food was mediocre I was not impressed. Additionally, when I spoke to your bar manager about us handing our own liquor, I was informed that cleaning up bottles, glasses, etc. could not be included in our quoted price and that we would need to hire additional servers to cover this clean up. There are several set up and take down tasks that we will need to be handled by staff, so your refusal to do basic things like cleaning up glasses gave me the impression that many more tasks would also be refused at our quoted price. I was frustrated by this experience, and my impression was that you were going to attempt to nickel and dime us for every little thing we needed done. Given the price that we were quoted, I was highly disappointed with the quality of the food and by the nickel and diming attitude.

Wow what can I say! There are no words that could describe the amazing service provided by Little Mushroom Catering. Ericka was an absolute dream to work with and I genuinely feel like I left my wedding with a new friend. She was caring, kind and no task was too big or too small for her. All night, I had all of my guest raving about the food. There was both vegan and GF options and I heard from multiple people that the Vegan and GF food is the best they have ever had. I would use LMC anytime I needed an event catered. They were also more then caterers, they assisted with set up, coordinating and just making my dream wedding possible. I am so happy my husband and I used little mushroom catering and I hope we are given the chance to work with Ericka and Stephanie and the whole LMC team in the future.

Little Mushroom Catering is one of my go to caterers for any small, medium or large event. I especially love how flexible they are with dietary allergies as we often have severe allergies to cater to. When dealing with kids parties and late night lunch menus it's always hard to cater to the picky eaters. Little Mushroom Catering food stations take all the stress away; the Poutine Station is on point! I have used Little Mushroom Catering for business meetings and the food always arrives hot, fresh and on time! When hosting smaller gathers where a whole meal isn't expected, Little Mushroom Catering's Hors D'Oeuvres selection are a great go to. As an added bonus they will even provide you with staff to help serve, allowing you to relax and enjoy your time with your guests. While many catering companies usually only cater to a certain size group, I am happy to have Little Mushroom Catering for all my needs. Thank you to Stephanie and her amazing staff!

We would highly recommend them. - Planning during the COVID pandemic was challenging and with all the changes of restrictions and rules, Ericka and her team worked with us to modify the plan through each transition and were super flexible - The food was absolutely delicious and portions for everything exceeded our expectations. We had LMC for our wedding in August and it was the BEST! Everyone complimented how good the food was! I had always known of this business as a caterer, pre Covid but once Covid landed on our shores they morphed and did it rather well. I had the luck of sampling their fare prior to outbreak at various events. When the first lockdown occurred I was thrilled that they were offering a wide variety of services from basic take out or ready made to grocery items and I was one happy customer and availed myself of this. Fast forward to Christmas and I was at a loss for a gift to give an adventurous eater but I recalled LMC for their wide variety of meats beyond chicken and beef and that their dishes were also imaginative. This wound up being the absolute best Covid era gift solution, a gift certificate to a restaurant offering fare both classic and unique. I look forward to a time when I can try their eat in area.

I wouldn't even give a one star rating, that's how disappointed I was when I attended a friends wedding this past weekend. It was an extremely hot day so when the staff tells you no water or you have to wait for it for more than 20 minutes, that's an issue. As for the food I ordered the salmon and it was so dry and cold had no lemon dill cream on it, it was so tasteless. My partner had the chicken and he couldn't finish it, it was rubbery and tasteless as well, he said that it didn't even taste like chicken. When we tried to talk to the staff about our food they were dismissive and unprofessional. Overall horrible experience with little mushroom catering. It saddens me that the bride and groom had to deal with all of this and their disappointed guests. I would not recommend them as a catering service.

Little Mushroom Catering's wedding squad is amazing. We worked with Ericka and Chef Matthew to put together a dream menu for our small wedding. It included a gorgeous Italian-French fusion small plate 4-course menu with a charcuterie cocktail hour, and every guest commented on how the menu felt like "US!" - which we loved! My husband and I are obsessed with high quality, local food offerings and Little Mushroom checked every box. The service was incredible, everyone was fantastic and on the ball. Not a single skipped beat between all the courses. And they even offered to-go containers for our guests as we started getting full! I cannot recommend Little Mushroom enough for a gourmet, flawless wedding experience.

I have been at three events now that were catered by Little Mushroom and the food has consistently been delicious, creative and well presented. You can just tell they care about the whole experience of eating. They have a strong focus on environmental sensibility so don't use any styrofoam or other products that aren't biodegradable. They share remaining food with local shelters - so their social footprint is really admirable as well.

Little Mushroom catered an event for our community during covid. Everybody was super pleased with the quality of the food that they got. In fact I was so pleased that I ordered some special food for my isolated self for New Year's Eve and added some frozen dishes that I could defrost and enjoy later. I am so sad that I finished the cheddar and ale soup last night. The soup was not only delicious but filling and just the right thing for a very snowy, very cold night. I would recommend them as event caterers, as suppliers of individual meals for immediate use and the best source for the freezer meals for future use. I work in the K-W Symphony and am always very excited when I discover that they've hired Steph to cater an event! I love her yummy appetizers and her caramelized onion dip is the best thing ever. Her cookie platter is amazing too - you have to try every kind! My fiance and I like her food so much that we've hired her to cater our wedding, which is exciting because we're vegetarians, and she has lots of wonderful vegetarian options. Can't wait! ::update:: The wedding food was fantastic (though, being the busy bride, I sadly didn't manage to taste any of the delicious-looking appetizers) and I've had rave reviews from our guests!

Disappointing experience- wish we went with a different vendor. It took us a while to write this review as we were still devastated over our experience with Little Mushroom Catering and wanted time to process our feelings over trusting them to be our wedding caterer. Our experience with LMC started off good- they were attentive to our wants and needs and we truly believed that this would carry over on our wedding day. Unfortunately, LMC really dropped the ball the day of and added so much unnecessary stress that we regret going with them. Among the many things that went wrong: Of the 12 cupcake flavours we were told we would have for our wedding cupcakes, we only received 2 at our wedding. We were also promised different flavoured dessert bars, and only had 4- and as the bride and groom, we realised that none of these flavours are the ones we told LMC we specifically wanted. We actually skipped dessert since there was nothing we liked and we were so heartbroken to see this. When we asked the catering manager where the rest of the flavours were- they just shrugged and said there was nothing they could do. We spent money (aprox $100) on 2 tastings with LMC and at both times we were assured that this would be the exact same food served at our wedding. The hors d'oeuvres we had at the tasting were wonderful- at the wedding, it was a cheap, watered down version of the beautiful presentation we had seen at the tasting. We also specifically asked for the food to be served on wooden platters, which LMC assured us would not be a problem. On the day of our wedding, we noticed that the platters were not there, and the catering manager told us he had no idea what we were even talking about. We asked for our wine service to be served by their waiters during dinner service, yet the wine bottles were left on the table for guests to pour themselves. We were super disappointed to see that not even this simple request was followed, and what was worse, we had over 15 bottles of barely touched wine that we had to throw out within the week. The bartenders also claimed they ran out of one of our signature drinks, yet when we got home we noticed that we had a few, unopened bottles left over- did the bartenders decide that they just didn't want to make it anymore? As for the food- while it was good, as bride and groom we went first to take our dinner from the buffet and noticed that the steak was mildly warm. Our gravy for the poutine was also not properly heated, and only when we went for the second round was it hot. All of this meant that we had to keep going back and forth between the caterers kitchen, and received so much attitude from them on the day of the wedding. It added so much stress to our day and wasted so much of our time asking the kitchen what was going on- had the catering team even bothered to read our notes, this could have been avoided. We were super nice prior to the wedding so we believed they felt that they could just take advantage of that and not pay attention to our wedding day requests- LMC does multiple weddings a day so we were obviously not even close to being a priority to them. We spent almost $150 on food per person (we had 110 guests), not including drinks, and definitely do not feel like we even got anything remotely for what we paid for. You are much better off going with another company that will handle your needs and actually read the notes from previous meetings as to what you want for your wedding day. You only have one wedding day- and we unfortunately learned the hard way of how much additional stress and heartbreak can be added if you go with the wrong vendor. P.S. Had a guest tell me the incredibly unprofessional staff were super rude when people came back for more. This is super embarrassing to us and wish we had chosen a company with more professional staff. We reached out to LMC about this and while they admit their faults- they just say that they will do better next time. Just hope your wedding won't be used as a test run.

She truly helped us coordinate so many aspects and helped us with things we didn’t even think of. You need LMC for your wedding! The staff on the day of were amazing and simply fun. Our guests complimented them all non stop. We were so lucky to have had the chance to work with them!

Steph and her team at Little Mushroom Catering are nothing more than spectacular. Even with our large wedding at a venue that had never accommodated such a large group in the past, their staff were excellent at ensuring everything ran smoothly on the day-of. With some last minute changes, they quickly adjusted and rectified the situation when the seating arrangements were slightly off. They did forget a small detail with regards to decor, and we were compensated for it financially. The food was excellent and many of our guests raved about the quality of the food - which was on par with what we had tasted at our trial. We opted to supply our own meats and the chefs did an adequate job of cooking them, and we were pleased with the quality served to our guests. Little Mushroom is excellent and communicating in a timely manner and any changes we requested were met with professionalism and in a prompt manner. Beth was spectacular at making me (Bride) feel at ease with my choices and requested changes in terms of decor that was to be rented. Overall, we couldn't have been happier with LMC, and would strongly recommend them for weddings! They served our 200 guest wedding, outdoors, flawlessly and were wonderful to work with!

Their soup shooters are out of this world! Such a smart idea to have soup in a shot glass so that it is easy for guests to mingle and eat! Also, they supply all of their food from local farms and businesses. AND they are passionate about eliminating waste wherever possible and work hard to reduce their environmental footprint. If you want to have a catered event, with great food and service, but also care about sustainability, look no further. Little Mushroom Catering is beyond amazing.

I attended a wedding this past weekend that was catered by Little Mushroom and after hearing such good reviews I was looking forward to the food... however, what we received was dismal at best. The charcuterie starter was good but the salad that followed didn't seem fresh at all. When it came to the main course we didn't even know what to think. I ordered the beef and my partner had the fish. It started with the presentation, it looked like a sloppy mess of overcooked vegetables with a hunk of meat thrown on top, messy and unappetizing. Both dishes were small, extremely over cooked and not at all as described on the menu. The fish had zero of the "creamy lemon dill sauce" as described on the menu. And the beef was so hard I could barely chew it and gave up half way through. The service from the staff was also poor, we couldn't find anyone to talk to about the meal or get us water. We were constantly getting up to find water and then didn't understand when the water ran out completely by 8pm or 9pm. On such a hot day (32 degrees) we felt really unsettled and sick by the end of the night. I have been to a lot of weddings, both low and high budget, and this wedding was one of the fanciest in all other areas... but the meal was one of the worst. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for a caterer.

I recently attended a wedding catered by Little Mushroom Catering. It was a very upscale reception that this company could clearly not handle. They were very amateur, disorganized, and unprofessional. The food was awful. My husband had a steak and it was hard as a rock. He couldn't even eat it and he never leaves food on a plate. I had ordered fish and I could swear it was cooked the night before, it was just cold and dry. They were rude to the guests, some hadn't received their meals for a long time. They failed to bring water, everyone was thirsty and chocking on the dry food, and they dared to insult the guests that were asking them for water. I feel very sad for the bride and groom because this company's catering and service ruined their beautiful reception.

I recently attended a wedding where no detail was overlooked, and knowing the bride and groom, I didn't expect anything less. That is, until it was time for dinner. Little Mushroom catered the event and from something as simple as having water available, to serving the right meals to the right people, to preparing and cooking the food, they just did not get anything right. It was disappointing to say the least after having such a beautiful day. The meat was dry and overcooked, the salad was a bunch of greens with no taste and we did not even get served the dessert. The duck was succulent, the crab cakes with crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside and the cupcake was just enough sweetness without the overkill. We'd planned on using LMC for our wedding on May 2020, and the planning process and taste testing were wonderful. We gave them our budget, and they worked with us to create an event that would have been amazing. Of course, Covid happened, and we had to postpone our wedding. With the uncertainty, we decided to go ahead on June 19th, 2021 with only 10 people for an outdoor gathering, and LMC catered an amazing meal. We picked up our desserts and cold dishes the day before, and they dropped off hot meals right on time the day of. The food was amazing, and they helped us have a small wedding that felt really special. They will be my go to for any events I need catered in the future, and I'm looking forward to purchasing items from their shop (we had a few extra meals dropped off so that my husband and I could enjoy them the next night instead of cooking, and it was just as delicious).

The service was outstanding, from a very punctual arrival to the set up and the most delicious food. My co-op ordered from this company for an anniversary online get together, we ate individual meals in our units and interacted through Zoom. The meal was delicious, I had the beef strogonoff and the portion was enough for two meals. The pasta was lovely and delicate and slightly buttery, and the meat melted in your mouth. They know customer service and then some. LMC catered an event for our company and did nothing but impress us and our guests. Ericka was our coordinator and from day one she was very accommodating and help made our planning process a breeze. We began planning our wedding pre-covid and ended up having to postpone a few times. LMC was extremely accommodating with our postponements. Our wedding night was amazing and honestly a big part of it was the food. Our guest are still raving about how amazing the food was. We decided to go with their stations options and our guests commented many times on how unique this was. We received many recommendations for Little Mushroom Catering when we were searching for local options for our wedding buffet-style dinner - and they did not disappoint! Beth was friendly and personable, and suggested a menu based on our favourite dishes, the time of year and seasonal availability, the number of guests, and our budget. Our guests enjoyed a delicious spiced pumpkin and apple soup, a roasted root veg and arugula salad with chevre and balsamic dressing, butter chicken (mild) or chickpea curry (spicy), and an assortment of tarts for dessert. The servers were so lovely, and were dancing around clearing tables. They cut a cake that my grandmother had made for us, and were so considerate during speeches. I would recommend LMC without reservation, because they really cared about our special day, and did all the legwork so that we could relax and enjoy... and actually get to eat!

LMC catered our Christmas Party at our store. It was absolutely fabulous. We ordered turkey dinner, stuffing, mashed, vegetables, Caesar salad, and dessert/ coffee for 28 guests. Everything was wonderful; the turkey was cooked beautifully, and the quantity of food was great. We also got the logo cookies, and they were a huge hit! Thanks to the two staff members who were phenomenal, and let the owners help serve the staff. They were quiet, and would have never known they were there. We are so impressed with Little Mushroom Catering. We met with them last fall to do a tasting for our wedding which was this September. The food was incredible and we ultimately selected them as our vendor. Then when COVID hit, Ericka was in constant communication with us and was extremely flexible as we still went ahead with our wedding but with a much smaller group of people. There was never any pushback, Ericka just worked with us to make everything perfect. The day before the wedding when our rentals showed up from a third party. We found the knives were rusty and the dinner plates had mould on them! We called little mushroom and within an hour the owner had someone bring us all new cutlery and dishes from their test kitchen for no additional charge. They also helped us get our money back from the rental company that they had worked with. From start to finish the service was amazing and our guests couldn’t stop talking about the food! I have to admit I was very excited to try the various stations they had set up at a wedding I attended. After a very hot long day all guests had worked up quite an appetite. There was pasta, chicken, beef, mashed potatoes bar lots of variety. Problem is they obviously miscalculated the volume of food they needed. They were trying to compensate for their error by putting rediculouly small portions on the plates. I went for chicken and they carved off of a leg two medallions the size of a toonie. I watched in disbelief as the Bride (you know. The person paying the bill) argued with the person at the carving table because she wanted a bigger portion of chicken because A’s she stated she wasn’t eating red meat or pasta. She was told no sorry that is our portion size. Wow. The beef was drier than a popcorn toot and they ran out or pasta. The desert table looked pathetic, the bride was not happy with what looked like they had taken and bought cheap quality Nanaimo bars and other boxed squares from no frills. Then the late night poutin bar. Sounds great right? The fries were cold and chewy. Not from sitting they came out that way. The gravy was only slightly warm and yep you guessed it they ran out within the first few minutes. Absolutely pathetic. I would never use little mushroom catering.

I used LMC for my wedding back in 2019, and have nothing but great things to say about them! They were one of the recommended vendors for the venue we used. After reaching out to them, they were able to give me a rough estimate based on what we wanted and broke down the quote in complete detail so we could see exactly how much each thing cost. At first, the cost given was more than we budgeted for. However, they were extremely accommodating and let us modify the menu as much as possible to get it down to what was in our budget; I was so thrilled! We were still able to offer a variety of options to our guests while staying within a reasonable budget. Our tasting was awesome and they were able to answer any questions we had during that time. Having a plated meal would've put us over our budget, so we chose to go with the buffet style. Quite honestly, I was worried that the buffet would make our reception feel too casual and 'campy', but I was blown away with how elegant they set up the buffet. I remember the staff being extremely friendly and professional on our wedding day and the buffet option still felt very fancy. All that to say, the food was delicious and I would highly recommend this caterer. Great service, great food, great team!

They liked the tortilla chips and hamburger sliders. The men really liked the pulled pork sliders. Food was delivered on time and setup was done by their staff. I will definitely hire them again.

Little Mushroom Catering was a bit of a letdown this past weekend at a wedding I attended. Both the beef and salmon were overcooked and quite dry and I was still hungry after my meal was finished. The potatoes and side dishes were done alright but at a wedding, when the meat is the centrepiece, it is quite unacceptable when the your beef is chewy to the point where you're thinking about putting down your fork. Another big problem was that the catering company ran out of water bottles at the end of the night at an outdoor wedding with no access to tap water. It was 34 degrees and I was feeling very dehydrated by the end of the night. I think one of the reasons for their mistep here was the size of the wedding and Little Mushroom not being equipped to scale their food preparation for a large crowd. If you are having a larger wedding, well, any other event for that matter, I suggest going with another catering company.

For the last month now, we have ordered a variety of food items. We have enjoyed every meal and in our opinion, its the best tasting food in the area. Their meat is locally raised, organic and antibiotic free. The ingredients are fresh. When you email with a question, they are fast to respond. They have a great new website that you can order your food from, with the choice of either pick up or delivery. The staff are incredibly friendly. This establishment has hit the nail on head with spectacular Customer Service! We will continue to support this fantasic business as it checks off all the boxes for us! From the minute we started chatting I could tell that LMC had a passion for food and a flare for creating unique reception menus. Not only did Beth and her team create an incredible country-style menu for our rustic farm wedding, but they also coordinated our rental items, executed speedy set-up and provided us fun and personable service staff. We had Little Mushroom cater our wedding at Steckle Heritage Farms on June 22nd, 2018. In the months leading up to our wedding, Elizabeth was so helpful with the planning process, and allowed us to create a menu that fit our needs and budget. Erica was great the night of our wedding and continuously checked if we needed anything. Everything went so smoothly, the food was delicious, and the staff was SO helpful and accommodating! I think almost every single member of the staff made an effort to come up to us and congratulate us the night of our wedding, which was so sweet! Little Mushroom Catering catered our wedding, but they did so much more than just prepare and serve food. From two years out, Elizabeth was so helpful in answering all our questions and helping us plan the details (and patient putting up with all my many, many emails!!). As the date got closer, we leaned on them more and more and were thrilled that they helped us whenever possible, including providing a few extra hands to help with decorating, providing vases and a cake stand, among other things. On the day of, Lauren and her team were absolute professionals. When I arrived, the space was set up perfectly. The evening went off exactly as planned and, when a few small things went wrong (mostly problems relating to our venue, some of which I was aware of and some not), they handled and solved it immediately. At the end of the night, they helped us clean up, even though I hadn't initially asked them to help with this because I thought we could manage (and we couldn't!). The day was absolutely lovely and I was so impressed by how easily it went. I would recommend Little Mushroom Catering to any brides and grooms to be, but especially those who are attempting to plan the day themselves! We couldn't have done it without their help.

LMC catered our wedding and we were absolutely blown away by every part of the experience! Our wedding was initially booked in 2020, but we postponed until 2021 due to COVID. LMC was so understanding, accommodating, and encouraging as we our plans changed over and over again. All of the communication we had with LMC when planning and leading up to the wedding was professional, prompt, and organized. The staff were always happy to answer any questions we had (and we had many!). We appreciated the large food selection that LMC offers, although everything was so tasty it was hard to narrow our choices down! LMC exceeded all of our expectations on the day of our wedding. There were absolutely no issues on the day of, the staff arrived at the venue on time and had everything set up and prepared for when our cocktail hour began. All of our guests raved about how good the food was! LMC's food is unbelievably delicious!! Every staff member at our wedding was polite, professional, attentive, and friendly. LMC was a huge part of what made our wedding so enjoyable for us and our guests. We cannot recommend LMC enough!!
