A pretty good meal! The restaurant has a great patio and large booths for dining inside. The menu has a lot of variety but hard to tell what they really “specialize” in. I found it a little expensive, but again you are downtown Burlington. I had the shrimp tacos and they were pretty good. Good wine selection but when we tried to order they were out of a lot!

First time visit and I will definitely be back! The seafood chowder mussels were 5 star, almost the best I've had. Main course of steak tenderloin feature and pasta carbonara we're excellent, as was the Walnut ice cream waffle for dessert. Great service and we enjoyed our time there, no sense of being rushed through dinner. Nice atmosphere. Thanks for the great night out!

Normally come out here a few times a year as a special occasion with the family. Food and servers are always amazing and we have never had an issue here. Anytime we go it seems to be very busy so I would highly advise booking in advance and occasional preset menu's are normally pretty good.

I have often driven by this place en route to elsewhere and wanted to stop by. I did so a couple of weeks ago and was not disappointed! A wonderful patio and staff who go above and beyond! We had the calamari and Baja shrimp tacos. The food - the cocktails - the atmosphere.....all were perfect!

I don't understand why all the good reviews of this place.. I was in for brunch and got the chicken and waffles. The chicken was clearly frozen from a bag, and the Belgian waffles were also a pre-made product and clearly not freshly made. This kitchen is taking all the possible shortcuts. It's too bad, as the restaurant is in a great location.

The service at this place is absolutely horrendous! Firstly, it took 2 HOURS for our group of 11 people to receive our food, despite having a reservation. For a variety of reasons, we had members of our group requiring food quickly so we requested the optional bread service which took a half hour just to get some rolls and butter on a table. The manager came by about an hour and a half in to apologize for the wait and say that she had no excuse as to why our food wasn't ready. During our wait one of the waiters walked by and dropped about 15 KNIVES off her bucket onto the backs of two of our group members, didn't stop or even apologize. Another server followed behind and asked if people were okay and picked things up but still offered no apology. When we finally did get our food one meal had to be sent back as it was undercooked. I have a food allergy that I had called ahead about to confirm that they could accommodate, made sure that the server was aware of the fact that it was an allergy, yet my food still contained it and I now get to deal with the side effects of an allergic reaction. Not a single true apology offered all night, no complimentary anything even for the bride who we were trying to celebrate! For the overpriced meals, one would definitely expect much better service! Not recommended for anyone to pay a visit. The food was mediocre at best.

Awful experience. Had lunch out on the patio which was so nasty. Food scraps all over the floor and the whole patio was infested with fruit flies. Hanging flower baskets were dead crunchy and obviously not maintained. Between my spouse and I we ordered a pizza which was not good. Better off having a frozen delicio. Muscles were fine and plain green salad with salmon that would be pretty hard to screw up so that too was fine. If you enjoy eating with thousands of fruit flies - their patio is for you. I can guarantee I ate a couple for sure. They were all up in your face your food - it was gross. Pepperwood - clean and power wash your patio and water your baskets or get rid of them. Will NOT be returning!!! I'll add wait staff was fine. No complaints. Service was fine.

This place literally amazed me. From how bad the service was let alone the food, I cannot believe this place is as busy as it is. I work in the industry, always make it easy for people, but when a server is blatantly terrible and rude I cannot even fathom why they have to behave the way they even have a job. I know it’s not the servers fault that the food is blatantly terrible but honestly it just was so bad I don’t even know what to say. Cheers

We arranged an 85th Birthday party for my mom in Pepperwoods private room. Catherine and Steven were excellent in the pre event confirmation and set up. Peggy was our server and did an absolutely magnificent job catering to all of our needs. My prime rib was very good. All of the feedback that I received from my family was extremely positive. My mom was really happy. Thank you Pepperwood for providing the space and service for an extremely memorable evening. Peggy, you were awesome!

Great patio, decent food, good service. We had a great time, enjoyed music on the patio. The burgers and sandwiches we had were good, but nothing too notable for the $16 and $18 prices. One guest enjoyed the Rocket salad ($12). Most of all, I loved that they took care to make our wheelchair-bound guest not only comfortable, but welcome on a crowded patio.

If you're in Burlington looking for a great spot that is literally at the centre of everything that is going on, then Pepperwood is the place to be. Food is decent, nothing spectacular but they do have a great cod, with fish batter that you can cut through like butter. Beer is where this place really excels - huge beer selection that includes many local craft brewers - plus they serve your beer in the glass from the brewer, fantastic! Older crowd. Burlington-hip, cool spot for sure, great for drinks/dinner kind of place...

First time at this place and over all it was a good experience. The worst part about this place was where I was seated the chair I was sitting in kept rocking, as the stone ground underneath me was not flat or even so my chair was always moving, and rocking so that was annoying. The best part about this place was the Brownie Dessert. I never had Brownie that tasted so good. I would go back again just for the Brownie Dessert. (But sit somewhere else) The servers were really friendly and nice. I really liked the food and I will gladly come back again.

Good outdoor patio but the draft beer is not cold!!! When you stop to have a draft, you want it to be as cold as possible the Pepperwood serves up lukewarm draft I tried a couple thinking it would get better but it didn’t.

Came here for a late lunch with my wife and was really craving Pad Thai. I probably should’ve known it wasn’t going to be authentic but it was honestly pretty awful. The curry sauce didn’t gel with the rest of the favours at all and the noodles were so dry it was hard to separate the clumped noodles to actually eat. She had the seasonal quiche (red pepper and goat cheese) and it was much better than my lunch. Still, the service was pretty friendly but they should really think about fixing that pad thai recipe or do our tastebuds a favour and take it off the menu :(

Friendly, prompt and attentive service. The coffee was expensive ($3.50), and even though it came with free refills it tasted like something you'd get at a gas station. However, the Belgian waffle sandwich I got was probably one of the best and most filling breakfast meals I've ever had.

Ordered the Pepperwood burger and was pretty disappointed. It was dry and relatively tasteless. I would have expected more from a high end place like this. The servers are phenomenal and super nice which was great. However the food kinda ruined the experience along with a rowdy group of middle aged people who came in drunk yet were still served.

When we arrived at Pepperwood the staff was slow to seat us. Our waitress was initially ok, but disappeared for at least 30 minutes or so after taking our orders. Didn’t come by to fill our waters or ask how the food was. A different server brought out our meals and spoke to me in a condescending manner as he put down my plate. We ate, finished our meal, and just sat there waiting for quite a while. A number of servers walked by and didn’t do anything. Eventually, a server name Olivia came by and noticed we were done and I told her that our waitress took off. She was super attentive and rectified the situation. She definitely turned the night around and we are very appreciative of the steps she took to ensure our experience was improved.

We decided to try the taste of Burlington menu items and found the food less than acceptable. The salad had way too much dressing, the pheasant was overcooked and the steak not only lacked any presentation, but was not cooked as requested. It was the worst steak my husband had ever had. After that we were told that the dessert listed was not available, but we could have cheesecake instead. Since my husband can’t eat cheesecake, we requested a substitution and were told that no substitutions were allowed. I had to wait another 15 minutes or so for my cheesecake to arrive and when it did, it turned out to be apple crumble instead. So much for no substitutions. For this service our bill came up over $100. Needless to say we were less than impressed. It’s a shame since I had heard good things about the restaurant in the past. But for this amount of money, we expect much greater quality.

Our apps had to be returned 3 times! Our meal then had to be returned as the fish was so over cooked we couldn’t eat it and the veggies were hard and cold. Manager knew about the issue with our table but didn’t think it was important to come to our table. When we insisted the manger come to our table to discuss what was going on she simply gave us excuses that the kitchen was busy and these things happen. How disappointing it use to be a great restaurant. Don’t waste your time or money here.

If I could give it no stars I would. What a horrible experience! We had my hunnys work Christmas party there this year, if it weren’t for the great company, we would have left. EXTREMELY disorganized, the dinner took 3 hours to get through because they didn’t bring the entree out until 9pm. No consistency, other tables in our group were served hours before us and We got there at 7!!! They brought the entrees out and no cutlery, took 30 minutes for us to even get water. They over charged and included the tip, which was NOT earned. Then charged us for a dessert and appetizer we didn’t even receive! This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences we have had. If you’re planning on having a function there... word of advice DONT!!! So disappointed

I went for dinner with a few friends recently along with my baby for Taste of Burlington. I was pleasantly surprised with my very delicious dinner! I’ve found the food to be a little hit and miss over the years, but on this visit the food was yummy and fresh so I’ve upgraded my opinion to 5 stars. Also, it was actually our service that made it such an enjoyable visit! She was so friendly and knowledgeable! Great spot when the weather warms up along the water front.

What a wonderful place! We were treated to a wonderfully comfortable booth where we could see the whole restaurant. The food was to die for. One person had chicken cooked perfectly with fresh veg and potatoes. It was like home cooked, but better. Loved the freshness of the margarita pizza as well! I took more than half home, though, because the baked Brie appetizer was so delicious and so filling, but I couldn't stop eating it. What great service and food. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

What a great restaurant! The food is fantastic! Tried the pretzel to start which was amazing!! For the main, ordered pasta which was also good. The portions were a but small for the price, but no complaints on the taste or quality. The interior was artistic and clean. The food took a while and the service was a bit slow. The place was fairly empty, expected a bit more.

Had the Margherita Pizza and honestly, it wasn't worth the money. It really lacked flavour, too much stale sauce, and couldn't find the pesto anywhere. Saving grace was that we sat on the patio when the weather was warm, and it was nice being able to see the water and the walking traffic.

After not going here for several months due to poor service my wife and I decided to give them another try and drop by after dinner (we ate at another restaurant) to enjoy a drink on their patio. Once we were seated at the table we waited for 10 minutes and know one even came by to say hello, offer us a drink menu or anything. We waited around for another couple of minutes and then got up and walked out. I see that their poor service has not changed in over 12 months - suffice to say we will not be going back. There are a lot of great places to eat in Downtown Burlington so even bother with this place. As an FYI.....we walked round the corner and down the street and were seated and enjoying our drinks in a quick and courteous manner.

My mussels were way too salty. I told the server and they did nothing. To be fair, I did eat them. The server got a few of our orders wrong and was super defensive. Everyone else enjoyed their meals but the Tirimisu was not great. Overall disappointed.

Had the most amazing experience at Pepperwoods today! We had the Rose's room for a large party and it went so smoothly because we had such an amazing waitress. The food portion sizes were so generous for the price and the food was also delicious! We really appreciated the restaurant letting us bring our own dessert as it was for a special occasion. Highly recommend for casual dining or for a party!

The location/ambiance is the only thing this place has going for it. Hard crab cakes, a basic risotto, and a seafood pasta comprised of shrimp and micro clams over boiled dry pasta, with two glasses of white, came in at $110. Try elsewhere.

This was my first time here. It was a very good experience. The ambience was very nice and romantic with dim lighting and all. To start off, we ordered a champagne as it was New Years Eve. Our waitress brought it in no time. She also brought some bread and cranberry butter. The cranberry butter was out of this world. We also ordered the fondue with the baguettes and pretzel. It was really tasty. Then I ordered the lobster Mac n Cheese and my wife ordered the smoked mozzarella ravioli. Both were very tasty and we were very happy with the service. Our waitress was also very attentive to us and she regularly checked with us if we need anything. Our friends were also happy with their food. To end the experience we ordered the Creme Brûlée. It was a cherry on top of the good experience we already had. I will be sure to come back again.

Great place to go!!! Excelent attention, fantastic mussels Tokyo style..$19. Short but good selection of drinks(around $7-$10) Live music in the weekends. Kids menu x $9. And was a very nice place. I reccomended it. Also if I am not wrong on the weekends the parking garage is for free (just 1 block), I used the Waterfront garage next to the Art center and was for free, that was a Sunday.

Met a friend for an early dinner and drinks at Pepperwood bistro on Lakeshore rd in downtown Burlington, it was a beautiful evening so we sat on the patio, lots of action downtown but also lots of road noise..... ultimately it’s just part of summers in Canada, have to make the most of them! I had the “taste of Burlington” special, a spring salad, followed by Mahi Mahi fish, and a cheesecake... all for $40 which I though was delicious and great value, the flavours were light and “summery” (menu pictures attached) The menu has a nice assortment of food options from soups to salads, pasta and pizza, a few things caught my eye that were worth coming back for! Service was good, our waitress checked in on us and made sure we enjoyed our meal. I would definitely recommend this place, for patio people watching, great food options and friendly service.

Staff was friendly and the restaurant followed COVID protocols (i.e contact tracing, hand sanitizers, etc). We were seated at the patio on a very nice and sunny day. Thank goodness our waitress gave us a table with an umbrella, otherwise, we would have been sunburnt! Food was average, we ordered the fried calamari as a starter and it wasn’t fried enough. When I bit into it, what’s suppose to be the crusty part was mushy. The batter fell off the calamari quite easily. As for the gnocchi, it was basically drowning in bolognese sauce. There was way too much sauce! At one point, I felt like I was drinking soup. The food definitely needs a bit of improvement. Not sure I’ll be back again.

Great to be back! Calamari A+ Fish and chips fried far too long, too tough, too dark, but we didnt send it back. Dont like to do that. Normally love Anything I order from here!! Today, no silver ware, no glass of water. Water was offered at the end of the meal. Silver ware was brought after she brought our meal... I'm guessing she was a new girl. I normally think of Peperwood Always A+ :)

The staff were so friendly and efficient, as well as accommodating...we had an 11 month old along for the day! The food was excellent, and rather quick despite the restaurant being busy! We had a delicious bruschetta flatbread appetizer and it is a must try, great for sharing with a small group!

Today I had one of the most bad experiences ever!!! After my friend and I sit down for some drinks and my wife and sister joined us while having an ice cream. The waitress put pressure asking them if they would have drinks or dinner. I told her we would have some drinks and decide if we would have dinner. The restaurant was empty, many tables not occupied. The manager, a bald guy, extremely rude came to our table and invited our wives to leave the restaurant because they were having ice cream and they would bring COVID to the space. I got extremely surprised and very disappointed to see how a manager who should try to please guesses did the opposite. Pepperwood was a place that I used to recommend to my family and friends and now it’s a restaurant that I will think 10X before I go back. Owners should be ashamed of this kind of behaviour of their employees, after so many days of lockdown, this is ridiculous and unacceptable.!!!!

It's a cozy old school pub inside with a really nice and large patio on the outside. Has your typical pub food, bit tastier than regular but also priced a bit more than regular. They have an inhouse breed cream ale and a brown, I quite liked the brown although found it served warmer than it should. Should have gone with the beer flights sampler if I knew the pint would be warm. Service was friendly, and the patio makes up for it.

Unbelievably disappointed! My friends and I have thought to actually get up just simply leave the place. The waitress was rushing so much that she didn’t even look at our faces while serving us. She brought us 6 cappuccinos with no saucers! I don’t understand where am I supposed to leave my coffee spoon after I use it? I’ve never experienced something like this anywhere else and I’ve had traveled to many countries. Very bad reputation!

I visited Pepperwood for Saturday Brunch and was very disappointed. Seemed like a nice place given the amount of guests but it was very bad! I ordered the eggs Benedict and the poached eggs were too runny, food was tasteless. We asked for the eggs to be poached medium and the server told us they “probably” come medium anyway. When they were served it was too gooey and runny. Coffee was diner coffee, nothing great. When we provided feedback on the eggs the server just brushed it off saying the don’t make many adjustments. Very poor customer service and no regards for customer satisfaction. Two thumbs down! :(

The place is fairly large, divided into several areas, with a couple of elevated semiprivate rooms. The decor is a blend of pub-style benches and a continental fine-dining establishment. There's also a large patio facing Lakeshore Road and the park. The menu spans typical Italian bistro fare, with a good sampling of beef, chicken, fish, mussels, pasta and artisan pizzas. Everything we tried was excellent, and the presentation was attractive. The warm pretzel and cheese dip deserves its popularity. Beer and wine selection is extensive, including many craft beers on tap. Service is attentive and friendly without being overbearing. The place is kept fairly dark, but due to its size, it doesn't really add any intimacy or make it more romantic. It is also fairly noisy; I measured 67 dB(A), which makes it difficult to have a quiet conversation. Prices are in line or slightly above the norm for the area. Main courses run between $20 and $30, appetizers around $14, and a pint of domestic draft $8.50. Parking can be an issue even during weekdays, with the Spencer Park lot almost always full, and the paid (free after 6pm) parking on Elizabeth Street usually full until the evening, and too far for wheelchair access.

Went for brunch this morning at the Pepperwood Bistro. We ordered mimosas to drink which were fine but small for $6.95 each. I had the Thai Peanut Salad and my friend ordered the crab cakes. Service was pleasant but painfully slow in spite of the place being only half full. The greens on the Thai salad were at least a week old, yellowing and wilted and few in number. Basically, my salad was a plate of chopped up cabbage. Cannot imagine what sort of chef would dream of letting that leave his or her kitchen. My friends crab cakes tasty but not warm enough. We ordered coffee which took forever to come and tasted warmed over rather than fresh. And the cup was dirty! My bill with 15% tip was $32.29 and so not worth it. I'm loath to give a really negative review to any restaurant but this place has certainly earned it.

The waitress was very kind, however a lady who worked there was very rude towards me and my friends. My friends ordered 2 pizzas which had pork on it (we don't eat pork due to religious prohibitions ), we were unaware of the fact because it did not say that on the menu. The lady who brought it to the table was being extremely rude and giving attitude because we were confused why that was brought to us. She did not let us speak and was saying "THE NAME HAS PORK IN IT", like how are we suppose to know that its not in english. She was not kind at all and making it seem like its a huge deal to let us reorder.

At first glance, it appears as it's causal fine dining kind of place, and it's certainly priced that way. However, it isn't. The lobster poutine I would say was good, but overall the food is just OK. They're also a brewery, but their beers are rather mediocre. There are plenty of other beers on tap, so I'd suggest going with those.

Horrible Service, we watched for two and a half hours people being served before us. Two taller before our drink order was taken.we sat first. Tables were completely finished before we even got our meal. I found a plastic wrapper in my salad. We literally sat and waited to pay for 53 minutes. Went in to ask for debit, ad right out. We watched two more tables get served. And still nothing. Finally my pregnant friend got up to find someone other than our server ring her through. Flatbread was good, the one beer I had was fine since I was offered another. Fries were good. Salad would have been better sans plastic. After talking with others I hear that's a typical experience......slow bad service.

It was just pasta in a puddle of "cheese sauce" that tasted like water. Had to dump salt on it, and still didn't enjoy it at all. They also shoved us in the corner of the patio under these bright lights. Totally killed the vibe that we came there for. I think because we look young they assumed we didn't deserve a cool table. Sorry for the long rant but overall it seems like a nice place. I would go back.

Great location in Burlington, even in the winter. Fantastic view of the lake. We had the poutine as an appetizer which was quite enjoyable. Great fries and fantastic gravy made for a solid dish, and was more than enough for two of us. Our mains at lunch were a little lackluster. Pizza and salad was an enjoyable choice for my wife. The Pad Thai was more of a pasta dish that wasn't sure what it was. Good size and flavours, but not a pad thai at all. Had the Brown Monkey beer (I hope I got the name right), simple beer with a little bit of flavour.

First time here with a group of 8. Lovely location, and a very pleasant atmosphere. We had two servers that were also managing another large group behind us. They were friendly and attentive, and did the best the could while dealing with a slightly slow kitchen. The food was brilliant when it arrived, and the portions were huge... almost too big lol One gripe that didn't affect me, but my father-in-law, was that he had 2 rather long strands of hair hiding under his fish and chips. They did comp him that meal and his beer ???? I'd come here again no problem.

Great atmosphere and excellent service. Our server was professional and quite efficient. Food is a little pricey. They automatically charge 18% tip, but I believe that a tip needs to come from the customer not the restaurant. There was no AC and it was 30 degrees out. The server said that the AC was on but because of how hot it was it wasnt cooling. I'm not sure that I would come here again. I've tried it once and that's good enough. But you should still try it and definitely sit on the patio if available because its beautiful and by the water!

My god this place is fantastic. It caters to your inner being and your outer soul. The patio is exquisite, a place where you can see and be seen. Inside is a ballroom themed feeling accompanied by wine bottles galore. Private and defining, for all the moments with close family, friends and new business acquaintances. Pasta, this place is pasta, I had the Gnocchi Stroganoff and it was definitely a keeper. Chunks of prime rib beautifully sized. Surprise your date with an appetiser, I would suggest sharing the calamari and the dips. Everything is hand made. Pizza is great and light enough for 3. The staff is always ready when you order and they ensure quality, especially if there's a food allergy. Safest place to eat. My cap is tipped to the chef for keeping his team on task. There is NEVER a wait for a table or a fresh meal. Pepperwoods is Burlington.

Walked in to an empty restaurant on a midweek evening. Service was fine. Can't recommend the gnocchi stroganoff - diced prime rib was small hard cubes of beef, no sign of any sour cream which I expect in a stroganoff, the sun-dried tomatoes were often tough and unpleasant. I've read that the patio is nice, maybe that's enough to bring people in the warmer months. I didn't find the food enticing. I don't think we'll be back.

Wow.. Never had food that bad in my life. Had the calamari. Oily and tasted old. Then i had the fish and chips. Oily and you can see it was deep fried in old oil. The frys that came with it also tasted like they are fried in old oil. The place needs a good wash. The table was sticky. The light over table hadn't been wiped down since the day it was put in. You could see the dirt on it. Service was poor. Had about an inch of my iced tea left in my glass. So I asked for a refill. And she took my glass and came back with the same glass filled. Should have gave me a new glass of ice tea. Will never go there again..... .

Best thing about this place is the location and the patio with a view on the lake. Other than that the food is descent, but the servings are pretty small for the price. I like the interior, it’s cosy and clean. The service was pretty slow and inattentive even though the restaurant was almost empty then. Not a bad place to visit if you’re in town and the weather is nice. There are definitely better places in Burlington just not with such a great view, but perhaps with more soul.

I’ve been here a few times for the lunch special - half a pizza and Caesar salad (which was always a 5/5 both food and service). I returned a few days ago and we ordered a few items including a pepperoni & curds pizza. The waiter served us a PROSCIUTTO & APPLE pizza... we told him we ordered pepperoni, and he said “I must have pushed the wrong button.” Rather than make a fuss we told him we would try the one he mistakenly ordered for us so it didn’t go to waste. Unfortunately it was not good. We each ate one slice and left the rest. When he came over to clear the table we advised him we couldn’t eat it because we didn’t find it was very good. The waiter apologized profusely for messing up the order. To our surprise we were charged the full $20 for the pizza. Was just very disappointed in the customer service. But lesson learned.... next time don’t be nice and send the wrong pizza back.

I have eaten here several times and every time I feel...very underwhelmed. From the time my cheesecake came out with mildew all over it and the waiter said "oh, don't worry, we wont charge you. We don't make any of the desserts ourselves so it's really not our fault" to tasteless overcooked and dry burgers, steaks and seafood I have had here. I will not go again. I have given this place several chances over the last 3 years and I just keep being disappointed. Don't waste your money.

My husband and I had a booked a table through Open Table indicating it was an anniversary dinner. When we arrived we said we had a reservation and a disinterested young "lady" told us that the reservation didn't matter and whisked us away to our first choice of table which was a small table by the wine glasses and a couple of stacks of plates. We were then offered the end of a long row of tables by the kitchen. She did ask for the reservation name and she would check it off but didn't really sound that interested. My husband ordered mussels and was told by our very nice waiter that they were out of mussels and didn't the girl who showed us to our table let us know. My husband then opted for a burger. I order the lobster ravioli in a rose sauce. My order came - in a thick sauce with a drop of cream in it. Also, had chopped raw garlic and some garlic that had been boiled. A very disappointing meal. Especially when no mentioned was made of the anniversary. Also note that the divider between the row of tables was covered with dust with finger marks in it.

Food was very overpriced for what it was, I don’t mind spending that type of money for good food but I ordered s pizza and it was a frozen dough crust and canned tomato sauce. The pizza nova I had the night before was 10x better. The buffalo chicken sandwich we had also over cooked chicken and blue cheese so overwhelming that all you tasted was blue cheese. But all that aside because our service at the restaurant was horrible, the waitress came 2 time the whole dinner to our table we had to ration our water because she never came by, and when we told her we didn’t like what we were eating she avoiding coming back to our table for the rest of the dinner. SAVE YOUR MONEY don’t eat here and waste your time and money ...

I took my staff to the Pepperwood for Christmas lunch. I wish we had never gone. The food was horrific, the service mediocre and the management was so indifferent to all the problems, that nothing could redeem my review. My staff hated it, I hated it, and I could only wish that the current ownership and management move on. Bland, burnt, and boring food, do not waste your time, or, most certainly, your money. Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. and only 7 customers in the place. They had more staff than clients. Stay far, far, away.

My daughter and I drove by on Saturday, September 26. The patio was jammed! No social distancing at all! At two tables near the edge two gentlemen's chairs (separate tables) were back to back by about 1 foot. We had a party of 7 and they said they were unable to accomodate that size on the patio, when we arrived there were parties of 6 on the patio so adding another chair was definitely possible, especially since our reservation was made one week in advance. The seating inside was terrible and badly laid out. The beers and sparkling water were served warm and of all the items we ordered, the ravioli and calamari were amazing. Everything else was OK at best and the service was slow. Prices are low. 6 of us all ate and drank plus 5 apps and the bill was around 335$

We ordered a Christmas turkey dinner from here on Christmas eve to give it a try. I was told that it was a good quality restaurant, so our expectations were high. The turkey was good and juicy, but everything else (corn, carrots, dressing, and desert) did not taste very good, and many of us in the family would not even eat it. Review is based on beer and experience only! I didn’t order any food. The server was wonderful and very accommodating. However, our beers were slightly chilled - they were not cold! It was a bit disappointing. The patio set up is pretty nice and the live band was decent. Although the placed closes at 11pm (Thursday night), last call was 10pm which is pretty early. So that was also a bit disappointing.

Even on a Monday evening, the inside was quite full and a few people like ourselves were on the large patio despite threatening clouds. At first smell, I was happy we picked this spot to eat. The service was prompt bringing us the in house Pepperwood, one of half a dozen house beers. Our fish and chips and ravioli which followed were very satisfying and tasty (the amount of chips was ample to say the least). Afterward, we walked to the Brant Street Pier within view and along the boardwalk to the Millenium Time Capsule at the Joseph Brant Museum while the sun was setting. A lovely evening indeed! Several places nearby for coffee or ice cream as well.

Not ideal for take out. Their packing skills are awful; sauces should be in separate containers and not mixed with everything else. Ordered chicken supreme and steak. Chicken was just okay, sauce is a bit better. The steak was a CRIME; medium well turned to well done and it tasted like pork? Why? How? Oh curbside pickup is not easy either, we couldn't find a designated spot for a quick pick up. Very disappointed. Patio experience would be better but not great, too crowded.

We had a very strange experience here. We were seated by the bar (waiting for the patio) and the server who came over was much too friendly (slapping our backs, coming much too close for personal space) and then basically took 5 minutes with all of our IDs (we are in the 24-25 age range) and essentially implied they were fake though he could not prove it. Anyways he brought us our drinks but he made us feel very unwelcomed. Our service on the patio was much better however and our server there was incredibly friendly. Wow - job well done by Michael and his staff for helping me pull off my surprise engagement. Couldn't have it done it without the help of Michael, Ricky, Jessica and a couple other girls (whom I accidentally forgot their names). They gave me a private room, allowed me to hang a banner and bring in some of my own props. This was our first time at the restaurant all together so I didn't know what to expect. Food was amazing (especially the bruschetta). We will be coming back at least once a year now! Great atmosphere. THANK YOU

Visited Saturday for dinner res at 6:30 p.m. Food very good, nice atmosphere and music kicked in at 8:30pm and was quite good. Unfortunately the service was terrible! Very "grumpy" server! Was not impressed at all! Was our first time there and after spending $200 you would expect better service. She was not in a good mood obviously and quite "pushy" with attitude. offered to pack up food when still eating, came back after we requested a few minutes with a "..are you ready to order now.." comment?, asked for water never returned...argh. If you do not understand the customer pace you should not be in this business. We will try again but will definitely ask for different server!

It was not an experience, very mediocre food, poor service, and very dated atmosphere. If it wasnt your server dont expect any service from other team members. We just went there for brunch and they sat us right by the bar where servers were chatting and there was tons of table open, we asked to be moved and they put us in the back.

Decor is classic, red chairs, brass rails, warm and rich environment. Food is prepared individually and everything appears to be made with the intent of flavor and great presentation. Not many vegan options but balanced menu nonetheless. Mussel selection is super cool and good selection of craft beers on tap.

We are not thrilled about the experience we just had at Pepperwood. We eat there every few months and have always enjoyed it. Today we went as a group of 4 to celebrate a birthday lunch. Everything was all good until one of our guests received their salad with a hair right on top. Before the waiter even had a chance to walk away, we pointed it out to him. He was very embarrassed and apologetic and very nice. It wasn't his fault. He brought it back to the kitchen and the manager came out a few minutes later with a fresh salad and to apologize. He mentioned he took it off the bill. The hair was very off-putting for all of us but we could have looked past it and I wouldn't have written this review had it not been for something the manager said. He said "Nobody in the kitchen has hair". That comment was absolutely uncalled for. It was unnecessary, made us feel like he was implying it was our hair, and deflected responsibility. Not cool.

My wife and I had the Turkey in a Box for Christmas. It was outstanding!! Enough food for multiple servings and the instructions were spot on. The vegetables were fresh, the turkey moist, the stuffing was fabulous and the peach cobbler for dessert was amazing. The only thing i would like to see would be thinner slices of turkey. Otherwise, an amazing dinner and great value!!

Great meal and reasonable. Attended here with a group on the way to Burlington Performing Arts. They were able to get our dinner on time and checked out so we were on time for the show. We ordered from a large group special menu, everyone got what they ordered and I overheard many positive comments, including my wife who enjoyed her salmon dinner, my dinner was good too.

The service was good. The food was pretty tasty, I had the breaded calamari and my partner had a breaded chicken fillet on a bun. The portions were large. The only thing I would say is that I am pretty sure the breading had MSG in it and we both felt the effects of it afterwards. If you have an MSG sensitivity or intolerance you may want to ask your server if it will be in your order.

First time at this place for my wife and I on June 20/21. Patio was busy, but seated right away. Hosts were very accommodating. Liz our server was very attentive as we asked some questions. She made time to answer them all. Went with the crab cakes for shared appetizer, they were excellent. Mains was Chick Pea sand which with salad. Wife said excellent. I went with the half Margarita pizza, comes with caesar salad. It was amazing. amazing.

On Thursday, September 21, 2017, we had dinner at Pepperwood. The weather was gorgeous and breezy, so we ate on the patio. While the view of the lake and the colour-changing leaves were beautiful, it was incredibly noisy because of the traffic on Lakeshore Road. Throughout our dinner we heard cars beeping at each other. The dinner menu is lengthy but I was craving their turkey BLT wrap from their lunch menu. I was pretty disappointed when the server told me the kitchen refused to serve me anything from the lunch menu after she asked them for me. I understand if the kitchen isn't able to serve a lunch menu item at dinner. But really, were they actually unable to do so? It was just a wrap! Repeat customers and word-of-mouth reviews are crucial to restaurants so you'd think they'd try to please their customers within their abilities. I have eaten at many restaurants in my life where the kitchen has served me a lunch menu item at dinner. I ended up getting the braised short ribs over sweet pea risotto. It was delicious, however the short ribs were not as moist and tender as they should be. Once I cut off all the meat and mixed it with the risotto mix, they moistened. While this restaurant has potential to be great, I think there is a large area of improvement, particularly when it comes to customer service.

Called the restaurant a couple days before going and asked if they allowed dogs and was told they do and that they even accommodate them by giving them water. My family and I went, waited for a table, to then be told they don't allow dogs AFTER seating us, taking our drink orders, and giving my dog water. I would give this place zero stars if I could.

We were one of the first people in the restaurant. The waitress seated us in the back corner. It took the waiter 15 minutes to ask us for a drink, and 20 minutes to get a drink- which was coffee and water. We put our order in right away and told him we were had a show so we needed to eat. We waited for over an hour and never got our food. We were told over and over again it would be out soon but it never came. No apologies. People that were not there when he got there were all eating meals. Super diappointed and will never go back.

Visited on august 2nd for my wife's birthday. The hostess was very cranky and not friendly but the bad start did not deter us. Food was great and all enjoyed. The waitress was great , efficient and friendly. Serving a big group can be tough but handled it flawlessly. My niece is handicapped in a wheel chair and was treated fantastic. Went to this restaurant for dinner with friends I have an allergy which I made them aware of. There was a mix up and I had a reaction . No manager came to check on our table and charged us for the item. The next day I called back to talk to the manager about it he did apologize but said he didn’t think he needed to come over and he would get back to me the next day with a resolution. I never received a call or email. Disappointing bc they didn’t seem to take it seriously.

Lovely place with excellent food, ambience and service. It was like being exported to Italy. We ordered a margherita pizza and heritage salad and fish and chips.... The pizza was the best pizza I’ve ever had no less in taste to what’s served in Italy. The salad was so fresh too! The fish and chips were to die for!! We were served by Ricky; a bright friendly and warm person. We struck a conversation with her and we told her that we had moved from Montreal to Ontario a few years ago. Montreal is known for living well in terms of restaurants, food and clothing.. but after visiting this restaurant; I’d confidently say this place is no less. A definite must go!!! The interior of the restaurant is actually quite nice and has a good ambiance. The fact that this is one of the oldest restaurants in Burlington must meen that it has a good following.

After seeing Pepperwood advertise their Thanksgiving Dinner over the years I decided to try it. What a waste of money. The potatoes were not mashed as befits a turkey dinner with gravy but more smashed. I was also expecting the stuffing to be cooked inside the turkey. What we received for stuffing was an afterthought. It was simply wholewheat, yes I said wholewheat bread that was not the least bit stale cut in chunks with a few cranberries thrown in for good measure and a whole lot of shredded carrot which I think is the cheap way to go. I have never used carrot in stuffing and never will. There was a strange spice that I still cannot identify. I have tried many versions of stuffing over the years and this did not meet any standards for this traditional fare. The gravy was a gloppy mess as it had the consistency of tapioca pudding, it was even hard to stir. Again I could not recognize the spice used and can only say it did not come close to traditional gravy at all. There was supposed to be some sort of bread, I believe the ad stated white bread that never came. The vegetable medley was simply green and yellow beans and again lots of carrots. They looked as though they had been bought in the frozen section. The peach cobbler was just okay, the peaches were nice but the topping was doughy and bland. When I ordered the gentleman I ordered from told me people always said there is more than enough for 8-10 people and he was right. I had plenty of leftovers as nobody went back for seconds. A good amount of this meal ended up in the garbage which is why I am writing this review. For the money they are charging Pepperwood needs to raise their standards. Needless to say I will be cooking for my own turkey for Christmas.

Food was quite average, not worth the price in my opinion. I had the heirloom beet salad, and although I enjoyed it, it was quite small, not worth the $16 I paid for it. The service was interesting, our server came over every 10 minutes to ask if we were ok but left before hearing an answer. Because of this I was never able to get my drink refilled, and paying 3.75 for one single glass of pop is a little much. Patio was nice, but I do not think I'll be back.

Showed up on a whim at 630pm on a Saturday night. Was able to snag a table for two before it got super busy. And it did get super busy! Ordered quite possibly the biggest poutine I've ever seen in my life! It was good, but not the best ever. My wife got the shrimp tacos and enjoyed her meal. Service was great, atmosphere was nice. All in all, a pretty decent Saturday night out. .
