Enjoyed the food but unfortunately over priced instead of a regular place to eat it would be a once in a blue moon stop because of prices. They had fresh baked bread loafs but was shocked when i asked the price of a full loaf and was told 9 dollars ouch.

Honestly it was not good at all. First of all it a a cafeteria, you take your trays walk along and pick out what you want. A number of things listed on the menu were not available. What we did get was luke warm to cold. I like fresh hot food. There was nothing in flavour that was good, it was very mediocre at best.

Piri piri chicken was probably the best non tomato sauce based pizza I've ever had and I love pizza. The dough and crust is incredible. Everyone behind the counter is very friendly especially the girl who was running the til. 3 times i've been in now for a pizza for our family and she is always very friendly. Went there today (May 29, 2018) for the first time and was not impressed (hate to say). The soup was all watered down and with no taste. The chicken cutlet was not flavourable and the price was extremely high. Servers (Sara and Erica) were friendly enough but it did not help when the meal was not acceptable. Hopefully this is only a one time occurrence and the restaurant will improve.

I wanted to try Merced’s for lunch today, I order a piece of lasagna it was tiny the portion was so small I asked her for a second piece, it comes with bread and I picked up a drink as well. When cashing out it was $25, she took the payment and walked away, I was given or offered a bag to carry it in, I had no napkins and no utensils to eat it. Portions are to small, to expensive for what you get, and no customer service. On the plus it was still hot when I ate.

The pizza met my expectations, I’ve been seeing amazing pictures from locals getting takeout in a relatively new “support local takeout group”. I had high hopes for a delicious meal. I would definitely have the “Canades-eh!” pizza again. The crust was perfect, the sauce and cheese very flavourful. The toppings could be a little more generous, we didn’t have a lot of bacon on our pizza. I wouldn’t waste your time with the crispy calamari. It was a large portion but ours came severely undercooked. I had to bake it to finish cooking it. Even after that, it was tasteless with gobs of breading. I’m sure it came out of a giant bag that was frozen prior, it was definitely not made in house. The reason we ordered the calamari was because of the pictures on your Facebook page, it looked drool worthy; what we took home looked absolutely nothing like the pictures in the ads. It was highly disappointing to say the least. I was also underwhelmed by the Nutella Cheesecake. It’s expensive and just literally a plain cheesecake with a swipe of Nutella on the top. It wasn’t even artistic looking like most cheesecakes are nowadays. I had hoped it would be amazing but unfortunately it fell short. I do have a suggestion... update your phone system. I could barely hear you on the other end and I know you couldn’t hear me by how many times I was told this. It was extremely frustrating trying to order. I will probably take up valuable cell space on my phone to download your app so that I don’t have to deal with a call again. We will be back for the pizza (because it is delicious) and maybe try some wings next time.

Used catering for an outdoor cocktail style wedding reception at a private home. Food was fabulous! Waitstaff was wonderfully accommodating. Occasion was planned long distance so no opportunity to pretaste. Very pleased!

This is the cleanest and most modern kitchen I have ever seen, the pride the owner has in his restaurant is apparent everywhere you look. Pizza is really good and the Panzeroti is the best I have ever had. Love the take out boxes and the staff is always happy. Can't wait to try the weekly specials.

Good food in a cafeteria style setting with kept warm food on display. Menu is standard Italian fare like pasta, pizza and lasagna. I had the spicy pork loin sandwich, which was tasty but didn't hold together very well due to all the sauce. The side of kettle chips were very good.

I really, wanted it to be good. Just walking in it was confusing as to where to go and the trays were at an odd place. My husband ordered veal parmigiana and it was so overcooked he couldn't eat it. I ordered cheese pizza and it was raw in the middle. The salad was ok but not amazing. All to be extremely overpriced. For 2 people to eat lunch without drinks it was $40!!!! We WILL NOT be back!!!

Good food but WAY OVERPRICED.Attended party last night. Paid for buffet for 2 adults and pop. $80. Buffet was 3 items .. Dessert supplied by hosts. Will never go there again. Owner promised to bring glass of water to table..never did. No staff tended to our party. Don't waste your money on this restaurant.

Not a great first experience. 3 dinners were actually cold, not warm. The sauce on the pasta, seemed like they opened a can and poured it on top. The server wasn't very pleasant. The highlight of the meal was the fresh bread and the gelato. Very expensive for what we got. Didn't satisfy the craving at all.

My wife and I had our son's baptism celebration @ Mercasa and we had the dining room booked for almost 30 people. It was absolutely perfect, from the food, the service, the ambiance, and the space. The kid's especially loved the Gelato, and it was just a great place to have a family function. Tom and his staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and a few other family members from out of town were thoroughly impressed and even booked some catering. I would highly recommend for similar functions, xmas parties, etc. Tom will take the time to get to know you and even customize meals around food allergies. +++

Being born and raised in Montreal, I experienced a high level of Italian culture my entire life. When I moved to Brantford close to 10yrs ago, I'm not going to lie, but it was somewhat of a culture shock. With Mercasa now being in Brantford and allowing me to enjoy authentic Italian food is so comforting. I explain it as "nostalgia in every bite". From the arancini, to the hard crusted authentic italian bread (for anyone who knows, you KNOW the crust is so important), to the homemade melt in your mouth gnocchi (that are cooked perfectly), to the authentic Bolognese sauce... it hits home on so many levels. From the moment you walk into Mercasa, you truly feel like you are getting the authentic Italian experience; there's hype, there's ambience, there's beautiful aromas...truly a "little Italy Eatery".

Meh Heard good things, all I got was highly over priced pizza, nothing special. Very similar to Little Caesars but 5x the price. While waiting for our pizza, noticed the manager/owner?¿ yelling at his staff and barking orders cause the oven was beeping for ten seconds straight. As a parent, I would hope for my children not to work for such a self entitlement manager. If I could give a negative review, I would.

Much better than most slices I've had in nearl ten years in Toronto! That's five years at Yonge and Finch and another five years at Yonge & Bloor. Line 1 all the way folx! Anyhow, go Brantford! Support local. Let's give these folx a try. Great taste and quality dough sauce was nice and rich. This little eatery is a slice of Italy. Mercasa's concept is different from the standard restaurant. There's a pre-selection of menu items for you to pick and choose as you build your order. Yes, the food is pre-made; however, it's fresh and hot. Not to mention, the prices are quite reasonable! They have just enough options to satisfy your cravings for lunch, dinner, or dessert. You do take out or dine in as they have a nice seating area available for customers. Mercasa offers quality Italian food; accompanied by friendly and sociable staff.

First experience and order from this restaurant about two weeks ago. We had been following a fb eat local food group and decided to give them a shot. Sooo happy we did. We have had it 3 times now in 3 weeks. Pizza is light and fluffy, bread is hot crusty and soft in all the right places and their garlic focia bread I can eat for days. So good.

I've ordered there 3 times: the first time we paid for an extra topping and didn't get it (it barely had any of the normal toppings either), the second time it was awesome!! And the third time the pizza was super undercooked. However, The doe used is awesome, the sauce is great and the toppings to. Not sure if we just got unlucky twice or not. Hopefully next time it's better...

On this day June18 I sent my friend, a few mins ago (who was visiting me from for my birthday) to your establishment to buy birthday lunch for us. I did try calling twice before making this review but no one answered either time. When my friend came back to my apartment and opened her Caesar salad all the lettuce was brown and wilted making it unedible. She purchase 2 slices of pepperoni, 4 pieces of the Chicken Alfredo and 2 slices of the Mulberry pizza and a garden salad to the tune of $49.16 (!!!!!) The Chicken Alfredo pizza had very little sauce and 1 small piece of chicken - was like eating a day old sandwich. I recommended she order from you because of the reviews I have read but I am totally embarrassed for my friend because she was trying to do something nice for me .In the future I will never recommend your place to anyone ???????? First time visit, only had the pizza. Great slice selection and they were absolutely delicious. Amazing dough with right amount of crunch on the outside and so soft and tasty on the inside. Ingredients were top notch, amazing cheese and pizza sauce. I had 2 slices. One with cheese, basil and tomato sauce and the other one was a white pizza (no sauce) with thinly sliced potato and cheese. ???????? The hot table had selection of pasta, pork loin, pulled pork and a few other items that looks so good. I’m not from Brantford but will return next time I’m in town.

The Tuesday special Chicken Parm wasn't very good the edges were burnt and for a so called "Italian" restaurant the food had no pop or zest. The food tasted like it was from a regular restaurant I was totally unimpressed 3 out of 10 !

On your first visit, you must try one or all of the Roman Pizza's. Then, get a take home of the CR7 plus a square of the Eggplant Parmesan Lasagna. You will be blown away with the bold, succulent Italian cuisine and all scratch prepared in-house under the supervision of the talented Chef Tom. Just happened to be in the area and stumbled upon this little gem. Great atmosphere, super friendly staff and the pizza is to die for! We also had the spaghetti and meatballs, reminds me of my nonna’s cooking, true authentic Italian. I will definitely be back.

Served with very good meatballs and provolone on a rustic bread. Home made chips accompany. This sandwich beats any commercial sandwich shop out there, in my opinion. The staff is friendly. Decor is unassuming, but don't let that stop you from visiting this little gem. As the before and after pics show...... excellent.

It's a little different than most people are used to. Almost a eat in / take out cafeteria. It Just like a few places we ate at in Rome. The pizza is addictive and again Just like what had in Rome. Let's not forget true Gelato. Not cheap but worth it.

It was an important night... 30th wedding anniversary for my wife and I. I was not able to take her out for a special dinner of course because of Covid, we were trying to decide on the perfect take menu, we had just watched an inspiring interview with the owner on face book with Joshua Wall about his restaurant and decided on Mercasa's, called and talked to the owner himself and he had suggested an ideal meal for us, it was absolutely delicious , we were glad we ordered from them for our 30th. Best part is that there was so much food in a dinner for two that the leftovers fed us the next night great job, and thanks, can't wait to try the pizza , I hear it is amazing , Brad and Karen

So happy to find this place. Brantford really needs it. The food is excellent you can tell the use and select fresh ingredients. I love the fact you can just order pick things up and find a table. You don't have to wait for someone to take your order or be seated at a table. I find their daily specials excellent. Been there several times I've never been disappointed. PS make sure you check all the gelato it's the best in the city.

Just stopped by Mercasa for the first time cravin some pizza. Man, i grabbed one slice and I wish i grabbed more. The pizza was amazing, so much flavour, the dough was perfect and i enjoyed every bite. I also tried a Portuguese tart and it was delicious as well! Ordered the chicken parmigiana with a side order of garlic bread. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the breading was seasoned with a perfect light crunch. I think the garlic bread was the best I've ever had. The bread was fluffy and clearly made fresh. Perfect amount of garlic and cheese on a full sized baguette. Not one complaint, I will definitely be returning.

Mercasa catered our wedding this past Saturday for approx 110 guests here in Hamilton. From the beginning, everything went great. Tom helped us plan our menu to include everything we wanted. We met with him several times to go over everything in detail and sample the menu. He was always available by email which was great. We started our evening with the antipasto buffet which was stunning. We had so many compliments from guests stating it was the best they’ve ever seen with lots of variety of meats, cheeses, breads, etc. The serving staff looked so professional and were welcoming guests with hors d'oeuvres. The goat cheese/ jam/ puff pastry was our favourite! We had our dinner buffet style and had the lasagna, panko chicken, shrimp skewers and vegetables. It was served hot and on time. The staff served the buffet which went quick so all 110 guests had their dinner within 15 minutes. Everything was delicious- the lasagna and chicken were the best I’ve ever had. On tables we had family style salad and bread with garlic butter- a perfect compliment to the buffet dinner. Clearing the tables happened right away and the staff replenished water when needed. Our late night table had a variety of gourmet pizzas and porchetta paninis. The porchetta and buns were fresh and cooked to perfection. His specialty pizzas were everyone’s favourite. This was all beyond our expectations. I would trust Mercasa with any event and will definitely be going to them again in the future.

A friend and I ventured out for a business lunch today and decided to try this venue. It was clean and friendly. The idea is fresh food served cafeteria style and then you can either take out to eat at home or on the run; or in the restaurant. There were two choices of pre-made salad (NOTE:as a Celiac client, if the croutons were in a separate container I would have purchased the Caesar salad). Then the overflowing selection of interesting drinks, plus they are licensed!

If you love pizza you got to try this place. Been searching for a great pizza place in Brantford and finally found one. Its a Roman style pizza with crust that is light and airy with a buttery taste. The regular size is enough to feed 4 adults. I would recommend the Seba or Canades-EH. Love the concept and the pizza way gourmet and amazing.. had the meatball sandwich and the home made chips..again fabulous..must try for lunch or some gelato

We hired Mercasa for our wedding reception and they were extraordinary. Get ready for a long review: They put together a beautiful and massive antipasto spread for our guests during cocktail hour and their service staff brought around Italian-inspired hors d’oeuvres later in the night, which were so delicious that people were asking for for more! We also had a full service bar! All in all, the food was perfect and the service team was amazing! The owner (Tom) is top notch too! He’ll help you come up with a vision for your evening and he is so flexible with whatever you’d like. Highly recommended!

I've been fortunate enough to go to Italy on multiple occasions, and I made sure to "research" the food to see how it stacks up. Mercasa is fantastic, truly, and utterly. Brantford is not known for its worldly cuisine, but Mercasa stands to be one of the few for offering phenomenal food in a town dominated mostly by cheap, greasy fast food joints and sub shops. You don't need to spend thousands of dollars on a plane ticket to grab a slice of pizza that you would expect find in a Roman cafe just past the Trevi Fountain. It's all right here. They catered for the Toronto Raptors, and they catered for the Prime Minister, and I think that alone can show you how good the food here is.

Ordered the Spuntini Sample box. This box contains house made chips, deep fried arancini balls, chicken wings (we ordered buffalo blue cheese flavor), sliders, and mac and cheese. We were definitely not disappointed. The chips were crispy and perfectly seasoned. The arancini balls were flavorful and fried to perfection. The chicken wings were large, cooked well and full of flavor. The sliders were super cute and super delicious. Lastly, the mac and cheese was cheesy and was topped with little pieces of bacon. It was a great mix of different foods, good portions and was a great price. I highly recommend.
