The soup and sandwiches here (and the potato salad) are exactly what you'd like for a nice, classic lunch. The service can be slower when it's busy, but overall a really delicious place to eat. I recommend treating yourself to a lemon bar while you're at it!

I would give this hashery 0 stars, if I had the endowment to do so. Notwithstanding their tender vittles were free from obscenity and we were quite fond of the palatableness. Our serving wench Moira, who very well may have transpired to be masquerading as the dark lord Lucifer was another matter. She treated us like common peasants irrespective of our distinguishable affluence. Alas! As I was the preeminent tactician of said assembly's conjuncture (an associates prenuptial memorialisation), I was tasked with finding an eatery that would suffice to our discriminating tastes as well as pre-ordering our nourishment for this exclusive happening. I first rang the overseer of said establishment, Megan. She was quite cordial as well as a virtuoso of her chosen occupation. The woman familiarized me to conduct my transaction via my handheld interweaving networking doohickey, to correlate a list of dishes to be consumed, as well as procured and contractualize the appraisement expenditure. This is where we were fortunate enough to persevere an encounter with Moira, Mephistopheles in the flesh! She was hospitable and accommodating at the commencement of our milestone celebration (I'm willing to give credence to the she-beast's ability to seduce us henceforth into a quagmire of complacency upon our first arrival). As mentioned in my prior proclamation, the sustenance provided was satisfactory and arrived post-haste. However, this is when we began to discern that there may be something sinister and evil lurking within Moira the serving wench, (But alas this won't be realized until our contract was subjected to the scrutiny of my peers). Being that we pre-ordered with our doohickeys and as a matter of fact our cumulative expenses were cited and contractualized in days of yore, we finished our rations and compensated the hashery. Unbeknownst to us. upon returning to our duties at the institution for the physically sick, we soon substantiated, that Moira falsely inflated our encumbrance. We have now concluded that she is obviously a parasitic lanspresado. The she-beast made off like a highway man in the night with our hard-earned Ducqets! Moira would later claim that the doohickey network's bill of fare was outdated, but the subsequent IOU indebted to our credit establishment was already grossly over-charged. I spend my days curing the four humors, my appendages elbow-deep in medical leeches! Only to be bereaved of my finances by the devil herself! It had come to light that Moira had added an 18% Gratuity to our assemblage of 19 personage, as well as added a "Demon-itized" tax of 2 Ducqets per head. Upon hearing of such a devious act. The assertive one they call Yfruk, a Caribbean voodoo princess, who's splendour, grace and exquisiteness is only out matched by her prowess in the art of voodoo, charms and emphatic incantations, was summoned by thy sanitarium's overlord "the wise one", to take swift, grievous revenge upon the insidious hashery. Unfortunately, Yfruk was met by a devil wearing the flesh of a human. She underestimated the demon's prowess and magical ability to prevent one from getting a word in edgewise. Then out of nowhere, a half-man half-woman creature known only as the "Maître d" emerged scented in a cloud of Drakkar Noir. The evil was powerful in this creature (speaking in a guttural yet nasally reverberation). Yfruk was shown the door with a simple incantation of "If you don't like our eatery, there's the door girlfriend! You're welcome to depart and never return! byeeeee...". All that being aforementioned, I implore future personage tempted to partake in this hashery's cuisine to beware of the she-beast Moira and the half-man half-woman Maître d! Their evil thieving ways know no bounds!!! They may alleviate you of your currency if serious attention is not given to the bill of fare. Perhaps, you may even lose your soul via the succubus Miora and the one known as the "Maitre d".

I like the Mediterranean salad with added chicken. The prices here range from $11 (for say lasagna) to $30 (for quality steak or lamb). I get the same thing every time I go but my partner is a big lasagna fan and has also tried a few other dishes. They have all been very good so far. Also, when you order something with chicken, you get lots of chicken. Adding a chicken breast to your meal gets you the WHOLE chicken breast unlike most places where you pay $3-4 for a few lousy strips. Lots of food, healthy options and tasty. Yes, the place is rather noisy, they should consider adding some upholstery curtains or decorative wall hangings to adsorb the noise but it's nice, clean and comfortable. If a quiet conversation is your priority, call ahead and reserve a booth, they are quieter. There are very few badly behaved children here and I have yet to see any running around or shrieking which is very nice. The service is good and the prices are fair, they also have some interesting specials from time to time. I like that it's charming, has good food at reasonable prices and serves a generally calmer clientele, makes a meal more peaceful. It's exceptionally wonderful between meal times because it's much less noisy.

Truthfully I don't think we tried the star dishes here... My sandwich was good but not amazing Turkey was kind of bland but the rest of the ingredients were really nice and fresh, coleslaw was really nice. My husband was a bit disappointed with his French onion soup because the bread was not soaked in and it wasn't baked with the cheese on top. But the desserts look amazing. And I liked the vibe and service so I would definitely give it another go. Edit: revised my review to 5 stars after trying their dessert. It 100% made up for any of our disappointments earlier. We had a chocolate cheesecake and it was literally the best cheesecake I've ever had.

My husband and I were walking around the area and saw this cafe and decided to grab a bite to eat. We were repulsed by nearly everything we experienced. Our waitress was quite nice but other than that everything we saw was awful. The food was not the greatest either, extremely bland. Neither of us finished our plates as the dish soap which the plates were washed with had more flavour than the actual food. When I walked over to view the desserts which I was hoping were better than the meal, the manager ( or I believe) was speaking to her staff horribly. Blaming things on them and I believe it is completely wrong. Due to the way she was treating her staff we did not even order any desserts. Although they looked nice, I cannot support any business where an authority figure talks down on her staff like that. Unbelieveable.

Amazing place! Almost fine dining at a very cheap price. They had a really amazing menu that was suitable for I think almost pretty much every single diet. I ended up having their crab cake salad. While it wasn't as filling as I had hoped it was a very decent portion. And the crab cakes actually had decent portions of crab where you taste the meat. Their Bakery portion was also pretty amazing. Server Sarah was awesome.

Used Upper Crust catering for a covid wedding. Food arrived on time, hot and individually wrapped for each guests. Most importantly, we had so many compliments on the taste. We offered a choice of greek chicken and the pork back ribs. Both dinners were amazing. Definitely will use Upper Crust again.

I understand that the economy makes it difficult for all businesses, especially the restaurant industry - however, though we still frequent there at a few times per month, the ingredients used in offerings seems to have 'cheapened' relative to even 12 months ago. The primary staple in dine-in, and **especially take out, seems to be "rice" - which is cheap to use I get it... Before their take out used to have a lot of baby potatoes (which given the economy may not be ideal for their budget)... then over time it became more mashed potatoes (again economical) and rice... now more rice (albeit different types.. but rice is rice). Their takeout pasta dinners as well seem 'basic' relative to past offerings.... again, good for the restaurant's budget but charging an additional $1-$2/ dinner to the consumer... Other boutique res such as Vi's for Pies increased the same for cost, but maintained the level of offerings and accompaniments to dishes instead of taking the cheap route... Soups as well seem to be more rice based, as options to substance... And frozen desserts have gone up in price, though the exact same... Re: dining in, some staff don't seem as happy as before... nothing to do with COVID just treatment , some say on the side it's just that more is expected of them but the amount of shifts are not the same and the workplace environment may have deteriorated a bit re: sharing the load... Again, the economy is to blame... in part... but it would be good to have back the same quality/ level of offerings...

Good food for sure, and super nice atmosphere. However the service was just really bad. Waiter was nice but barely visited our table and it was not busy at all. Took 20 mins to distribute our bills. Our usual 1.5-2 hr dining time was just over 3 hours. I would not come back maybe order take out.

Another excellent meal followed by dessert here. My only criticism of this restaurant is that the acoustics can make this place very, very loud when it's busy. Other than that I can say all of my experiences here in the past 10+ years have been positive. Gourmet meals and home made desserts that are fabulous. This place is on my short list of great lunch spots. Never seems to be a wait to be seated, but maybe I'm just lucky.

Just got their catered Christmas dinners... As far as I could tell the meat options seemed fine, they all came with sauces and seemed satisfying. My vegetarian meal was unseasoned rice with an unseasoned steamed stuffed pepper with some cheddar on top. I would not order their catering for any event where someone is vegetarian, kind of put a damper on the evening when everyone else got a nice meal.

A very well kept cafe, with much more to offer than just crust! This charming setting has everything from take home frozen lasagna to delicious sandwiches made fresh to order. I used to come here a lot when I lived close to the University. I was driving by and came in during Covid. They made the front part of the store into a local grocery store. They give you rolls with butter to start, and I ordered the Thai curry dish. The food was delicious, but the service could have been better (I waited for a while to get my bill before just going up to the counter, which shouldn't have happened). I got a slice of the chocolate raspberry cake to go, and unfortunately I thought it was unpleasant... It didn't taste much like chocolate and had a strange salty oily taste to the icing. Maybe it was a bad cake day.

Wow Edmonton you are soo blessed. I have enjoyed gastronomical delights all around the world and this certainly tales the cake. Quiet unassuming café on a somewhat dimly lit corner doesn't matter one iota. They could be in a back alley in any dark area and still be the best eatery anywhere. Compliments to the chef's, compliments to the waitstaff ,compliments to th owners who obviously care so much for their customers that they hire only the best. From the gentleman who greeted us at the door till we left it was like we were long lost friends/family and treated with unconditional warmth. My only regrets are that I never ordered more to take out, and hoping I tipped well enough for such a fantastic experience. Money very well spent. Thank you

Each time I've come to this place it has always exceeded my expectations. The chilli and the stew is always rich and full of flavour yet not completely overpowering, so it's not a battle with your own wits to get to the bottom of the dish. It may be that I'm always at the diner during a slow time, but the server is tentative to the table. And I must not forget that it has take out, giving way to ease and convenience. So I must say, it's a favourite of mine.

Over priced. $25.00 for all 3 small salads we bought. 2 were good. Greek salad was flavorless. You're better off going to a pizza place to get a decent Greek salad....learned my lesson, won't return. Good location though
