Excellent food, and I love browsing the artwork and unique, thoughtful gifts

Em Hornby

Best coffee in Hinton. A proud local business that supports the community through charity, local participation, and retail space for local artists. Much faster and friendly service than the Starbucks that moved in across the street.

Phillip Heyes

Delicious smoothies and best sandwich I've had in a long time (I picked the 7 grain bread, crab salad, and all the toppings). Really friendly service. Highly recommended.

Chelsea McDougall

Fast and friendly service. We had a wrap and pannini. Fast, fresh and good tasting. The cauliflower w/cheese soup was smooth and flavorful. Also probably one of the best London Fogs I've had. Even if you are only driving though its a great place to stop for lunch

Eric 't Mannetje

Oh my this place is grand. The Golden fog was such a unique yet tasty drink. Nice young guy helped us out and we left with a hella hearty breakfast wrap for the road. Lots of cute stuff to check out inside the shop too.

Nik ki

Great place with homy atmosphere! Good coffee and desserts (cheesecake is unreal) but the food could use a bit more flavour.

This place gets 5 stars just for being cute! ...But really its the drinks, food and treats that really make the old grind special. The service is fantastic and It's a nice place to go catch up with friends!

Rachelle Roberto

Absolutely loved this little place. The local art was great to see, and the food was fantastic. That bread! So yummy. Thank you!

This is the BEST coffee shop in Yellowhead County and beyond. Even better than any in Jasper! The staff is friendly and kind. It is immaculately clean, and COVID-19 aware. The preferred place of people living in the area. They also support local crafts and artists...

Krystal Elder

Awesome local art for sale (or just to look at while you enjoy good food). Had their specialty cabbage salad. The giant cinnamon buns looked amazing but I didn't have room. Next time. ** Update for 2020: Sadly the cinnamon buns are only available on Wednesday and Saturday so I missed out again but had the BEST veg sandwich and latte. The 7 grain bread and whatever sauces and toppings (especially the pickles!) were incredible!

Was driving on the way from Jasper to Edmonton. Stopped here for a cup of coffee and a bite. Ordered a cinnamon bun and a pie. Food was okay. Lovely place.

Sayali Dhaliwal

An amazing array of gluten free foods for my husband. So impressed with all the food. We will be back!

Stopped by here today on our way through Hinton. The gentleman working was more than happy to help us despite it only being a couple minutes before closing time which I know can be annoying when you're the one working and getting ready to close up for the day. We grabbed a couple of coffees and a ginormous chocolate chip cookie to go, all of which were delish. Service was excellent. Nice big seating area, very cute and cozy atmosphere, and a back section with all sorts of signs and cute decor items for sale. We'll definitely make a point of stopping by the next time we are in the area.

Mike Smith

Very relaxed place. Good coffee. Have some local handcrafts. Portion a bit small and not cheap.

Yang Yu

Met a colleague for a morning meeting. Had a London Fog and an omelet. Both were very good and reasonably priced for a niche coffee shop.

Ryan Kostel

Super disappointed. Go elsewhere and save your money if you are thinking of getting a sandwich. I got a breakfast bagel and build your own sandwhich. Total came to $16. The bagel sandwich was terrible. They obviously just microwave their sandwiches which makes the eggs a poor texture, and both the egg and bacon was overcooked. And this basic sandwich is not even close to worth what i paid.

My go to lunch time spot! Sandwiches, coffees, desserts, soups are so yummm! Good job team old grind ????

Whenever we stop in Hinton, the Old Grind is our food place. Even if you just go in for (the world's best) carrot cake, you will walk away ecstatic. Eating one now and can easily attest that this is the best carrot cake I have ever had (sorry grandma). My partner and I got two - we have one left and I don't want to share it... going to have some problems here. Don't let that deter you though. Seriously. Go get two. Or five, we don't judge. (Great place to eat when hungry. Portions are packed!!)

The folks working here are absolute gems and you can tell they’re truly happy and smiling, even under a mask! Some of the best lattes I’ve ever had the pleasure of drinking and honest prices too! Delicious baked goods and sandwiches! Absolute gem for dietary restrictions too! Super well trained staff and they truly make the place feel super laid back and relaxed, kinda like going to your buddies place for brunch and lattes pre-pandemic. 10/10 would highly recommend Definitely going to be a regular :)

Melissa W

Great coffees and tasteful breakfast/lunch snacks for a reasonable price

macky lizardo

Happened to find this place after getting stuck on the wrong side of Highway 16 due to flooding. They were very welcoming and accommodated a group of thirteen with several tables. Food was fresh and good. You can tell they take pride in what they do! Thanks for not kicking us out even after closing! Great coffee!

Brett Walker

Just Great!

Wonderful, quiet Cafe in Hinton. I chose to camp here for a bit before heading out on the Alaskan highway. Really enjoyed the egg salad sandwich and coconut mocha. Service was very good and they gladly cleaned my reusable coffee mug and topped off my water bottle. Highly recommended.

Teri Madden

Amazing food and love the lemon lavender tea they have there.staff is very friendly and Carl and his wife are amazing and friendly and outgoing

Abigail Martin

Hit the spot for fresh, healthy food on a long road trip. They were very accommodating of our baby, who needed a break from the car and made a bit of a mess with his meal. Will definitely make this our regular road stop, we were happy to discover!

Ethan Gillese

The best place to get a morning fix. Delicious wraps and scones.

Brian Swille

Sandwich was great. Friendly staff.

Phil Jacobs

Delicious flat whites. Reminds me of Australian flat white. Always consistent.

Jeffrey Newton

Excellent coffee and great omletes. Good and friendly service. Lovely, warm atmosphere. Good for coffee anytime and yummy breakfast.

Heather Rombough

Love it here!!!! ???? always great food and service. Thanks so much ????

Always friendly. I stop in almost everytime I'm in Hinton.

Chuck Horne

Great atmosphere, handcrafted drinks and homemade food - doesn't get any better than that!! One of my favourite spots to hang out when I'm travelling to Hinton.

Jake “Willis” Allin

Visited on a Saturday mid-morning and enjoyed an excellent mocha with a delicious and very large cinnamon bun. The cafe looks so cosy - can't wait to sit down in it - featuring work from local artists for sale and pretty books and stationary. Highly recommend a visit.

Emryssa Innes

This is my favourite coffee shop, anywhere. Going here is an experience. Great coffee, food and more. Their gift shop upstairs is always cool to check out. Every time we travel through BC we religiously stop here, both directions. Stop by, have some food and drink, take a look around, you won't regret it!

Andrew Elegante

Amazing ....service , food quality and checking for vaccines ! Safe comfy and beautiful space. Friendly staff , beautiful local art displayed. Will be back !! Quality all around

Meh. Was genuinely wanting to love this place.. But the service fell flat, coffee was mediocre. Cute town, cute street, place is aesthetically pleasing...i wanted more from it.

Chelsey Minor

Was so great to find this place one trip going through Hinton, they make the lunch raps per order , the coffee was amazing, the rice crispy squares like home made. Prices very good too. And don't forget to check out the art work at the back from local artists. Its just off the highway at the same exit as Starbucks, but up one block on the right, lots of parking even with a RV.

Mahdi Choudhury

Stopped in today for a quick lunch. It was amazing as usual homemade soup and a tasty chicken club sandwich. If you have a sweet tooth the cinnamon buns or raspberry white chocolate scones are super tasty. Mel and Carl always have a smile on When you walk in great lunch spot!

Kate F

Lovely place with all delicious home made specialties and food. Very friendly staff. Great for breakfast, lunch or tea. Check their website for day specials. Best place in town!

Wanda Schneider

Cute cafe, our favorite stop on the way to Jasper. Good coffee, good food (salad and sandwiches) and treats! Also lots of art or gift options. Staff are very nice. And very COVID safe.

Dave Foraie

Overall it is cozy with loads if selection and beautiful artwork. I prefer to support local and would like to bring my family here. My London Fog was delicious. Next was the Golden broccoli and cheese soup. $7.00 for a small bowl! Very disproportionate in my opinion. And it was pretty much cheese soup with a dash of broccoli. Served with a chewy tasteless bun. One of the servers was also quite rude, when I asked for a spoon she told me to go get it myself. Charming.

What a great way to start my morning. We really appreciate a good cup of coffee and we found a rare gem here in Hinton. Will be back, highly recommend. Great coffee, great baked goods and great service.

BEST CARROT CAKE IN THE WORLD

Darren Hunter

Pretty yummy soup and buns

Cammy Carignan

The raspberry scone pastry was unreal and the granola bar was whack delicious, and the service was excellent thanks Jess! (I think) :)

Susan Ackerman

The quiche Lorraine was delicious!! The banana Italian soda was great and fizzy. Dropped in on the way to Jasper. The service and the food made it worth the detour! Highly recommend

Natasha Tymchuk

Nice coffee shop with pottery and other gifts on display for sale. Friendly service, and salad plus other snacks offered. The coffee was a little bitter for me but my husband liked it

Tyler Bulmer

Great little upbeat cafe. Very homey feeling and great drinks.

Spencer MacDonald

Breakfast wrap was very tasty until I found a long hair in my second half so I did not finish it. Partner finished it for me stating he doubted there would be any more hair…ugh. Partner’s scone was not fully cooked through and he had to ask the apparently new employee THREE times for his coffee. We waited, but were never offered a coffee or hot water refill so I finally went to the counter to ask. Nice, clean place with cool art for sale, but please consider hair nets and work on better customer service. Masks were worn by staff and were asked to show covid vaccine proof and photo id.

Murphy McIntosh

Really good food, and dark, heavily roasted, coffee. If you're thinking of stopping in Hinton, you should stop here.

Jason Lauder

Drive the extra minute off the highway past the Starbucks to get your drink at The Old Grind. I ordered a dirty chai latte with a white chocolate raspberry scone, the portions were large and delicious.

Becki Graham

Super friendly service and the drinks were good. Service was a bit slow. All the food looks really good so would love to go back and try.

c stanford

This place is AMAZING! Their coffee is SO good! Best breve I’ve had in a long time, and the raspberry white choc scone beat most I’ve tried from coffee shops(I’ve tried a lot). Not to mention they are very friendly, and fast service. I love stopping at small local places, this here is a gem. ????

jacq zakal

I love going to the old grind on my lunch breaks! They have the most amazing food. I have never been disappointed. The owners are so friendly and Carl makes the BEST cold brew coffee!

Tarcisus Ho

Make your own sandwich was great and perfectly grilled. The ambience is super cozy. Hot chocolate was a little more on watery side.

dp dp

Always stop here when passing through Hinton and haven't been disappointed yet.

Paul Gauthier jr.

We usually stop here on our way to the mountains. We usually just grab coffee and baked goods. This time we tried their breakfast bun. It was huge! Served on a fresh bun, it's more like an omelette inside. It's full of veggies and meat. The melted cheese on top is a great finishing touch. Delicious!

EJ

Friendly staff, taking all precautions for covid which is great to see. Lovely atmosphere and music choice. Makes a good cup of coffee and snack!

We stopped by for breakfast and had the meat-less breakfast bagel and meat-less breakfast bunwhich which were great. Lovely cafe atmosphere with plenty of seating and a cute shop area.

David Smith

Just got home from attending the Hinton and District Chamber of Commerce Business Awards Gala ...and The Old Grind catered the event for over 400 people! Fantastic food, presentation service and quality..locally owned and operated cafe and catering business. Well done to Melanie, Carl and all the server's tonight...you did a stellar job ????

Chelsy Henderson

Was pretty disappointed after seeing all the reviews. Went in the morning and wasn't the friendliest of service. As well took like 15 mins to make my drink, and it was okay nothing special.

Jenn Quinn

The food here has never disappointed , although I almost asked for a refund today. It took 35 minutes to walk in get a latte and a pre made snack to go. I know the service industry is in the news lately , maybe it’s time we had better paid and better trained employees after all.

Colton Boutin

This is a fantastic place to go to for breakfast or brunch. Their menu is extensive and they are willing to customize your orders. Their food is well priced and quite filling! The staff is very kind and welcoming. The atmosphere is typical of a cafe, relaxing and the numerous paintings hung throughout its walls add a sense of artsiness to the place. These paintings gave my girlfriend and I some nice things to look at while we were eating. I feel that this is the sort of cafe that acts as the cornerstone of the community. I would definately come back here if I am in the area!
