Food portions were decent and selection was great. Food was better than expected. We got there a little past the lunch hour so it was nearly empty, but the staff still had all of the selection. I did take a bit to get our order in, but nothing to really complain about. Being first timers, it gave us a chance to browse the menus.

I ate here because of convenience the first time... and have since brought friends and my wife a few times since it was so delicious. Servings are large, the variety is good and ALL of the meats were 8/10 or better. Beef barley soup was fantastic. Atmosphere is very casual and homey - friendly and helpful staff. I feel guilty that I've tried 2 other nearby BBQ places to compare, and they would all rank 1/5 stars by comparison. The only problem is their hours are limited, and since I don't work nearby, Saturday lunch is the only time I can make it.

The first time I went it was incredible! Brisket was amazing. Ribs were a little dry and overcooked, but still tasty. Cornbread was still warm and moist. Mac n cheese I highly recommend. Not a huge fan of the potatoes or the other sides. The second time I went it was not so great. They had run out of brisket, ribs and Mac n cheese by noon. Pulled pork was ok but the bun was stale. Kind of expected a homemade bun with the price and quality they advertise. Very disappointed that they were out of mac n cheese and had to settle on bland mash potatoes. This time the cornbread tasted day old and was extremely dry and crumbly. Not too sure how to feel about this place now. I was really looking forward to a similar meal that I had the first time. I'd still recommend it, but I wish they'd find some consistency. Definitely get there early and before noon!

This place was fantastic, came here on a Wednesday for lunch. Probably the best BBQ place I’ve ever been to (granted I’m from Toronto). The food was amazing, everything tasted homemade and layered with flavour from the wing seasoning to the Mac and cheese to the gravy. To top it off, the lady helping us was the best and she made the experience so much more enjoyable; she was just radiating good vibes.

Best meal you can get in Nisku. Friendly staff, and enough meat to leave to struggling to avoid a meat nap! There are only two downsides for me; busyness & accessibility. If you come in late on a busy day, you may find all options are sold out. And getting there can be annoying as it's not easy to access when traveling from the east, it's a bit of a detour.

I was in Nisku and decided to try this place based on reviews and man am I ever glad I stopped in. The bbq is fricking delicious! I ordered the two meat combo of brisket and sausage and my two sides were mac and cheese and creamed corn. I have travel quite a bit for work and spent over two months in Houston and Tulsa on separate trips and tried all sorts of bbq. I can tell you Cookshacks brisket and sausage are on par with the top Southern bbq places I tried in the states. In my opinion their brisket is much better than Meat here in Edmonton as well. As mentioned previously the price is higher than what you might want to spend for lunch but look at my photo: their serving size is huge and is two portions of food! Highly recommend this place.

Nothing bad can be said about the servers and people working here but the food was a solid average. Had the brisket with mash and rice. Brisket was super cold and I've had better mash potatoes at Denny's.

Delicious food, great service, reasonable prices. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was SO good. Coworkers had the brisket and it also looked delicious. Portions are generous and sides are also tasty (try the mac n cheese). I especially loved all the bbq sauces available to try - there must be over ten different sauces and all the ones I tried were great. I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again if I'm ever in the area or to recommend this to others.

Walk up and have a look at the meats and sides, and off you go! Side table with a few different sauces, and you are set. Had the brisket (tender and juicy) and the sweet tea (just about like Texas). I'll be back!

Excellent service provided. You can tell they really are passionate about what they do, and it really shows in the quality of food they make too. Portions are large and the menu is simple which makes making decisions very easy, especially for someone who usually needs 30 minutes to decide what to eat!
