You must have seen that it reaches an reviews average is positive, and it's founded on a large number of feddbacks, so we may conclude that the valuation is very reliable. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they've done well, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to put tatings when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
My room had stains on the chair and floor.
In difficult times, this hotel is doing a fantastic job.The room which i had for a week, did everything to take precations, extra towels, coffee capsules. Room was small, but what i requested. The restaurant attached to the hotel is fantastic. I have traveled and seen many hotel restaurants, and i must say they are abreth of fresh air. Geat beer(Vancouver island). Food was fresh, original and delicious. After a loong day of traveling, the Manager(Holly) recommended a scrupulous beer...had two.
The hotel had very friendly staff. Unfortunately, our room had a noisy ceiling. We could hear every step the guests above us took all night. Also, first hotel we've stayed at that didn't have a freezer section in the mini fridge - not a big deal, but couldn't freeze our babies ice packs that keep the milk cold for the next day.
Stayed here for 3 nights with my partner to visit family. We had a suite room, which was comfortable and nice. We didn't use the pool and other amenities, but good to know that they're there. We did order a beer from the connecting bar/restaurant to our room, so that was a plus! Price was reasonable, would stay again.
Ate breakfast at resturant. Was delicious with reasonable prices
The rooms are clean and that is what the star is for, the service is terrible. Locked out of room a total of seven times over 2 nights. New cards did not work managers cards did not work. No new room offered , they were unable to fix . Would not recommend.
It wasn't a good experience in the first point. When we arrived do to the check in we didn't had a welcome the first thing we were asked was if the dog walking was ours. Since it was. Darrin said immediately without an welcome to the hotel our not even saying hi, you have to pay 100$ for the pet you didn't told us you were bringing a dog. Please advice your staff there is better way to talk with clients. That was very bad impression And the control to the TV didn't had batteries and they didn't had batteries either to change them.
Had a great experience here and I've never seen a hotel so accommodating to pets. We had a room with outdoor access and they prepared it by covering the couch with a sheet and provided a spare towel for our 4 legged family member. It definitely made us feel welcome and happy to stay.
The receptionist staff were not welcoming whatsoever. I wanted to ask a quick question but was left waiting to the point where I decided to walk away. I attended a professional event in the banquet hall. The room was a little dated in regards to the furniture and carpeting. The serving staff, in contrast to the receptionists, were excellent! The food served was mediocre but I enjoyed the varied selection on the menu.
THE BAD: From S.K. on an extended medical stay. Arrived to a partly clean hotel suite. Baseboards and door trim in the entire place was scummy, dusty and pop spilt. When I asked for them to be cleaned they didn't do the bathroom or tops of door trim. The next day they booked someone else in my room, double booking and someone walked right into my suite! They basically gave someone keys to my place to be able to rob me! Who knows what could have happened if I wasn't there. Two days later, I went to McDonalds for coffee and a drive, returned to my door wide open! Guess missing clothes (and underwear), isn't a big deal. So for 4 days it snowed constantly. On the 5th day they finally halfassed shoveled the sidewalk and my girlfriend rolled her ankle looking for the bottom step. The hot tub smelt like mold and was low on water by day 4. You can literally hear your neighbor snoring behind the wall. The beds are spring. Never stay at another one or these. I'd rather sleep in my truck. THE GOOD: Close to suite parking, quiet area, nice showers, plenty of room, heavenly looking when cleaned properly.
I didn’t even stay here. I walked in late at night after walking around dealing with an emergency. I needed a safe place to stay for the night. I was told they had no room. My partner called shortly after asking if they had vacancies and the person said yes on the phone. This was less than 30 mins later Why did I get turned away? I had money. I’m 23…. I’d think the hotel would want a women safe? I don’t know. Very upsetting attitude
We d previously stayed at a Howard Johnson property in Kamloops that ruined the reputation for the brand for us. We haven't returned to the brand in 10 plus years because of the rat chewing we heard thru the walls and the flea infested carpets. So we had sworn off staying at Howard johnsons forever... Until this opportunity came along. We were scared and very hesitant but we saw the site pics and read the reviews. So we took a chance. This place is spotlessly clean and in a good decent quiet location despite being so close to the hwy it's quiet. We had a large room with clean linens and comfy beds. Staff was friendly and accommodating and we enjoyed ourselves. Can't say much about the restaurant beside the hotel since it charges high prices for low end food and wasn't that great. But the hotel meet and exceeded our expectations and we will gladly return!
Very much enjoyed my stay. All the staff, from front desk to restaurant/bar were wonderful. I highly recommend Howard Johnson by Wyndham at Elk Lake, Victoria.
No hot tub no breakfast as advertised through expedia. Room definitely over priced for what we received compared to our other stays on the island. Taking off our to go list.
Great place to stay. Very very clean and tidy. Nice rooms. Courteous staff. Amazing outdoors pool. Not far from the ferry terminal and from the Victoria city. Right in the middle. A nice beach/lake is nearby the hotel, it's called Elk Lake. It's a five minute drive, and is peaceful, and the water is very warm. Recommend!
This can not be a 3-star hotel. This is a 1 or 2-star hotel maybe? Never seen such a dirty room. Carpet never been vacuumed. Found hair in the bed and a ball of hair on the bathroom floor. The outdated heating and cooling system (it still works) was left on the highest setting for cold.... Room window was open no screen with curtains covering it.
I stayed here for seven days and it was a mediocre stay. When I arrived, there was hair in the bathroom, the pillows and the floors did not seem to be vacuumed. My room was not ready until 3:35pm which was inconvenient given their check-in’s are at 3pm. I understand it is a busy time of year however my travel day started at 3:30am eastern, I would have really loved to be checked in on time. When I got to my room my fridge was not very cold and when I put food in there it all started to freeze. I spoke to the front desk several times throughout my stay and all they said was to keep it on the lowest setting, which I never even touched the settings to begin with. I also asked about the tv in my room two or three times as it wasn't working and I was told they would get back to me which they never did. Upon checking out, they took priority of checking someone in when myself and other guests had to stand their waiting just to leave. Their debit machine was not working due to a power outage from earlier that morning so I could not receive a refund from the remainder of my stay and had to wait 3 and a half weeks to get the money back. I was told I would receive communication and updates to which I never did, unless I called them myself. I was lied to several times and it was almost impossible to reach them by telephone to receive any sort of update at all. They are incredibly inconsiderate of everyone else’s life, time and travel arrangements. Overall, it was an okay experience with mediocre staff - nothing special about the hotel. I hope you have a better experience than I did.
The room was adequate BUT there wasn't a proper work station to set up a lap top computer. Had to sit on the 'old' worn out uncomfortable couch to work on my laptop. This put me closer to the carpet which had a foul old foot order smell. The room is dated and could definitely use a new couch, and new carpet, but at the very least the carpet needs to be cleaned.
