Terrible service. Had a sales associate coming running over to ask me how old my dog was then when I replied how old. She told me I had to pick up and carry my dog in the store.. very rude about it. My puppy has all her shots. I just won't be shopping there. I'll go to Globa pets by wal mart. Much better service and very knowledgeable that store.

This is by far the best pet store in st.thomas with the best staff around. They are always there to help and answer questions. I got a puppy and needed a coller asap and other stores in town directed me to order it online. Pet valu helped fit a collar for me curbside. Our puppy is a service dog in training. The staff are super understanding about not interacting with her when she is working and treating her like a puppy while she isn't in her vest. They let her explore the bathing area to get used to it even though we were not having bathing her that evening. They always welcome us to come in and do training and don't ever force us to buy anything. They have ordered in items that they didn't have in stock. They are absolutely amazing and I recommend the store everyone.

I have just left this store and I have decided to not return. This is the second time one of your employees Yhana has been rude and condescending to me. The other employee was not much better. I had given my opinion about something another customer was asking. As I was leaving the store I could hear the two employees (Yhana and the other woman) whispering and then they both laughed. I stopped and said “You shouldn’t laugh at people.” Yhana just walked away from the counter and headed down an isle to the back while the other just stared at me. I have been purchasing cat food and kitty litter for as long as this store has been open. I have rescued 4 cats over 22 years and I don’t appreciate been treated as if I don’t know what I am talking about. I know more about pets and especially cats than these two idiots could ever hope to learn. They are bad for your business as I will tell anyone to not shop here.

Always go to this Pet Valu, they're the best place in St Thomas. The staff here are just terrific. They're always friendly, fast and explain things to help you out. The store is nicely laid out. One of the best things that they sell, is those pill pockets. We have a golden retriever that doesn't like pills, and with those pill pockets she just loves taking them.

Horrible place. Tried to adopt a cat here for my Daughter.. filled out the paperwork.. had 100 bucks ready.. and they crushed my Daughter and decided to just give the cat to someone else. Worst dog wash ever! The manager Laura there is absolutely rude. Told me to leave the establishment after I ask her to give me the shampoo that had all water in it and said no. Then proceeded to tell me if I don't like it that I could leave and go somewhere else. It took a 17 year old employee that work there to have more common sense. She gave my sister and I respect and the proper customer service from the start. She wasn't even the manager. It's locally owned but the worst location. I would definitely recommend some more training for the ladies on your dog washes or how to treat people in general. I will never be returning

I came here twice and greeted with outstanding customer service. I am living between Ottawa and Trenton and ran out of specific dog food from our Ottawa vet. Pet Value didn't have it but recommended a vet hospital in the area that does. In the meantime, the representative offered the closest food to the one I was searching for. Today I was greeted by a young woman who seemed to really enjoy her job. She sat with me to help try on warm dog sweaters and since they didn't have my dog's size they ordered one for her. While searching for dog food, the representative showed me various flavours, what is unique about each brand, and ensured it was within my budget. I never felt pressured to buy anything and felt like I was having a conversation during my time here. My dog even received a little treat bag.

Ethics ---- It's all about ethics. I run my own business and the success of my business depends on me being ethical to my clients. Several months ago I went in to buy cat food. My girlfriend went with me. We both were given small rewards cards and we were told the next time we bought food there we'd get money off our next food purchase. I went in to buy food today and my cat food was five dollars off, which is the reason I chose this day to buy it- it was on sale. I presented my card and asked for my discount (as promised) and I was told it wasn't applicable. They explained to me that the card was only valid for catalog items and other various items and that my food was already $5 off the original price. I bought the food anyway because I needed it and it was on sale. BUT, that's not what they told me originally. So what's the big deal...it's only a small discount anyway right? The issue is that they said one thing and did another. If I did that with my clients I'd be out of business in no time. I gave them their rewards card back...since obviously they don't carry any weight. In September, a new store opens called Pet Smart. It's a much bigger store in a much better location. Maybe the "SMART" part about the new store is that they have ethics.

Standard pet store with friendly staff. What makes it stand out is that all of their cats are adoptable from local shelters and rescues. This store in particular has always supported animal charities and rescues in our area with donations and they make it very easy for customers to buy and drop off items for these rescues if they are feeling generous.

* thank you for the clarification I have never had an issue at this Pet Valu location until today. I have 2 golden retriever dogs and use the dog wash area frequently. My boyfriend brought our two dogs there today and the lady at the counter, told him only one dog in the dog wash area at a time. This is the first time I've heard of this rule, she made him leave one dog in the car while he washed the other, in winter weather. There is a gate for the dog wash area for that exact reason... so they CANT GET OUT!! Don't understand why this employee decided to make this rule up today but I a) don't feel comfortable leaving my dog in the car by his/her self and b) don't see why I was able to bring both of my dogs in with me the 10 other times I have been there but today was not allowed.

One employee fit my dog with a harness and helped me pick a leash, another helped me choose a bed and some chew toys, and a third employee helped me with shampoo and a dental kit. Customer service here was so far from okay. I had no interaction with any employees without provoking the conversation myself and even then there was no effort to help me with my concerns. I came in with both of my dogs trying to find a collar for my younger dog. Nobody offered to help, cared to come over and offer any assistance, or even glanced my way. I asked for more information regarding a collar that they had similar stock to and while I had both dogs in hand the employee handed me a pen and paper to put down my information... not trying to sound petty but do your job and help your customers. Hands down worst pet valu I've been to, and I've frequented many. Very inconsistent with their dog food selection and they definitely water down the shampoo in the DIY washing station. Also, I've never had a time limit at the washing station before. Overall off-putting.

I have been here many times and had good experiences but when i went the other week i needed help and the girls seemed busy talking and when i got soneone to help the girl was rude and seemed to talk to me like i was stupid and acted like she had better things to do then help i thinkher nametag said caitlin and i dont think ill be back any time soon just dont want any one else to have this experience..

I haven't visit Pet Value in a year. I could not not believe how beautiful this store was. Everything was clean and in order they have worked hard to get every ready for the customer. And yes there was kittens stopped and talk.You. must understand talk of the cat. Come visit play buy food its a beautiful place to hang out.
