Had my daughter take her car in to have a chip in the windshield repaired. During the visit, staff took it upon themselves to inspect the cabin air filter without asking if any other service was to be done. They presented the dirty cabin filter to her and said it appeared that it had never been replaced. After being informed that her dad looked after the maintenance they told her to call and see if I wanted it replaced. I told her "No" and she passed this on to them.. They wanted $45 for the filter. They filter (FRAM) can be purchased at Canadian Tire for $17. They then put the filter back without dumping the dirt and debris out which would have taken 2 seconds. Not very professional. I can only assume the staff member was upset he didn't get an over inflated sale. After the crack was repaired, he then made my daughter wait another 20 minutes to get the car just to inconvenice her. Again, not very professional. When my daughter brought the car home I inspected the filter. Since this car was purchased used it is possible the filter had never been changed. If this was the case, then one of the retaining clips was broken by Speedy. If it had been replaced previously, the clip could have been broken before. The reason the car was taken to Speedy was a result of the insurance company suggesting it. This info will be forwarded to them to help them with their future decisions.
Edit: 7 months later the windshield cracked through the repair, resulting in a window replacement at the competition.
