I was in a bind with my vehicle days before a planned road trip to Oregon. Rough starting, sometimes not starting, stalling and, to top if off, also had a broken window regulator. The dealership couldn't see me for two weeks. I spoke to Harb, who promptly made the correct diagnosis, got the required parts, and had me on the road again about as quickly as it could possibly be done. In addition, he went through the headache of dealing with my extended warranty company and getting the work done under warranty. Highly recommend these guys. Prompt, professional service at very fair prices.

Beware that there are two shops in Victoria that go by the name Fairfield Auto - the other is part of the Petro Can station nearby. That one didn't come up in my initial search and I picked the wrong one. If someone recommended Fairfield Auto to you like my friend did, double check that you have the right one before bringing your vehicle here! Everything was fine at first. Dropped my car off, wasn't informed that I'd be charged for the estimate/diagnosis labour, either verbally or through signage at the desk. Had a short list of the most pressing problems that I brought in with me. Got the first call about the work, and again was not informed that there would be estimate charges. I asked them not to replace the battery, as I can easily do this myself, but they could do the spark plugs, ball joint/control arm, and oil change. He'd have to call me back with the cost for the ball joint work. All of the issues he found fit with the problems I noticed and what my previous, trusted shop told me last time, and there was no pressure to do a major $700 repair I already knew about that wasn't a safety hazard, so I gave a star for that. I called first thing the next morning asking not to do the spark plugs either, thankfully they had only done the oil change so far. I found out that spark plugs are also pretty easy to do myself, already had most of the tools. The owner said ok, but that's when he got a little snarky with me and dropped the estimate charge bomb because I'd "keep calling" to change my mind - an extra $101 for an hour of labour. I totally understand that it sucks for a shop to do a ton of diagnosis/estimate work and then not get the business for it, but you're not obligated to go with the first estimate you get, and I did give him my business for the bulk of the work. Something felt off about this turn of events so I protested a bit, but didn't know the actual regulations well enough to really fight him about it. It had to wait until the next phone call about the ball joint, after I got my info somewhat straight. Of course, the quote was also at/near the top of the range for typical ball joint replacements, around $375-400. I fought him on the estimate charge and mentioned that he can't do that if he didn't inform me upfront, but he didn't seem to care about legalities, mentioned his own costs to run a business and check things out, and in the end said "well, you're getting charged for it." Not once did he say that I was in the wrong about the legal stuff and he was kinda rude about it to top it off. I will most definitely NOT be going back here and wouldn't recommend it to others who aren't too in the know about vehicle repairs.

I was having car troubles and right around closing time I went to Fairfield Auto. I just wanted someone to look at my battery terminal and have a quick assessment. Andrew was really polite and sincere. He asked one of the mechanics to have a look for me. After the mechanic had a look and I bought a part for $3.50, my car wouldn't start. The same mechanic helped me start my car again and I left thanking the staff. Such nice people and willing to help me without a charge. 5 STARS!

Great service and prices. Fast turn around, honest and transparent owner, and very kind and professional mechanics. As someone who knows nothing about cars and is an easy target, they could have ripped off, but they did no such thing. I will 100% go back for any maintenance and highly recommend! (Edited this review because I did go back and got great service again!).

Would just like to review this place for the time they neglected to screw on my tire after rotating them. Then argue over a refund for services not rendered. And in the end still not perform the work we asked for leaving us having to go to a better shop.

I took my newly imported vehicle there for a Provincial inspection. Upon getting the bill, I noted an ~$8 charge for shop supplies. I asked about it and was told that was for "electricity." They detailed a list of necessary repairs that would cost ~$5000. I immediately took the vehicle to another inspection place and was given a much smaller list of repairs: ~$200.

Looking for a good place to get my car washed but stumbled upon this guy, He'll take your keys and drive your vehicle into the automated washing station and when its done in like 10-15 mins drive it out and have one of his workers dry the vehicle, Not very clean on the wash as there were areas that the machine did not get so I had to take the microfibre towel from the worker who was given the task to manually dry my vehicle and wipe the areas that he just bypassed, not very good at the drying part either, I paid for an exterior wash and wax but the car looked as if it was just washed with soap, The worker that took my keys was not the friendliest of people but not the worst, This cost about $16.00 bucks plus taxes, there are other options nearby but if you really need to get your car washed well this should be a second or third option. Maybe I am being too picky but i'll let you be the judge.

I have lived in the area within two blocks of this place for over 20 years so I can speak a little bit about this place. When this was a gas station the owner used to work there and I remember many times him joking about selling cigarettes to minors and there are other reviews that reflect that as well; you also have to know that it's very strange that they don't sell gas there anymore and it has little to do with the fact that the Esso station opened up on Fort Street it was due to the fact that Esso didn't want a better reputation from this place anymore, so they lost their gas commission; I've also had contact with the owner many times and the man is as shady as they come this place should be avoided at all costs the only reason they continue to be in business is the fact of its location; people innocently come here and don't know any better and as you read all of the low reviews you find what I'm saying is pretty true to what this place is all about.

Definitely overcharging for the amount of work that they do. I was quoted 550 to replace an alternator when the part is $235 new and it takes about 15 minutes to replace...plus they charged me 125 dollars to recharge the battery and do a simple test. not recommended

Harb and his team are always honest. They've even recommended that I not spend money on unnecessary repairs. I brought my car to them for a repair. I left it there and one day later I picked it up. Then, literally, 10 minutes later as I am still driving away the same issue reappears. I take it back. Again I leave it with them. Again the repair wasn't done properly. Finally, I had to give up on them and take it to the dealer. I should have done that in the first place. I was not satisfied and could never go back. :(

These guys were too busy when my car was towed in to them but still made time to find out that the alternator was fired and did their homework to get me a suitable replacement for my 12 year old Ford Focus and with all that said and done wre a le to STILL get me my car back in time so I wouldn't miss my planned camping trip with my daughter and her little humans. My partner and I brought our old van in for a “safety inspection” knowing there would be work to be done, we were so impressed with the customer service from Amar. He called us and offered to email us the list of repairs, all very comprehensive for us folks who are not very vehicle literate. He priced the repairs out and went over them with us on the phone, all his estimates were spot on and we ended up paying almost exactly what we thought we would. Big shout out to Amar for taking care of “Blastoise” and big shout out to Fairfield auto, great work you guys!

I went for a walk with my dog and when I returned they had my car up on the Hoist AND the young mechanic was digging into the spaces under my car with a HUGE screwdriver ~ I asked why he was doing that without my permission and they let the car down... I just received my Visa Bill and They charged me $67.19. I AM Definitely NOT happy with Fairfield Auto Repair

I found them to be pretty honest about the work I needed done. They offered lots of options to save costs and were very speedy with the work. I decided on new tires and they did a great job suggesting exactly what I had in mind, sourcing and installing them super fast, and even gave me a discount! I appreciate the over and above service in that regard, but would have loved if my car was washed as a bonus. I spent a lot of $ on the repairs and tires, and got my car back still dirty :(

very fair pricing and i like that it is usually one of the mechanics who calls you to explain any work that needs to be done or answer any questions. they are not pushy about work and tell me if things they notice are important or can wait till the next pay check. i like the free car wash too!

Had to get an inspection done for an out of province and they quoted me over $2000 in repairs. I was berated by the owner when I asked if there were cheaper options to fix it, just to get it to pass the inspection. I went to a different shop which was way more helpful and I got all of my repairs done under $800. It's a small, family run business who doesn't show any sincerity for customer's situations. Go somewhere else if you're not looking to get over charged with poor customer service.

I brought in my Honda Fit for a test of the alternator, wiring and battery to ensure the problem was the battery. Amar explained the tests he performed, which were negative on all but the battery and was able to help me navigate the warranty on the battery. Phoned regarding an out of province inspection. Had a list of what needed to be done and was looking for a quick estimate over the phone to see if it would be worth my while to take it here. Guy insisted I needed to take it down there for him to see. I said I needed to go to work and would only take it down if I knew the price was fair. Guy was very rude saying he didn’t want to waste his time and had no customer service skills whatsoever. Definitely won’t be taking my vehicle to this shop! Avoid!

I went to Fairfield Auto on the recommendation of my brother. I needed an oil change and new tires. The gave me a quote for tires and did not do a hard sales pitch. I felt like I was given good advice and am happy with the choice I ultimately made. I dropped my car off before work and picked it up at the end of the day. It was sparkling clean inside and out. I didn't notice until 2 days later that they had popped out a dent and didn't even tell me. The cost was exactly what was quoted which means that they did this free of charge. I cannot recommend highly enough

I had unexpected car trouble and being as uneducated as myself when it comes to cars, I was hesitant to take it to a repair shop as I knew it would have been easy for a mechanic to take advantage of my lack of knowledge. When I got to the repair shop with the car they were closed, but had not yet left for the day. They were happy to open their doors and hear my concerns, allowing me to leave my car on the lot for the weekend.
