Fixed and can almost fly

honest review. I had a 2009 vw tiguan that was perfect and ready to drive to the eastcoast and had 0 oil leaks and was flawless. one simple oil change left me with a loose oil filter leaking oil down the side of the engine "the oil filter lives on top of the engine" and the underbelly skidplate barely attached with bolts loosely put on and or missing leading to it cracking and costing $400 to replace from vw. if you truly care for your car and value your money. don't go here for anything. their only "apology" is to offer you an insulting 15% off your next oil change, basically adding insult to injury considering you just spent money having your vehicle repaired and most certainly don't want to take it back for an oil change.

Good prices, they mount tires to. Yes they try to up charge but all these oil services do. All you have to say is no thanks. You can dump your used oil or anti freeze here.

Lovely and pleasant staff on a busy Friday early afternoon. Everyone was courteous (and my dog sure enjoyed his copious milkbones) but a few circumstances made my oil change take a looong time (in the car port next to me 2 cars, who arrived after me, had received their services in the time I received mine). I appreciate that they were busy but there definitely could've been better staff/resource management. The long wait, however, is not why I left unhappy. I recognize that it is my choice to purchase factory issued OEM filters for my vehicle. I go out of my way to go to a Nissan dealership ahead of time to get the necessary filter for my oil change. My family has been doing this since we bought the car back in 2005 and nearly every oil change has been with Mr. Lube. Since they are using a "customer brought filter" they discount $5 off the service. This is the ONLY Mr. Lube that does not do this. When asked I was told that it was this franchise owners decision not to offer that discount. $5 isn't much, but it is enough for me to chose a different location for my next service.

One of the best service experience I've ever had. I went in after work thinking I should get all my fluids changed since I had only changed the engine oil since purchasing my 4x4. To my surprise, they checked engine, transfer case, transmission, front and rear differential and came to the conclusion that it wasn't time yet for any. They even topped up my windshield washer fluid and then was told it was a no charge visit. Once it is time, I'll be going back there! Thanks a lot Mr.Lube team!

Stopped in as my front bumper had pulled off on a parking curb. They immediately went to work to try to help me out. These guys checked my oil. Topped it up and did this at no charge despite offering to pay. Fantastic service. I will be back and highly recommend them. Thank you for getting me back on the road. Update 03 Sep 21: My engine ended up misfiring due to the #1 plug failing...most likely over tightened (read below). I went to take out the spark plug and it was loose in the head, it came right out (not all of it) without turning it much. The problem is that the outer shell with the threads and the ground lead had snapped off and remained inside. All I had in hand was the bottom portion with the ceramic and the electrode. So I called Mr Lube in Courtenay and they came to my house and removed the threaded portion and installed a new plug that I had purchased already. I am happy that they were accommodating since this event with the spark plug originally happened 9 months ago. Polite, courteous, and apologetic was the attitude I received from them. I have updated my stars to 5. --------------‐--------------------------‐-------------------------------- Went for a regular oil change like normal but this time I was upsold on an engine flush that costs 6.99 at Canadian tire. That was an extra 18.99 on top of my bill. Had I realized the price difference, I would have bought it beforehand and done it in the parking lot before getting the oil changed. Then one technician removed a single spark plug and determined by looking at it that he gap was perfect (no gap tool or feeler guage) and I needed a fuel flush as well. I declined. Here's what upset me the most...I asked for the spark plug to be torqued properly (15 lb/ft) and I was assured it would be. The tech hand tightened it and said that there is no torque spec and it doesn't need to be torqued anyways. He does it every day. Im sorry to say, but as someone who goes to this place on a regular basis, I'm not very happy with how things have changed there. I have never ever had a technician remove a spark plug or check my pcv valve on a regular oil change. I'm sure it's more about finding reasons to sell you massively overpriced product that they tell you that you need it. I went with the engine flush because it couldn't hurt to do it anyways, but if I knew the price difference beforehand, I'd save myself some cash. I am undecided if I will return.

While I can appreciate that the job of a technician is to entice to customer to authorize extra services to drive sales for the company, I will not be visiting this location again. I was recommended a transmission flush at 97,000K. It was last done at 94,000K. The fluid is pink. Trust is everything when selecting a shop to perform mechanical services. One star is one too many for this location. I'm not just disappointed - I'm angry and feeling ripped off.

I went for an oil change on Oct 15th but when they checked, my oil was clean and I was told it would be good for at least another 1000 km but if I wanted to I could get it changed. If not, then all I needed was a top up. I was amazed that there was no pressure to go for an oil change and that there wasn't even a charge for the top up I decided on. I wish I'd taken the name of the gentleman who worked on my car to publicly say thank you and that I hope he wasn't given any grief by the company for being honest in his remarks about the oil. Because of my experience my family and friends have said they would definitely go to this location.

I recently had a routine oil inspection on my vehicle, and at the end of the service the "technician" went over the routine vehicle inspection points ensuring me that everything checked out good. Having watched the procedure while sitting in my vehicle, I noticed that at no time did he check my air filter. I asked him specifically about the air filter to which he replied "Yes, I checked it and it's clean as can be". Knowing this was not true I just figured there was no point in arguing with him. When I go home I checked it myself and saw that it needed to be replaced. This leads me to wonder what other details were overlooked during the process. I submitted a feedback message to Mr. Lube that promises a response within 2 business days, and here we are about a week later with no response. I strongly urge you to consider visiting your dealer or a reputable mechanic instead. Clearly this company has no interest in providing a quality service.

I phoned and spoke to Roger, a very friendly and courteous employee. He arranged for me to come back in so that he could correct the situation personally. Upon my arrival he was apologetic and addressed the issue promptly. I would definitely recommend this Mr. Lube location.

It burns me to say something positive about this Mr. Lube place, as it's quiet and I always get in - quick - no waiting. If I tell you these guys are awesome to deal with and thorough in the great job they do - I might have to wait next time! What to do? To be fair, they do all of this and more. If you're paying for a dealership to do less for more and have to book - you're wasting your time and money. These guys have it dialed in with a database on just about every vehicle. Professionals all the way. Highly recommended.

I am relatively new to town and had needed to change my oil for a couple months now (as per the sticker schedule from my last oil change). From the moment I had arrived, the service technician was very friendly and professional in their interaction with me. After checking the oil, the technician informed me that my oil looked fine and if anything, only needed a top up. There was no pressure in having any service done on my car including the oil change I had originally come in for. When the tech finished topping up my oil (and giving me a new sticker), I had tried to pay for the service but they informed me that there was no charge and didn't needed to pay for anything. I could probably go on and on about the things I was impressed with in the minimal amount of time I was in location, but instead of doing that I will give a review of 5 stars, which I rarely, if ever do. Will I come back for an oil change (when needed/scheduled)? Absolutely! Would I recommend this business to others? Absolutely! Thank you to whichever tech that serviced my car today. I will definitely be back.

My vehicle was taken in on November 22nd 2019 to get an oil change. The tech failed to put the gasket back in the oil filter canister causing all of the oil to come out of my vehicle and almost blew my engine. Absolutely unacceptable and will never return.

Swapped my winter tires. Pressure monitoring stopped after one day. Multiple calls and visits later did not rectify. Very rude acting manager. Actual manager never returned my calls. Also would have cost near half had I done it at another vendor. Terrible service. Zero technical knowledge. Gave up and went elsewhere for what was a very simple fix. Won’t go back for tires or anything else. Rated zero if I could.

I could never go to this location again without following up their shoddy work with a mechanical inspection . A customer getting an oil change shouldnt drive away and have parts fall off their vehicle. And then not be reimbursed for what went missing. The manager was very rude about it.

Super slow. Waited outside for close to 45 min. They have one person who knows how to do an oil change and the rest of the children that work there stand around and talk to each other instead of getting the customers through. If you like your time to be wasted while the employees stand around and chat, and then an oil change from employees that aren’t paid enough to care what happens to your car afterwards, this is the place for you!

Had a leak in my back tire on a Sunday. Went to Mr Lube in Courtney and they assessed my tire to find they could not fix it. They removed the tire, put on the donut, checked the pressure in all the tires and made some great recommendations. When I went to pay, he said, "no charge". Wow, I was grateful for such great service with care and concern. Thanks very much. You are definitely my go to place when I need auto work.

Always fast friendly service. They top up washer fluid , check other fluids. Let me know what needs attention. Check tire pressure and add air if needed. I've been going here , after a not so good service at Harris oceanside in Parksville. And use to go to midas in Nanaimo, but at one of their establishment my engine cover went missing. They replaced it after I called the owner. But wasn't what I had as engine cover. The one that went missing was a hard plastic engine cover and was replaced with a soft plastic cover.

It was July 11th of 2018 they decided not to change my oil but they did leave the cap off and closed the hood. It cost me over $600 to have the inside of my hood cleaned & the whole inside steam cleaned . the towing cost money too because I could not just drive away after discovering it plus the towing company came back to clean up the oil spill that I have left behind. ICBC trying to get in touch with them they refuse to respond. Mrlube Head office took notes got in touch with them they refuse to pay. Staff was rude and I still have the recording of her threatening message to me. I have emails and I have pictures and I have witnesses. I wish there was something where I could give them lower than a zero . Despicable people.. I wonder how much they paid people to give them good reviews.

In the middle of an oil change right now! Did everything and more. The manager, a red seal mechanic, even came out and managed to repair a stuck e-brake lever while the tires were already off! "No charge" would have cost me at least $50 bucks had I gone to a dealer mechanic! Thanks guys. Great work again.

Very impressive visit. Went there to have something done that I thought needed done. Was advised that it didn't need done. Reviewed all the specs of my car with me. The team still did a full check and let me know all was good, and sent me on my way. Will definatley let others know of the exceptional service I received.

Do your self a favour and go some where else ! I went here on a Monday morning early , my first mistake . I asked for an oil change and also change the oil in front and rear transfer casing . I and was told they could not check my front transfer casing as the technician could not undo the inspection nut and that i would have to go else where and have it extracted . I asked to have a look and with minimal effort removed the inspection nut . I returned to vehicle and what followed was the strangest banging , shaking and pulling from underneath the vehicle . It was obvious the technician below was an unhappy man . On my way home i noticed my steering wheel was now misaligned from 12 o'clock to 5 after 12 . I spoke to the manager but my complaint was disregarded. Try a lube station where the owner is present and you are far more likely to be happy with the service .

If you think about changing your tires quickly, flat repair or other, don't go to this place. The work hours of the tire guy and the shop doesn't fit at all.. it say close at 6pm but the tire guy close at 3pm... he told me to come back the next Monday , like i did, front door at 8am and guess what? No changing tire on this day !!!!!

I was not really impressed this time. I had to ask for them to fill windshield washer, (last time they didnt even have any) I had to ask them to check air filter. They didnt clean windows, didnt check lights, didnt check air pressue. I go to these places for the whole package, not just to get oil change. They charge enough money.
