Great business and super family oriented. They have never made me feel weird for being a woman, which is not true of some other shops I have been to out there. There has been a change in ownership recently and I hope it will stay this way. Prices are also quite fair and service is great!

Staff were friendly. Rates very competitive, and most importantly - the quote/estimate was honest. I assumed I needed my brakes replaced. After inspection, they informed me that they only needed to be cleaned and serviced, and for a fraction of the cost. Will definitely return for future service needs.

My entire family has been going to Special Interest for years and we have had nothing but REAL heartfelt service. Nissan wanted to charge me $850 for front & back break replacement and tried to tell me my car was unsafe to drive away from Nissan and this was after paying $190 to LOOK at my car...I brought it to Lindsay and he check my breaks and the back breaks did NOT need to be touched at all so he only charged me $350 for it all...he's since done everything my cars have needed and has charged very fairly for it. The entire team there, including the ladies in the office are amazing... I'll never go anywhere else.

I found a leak under my truck and left it with Special Interest Automobile to be investigated. It was pretty obvious, not actively leaking but lots of splatter under the truck, I mentioned upon booking the appointment that it was near a rattling heat shield. I mistakenly said near the front differential. I left my truck with them in the morning the day after. A few hours later, the owner, Lindsay, called to say that they found the leak, it was coming from my oil filter and that he changed my oil (without confirming the right oil- he put conventional but I only use Synthetic). Anyway, I knew this was not right. I drove over to the shop to show the mechanic, Scott, the leak I was referring to. He says something indicating, yeah, that is obviously leaking. (Again, maybe my fault for saying Front Differential instead of Transfer Case, but I'm no mechanic. I don't quite understand how they "found" a leak from the oil filter. There was no leak there. The oil they found around the oil filter was because I changed the oil 3 weeks/300 kms ago) Anyway, I left again so they could investigate. A few hours later I am advised that the leak is from the Transfer Case actuator. The replacement part will be $1200 plus 9 hours labour ( estimate from the mechanic labour guide). This would be about a $2500 repair. Luckily, I wasn't charged for the oil change that wasn't necessary. I was only charged about $50 for the time. I did not authorize further work the because I needed time to think about my options and whether it was still worth keeping my 11-year-old truck. I decided that I really needed to see a specialist and get a second opinion. I'm so glad I did... I went to a local transmission shop in Kitchener. After an hour and a half and by evidence of the oil leak pattern, they advised that the leak was coming from a spline between the transfer case and the drive shaft. They cleaned it and fixed it with automotive silicone. Total repair cost was $178 with tax. Now, ask me if I'll ever return to Special Interest Auto. Despite my experience with Special Interest, I don't think they were out to get me with unecessary repairs. I think they didn't spend enough time to properly diagnose the problem. Also, this was the second time I had an issue with Special Interest. Previously, my brakes were shaved when I really needed my brake fluid replaced. (They couldn't reproduce the problem I described over the phone until I took a road test). Again, possibly due to a rushed diagnosis. This garage was highly recommended by my church friend. So they must be good at some issues/cars. Unfortunately for me, I couldn't see it.

HORRIBLE SHOP! We purchased our SUV from the dealership WITH warranty. Thank God we did because 1 yr later the engine needed to be replaced! When we dropped it off at their auto mechanic shop, our car sat there for 4 days and they DID NOT even look at it! I had to call repeatedly, demanding to find out the situation with my car on the 4th day (I was trying to be patient). They told me they would “order the part” so I should pick it up and it was safe to drive over the weekend. We were annoyed that they had it for 4 days and nothing was really resolved so we took it to another mechanic where, on inspection, they concluded that the entire engine was pretty much on its last legs and needed a new one- they immediately searched out a replacement engine and quoted us in the same day. EXACTLY WHAT Special Interest SHOULD HAVE DONE. Every mechanic we talked to said the car was sold to us with these engine issues and the dealership knew it was a lemon which is probably why the pushed the warranty so much. 3 weeks later we have our SUV back….A few thousand dollars later. Special Interest Auto..dealership and the service shop are a bunch of crooks. They just want your money and don’t care what they sell you. Please, if you value your hard earned money…stay away from these people!!! The only reason I am even giving this place 1 star is because I had to…they don’t even deserve that much!

I have been dealing with Special interest for about 10 years and their service and staff are amazing. They never try to up sell or mislead you in what your vehicle actually needs. They go beyond what is required of them and their customer service is excellent. This is the first time I have ever written a review but I felt the need to after reading the prior one. Try them out you will not be disappointed .

Just got 2 shocks replaced and the price was almost double what the quote was. Told me 500 max and was 900. I wouldn't mind if it was 100 dollars more but 400 is a bit excessive. The manager Lindsay is usually right on with the quotes but he was on holidays. On my bill it said my tire pressure was over inflated at 50 psi so after I left I called the dealership and they said most likely it wasnt my shocks at all and was the over inflated tires causing the shifting feeling while turning and hitting small bumps so it was also misdiagnosed and just needed some air let out. What a waste of money. Last time I went they forgot to top up my oil on my oil change. They did reimburse me for that but I'm not happy with the diagnosis, quote and actual price today. I'll bring my car somewhere else in the future.
