My wife and I have purchased two new vehicles here, and all service work is carried out here as well. We have been customers since 2013. Both the sales and service teams are very professional, organised and explain things plainly and thoroughly. One of my favourite features is the heated garage bay for "drive-thru" service, which is especially convenient in the winter when my vehicles need to be serviced. I can drop off my vehicle in the morning, and wait for a complementary shuttle ride to work, without ever being outside long enough to get cold or fight with any snow or ice. The customer experience is quite clearly a priority and will keep me coming back for more!

I have been working with Kevin Hosford at Downey Ford for approximately 3 weeks, trying to get into a new vehicle. I've ultimately made the decision not to buy a car at this time, but I still feel it's very important to give Kevin the kudos he deserves. Kevin is knowledgeable, patient, and attentive. I've had great difficulty with the finance department within Downey, which is part of the reason I've decided not to purchase a new vehicle from them at this time. I've felt very neglected by them, and very much like an after thought. I have, thus far, had 3 different people call me regarding my financials and my trade in value, each of them asking for details that I have already provided, and none of them able to give me a straight answer regarding the status of my application, which I feel is unacceptable. HOWEVER I attribute each phone call to Kevin. These 5 stars are for Kevin. He has been my point of contact and has consistently seen to it that someone at least reach out, and has even brought my concerns to his manager, without my asking, because he felt the service I had received was unacceptable. He's kept me updated as much as he's able to and been very patient with my inquiries when I've gone days without someone calling me back. If you choose to make your next vehicle purchase a Ford, go see Kevin Hosford at Downey in Saint John. I can't speak for how the rest of the staff will handle your inquiries but can absolutely guarantee that Kevin will move mountains for you if needed.

Reneged on a deal over a few hundred dollars and totally changed the version of what was agreed upon. I guess probably because I decided to not buy any additional warranties and get financing elsewhere. Without those freebies it wasn't good enough for them. Seems to me like money matters more than professional integrity and customer service.

We had a 7:30 am appointment.The car wasn't in the shop until 2:30 . Examination wasn't finished before day ended. Next day my adviser was sick. I called 3 times on the next day and didn't get anyone until 5:30 PM I was told, because my adviser was sick and no one had my info on their computer my car had not been brought in to finish the exploration to find the problem. It wasn't until the third day parts were ordered and the repairs completed. A day more than necessary. I would have thought with all the technology we have today, that there would have been a continuance of service. Someone besides a sick adviser should have had my cars information and continued with the repairs. I agree with another writer...an appointment time at 7:30 and the vehicle not in the shop until 2:30 in the afternoon is NOT acceptable

I have bought 8 vehicles from the Downey group over the years. I have never had a bad experience, and Downey's in both Saint John and Sussex have been absolutely awesome to deal with. I have always gotten top dollar for my trades, and I always feel appreciated and cared for as a customer. Our most recent purchase was a brand new Fusion from Leanne Roman. The whole buying process was so easy. Leanne was always just a text or call away, they were great at keeping us updated, and we got a great deal on the car. I feel the need to comment on the excellent service I received from Matt McMurrer at Downey Ford. He is hands down the best Service Consultant I have dealt with in the 5 plus years dealing with Downey Everything from looking up where I work at to have taxi slips ready and waiting for me to get to work to going the extra mile to check to see if certain things are covered under my warranty when I was told by other staff members it wasn't covered and it turns out it was covered (with out me asking him to check I might add) and he keeps in touch ie calls me right away with any new information in the past I have had to chase people for details on my car . Its so nice to see that costumer service is not dead in this city that some people still get that without happy costumers that will keep coming back we all out of a job. By far the best higher Downeys has made to there service department. Thank you Matt.

Update 2020 Things seems to have change at this dealer and looks like on the right direction. I can notice the difference. Good job! Judy was fenomenal on making me feel that I can come back to this dealer all the time. 150% satisfied. I came back for an issue with my window, and they were fast, professional and Judy was incredible. Was speaking to some of the sales people too (Heather) simply amazing! Will I come back?. Yes!. Now 5 stars just because they improved a lot!. ——- 2018 Moved from Calgary in January. Got a Mustang there last summer. Always the car has been maintained at the Ford dealer (in Calgary) since I owned it. I’m not the kind of guy opening panels, etc. Car started showing the « Door Ajar « on the screen, and as the car is still in guarantee, I expected to the dealer here in St John to take care of the problem. Bad enough they accused me as I’ve opened the door panel and disconnected something and that the guarantee is not covering that. All for $130, to me is more the way things are said (and I told them that in person) and also if a car was bought with all the wisels and bells on the guarantee side is for the peace of mind. They said the guarantee was with Tricor when the guys in Calgary said was with Ford (valid in all North America)... I’m a good customer, probably will buy more cars on the future, from here?...nope. Small details are enough. By the way, when they removed the panel from the door, forgot to put one of the screws back. I did it for them (yes, this time I touched the car, as if i bring it back I will be accused this time to be removing the screw!) Now I will prefer to drive all the way to Fredericton or Moncton to get service.

I’ve had 3 separate interactions with this place and all 3 have been terrible. The first time was when I purchased some winter tires for my work vehicle and had an appointment at 730 am to get them put on. They told me my vehicle would be done by noon at the latest then I received a call at 4:50pm saying it’s just going in to the garage now. Second time was for a recall. After again booking an appointment for 7:30am and with being told by Downey’s that it would only take a few hours to do, I received a call at 2:30pm saying they forgot to order the parts for my recall. And today the 3rd time and last time I will ever go there was for a simple mvi. Again dropped off at 8am with being told it would be done by 1pm. And yet again I get a call at 1230pm saying my vehicle still hasn’t even gotten into the garage yet and that I would be called when it goes in. Well it’s now 2:45pm and I’ve yet to hear anything. Why make appointments if you can’t keep or honor the times. Worst service ever. I will never return or recommend this place to anyone.

I've never been a ford girl (still not) my 2013 focus left me stranded Monday night, it was towed to the place of purchase but then sent to Ford late Tuesday as the problem was something that was under a warranty extension, I got a call at 8am Wednesday morning saying they should be able to get it in this morning, I'll admit I was getting a little worried when I checked in at 1 and it hadn't been seen yet, then at 4 and it was just getting in then, but just before 5 I get a call saying it's ready to be picked up (I didn't even expect to get it back today, just wanted to know a time frame so I could make plans for other transportation). Amy was super friendly and I was very grateful to get it back the same day.

Made an appointment and got winter tires changed out. The front desk service rep was very nice. However, something wrong with the planning system. The appointment was at 8:45 am. The vehicle was not driven into the shop until probably 11 am. By the time the tires were changed, half day was gone.

If I could give 0 stars then I would give it. It was one of the worst experience I ever had in my life with any dealership.I firstly booked the works package with ford which includes oil ,filter change and full service along with the pre-inspection report so I handed over my car at service department to complete that and when I went back to collect my car then the service advisor gave me a feedback for pre inspection and she mentioned that my car is all good and it doesn’t really require anything to clear the MVI then I thought about booking the full MVI inspection same time same day instead of coming back any other day so I left my car and went to mall to spend the 1hr time given by service advisor to me then guess what happened; they called me about 50mins later and started giving me excuses that my car need a exhaust pipe replaced And when I asked the lady that she told me earlier that during pre-inspection they couldn’t find anything wrong in my car which could affect my MVI and my car should clear the MVI without any worries then she don't have any answer about my questions seems like when I left my vehicle their for mvi then she later thought to give me a surprise and charge me some extra money then she called me around an hour later and gave me a huge bill which includes 2hours of labour charges i.e $109+$109/hr plus tax plus mvi inspection charges And part charges.I am totally unhappy with that experience but I had no no choice at that stage as I was stuck with the workshop with the lying staff so I had to get it done. What I expect is Atleast they should have set the correct expectations with customer ; she first told me after the works package and pre-inspection completion that every thing In my car is fine and my car will clear MVI without any issues and then later she changed her words which is highly unprofessional .I paid $100 something for works package and preinspection plus she made another bill around $400 which is ridiculous.But anyways it was not just a finish yet and guess what happens next it was not end of my bad experience and it was just a start as when I took my car back and went home then I saw little chip crack on my windshield which was not there before and also my car key was not going easily into the ignition lock which was not the case earlier.So I thought it could be just my key which need to be replaced so I tried another key but it was still the same.So I thought to go to ford store again to report it to them then the ford guy came and checked and totally refused and said he cannot do anything and refused to take any responsibility of my windshield little chip crack and ignition cylinder lock issue and refused to repair it and ask for more money to get the inspection for ignition cylinder lock. My major question is how come my car clear the MVI by ford if my ignition lock had issue and my windshield has crack??Definitely those things were fine before and my windshield had no chip crack earlier and my ignition lock was totally fine before arriving to ford store. My humble request to someone higher to sort out my issue asap and get my ignition lock fixed and chip crack on my windshield which was not there before. I don't wanna pay a single dollar to ford for something which was not there before. Appreciated if someone can sort this out for me asap.

Same day we called to say we were on the way to see it (we live quite a way outside of St. John). When we got there, Kevin in Sales had the car ready for a test drive for us. Loved the car so went ahead with the purchase. We then found out just how friendly and helpful the sales manager is. After just a short, SIMPLE, negotiation over price, we were able to do the deal. NO HAGGLING. Just a SIMPLE negotiation. It was a breath of fresh air compared to an experience we had with a different dealer the day before in Moncton (they tried to confuse and make it complicated to try to get a lot more money out of us). Since then we have been enjoying a great car. No problems. And Kevin called us a couple of weeks after we drove away, to make sure we were happy. Highly recommend this dealership. Great experience. My wife and I dropped in to Downey's last Saturday to inquire about a new F-150, and after reading some of the latest reviews on this dealership I will say that we also had a very similar and positive experience there. We were politely and promptly greeted by Joe Donnell who led us over to meet sales advisor Kevin Smith. Kevin was great! There was no pressure at all. We just had a nice talk about what we wanted to look at, and he went and got one of the most beautiful F-150's I ever saw for us to go for a test drive in. Wow what a nice truck! But since we were upside down on our trade-in, now just wasn't the time for us to buy a new truck once we saw the numbers and thought it over. However, when the right time does come around I will return to Downey's and finally get myself one of those awesome trucks! Thanks again to Kevin and everybody there at Downey's!

We had had problems with a company not willing to pass our MVI for brakes. The brakes had just been repaired so I was doubtful this info was correct. We went to Ford Saint John where our SUV was purchased and a lady by the name of Denica took the time to help us get our vehicle in to be checked. Our brakes were fine. She then helped us to know how to go about getting a refund for MVI from CT and she passed our car.

My general experience I have had on many occasions some ok some very poor. When we bought our 2013 ford fusion brand new. Our sales rep Darren he was awesome when every we had. A concern we would go thru him he was great always tried to go above and beyond and answered any and all question . unfortanity from there it went down hill. I there was two spot on the car that needed to be repainted we brought it in on two seprate occasions when we received it back it was covered in dust. Which I thought really strange but let it go. When I brought her he 2nd time to have my back door painted I dropped it off then called back a hour later to find out it was sent to some third party paint shop. They called the guy so I could go and get what I needed out . I was standing next to the guy while he called and hard him say he was at the horse race track and he will be right over with my car. I said to the guy why is my car at a horse race track. Response oh he was just stopping by. I said no my car goes from A to B back to A not to a side trip to C I lost it. The sales manager I could tell honestly did not care. If never buy from them again. It out a bad taste in my mouth from that day forward.

Poorly trained advisers. Miss information. No flexibility. I miss the dealer in Halifax (Steel Ford Lincoln). Much more professional and more focused on customer satisfaction. For example; replacing battery in key fob at Downey, 5 dollars; Steel, grabbed one from a drawer, no charge; Downey charged 50 diagnostic fee to "look" at my rear window and see there were scratches in the conductive paint that was causing issues with my rear defrost. These were visible to the eye, did not require any equipment and is the first thing that pops up on the internet when you do a google search (which I would have done if I had known there would be a 50 dollar charge for "looking" at it. Also; I was provided miss information for warranty service deadline. We were told we had 1000K grace... but nope! I didn't buy my car here and only moved to SJ for work. Perhaps the competitive landscape of a bigger market like Halifax makes dealers more customer focused. I know companies need to make there money, but from Downey, I feel we have been nickle-and-dime'd all the way.

Run away as fast as you can. Took our vehicle in to change four tires (snow tires) already on rims and delivered to them and an oil change. Arrived for 8 am appointment at 750am and told 45 min. TWO hours later and after asking a several times where our truck is finally at 10 am truck is done. Not to mention customer lounge was freezing cold had to wear gloves winter coat and hat to stay warm. You don’t know what heat is?? Over all very unsatisfactory service top to bottom and would never return. Place is disorganized and quite honestly not customer focused. The worst Ford dealership I have ever been to and we buy nothing but Ford for over 30 years now. The Worst!!!!

I bought my car used at a great price around March in 2017. We found out shortly after about some minor issues concerning the vehicle. We didn't think of calling or contacting them because we live pretty far and they had delivered the vehicle to us across the province when we bought it. We let them know of the problem a long time after the purchase and they were very understanding and quick to help us. I'm very satisfied with my car and their customer service skills.

Posting on CarGurus website for $9,846 on a 5 year old Escape so I went there to take a look checkbook in hand. I was given an out the door price of almost $14,000 and I was trying to understand how the price got from under 10K to almost 14K. (I was expecting maybe 12K including all taxes and reasonable fees.). After talking to the sales rep it was $1000 extra if you did not use "Downey Finance". Then add a $250 licensing fee, a $299 administrative fee, and a mandatory $299 tire and rim insurance fee. I repeat a mandatory used tire and 5 year old used steel rim insurance fee. Calling on the dealer to be upfront and place the full price or the price listing out the fees atleast the details of there 3rd party ads. Just an update.... Sales team was bad but so far parts and service have been good.

I bought a new vehicle from Downey last month and I couldn't be happier with the service I received. I had been looking for a vehicle for months- new and used, dealer and private- and had zero success. Not only was I not finding the right vehicle but I was turned off by a lot of the salespeople I encountered at other dealerships. I ended up going into Downey to look at some trucks and met with sales associate Kevin Smith. He helped me find the right truck for me- and get the deal that I wanted on it. When I dealt with him, it was clear he was working for me, and not just trying to push vehicles out the door. Everything I wanted, he made it happen. Based solely on my experience dealing with Kevin (and the rest of the staff I met at Downey), I can say that my next vehicle will most likely be a Ford and I'll definitely be calling Kevin when its time to start shopping for it. I can't recommend him- and Downey Ford enough.
