I wasn't supposed to go to a small dealership. That's what I had been told by people in the business. I was told they cut corners and I would come away with a bad deal and an even worse vehicle. So, when I walked into North Side Auto the other morning, I was feeling pretty anxious. I had spent the previous day visiting all of the big fancy dealerships test driving vehicles that were out of my budget, negotiating prices with sales people who would disappear to another office to talk to someone with more authority, and being pushed financing and quoted ridiculous documentation fees. I didn't have very high hopes for day two of car shopping. I showed up at North Side first thing in the morning and walked through their offices following the noise in the back. This is where I met Shawn, making his breakfast. He greeted me with a big smile and put everything on hold to talk with me and reassure me he would do everything he could to help me out. And that he did. Shawn spent the better part of the day with me showing me suv's that were exactly what I was looking for, explaining anything I had questions about, and just being a real person. He was patient and relaxed, helped me do a comparison of the two suv's I liked the best, and gave me a deal I was happy with without my even having to try to muddle through a painful negotiation, oh, and no document fees! I needed winter tires installed and Ken had them done for me by the next morning which is when I met Scott, the co-owner and he was every bit as nice. These guys went far beyond any expectation I have ever had for a car dealership. They have been building from the ground up and doing it in a way that's different from their competition. So, sure, go check out the big dealerships, but only so you can really appreciate the difference you will find when you meet Shawn and Scott at North Side Auto.
