We have all the opinions of people like you who are buying the services of National Car Rental (Car Concessionaire) in the territory of Northwest Territories (Canada).
At the moment the firm has a rating of 2.2 over 5 and the score was based on 29 reviews.
As you can see the average score it has is quite insufficient, and it is based on a very high number of scores, so we can think that the valuation is very reliable. If many people have bothered to give their feddback when they've done well, it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to set reviews when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Car Concessionaire is classified in the category of Car rental agency.
Nice Crew
The most shady business I have ever seen. Overpriced, over promised, under delivered..
My worst experience In my life with a rental car! We got a brand new car and after couple hours, show up a message about no engine oil in the car! We called the customer service and try to fix that situation, but nothing happened! So, we lost one day with car and a tour for 3 people, and when we did drop off, we got only 10% discount! I absolutely don’t recommend this place!
This is the worst National car rental location I have ever experienced. I was given a 5 year old dented and poorly maintained vehicle. I was over charged and promised to be contacted by a manager to address my issues. To. Staff are rude, inexperienced and lack all customer service skills. I National should pull their franchise license. I highly recommend any other rental location in Yellowknife.
Staff was professional and accommodating. I had a day business trip out to Hay River and they were okay with me parking the rental at their lot for the day. The rental car itself needs some TLC. Wasn't the cleanest and smelled like smoke even though the cars are supposed to be non-smoking. Seems like the smell was being covered up with an air freshener but it just made things worse. Staff-great! Car-average.
I had booked through Expedia which had quote me more km's than you are allowed at Car Rental companies in Yellowknife (...usually 50km/day). As it turns out, Expedia made a mistake (..yeah you heard that right!) and gave me the difference. That said, give I was driving so far, National added a few extra free km's to the trip which they didn't have to do. All I needed from National in Yellowknife was a copy of the rental agreement showing what I was charged for the extra km's and they got back to me promptly with the agreement as an attachment. No BS in terms of trying for extra charges, friendly staff, overall a very good experience.
Terrible. Terrible. 0Kms on $90+ per day rental ????????????
That lady charged me $27 for Gas, tank was almost full. Almost fraud.
The staff I met while checking IN was very professional, friendly and courteous. The vehicle I got was a brand new Chevy Trax. The area is a high tourist foot print as such the Con is. Con: I paid a lot for the 2 days and was restricted by the mileage of 50 km per day. Now If I wanted to see the Northern light I would have to pay for the extra KM and that cost can quickly add up. The same thing almost got me in Hay River but this time is was with Budget. There needs to be an adjustment to the KM if there is concern about how far we can drive. calculate the amount of KM needed to drive to view the lights and back as this is one of the main attraction in the area
(Translated) This store is darker and definitely not a National self-operated store. It should be a partnership. The credit card deduction is not National. It is a small yellow knife company. If the amount and content are not the same, I think it is a fraud. Originally, according to National regulations, the vehicle could be upgraded unconditionally, but the staff refused and asked for more money. Another complaint is that after everything is done, there are no points in National. There is also the issue of Chinese driver's license mentioned upstairs, indeed. It is Hong Kong driving license + Chinese passport, which is also very troublesome. At my strong request, he accepted the Chinese passport + Hong Kong driving license. (Previously used by National in Calgary) (Original)
Rip off. Do not use them. You will never get your deposit back which they say they would, doesn't matter how many times you call or visit them. Consider any money paid as a total loss on top of the car rental they charge you. They give you old cars for the highest prices and just 50 km a day allowance. The old lady working at the counter at airport has the worst attitude if you are not white skinned.
I 100% would not recommend this car rental company. As someone who works in the hospitality industry, they have been nothing but scammers to me and my guests. I never recommend them to travellers staying in Yellowknife and routinely warn prospective guests against renting from National (its right on my listing). I don't know how they legitimately operate... Please, unless you want to be scammed out of arbitrary amounts of money randomly, and then threatened with legal action if you attempt to dispute these ridiculous charges, stay away. EDIT: My response below from management has yet to provide email or contact information... just waiting for that.
I absolutely hate the woman in the desk. She is really rude and it seemed that she is a racist, because as soon as my turn had over, she laughs at the behind man who is white. I think that this rental car should change the staff.
I've rented a lot of cars over the years and cannot say that I've EVER had a more quick walk-up to drive-off. Granted, I rented the auto by phone several days prior but nonetheless, the process was most efficient. The counter staff was courteous, knowledgeable and got me out to the vehicle in under 10 minutes time. If I had any request here it would be for a > 50 km/day allowance. Would most certainly rent from this National agency again.
Absolutely unhelpful, the truck we were given had a bad battery and continually died during our project costing us time and money and no one offered to help us.
I had booked a car for two days .When I go to the counter to make my reservation,a stuff said without a international driver license he cannot give me the car.Whats stupid thing it’s,there’s even no international driver license in China, its just a English translation of your driver license, without lawful effect.I bring myself original license And a notarial certificate, but it doesn’t work here. Besides,in the period of my reservation and arrival, nobody tell me about this. Terrible management there,I suppose if you want rent a car here in Yellowknife, you better choose another one,not national.
Jackie is a pure beauty! She was super helpful. Even offered to help find our hotel after her shift had ended.
Rented a car early evening as none where available before the last flight of the day got charged for a full day use and dropped off at 8:30 am 4 days after and got charged another full day use. RENTER BEWARE!
Friendly service
I made a booking for a car rental through Hotwire for National in Yellowknife. When I got to the counter the customer service clerk insisted that the price was double to what hotwire had given us and pretty much said if you want the car you have to pay the higher price. We tried to reason with her but there was no reasoning. We paid the rate and asked to be contacted by the manager to sort out the overcharge. I was promised on Monday I would get a phone call. 5 days later, still no call. National is such a big company you would think they would put their customers first. Not at this location. I will never use National again!
Highly unethical practices but friendly staff.Rented a suv from them with cash deposit had it extended and asked if a lager deposit was required told no. They put down wrong return date on extention and came and took car and with held my personal items and refused to return car unless a larger deposit was made.they Couldnt find manager or car to get my stuff back. My items were dropped off to me later in evening by a staff member going the extra mile. Would suggest a different rental agency as the disorginization, and relucktance to work with someone when they made a mistake.
Booked a Ford Escape for 4 days but was offered with a Chevy Equinox, which was less compatible as I expected. I had a puncture tire on the last day and reported to the office who told me to bring in the car to their service center to get repair at $60. As an experienced traveler, I found the nearest Canadian Tire to repair it at $34. For due diligent, the Canadian Tire also check other tires and found that they were in poor condition. The odometer read around 34,000 km as I guess the tires was not checked since it was first put into service. I was surprised that they put the driver at risk without performing maintenance check on the tire condition. With more than 30 years of active driving experience, I strongly believe the integrity of vehicle solely rely on the tires, which is the only contact on the road.
