This place is a joy to deal with! From my initial "chat" online to receiving assistance from Keith Pope, at no time did I feel rushed or pressured into purchasing the pre-owned vehicle I had selected. The whole process was so smooth and I was out the door in under 2 hours (including the test drive). Keith Pope - sales person, Brennan - finance, Allan- Automotive and Dominic - Car Insurance , were all so friendly, yet professional. It was worth the drive from Victoria and I would not hesitate to recommend Nanaimo Toyota. I live in Victoria but found a car I wanted to purchase in the Toyota dealership in Nanaimo. My sister from Nanaimo popped in to check it out. My salesman Graham Strum was extremely friendly and helpful, both by phone and in person. He addressed any concerns I had very quickly, dealing with them immediately, as did the dealership as well. Once I arrived to see the car, Graham made my experience become very smooth and seamless. With a combined effort on everyone's part, I was able to purchase this car in a very short order (making the location/distance on their busiest day seem unnoticable) and am very pleased with it. As I said to Graham.... "I LOVE MY CAR, I LOVE MY CAR, I LOVE MY CAR! PS: I only have one complaint. Graham wouldn't part with his really cool Toyota car computer mouse, but apparently I wasn't the first one to ask for it. LOL Merry Christmas everyone!

A HUGE shootout to Steve and David from the parts department. Bought my 2016 Toyota Camry XSE at Honda and they sold it to me without a wheelock key. Didn't find out until I went for new tires at OK Tire. They did not have a master key so they used a socket set to remove. They however didn't have lugnuts to replace the wheelock and sent me driving with 4 of 5 bolts on every tires because they didn't replace the wheelock. Long story short Steve and David ended up saving the day with free lugnuts and rechecking the rest of the bolts. Stellar service!

My last major repair at this dealer was on Sept 29, 2015 and involved brake work and replacing a rear bearing and seal and the total invoice cost was $3,474.03 but as long as the work was done properly I was fine paying it. Unfortunately, the rear seal wasn't replaced correctly and has been leaking all over my tire and brakes. Fortunately, the work was still under warranty (24 months) but unfortunately I was still charged to replace rear right brake shoes that I had to replace due the defective seal. To add insult to injury I also paid to have these brake shoes replaced with my original work order under two year ago. The wear and tear on these shoes would have been minimal given that the first time the rear brakes were done was at 203,937 km. Yeah yeah I know the toyota warranties never cover brakes but when you consider this situation is it really worth charging the customer for brake shoes and losing the business for life? I have two toyota vehicles that I used to bring there for service. Why did I have to replace the rear brake shoes? because the seal leaked oil all over them. What was the condition of the shoes without the oil contamination? excellent given they were replaced in 2015. But the warranty policy says we have to charge - well I say see you later then. The right rear tire where the seal was replaced should have also been cleaned as it would have taken a few minutes to wipe the inside and outside rim and when I picked up the truck the wheel was still covered in oil from the leak? Just a little thing like that can go a long way but I guess warranty work is low priority. On a positive note the service guy (steve) I dealt with was very personable and efficient. Looking at other reviews I get the sense the quality control and this dealership is not good anymore.

The service department is great. Nathan who worked on my 4 runner is a great mechanic and knows what he is doing and does it right. I had a very bad experience with a different shop doing my injectors and leaving my vehicle not starting or running right so I had some major apprehension about trusting anyone else with my vehicle and they were all very understanding about that. Even when they were trying to diagnose the issue Nathan was great and explained some things himself to me and answered any questions I had. I decided to just get them to redo the injectors and he did them right and has my Yota running perfect again. I now have somewhere I trust completely to do any work I need on my 4Runner and to do it properly the first time. Thank you for making it possible for me to get her back out in the bush again.

It has been about 3 weeks since I bought a pre-owned 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT from Nanaimo Toyota, and I couldn't be happier! The car is great, and it was exactly what I was looking for. The staff were all awesome (James, Alan, Brennan to name a few) and helped me along every step of the way without pushing me into something I didn't need or want. A huge part of my decision to buy from Nanaimo Toyota was the service I got from Mr. James McGunigal. As a product adviser in the pre-owned vehicle department, he heard what I wanted, showed me cars that fit that description, let me test drive them, and then supported my choice once I made one. He was professional and attentive, even though I didn't have much to spend. He answered all my questions in what I took to be an honest and straight-forward way. It was a huge relief to work with James. I found staff at other dealerships would show me just one car that was $15,000 over my budget, and then try every transparent sales pitch in the book. Sales staff elsewhere ranged from kinda helpful to downright unpleasant. But James was head-and-shoulders above the others; his years of experience really show. My eye was caught by the distinct "Blue Flame" colour of a Toyota Corolla Hatchback on the lot. I was looking to replace my 17yr old blue Corolla, there is nothing wrong with it except the lack of 2021 technology. The help was great - Paul LeBron was patient, supportive and very good humoured as I went through the beginnings of the process of relinquishing one car and getting another. It was fun! We went for a test drive, him first showing some of the capabilities and me, nervous as if I was in a driving test, taking over - this is such a smooth and quiet machine. Loved it. Very hands-off testing experience, which I appreciate. Did the drive, spoke about various options for vehicle, said our goodbyes, followed up at a later time. Low pressure. Had some interesting conversation with Jeffery on the day. Although I wasn’t able to obtain what I wanted for my trade in, they were very willing to listen and offer help wherever possible. They followed up with my requests in a very timely manner. Its a shame that Toyota Canada can’t do lower than 3.99% financing on new vehicles. Had to organize a different lending with my bank on short notice. That was my only sticking point of the purchase experience.

I had a long drawn out experience with the staff. Yes they fixed the problem, but the problem ended up being one wire that cost 1000 dollars of labour to fix. I know that 95% of the time they were trying to just find the problem in the first place, but they definitely were never confident of a fix, and were looking in the wrong spot most of the time. The reason I'm still giving them 3 stars is because they were very understanding and sympathetic to the situation (even though it didn't save me money). If you have electrical problems, think twice about taking it here.

Something has obviously changed in the management of this Toyota service department. Terrible service, double booking clients so everyone has to wait longer. Had an appt to get it serviced at a set time, 4 hours for a tire change and oil change!?!, and then we showed up to pick it up it still hadn't been touched! We were asked to wait another 2 hours for it to be finished. Will never return here to service our vehicle again. Amazing customer service. As a woman they didn't talk down to me, were helpful and explained everything. Many women working here making it seem friendly to women bringing their vehicles in for service. A very forward thinking place. I highly recommend them for toyota or Lexus servicing. My Lexus is in good hands.

I recently purchased a used 2018 Toyota Highlander Hybrid XLE from Nanaimo Toyota. I had been on the hunt for the past 6 months for a Hybrid so decided to drive up from Victoria to check it out. I was first contacted to review the lease I currently held and as a result I was able to opt for vehicle that meets my personal needs at this time. We were in the market for a new vehicle after discovering the one we'd purchased in Vancouver had serious issues. After scouring the ads online, I saw a minivan I thought would be a good fit for us. I contacted the dealership, and in no time got a response from Alan in the used sales department. After exchanging a few emails, he knew exactly what we wanted in a vehicle and followed up with us a few days later to let us know that there was one on the lot that might suit us perfectly; A few days later, we were driving home to Port Alberni from Victoria when I got an email from Alan letting me know the van had been reduced in price for a quick sale. We decided to swing by and take a look at it, kick the tires, take it for a test drive. Alan was great, absolutely no pressure to buy the van. He left us alone to discuss it and after a chat, we decided to go for it. Not only did they fill the tank, they threw in new floor mats, they'd replaced the brakes, detailed the vehicle top to bottom and gave us some extras - my choice of a bluetooth speaker, an umbrella and a backup battery charger for my phone. Being on the island I of course went for the umbrella! They're even giving us a free oil change in six months' time. The sales staff at Nanaimo Toyota are amazing, absolutely low key and none of the typical sales tactics that make going to many dealerships a very stressful experience! I would recommend to anyone, if you're looking for a vehicle, go see the folks at Nanaimo Scion Toyota. Great people, great place to get your next vehicle. Thanks guys!

Friendly service and they seem to know what they are doing but the service department exaggerates the need for work. I was told my transmission fluid needed to be changed based on a visual inspection when it had been done the year before (elsewhere). In that same visit, I was also told to change my brakes, but when I took them a few months later to another place to get the work done I was told those brakes were fine. I can’t trust Toyota’s recommendations anymore so they’ve lost my business.

Great staff. Friendly and welcoming. No sales pressure. We leased a new vehicle and are happy with it. My only issue, the reason I can't give 5 stars is, they wanted to finish the deal quickly, "to lock in the rate". I ended up signing the papers and taking home the vehicle in the afternoon of the last day of the month. The next day the interest rate went down and I realized I payed $400+ more because I didn't wait one day. I brought this to their attention and was told "sometimes the rates go up, sometimes they go down". After doing some research, I don't believe this. The interest rate for new vehicles almost always either stays the same or goes down, but rarely, if ever goes up. I was also told the rates are set by Toyota Canada and they have no control over it, nor do they profit from the difference in rates (I believe this). If that is the case, the only reason to encourage the deal to be finished by month end would be to secure the sales staff's commission for that month. They would have made the exact same amount, just one month later and I would have saved $400+ if I had waited a day. To put the speed you get your paycheck above what would be better for the customer is disrespectful. To their credit, they did offer discounts for other products or services to help keep me happy. But ultimately, me losing $400 shouldn't just be an incentive to spend more. It never should have happened in the first place. I don't mean for this to be a very negative review, with the exception of that one issue, everything else was spot on. They answered all questions up front and responded to email and text extremely fast, even on their days off. I recommend anyone looking for a new vehicle to see these people, as you will get exceptional, no pressure, friendly, welcoming service. Advice to customers: Buy or lease at the beginning of the month. That's when the new deals and interest rates come out. The odds that the interest rate will go up month to month is quite rare.

Watch out for these guys. I bought a car here used not even a year ago and suffered major issues with it within the first month I owned it with poor service. Nanaimo Toyota has stated they tried to contact me numerous times (as a reply to google reviews)... which they havent. I have one cell phone and I have it on me at all times............. maybe one of those dudes can send me some records of the phone calls they tried to make. I also have a paper trail of me telling the shop there that we have had engine light issues since we got the car with no oil and I also mentioned we had the fan replaced. However, they responded saying they have no record haha. You cant make this up! I just keep getting skeezy vibes from this place. At the very LEAST please respond with honest Google Review replies, guys. Hope everyone considers these issues before purchasing there.

I had a great experience with Nanaimo Toyota. They helped me with everything, finance was great they helped me get the money from the replacement insurance company since they were awful to deal with. I love my (almost) new car, although I wish they would have informed me of all of the little dings and scratches in the paint, and when they mentioned there is a little pen you can buy why they didn't throw one in with the purchase. My sales rep was great otherwise and picked me up from the ferry, I did end up paying for her coffee though too... if she wasn't so helpful i'd probably drop this rating to a 3. The reason this rating isn't 5 stars is because of the scratches and dings and also the insurance girl i had to deal with. She was rude with a sense of entitlement. Her snide remarks and contemptuous attitude. I was polite and grinned through it because I just wanted my car I've been waiting 2 months for, due to other outside circumstances. In the end i didn't even get my insurance papers she left with them after being rude about how she couldn't possibly still have them in her stuff, WHEN SHE DID! and she didn't even humor me and look, and I am still waiting to hear about when I am going to be receiving them. All and all I would recommend this dealership to others.

Nanaimo Toyota! Where do I start? May 11, I am at King George Nissan looking at a 2009 AWD Toyota Matrix. Silver with 109000KMS. It was my third time there playing the GAME of back and fourth with the purchase of the vehicle. Finally secured financing and a good trade in value for my 2004ML 500. Ready to sign, I tunr to the branch manager to ask if the vibration coming from the steering column can be fixed after I take the vehicle home. He unprofessionally throws up his arms in the middle of the dealership stating loudly "Now you are just trying to nickel and dime me." Something tells me to stop and not sign. Took my void cheque and I left the dealership very irritated. Get home and decide to look online if I just blew a good deal. First site up is Nanaimo Toyota advertising a 2009 AWD Toyota Matrix. Silver with 71000KMS. Too good to be true? Emailed dealership with earnest to ask if it is indeed still available. It is after 9pm so I force myself to sleep as the bad feeling withing the pit in my stomach refuses to subside. May 12 at 10:30am, I get an email response from Nicolette at Nanaimo Toyota. She introduces herself in a succinct and professional manner providing every possible contact detail and of course the good news I had been waiting for. I pick up the phone and call her which she immediately picks, has a great phone presence and charming to boot. She takes my details and tells me she will put me in touch with Graham and he will call me back. Withing 10 minutes, Graham calls me back, and the magic of this dealership begins...... Folks within 24hrs, the team at Nanaimo Toyota had not only calmly assured me the trip was worth taking to Nanaimo, they had secured great rate and financing for my 2009 AWD Toyota Matrix and offered me great trade in value for my 2004 ML500. Thank you Dallas (the humble king), Nicollette (the gleeful genie), Graham (the weaver of tales), and Michael (the practical common sense banker). You made my vehicle purchase off a dealer (typically a most scary and sometimes slimy endeavor), one of the best purchases I have ever personally made. Moved on to Duncan - high pressure from the gal - I asked to give me more for my Honda - nope, she suggested I just put more on my credit card - WHAT???? Next I try Nanaimo through the internet. In touch with Guis. Such a different experience. He spent HOURS with me - I was really nervous - I'm 75 - why buy a new car. Test drive - more time explaining each button - it's a complicated car. Decide to take the plunge - more caring chats with Guis and Brennan the manager. Even the receptionist (I apologize for not remembering her name) treated my dog like a princess. Pick up time - another three hours going over every single detail. Both were totally patient with my nervousness - explaining the lease/buy back program that Duncan nor Victoria could be bothered to mention. Nanaimo Toyota is NOT a Pattison money maker, it is a family owned business. Hence the care, patience and family atmosphere. When is the barbeque again? I want an invite!!!!!

I cannot put into words how happy I am with my recent dealings with Gui Ruiz (Sales) and Shawn Hildebrandt (Finance). I originally went to Pattison Toyota in Duncan to look into ordering a 2022 GR86 and the salespeople had no idea what vehicle I was talking about. When I finally found someone who knew which car I was talking about, I was told by the finance manager that I would have to pay a 2500 NONREFUNDABLE deposit even though they had no delivery date. I contacted Gui at Nanaimo Toyota and he assured me that their franchise would not do that. I drove to Nanaimo, paid a 500 dollar REFUNDABLE deposit and ordered my car. Shawn was able to secure my car exactly the way I wanted it and got it delivered in the first allotment (limited availability). Gui took me through the car in great detail even though it was the first of its kind that he had seen and Shawn made the financing side of things a breeze. Nanaimo Toyota is an hour extra further drive from my house than Pattison Toyota in Duncan but well worth it every time. I would recommend both Gui and Shawn in a heartbeat.

Nothing but a great overall experience with this first class dealership. Salesman Alan was very helpful and a real pleasure to deal with. I came from out of town to purchase my used vehicle and Alan met us at the ferry terminal in Nanaimo which made it really convenient for us. I felt no pressure sales and came away with a great vehicle at a very fair price. This is where my experience gets the 5 star rating.....I've had a couple issues pop up with my new used vehicle and they didn't hesitate to have them fixed immediately in my home town at their expense. I have to give props to Dallas the used car sales manager, he called me direct and made all the calls to get my vehicle in to get repaired at my local dealership. I've got to say this is the most satisfying experience I've had buying through a dealership and won't hesitate to use them again in the future. UPDATE: Truck is a lemon. First the cab leaked, then A/C didn't work properly, then back up camera stopped functioning, this all in the first 2 months of ownership. Near 4th month the transmission failed, bad $olenoid, currently noticing some vibration in front end, cab leaking again (different spot), was getting poor mileage reading of under 10mpg so in go new $park plugs and wow now I'm getting close to 15 mpg! Body is starting to show lots of rusty rock chips from original owner and have a quote of $1000.00 for paint and body work. Oh and did I mention this is all under 4 months and very low mileage. They should be embarrassed for selling this piece of junk. I could have done better at a curb side dealer in the lower mainland which at least will give you 6 months warranty in most cases as well as a drive train warranty for peace of mind. No I didn't take an extended warranty because a) I couldn't afford it b) in 30 years of buying used vehicles from dealerships I've never bought one because of the trust Ive had buying from someone with a good reputation in the business and will stand by their product c) I wouldn't have guessed a dealer with a good rep would sell me a lemon d) I was naive and now I'm stuck with an unreliable money pit of a truck. All I can think while driving is what's going to go next and not a chance of getting any help from Nanaimo Toyota as they have stopped communicating with me.

Bought a used car here in May and within 1 month the engine started making loud grinding noises. Turns out we had ZERO oil in the vehicle. I had this checked and confirmed. Toyota took the vehicle in and it magically became 'fixed' afterwards... ever since then our engine light has been on and this hasnt been fixed even though we have told them. Not only that, but our whole fan motor was also replaced within a month.....Not to mention when we first purchased the vehicle, our salesman gave us the spare key and it broke instantly... the previous owner tried to glue it together and we werent told about this..... My whole family and myself are never going back here again.

I recently bought Prius Prime 2020 from Nanaimo Toyota. I was debating on if I should purchase 2019 or 2020, since there's a budget concern, Jeffery Kao who is kind enough to list all the pros and cons and help me with the final decision. I have a bunch of questions for him, and he gets back to me almost right away. You definitely want to purchase the car from the sales who knows the product very well and have more than a bit of car knowledge who will give you the most honest opinion. I am actually located in Vancouver, so it will take me 3 hour round trip to take the ferry to get my car. But I think the overall experience was worthing it. Jeffery is definitely a sales you want to go for if you are local. I am in love with my Prius Prime 2020, still full tank of gas after driving 1038 KM mileage and thanks to Jeffery Kao.

My husband and I went into the dealership with a plan to buy a Toyota RAV4 (2015). The sales man we got was really pleasant and friendly. However, he said he had to talk to his manager (Rick Faganello ) before he could okay the price. His manager left us waiting while he went to eat cookies, then talked to everyone on the sales floor. When he came into the room he was very rude and didn't take us seriously (we both look very young). Because of this we ended up going to the Toyota in Duncan and buying a RAV4 from them. They were incredibly friendly, made us feel like valued customers, and gave us a great deal. I would not recommend Nanaimo Toyota to anyone and I will be taking my SUV to Duncan to be serviced even though it is 45 minutes away.

If I could put zero stars I would - they are so friendly when your buying your car but forget about customer service once you actually have to use the warranty. I have had several bad experiences at the Nanaimo location with my car including doing extra work and then charging extra when it’s time to pay, making me wait 2.5 hours for an oil change, forgetting to put back mats when doing a detailing, and refusing to take extended warranty, BUT we are still paying for the extended warranty in our payments. Time and time again I’m disappointed in the service here and I understand that things happen, but the more I deal with Nanaimo Toyota, the more I feel I’m just being jerked around for more money.

On Saturday May 20th I brought my truck in for an Oil change and coolant flush, too bad everyone in the service department was too excited about the long weekend and only did the 1st step of the coolant flush and drained my coolant and then sent me on my way. My truck is currently sitting in my driveway with an insufficient amount of coolant to cool my engine. To top off this horrible experience the goof who did my complimentary wash scratched my tailgate so badly it will have to be repaired. I came to this dealership for expert service and instead was left without my truck for the long weekend because they can't hire anyone professional enough to do their job properly. After two serious service issues with my Toyota I have had with this dealership, I will never take my vehicle here again. Instead, I will drive to the dealership in Duncan or Victoria as I do not trust them at all with the safety of servicing my car. The first incident involved a servicing where after picking up my car, the issue still persisted and I called the dealership. I told them the problem still existed and they had no interest in fixing the issue and informed me I could pay again for diagnostics AFTER I had already paid for that in my servicing...Funny thing is, I took my car to another Toyota dealership and I was told I should not drive my car as it was not safe and they drove my 45 minutes home to Nanaimo. The last time I took my car in (and this is not even the time I had the most serious safety concerns with them) all the lights on my dash lit up like a Christmas tree and I happened to be passing by so I dropped in. My question was "is my car safe to drive?" Everyone was at lunch so I was told that they could book my car in for an appointment next week and no one could even tell me(or look) if it was safety to drive....My next Toyota, I will buy from another dealership out of town but not here again., EVER..!

Very very disappointed with the service. Have a highlander and a couple weeks ago took it for a oil change and to get it inspected, since I’ve been noticing a noise from the suspension. I was told the inspection would be around $120. A few hours later Toyota calls me and they say they have changed the oil but couldn’t figure out the problem, and they wanted to know if they could spend more time on the car. Of course I accepted because $120 was already spent and nothing had been solved. In the end the finall bill was $375 and they presented me a report that wasn’t even complete, i had to ask them to write everything they found wrong, it was handwritten and not specific at all. So i paid around $300 ($65 for the oil change) dollars to get a handwritten report of what is wrong with my car, is that toyota quality standard? Plus it was stated that the transfer output seal was leaking, and i asked how low the fluid was, and the answer was: “ i dont know, the guys dont check” what a hell? 300 dollars for not even checking how bad it is? Just to tell me its leaking? Funny thing is that i had a honda and switched for a Toyota because people said their service is “great”... really hard to believe.

The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is an amazing car that basically sells itself. However, the employees at Nanaimo Toyota helped us to learn the finer points of the vehicle in a very professional manner. We bought and took the car home with us in the same afternoon--thanks!! The only suggestion I have is to put better lighting in the car "pickup area," as there was a spot that needed to be buffed out from the cleaning, but we did not see that spot in the lighting that was inside the building--we only saw it after we arrived home. Once our salesmen, Jeffery, learned of the spot on the hood, he arranged to have us come in and have it buffed out.

Spent 45K on a new vehicle last week and we overlooked that the rear cargo mat was not part of the overall mat package. Sales person went to manager and sales manager would not even discount 10% on retail cost of the mat. We did not ask for it to be thrown in, just a one time discount even...not. Hey Nanaimo Toyota, you won the battle, but lost the war. I have already diverted one new sale you would have had to Jimmy Pattison Toyota Duncan...and trust me many more to come.

I was in Nanimo Toyota yesterday. This Toyata dealership has very slack Covid safety measures. There is an optional handsanatizing sation at entry and that is about it. Safe distancing nor mask protocol was followed. The office layout provided for 3-4 feet between the saleslperson and the customer, no mask or barrier . The salesperson stood beside me at the car and sat beside me in the car with no mask, even one their person. We stopped for gas and the salesperson got back into the car without sanitizing their hands or after reentering the Toyota building. I was the only one who stopped to use the sanitizer. While the salesperson was friendly and helpful I feel that this business needs to make more of an effort to keep its customers safe. Other businesses around town are really making an effort but not at this Toyota dealership. If you can't distance than wear a mask. They do know that their is a global pandemic right now, don't they?
