I was being helped by Chanttal,one of the sales reps. Off the top she was friendly, polite and welcoming. I was searching for a 2013 VW Golf R, a rarer car for sure. I found it at southland VW and on a whim I called. These cars will typically only sit a few days on used lots. Chanttal and I chatted via text and phone and we made a deal as I drove there. She really went the extra mile to make sure I got my car. Couple days after I had my new car she checked in on me and asked how the new car was. I've had nothing but poor experiences at every other VW dealership I've been to in my 15 years of owning a VW. This dealship and Chanttal were amazing. I have nothing but positive things to say about her and my experience with southland VW.

Update Two: My vehicle has been fixed by Southland Volkswagen. I appreciatec that Bob handled this manner respectfully. Unfortunate that I was not treated with respect from the onset. I've owned four VWs. Two from this dealership. My first purchase experience was great. My second one awful. That being said the service department has always been great to me. And I appreciate resolution in this matter even though it took significant complaint on my part. My star rating reflects my positive and negative experiences. It's been about 50/50 so a 2.5 is reasonable. As 2.5 is not an option I rounded up. ***********UPDATE: Since being in touch with the owner Bob Aaltonen, Bob has done everything in his power to remedy the situation caused by his Sales Manager Mazen Orabi. Ian Knell has proven to be honest in his dealings as a salesperson and been of assistance in making sure that the truth about the sale of my vehicle was known. Bob and Ben have been respectful and helpful in the resolution of this situation. They have not made excuses for their employee’s behaviour and have offered me acceptable and reasonable solutions. Southland will be paying for the undisclosed damage to my car at no cost to me. Thank you Bob for being a diligent business owner and rectifying this situation. Thank you also to Ben, Ian, Lorne w, and Lorne E for all of your assistance with this vehicle. I believe Sales Manager Mazen Orabi’s dishonesty and abhorrent customer service is unacceptable, I will put faith that those who supervise him will take corrective measures in regard to not only how he chooses to do business but how he chooses to treat others. I am editing my five star review from my previous purchase to a one star review. One star is even too much for this business and its business practices. I initially test drove a 2016 Passat but it was a little too pricey than my available credit. Lorne stated that there was a car that worked for me. I test drove a 2015 Passat and had some concerns. Mainly with the loose steering and interior cigarette smell. Lorne assured me that as a certified pre owned all issues would be fixed. As this is my second car with this dealership I trusted this to be true. Initially when picking up my car all seemed to be fixed. Hours later I noticed hail and body damage that was not visible in the previous lighting. I fully acknowledge that I should have taken a closer look at the point of purchase. But as the sales person is a friend and this is my second dealing with that dealership there was some trust there. Trust that was abused. Lesson learned. I reported the damage immediately. After the long weekend I spoke to Mazen about the issue. Who offered to trade it in and switch financing which I worried would affect my credit. I was then told that I clearly knew the car was damaged as I attended the hail sale. The problem being I never attended the hail sale nor was hail disclosed once in discussing this car. He then insisted I got a discount, a discount that was certainly not discussed with me or applied to my Bill of Sale. Mazen said I could call AMVIC but they wouldn't help me. As I was not satisfied with this I wrote a complaint to AMVIC who stated to me that undisclosed hail damage breaches the fair trading act. I spoke to my salesperson who spoke to the owner. The car was taken in to get fixed. The body shop was timely and did the best they could. However the car is still damaged. A car that I paid full price for. I updated AMVIC with the remedies put in place. According to AMVIC Southland insists that I knew the car was damaged as I bought it from the hail sale. This is beyond infuriating as I did not once go to their hail sale nor would I have opted for a hail damaged car as you can not get hail insurance on them. Who would opt to pay full price for a car with body damage that will be ineligible for full insurance? Certainly not me.

Buyer beware. I could write a book about this place regarding my grievances. I’m still owed $510 from this dealership for fuel filters that I had to have changed on the $60,000 truck I bought from them. The change fuel filter warning light came on the next day after purchasing it. They said they’d reemburse me but I submitted the work order over 2 months ago and I still haven’t been compensated. I had to involve AAMVIC to get them to have the bad transmission fixed on this truck so it doesn’t surprise me that they would be scumbagish enough to rip me off for $510. Good luck to you if you decide to buy a vehicle from them.

I came in to diagnosis a weird noise. I was informed the fix was going to cost 20% (900$) of what I paid for the vehicle (5000$) but No offer was made to talk to a salesman about replacing the vehicle in full or trade. So I replaced 2 parts for 20% the purchase value of vehicle. Since I work night shift, I recieved a courtesy ride home. Upon waking i called and they picked me up, fully expecting my vehicle to be ready, I arrived 1hour before close. An inexperienced technician bricked the radio and couldn't get it to power back on. Noone informed me the vehicle is still being troubleshooted when I called for the pickup ride, so I waited for over an hour in the waiting room. End of day the vehicle still was not fixed and i was informed i need to come back the next day. I brought my radioless vehicle back the following day and proceeded to wait in the waiting room for over 2.5hours. Not once during this time was a courtesy ride offered, nor was any update given on the progress or why it was taking so long still. Upon store closing I was yet again informed I needed to bring the vehicle back a 3rd time tomorrow. After all said and done, my check engine light came on within 60km of these repairs. Upsettingly no effort was originally made to diagnosis underlying issues that could be happening besides the issue I brought the car originally in for, even though they had showed up in scans done. Again no effort to upsale and replace the problem vehicle was made. I asked for a complimentary oil change because of the excessive waiting times, ( over 4hours total ), but got a cheaper 25$ tank of gas instead. With the hourly shop rate I paid plus the wait time I endured, I don't see why my time was so undervalued.

poor poor service....... Never have i ever felt so taken advantage of! i bought a vehicle a couple weeks ago and had problems from the day we took it home. When i went to pick it up and was going over all the paper work it was one thing after another. The Emergency brake was non- compliant and they told me because the way the deal was done there wasn't anything they could do with them bringing it in from somewhere else. They then told me it was going to be $1000 fix took some talking for them to say they would cover half... 4 days later there was a tick coming from my tranny that was brought to there attention, had them look at it and they said nothing! I brought it for another opinion and much wrong with the tranny! Then again once brought to there attention there is a real problem again get told there's nothing they can do!!! I should have never done business here ! if there was a negative star rating it would be well under that!!! Better purchase warranty to save yourself cause god forbid something goes wrong your on your own! if i wanted a fixer upper I wouldn't have chosen to spend $30,000 to do so.....

We purchased a vw golf sportswagon in 2017, let's just say the manager at the time and the sales rep were terrible. Bald tires, constantly shaking, only able to drive 102km as it was that bad, vehicle was not clean it was like someone took orange slush and sprayed it all over, and so much more bad then good. No response with a year of my requests, only broken promises if I got a response. Finally after dealing with the fear and frustration and going to dozens of other dealerships, for help with them telling me nope we are unable to help, I was at a loss. I did not want to cause problems but I needed help but mostly I needed someone to hear and listen to what happened and how I still felt, so I emailed Glen Trafford and WOW. He is amazing, and commendable for helping us even after having this vehicle for over a year. He simply brought back a to be honest hatred for a dealership restoring it to trust and being treated with professional, smiles, kindness and understanding. I feel safe now being able to drive to work or anywhere without fear is priceless. So thank you Glen and Lorne you made someone very happy and way more safe than she was before your help. Great staff here and the ChargePoint EV car charger out front was a life saver. It got us to 100% after 2.5 hours. The garage took a look at the front left tire in the car as the pressure was low, discovered nothing wrong other than it needed more air.

My experience with Volkswagen has been hell. I purchased a vehicle from them in March. Within 2 hours of purchase, my so noticed some serious problems with it. Including cigarette butts in the motor, along with various other issues. They did rectify some exterior issues though. For the other issues, because it was a Kia, they quickly brushed me off to be Southland Kia's problem.(Same owner). 3 weeks of being at Kia, they thought they had it good and fixed. Nope. Same thing. So by now it is may/June. My vehicle has been determined to need a new motor. So at the beginning of June it has sat at the Kia dealership. It is now September. I still do not have my car that I am paying on. All because Southland Volkswagen sold me a pos, and refused to help me in anyway, except to fluff me off on the Kia dealership. I just want a working vehicle. But, it has been in the shop more than I have even driven it. It has been like 6 months!!! Ridiculous. All Southland Volkswagen needed to do is give me a better vehicle and we would not be having any issues! I will never, ever give them my money EVER again! They will screw you over.

My new car from another dealer was under a year old and was totaled in a collision, I was set to purchase the new model from that dealer but the first experience was just awful, and this second time was starting to feel the same way. When you spend the time and money on a car purchase you would like to feel good about it. I left said dealer and I was driving down the road rethinking my whole life lol... when I decided to turn into VW and check out the Tiguan as it had come up positively in my car research. I was rolling through to tale a look when Ravi approached me and asked what I needed. I rattled off the details of the situation, that I was in a rental etc and had to return it in 2 days. I advised him what my needs/wants were and my price range. He ran to get the keys to this beautifully loaded R-Line model... I fell in love ????. I took it for a spin on my own (I prefer that) and came back ready to strike a deal. The whole process was accommodating and informative; from Ravi to the Sales Manager Dan to Lorne in Finance. Every single aspect was quick but efficient and informative. I felt VERY cared for, which I loved! I was able to leave with a huge smile on my face and excited to drive my new car ???? ???? They really made everything possible in such a short time and allowed me to have the rental car company pick it up there with Ravi taking the keys for me. We were suddenly in the market for a used vehicle after my wife was rear ended which wrote off our vehicle. It was a Toyota Venza and we loved it so we shopped around and found one at Southland Volkswagen. We live in Calgary so I phoned and asked to speak to someone in sales and I was connected to Casey Reeder. Casey was very helpful in getting us information on the Venza they had on their lot over the phone and also by texting me pictures of the vehicle and the Carfax report so we could go through it over the phone together. I was fully prepared to drive from Calgary to Medicine Hat to pick up the car but Casey offered that we could figure something out like meeting halfway in Brooks. Once we had settled on a price Casey had the car fully detailed and even sent it for an extra power polish because he wanted it to be perfect for us (his exact words!). Once that was complete he got in touch and offered to deliver the car to Calgary for us! Casey went above and beyond to help us get a replacement vehicle and made this process so easy from a different city! Lorne the finance manager was also great to deal with and made the process quite simple. I would highly recommend Southland Volkswagen and if you happen to get in touch with them make sure to ask for Casey!!

I travel from out of town to buy my vehicles at Southland VW, I've always driven VW's and/or VW family vehicles. I buy Volkswagens becasue I love the product, but I buy them from Southland because of Tyler Cade. He's such a stand up guy that will go to bat, and try and get you the best deal possible. I've purchased 5 or 6 vehicles from Southland VW in the past and Tyler (and Ben) have played a major part in my decision to give Southland my business everytime.

I bought my car Dodge Journey 2014 from southland Volkswagen.same day on the way home I noticed fan blower motor making different noise next day took back to garage we found faulty on fan blower motor need to replace it was bit expensive $600.but they said past is past I have to pay myself.before I leave the garage I asked for warranty but Mr Casey who deal car with me he told me I will confirm with my boss and call you back but he never call me when I asked again they said we sold the car that’s it you have nothing like that.another thing I noticed when we checked the car they are pretend like too rush they don’t want to explain everything even we ask kind of hiding something.so this kind of customer deal how can I go to this garage in future again and how do I suggest my friends and colleagues to go visit for car?????very very unsatisfied ,,,

I am the voice of experience! I have bought 4 cars over the last 15 years here and I can tell you they are always fair. You have to haggle of course, this is part of the game, but it seems they are not looking to make a killing on every used car but rely on high volume for profits. I have dealt with GMC and Ford and its not pleasant, its all about commission. Here they are a treat do deal with.....I actually enjoyed it! They also have some interesting cars for sale, Mercedes, BMW, Audi a lot better than the run of the mill North American dealership. Service Center is only average though....its a money maker for them, and pretty ruthless. Do your homework on the vehicle, check out prices, likely trouble areas, arm yourself with TONS of knowledge, you must know what to look for, tip the odds in your favour by research, don,t buy a car that is a known lemon and expect a good outcome. I bought a Toyota Matrix and after taking it to Calgary and owning it for a couple of weeks, decided I hated it, they took it back no problems and couldn't have been more helpful, try that at at the neighboring dealerships! I ended up with a Mercedes C230 which has been a workhorse and NO issues in nearly 10 years.

We bought a used vehicle on weekend and drove 4 hrs to get there. If shopping online be very cautious of their ads as they are not very truthful. Make sure all advertised as option is really on the vehicle!! As not all things you would use on your test drive so would not catch such as cruise, bluetooth and what would an SUV be to you? 4-wheel/all wheel not on the vehicle we bought.

Andre told me I had one hour to make a decision on my 2017 ford trade-in. "You are buried in debt, so you might as well take the deal!" I explained I might need a few hours to consider the offer. He replied that his sales manager Tom told him "I should take the deal now, because after today Volkswagen was not interested in my vehicle." I explained that I can't even drive the overpriced Rio I just test drove, the engine cover was in the backseat and the left headlight and signal light did not work. At first he didn't didn't believe me, but Andre confirmed it. Laughable. If you want customers to return or not -rep, you should not lie to them. Come to this establishment if you enjoy salesman pressuring you and extremely long wait times. Can't believe I'm even saying this, but House of Cars and Honda were much more honest and timely.

I bought a used 2015 dodge dually from these guys for $60,000. I expected a quality truck for that kind of money but the first day I had it, it got stuck in 1st gear. I found out that the transmission was shot and had already been rebuilt once. I know their used vehicles are from auction so I didn't blame them but the factory warranty wouldn't cover the repair because the deletes had been done and the so called high end vw warranty wouldn't cover the repair because it was a pre existing condition. Then southland tried to not cover it. I eventually had to involve AMVIC to force them to fix it which took a full month. The change fuel filters light came on on the first day I had it as well. Trevas assured me that they would re emburse me the $510 that I paid for fuel filters which they didn't do. I've replaced turbo filter, diff fluid and a bunch of other things. Then after I spent a lot of money getting it in good shape they had the nerve to call me and ask me if I'd consider selling it back to them. These guys are true scumbags. Beware.

Recently purchased a jeep from here. The sales staff and finance staff was good to me. Extremely happy with finance because they kept their word to me from a year ago. The reason I'm leaving a 2 star rating is because after I purchased the jeep I noticed a bad noise coming from the front end. When I called and asked about the noise I was told I would have to pay for the diagnostic on the vehicle which was at that point less than 48hrs old to me. I took the jeep to a different shop that I trusted more (after all when I was purchasing the jeep I was told there was nothing wrong with it.) It took the second shop less than 10 minutes to figure out the wheel bearing was completely shot. When I phoned to southland they said they wanted a second opinion... they took it for a test drive and confirmed with themselves that it was in fact worn and needed to be replaced. After been given the run around for a few days they finally came back and told me they were only willing to pay half which I felt was unfair. After arguing for sometime, they finally gave in and replaced the part free of charge to me. It was more of a headache than it was worth. Especially after they repaired it, I had to readjust my steering stabilizer so I could fully turn left.

My Original review online is too long of characters for google reviews so here's a shorter version. BUYER BEWARE — and I know for fact after this is posted the dealership will ban me from their page and try and have this deleted as they are known for doing so whenever they receive a bad review, so people don’t see what’s going on at this dealership. Before I made my purchase I had been warned about buying used vehicles here, well I bought new and thought well it has warranty so if i have issues it will all be taken care of....well I sure thought wrong.....In December 2016 I purchased a BRAND NEW 2017 VW Golf TSI...of course the service was great purchasing it - they would do anything to get the sale. Less than a month after purchasing it I have had quite a few issues, one that has been ongoing is the panoramic sunroof making these crazy creaking noises that sounds like the glass is going to shatter. I have got so sick of dealing with this dealership for warranty because of how I have been talked to... Especially after they told me they were going to take out the sunroof and then when I called about it not being fixed after I had picked it up again and about going to get a 2nd opinion, Travas told me no they didn't actually take it apart and they would not pay for me to have a 2nd opinion unless it was a place they approved, so he booked it with hi-tech collision, meanwhile I went and got a 2nd opinion on my own anyways as this issue has been going on over a year and a half, my 2nd opinion place knew exactly what was wrong in 15 minutes of being there, so I went and bought the stuff and fixed it myself for $10 and 5 minutes of my own time. How on earth can certified VW mechanics not have figured this out in a year or know how to take a sunroof apart, not to mention they thought it was the dog toys making more noise (picture attached - on my invoice they gave me) and I had provided them videos of the sound. They will find anything not to do warranty work for their customers and keep doing the same thing over and over again (mine seemed to be greasing it). Also be aware how this dealership charges out things, they had given me a free service for what was wrote on the invoice, meanwhile they tell me I need an air filter and cabin air filter, told me the price, I said I will just buy the parts and do it myself.....good thing I did because they wanted to charge me an extra $80 to change them....even though they already had them out to look at them lol(I can see a couple bucks but not $80), when I changed them myself the air filter definitely did NOT need changing, so if you have them change things make sure you ask for your old parts back. Other issues I had to deal with that were a run around was the consul that needed replacing that had me bringing in my car like 3 or 4x and the windshield leaking water inside my car (Ben- GM - Dealt with the windshield after I talked to a condescending person named Ron who told me to shove a Kleenex in it and come back the week after - Ben covered the windshield and detailed my car - as they should for the way I was talked to). This dealership again will do anything to get the sale but afterwards beware and take caution. I wish more people had positive responses from this dealership and this dealership knows how frustrated I have been, I have expressed that to many people there including Trevas, Ben, Taylor, Cole & Tyler, when you spend the chunk of change you do on a brand new vehicle this isn't the service one expects to receive. *update: windshield ended up leaking again & we have sold the car because of the issues.

Traded in my vehicle for a bigger one and have had nothing but disappointment. So much went wrong in the first month, I took it to VW and they suggested I get into a whole new vehicle. After looking around I found one I liked and in order to give me what I paid for the sorento I they had to increase the price of the other vehicle by $5,000. They replaced the head unit and it didn’t fix anything. Then said I had to go to Kia to get them to fix it and after talking to them I found out I had to pay for it. Had I known that there were all these issues I would not have purchased the sorento. Needless to say, I’m incredibly disappointed.

I honestly don't know how people rate this place a 5 star. I bought a, new to me, 2014 VW with 95k on it, and it had problems that I wasn't fully aware of, but hey, as long as I sign the papers it's not their problem anymore, right? According to Mazen that is. Oh well. The car runs perfect now that i had to dump almost 3 thousand nearly 2 months after getting it. Wont be going there ever again.

A bit long, but worth the read. Bear with me. Poor experience. If I could rate this place 0 stars I would. I was already hesitant to come look at a car here due to everyone's well-known negative experiences, but went anyways. Messaged with the dealership about a specific vehicle I found online, was assured they had it and set up a time the next day to come view it. Showed up to view the vehicle, test drove it, and went inside to talk numbers. During this I was informed that the one we test drove was actually $10,000 more than the one we found online, and that the one online was actually sold. So they put us into a vehicle that was far more money, knowing full well that the vehicle we discussed wanting to come look at did not even exist there anymore. Got up to leave as soon as they told us this vehicle wasn't there and was pressured into looking at another one. Would not give straight answers, or even answer some questions we even asked. Way over-valued our trade in to make the deal seem sweeter, and when I called them out repeatedly on this they finally clarified what they had done. Tried to get us back inside to continue working us but we declined. Received multiple text messages over the next couple days asking us when we were going to come back and make a decision. When we did not relent, we received a message from the sales manager asking the same thing. It was at this point I informed him that after all the deception and outright lies I had walked across the parking lot and bought a Toyota. Checked back multiple times over the next weeks and the vehicle we originally went to look at was STILL on their website for sale showing available. Even inquired about it to the same salesperson and they said it was still available. The only positive thing I can say is the salesperson was very knowledgeable about the features of the vehicle we ended up looking at. I have made sure to share my experience with everyone I know in hopes to save someone from getting worked over.

I bought new and used vehicles from here. The new ones were fine but the used ones were awful. They said they were full inspected but within a year almost $10,000 worth of warranty work had to be done. I took the vehicle to an actual dealership that sold that type of model and they couldn't believe how many items they checked off as good but weren't. They lie and cheat just to sell over priced garbage. Mazen... This guy is a wolf in sheeps clothing, if I were to see this man on the street and he said hello I'm sure my greeting will be much worse. NEVER buy from these people! The people that give good reviews is because they bought new. Anyone who has bought a used car here will have a different story. Someone put it best that they are just a used car dealership that sells new VW. They are known amongst the other VW dealerships in southern Alberta as one of the worst. They would even recommend you run from these people. Scabs, crooks, thieves, con-artist are just a few of the adjectives one can use to describe them. I hope you read this Mazen.... F.U.!

I became a Southland VW customer in January of this year, when I purchased a pre-owned Beetle. This is the first time that I have owned a VW vehicle, and I am completely sold on the Volkswagen brand. One of the reasons that I have switched to Volkswagen is due to the excellent service that I received, and continue to receive, from the Sales, Service and Finance Departments. Mazen (Sales), Lorne (Finance) and Service Manager Jody and her team in the Service Department are all exceptional in catering to the requirements of their customers. Mazen was extremely thorough and knowledgeable in advising me on my purchase. He is also a personable and polite consultant who encourages return business from his customers. Jody, Tayler and Paul take the time to listen to and address customer concerns, without making the customer feel inferior for raising any vehicle-related issues. I feel comfortable when booking in my car for inspections/servicing, as Steve and his Technicians are highly skilled and experienced in their work. As for Finance, Lorne is one of the most intelligent and well informed finance consultants whom you will ever meet. One outstanding aspect of the Southland VW experience is the dealer's active commitment to the local community and to charitable causes. One also feels this sense of community when entering the main doors to the showroom. Not many dealerships can boast this extension to their roles as sales and service consultants. I work with people on a regular basis and recommend Southland VW to any individual looking for a new vehicle. I will continue to do so.

I went in to Southland Volkswagen expecting fully to meet with a typical car sales person (I have had some bad experiences at other dealerships in the past) and man was I wrong! Instead I met up with a fellow named Andre. He was honest and he listened to my needs. Unfortunately he didn't have the right vehicle for me on his lot but he is actively pursuing a Range Rover for me and I am happy to wait for him to do so.I HIGHLY recommend this guy if you want to be treated right. My boyfriend took his Audi to get serviced as he was having issues with his turbo in his car, not only did they charge him nearly 200 dollars over what they quoted (quote $456, charged $640) to “fix the issue” they made the issue even worse and it was promptly returned for another look, upon pick up of re diagnosis they tried to charge him another $165 for figuring out the issue they should’ve caught in the first place. I don’t recommend anyone to service their vehicle at such an incompetent and thieving dealership.
