(Translated) If you are heading for Canadian Rockies from Vancouver on the VIA Rail, get off at Jasper after staying in the car. The quaint station building, built in 1926, is a venerable building that was certified as a Canadian National Historic Site in 1992. The ceiling is high and the wooden beams are beautiful. There is a small cafe in the back left of the waiting room. When crossing the continent by rail, the stop time is about an hour, so you can stroll around the station and the town. Don't forget your ticket when you get off the train. Necessary when re-boarding. This is a quaint little station, I love coming through here a couple times a year. Between trains it reminds me of old days, with lots of folks coming and going even though it’s a small station. Get the bubble tea in the quick stop!

VIA Rail - Jasper train station is beautiful and picturesque, but their Wifi is as slow as the trains of Via Rail Canada.

My fiancé and I took the train, it was was 9 hours late!! I directed my concerns to customer service and they have advised me that it is there policy to never compensate passengers regardless of the incident. It's all in the disclaimer. VIA Rail can not promise a general time frame or even day you the train will arrive. VIA Rail advises customers not to make any reservations of hotels or connecting transportation. The customer service is almost non existent, there is no phone directory that takes complaints, only an e-mail address, FAX number and mailing address. VIA Rail does not have the right of passage meaning delays WILL occur. Our first and only experience with VIA Rail was by far the worst traveling experience and customer service experience of our lives. I have attached a picture of the view we had of the mountains...

Very unimpressed with the security guard at this station during my visit. THIS IS IN NO WAY A REFLECTION OF VIA RAIL. I arrived by train into Edmonton around 5:15 am on January 12th, 2015 and had missed my connecting bus to Lethbridge due to unforeseen circumstances on the rail journey. Usually the station closes at 1 am after the last bus leaves to Calgary (which I was supposed to be on). My issue came when I was kicked out by the security guard at approximately 5:40 am with all of my bags (large 20" laptop bag, medium duffle bag, backpack and large suitcase) while it was -30°c outside. Usually I'm fine with rules set out and everything but what irks me here is that there was probably 5 of us who were waiting for the 8 am bus to Calgary and we were all kicked out until the station opened at 6 am. Now usually it would be whatever, I'll wait outside and enjoy some fresh air, however with how cold it was that was not an option so I, along with a few others had to spend money on cabs to go elsewhere for 20 minutes while homeboy secured an empty station.

12 hour late, no effort to compensate - many people missed connections. I lost a car hire deposit. Staff did a good job to remain polite and professional in a tough situation. Do NOT expect to arrive on time - people traffic is low priority compared to freight. Fly or drive!!

Long delay no compensation or anything is fine okay I got it. But they should have let me know at least. They didn’t even have any bulletin board online. It was an early morning train had to take a cab and that was the worst experience ever. And guess what long delay?? Is it a small town problem or just Canada itself? So disappointing.

Best memory on Oct.2016 travellinig from Toronto to Edmonton and then Jasper to Vancouver. Friendly staff, very delicious food and professional service. The attandants are so caring.Whole day coffee, fruit, and petit beurre.

Jasper Station is housed in a beautiful heritage structure which was reconstructed after a fire burned it down almost 95 years ago. It is managed by the Canadian National Railway. Both VIA Rail and The Rocky Mountaineer use the station as transit points for their tourist trains. There is a large high ceiling-ed waiting hall cum lounge where passengers can relax till their trains arrive. Heavy suitcases can be weighed at the check-in baggage counter next to the VIA Rail inquiry counter. Free tourist literature about the Rocky Mountains and the rest of western Canada can be picked up from the racks. VIA Rail souvenirs on display can be purchased here. Complimentary tea and coffee with cookies is available, and there are clean restrooms, and free Wi-Fi. There is a restaurant, coffee and gift shop in the annex. There is a large parking lot in the building compound. Services of tourist buses and taxis can be availed at the kiosks within the station. The station is within a short walking distance from downtown Jasper and the shopping boulevard is just across the road. One can easily walk across to a regular restaurant while The Canadian stops at Jasper for its onward journey to Toronto.

Helpful staff and good location for getting food and token gifts during Via Rail layovers (Tim's, KFC, Subway, etc. 5-10min away on foot). The surroundings are picturesque! And the station itself is a heritage building. Good experience with employee Andrew - as a person with a disability, pleasant interactions about priority boarding help ease travel anxiety. Thanks!

just experienced a round trip from Jasper to Prince Rupert. Stayed in Prince Rupert and fished on two different charter boats ( Rich of Sea West Charters) with my wife and two friends from Venice FL. Caught king salmon. coho salmon, ling cod, halibut and various rock fish. On the way back from fishing pulled two traps we set for Dungeness crabs in the morning, had 11 keepers, Great day. Train ride was through beautiful country with great views in the dome car. Passenger trains have to pull on sidings as freight trains have the right of way, so going was 4 hrs late and on the return 2 hrs late. We were warned ahead of time. Ronald Susmelv was service mgr and did excellent job keeping us informed and the food /drink bar provided all needed items.Great trip if you have time and are flexible.

Jasper is a very tourist oriented town, which makes it VERY expensive! That being said, it is a very picturesque mountain village with many shops, restaurants and cafés. The Via Station is a National Historic Site and is well preserved. However, when trains are arriving/departing it is very crowded and noisy as the station itself is very small.
