Booked an appointment to get my 2012 Elantra fixed and was only informed after I dropped the car off and was halfway home that there was a 135.00$ charge just to find out the problem. Not once when I was talking to the service department did they tell me of the charge. When I dropped off the keys the service advisor never mentioned the inspection charge. Only when I was gone did he call and ask for an authorisation to charge the amount. Absolutely dishonest dealership. They obviously wait for the customer to leave hoping that they will just say ok. Even if you go ahead with the repair they leave the charge there, so it cost you 135$ before they even charge you for the repair. If they just told me before hand I could have made the choice to go ahead with the appointment or say no. Brought the car to Speedy auto.Way better service and more honest than Surgenor Hyundai.

I experienced some of the best customer service I’ve ever had from this dealership. If you need service ask for Cory (friendly Guy, and he’s on the ball). If you’re looking for a car ask for Marc (very helpful and made the effort to help me even tho I wasn’t buying a car) You won’t be upset with them. They even had my SUV washed for me and picked me up from Avis rental car downtown on a Friday at rush hour. 5 star experience.

I bought a Hyundai Elantra from Surgenor a little over year ago. The battery needed to be replaced when I got it and they replaced it no problem. A couple of months later, my battery died again. They determined that it was the autostart that was faulty. Replaced something called the immobilizer and replaced the battery again. Since then, I've been taking my car in for several different issues. Once I get in and their mechanics look at it, the issues always stem back to the autostart. I've visited this dealership with issues relating back to my autostart at least 4 times. This comes all to a fever pitch yesterday when I brought it in again because when they "fixed" my auto start the last time, they didn't check how long my car would run for before shutting off. At this point I am very frustrated and demanded that the whole car gets checked over and to ensure that the issues I've been having isn't solely rooted in the autostart. They had to reprogram one of my keys on my visit yesterday which caused my autostart to fail completely. I spoke with the service person who said there isn't anything they can do because it's no longer covered under warranty. However, this has been documented since day 1 of purchasing the car, this is a preexisting issue. I eventually get transferred to the service manager who explains to me that they no longer make the part because they have been historically faulty and Hyundai has decided that they no longer make the part (He first used the word recalled and then back tracked to discontinued). I've been taking my car in regularly for over a year for a part that has been historically faulty and instead of dealing with the issue they band-aid it over and over again for a year until my car is out of warranty. I realize that the autostart is not major component of the car. But the fact is that your service department and mechanics have wasted my time for over a year now over a part that your service manager has admitted to me tends to be faulty. I tried to reach out to the person who sold me the car and the GM. I was reassured that someone would contact me, but I have yet to hear word so far.

Never trade a car with them, we had a really bad experience. My mom in law got a call from surgenor to trade her Hyundai Accent 2014, they told her that they're going to take her car and pay the rest, and that she will only have to pay only the price of the new car. She got an Hyundai elentra 2016 pre owned with 40000km. They took advantage of the fact that she doesn't understand much English, and made her sign the paper, she now has to pay 32k$ for the car. They're not honest.

We first met with sales consultant Elizabeth Oliveira. She was friendly and informative. We went for a test drive. We didn't love the feel of the car and ultimately, that's why we didn't buy. However, I've given their service only 3 stars because they still employ the "I've got to talk with my manager to get a price" ploy. All we wanted was a ballpark price. None of the other four dealerships (different brands) we visited use this outdated method. Give your sales people the power to bargain! Also, the sales manager, a guy, lectured us on how great their sales and repair department is and how eager they are to connect with new customers. Everyone wants new customers. When you're talking with two women, please don't mansplain to us.

2 years ago my Ford broke down on Donald St. A nice gentleman pulled over helping me push it off to the side of the road, after chatting for a bit he handed me a business card Surgenor Hyundai. A couple days later after discussing with my wife, it was time to buy ourselves our first new car. We went to see this gentleman and the service was awesome. We got our self a new car 30$ below our budget with more features than we expected and a warranty that makes us sleep better at night. The reason I'm writing this review 2 years later is that this gentleman and I have cross paths again at my work bar Newfoundland Pub. He remembered me asked how everything was with the car and was an actual genuine person. If all salesmen were like him we would be stuck in a Vortex but this guy sets the bar High and the service is outstanding. Marc StEnson thank you very much from my wife and I.

For anyone intrested in buying a vehicle, I do not recommend going to Surgenor Hyundai dealership on St-Laurent. I bought a Santa Fe from them last year and after a few months it started doing a jurking motion. Given that I worked full time as a nurse during the pandemic I did not have a free second to take my car in. I finally took it in last month because it did the jurking motion on the highway and the car abruptly stopped. It was the scariest thing I had ever experienced. At the dealership they pretty much had to take the car apart to find the issue and they want me to pay for it when in fact it is a manufacturing issue. I am disgusted that they will sell me a vehicle in that condition. They are only intrested in one thing and one thing alone... make a sale. As Sean (from the service department) so elegantly put it "we are in this business to make money". And they made that perfectly clear. ***I do want to add that I spoke with Jace and he was lovely. He tried his best to find a way to get to the bottom of the matter. He even provided me with a car while he drove my car around to determine what the issue is. But at the end of the day, I was asked to pay over $1500 non of which would guarantee to fix the issue.

Beware **Dishonest when it comes to trading in your car**. They evaluated a lease with remaining months, said they would buy it at the buyout amount with no carry over in the new contract. Only to discover they refinanced about $5,000 in the new finance. Before finalizing they said there would be no carry over, then when asked again they said 'ok, there's $1,000 carry over'. However when calculating the online price vs financed amount, we estimate roughly $5,000 in discrepancy. Will spare the remaining details.

Eric was extremely helpful, as I brought my car in for a Service 3 that #HuntClub #Dilawri charged me for, but didn't do. Eric made sure there was documentation of this, including photo and video that I was able to submit to Hyundai Canada. Unfortunately, #Hyundai Canada treated me very badly and will do nothing to hold Hunt Club to account. Hunt Club Dilawri reneged on their promise to refund me if Surgenor provided documentation. Surgenor, however, is to be commended for the integrity and transparency they showed. They do well if they are showing their appreciation for associates like Eric. Evidently, nearly not every Hyundai employee demonstrates his attention to customer care (to Hyundai's peril).

I had a recall on my car and I decided to wait there and it took me 5.5 hours. They offer you free coffee and water, but no snacks or something. I also missed my phone charger as there is none. Please buy your Hyundai from anywhere else. Brought my car in before I sold it to have the mileage recorded. This was for the rebate cheque as Hyundai 'misreported' the mpg for the 2011 Elantra year. Surgenor failed to submit the paperwork and claims it never happened, I am now out several hundred dollars from Hyundai Canada. Have attempted to resolve this multiple times with no assistance.

Buying a car at this place for as like pulling teeth. Actually caught the sales manger trying to reduce the value of my trade in by $200. But that's peanuts compared to an absolute failure of a service department being ran at this place. I won't mention previous issues, but what triggered this review follows: Got a set of rims from them and asked to put my winter tires on. Steel rims, clip weights. Drove one season, front left wheel developed rotational noise. Noticed a loose weight. Came in, described the issue, got charged $70 for "diagnostics" and was told that I probably hit some ice which is why weight came loose. Fair enough, it was time to change to summer wheels anyway. Came in yesterday to swap wheels back on. Picked up today since shop was too busy. Fair. Went to check the weights, same weight (I marked it) is loose to the point that I can move it by hand around the circumference of the rim. ????‍♂️ The second star is for the service rep being helpful.

I rarely write reviews, but the amazing service I received this week in an emergency situation calls for one! I had my car towed into the shop around 11am and by 3pm I was back at the dealership picking my car up. Great experience today! Leasing an Elantra, and I am more than happy with my prices. I was a bit taken aback, that when I was offered "free winter tires", that it didn't come with rims. Luckily my boyfriend clarified the next day I was in, and I was told of this extra cost. Overall though, I would definitely still recommend this Hyundai of all in Ottawa (I visited the Bank st., Hunt Club, and Barrhaven locations). I'd give them a zero if it was an option. Never buy a used car from these people. They will say one thing and do another. They were supposed to replace all the brakes before I bought the vehicle. They replaced the front ones that wore out in 9 months (poor quality parts). The back ones they just cleaned up regardless of the stipulations in place. They were supposed to sand and paint over some troubling rust spots, which are rusty the exact same way again. Nothing but problems and terrible customer service. The sales guy who we bought it from no longer works there. Everyone else I have spoken to has been super rude and trying to give the run around and the excuse that it is "normal wear and tear." If you say you are going to do something, then you do it. Common business ethics! My back brakes are done. Their comment "well we cleaned them up, and now they're done because of wear and tear." That's fine and dandy if they hadn't said they'd REPLACE them before I bought it as it was agreed upon as a stipulation of me purchasing the vehicle. If they had replaced them as they said they would, they shouldn't have been worn out now. However, considering the very low quality parts they use, who knows if that is true. Their next fix to the situation "we will pay for half of the repair. $250." Considering I can get back brakes fixed for that price, and they should have been replaced to begin with, that's a slap in the face. I will never, ever give this place another penny. After paying off this vehicle I was going to buy a brand new Hyundai because of how great the sales agent was when I bought this vehicle. After the (dis)service I have received, my business will be going elsewhere. If you're truly looking for a Hyundai, go to any of the other dealers within the Ottawa limits. Stay clear of this place. They're crooks and liars.

Went to Surgenor on Saturday looking to buy a new car. I knew what I wanted and didn't need to test drive anything. Literally went in and asked for information on pricing and financing. The sales rep was rude and super shady. He kept repeating his questions, making weird excuses like he had to justify every question he asked, and kept leaving the room to chat with his colleagues next door. He also kept my keys (he took them at the start to appraise my trade-in) the whole time so we couldn't just leave. We were at the dealership for over an hour (!) to finally just get a price for the car I wanted, and I hand't even started to negotiate on pricing yet! When he finally brought back my keys and a paper with prices scribbled on it, he literally snatched it away and held it to his chest, hiding it from us, when we tried to copy the information. Extremely painful experience. Would never go back.

We came to Surgenor Hyundai through a referral and didn't hesitate purchasing here. We originally came in for one car and purchased two. Mike and Bob were amazing. There was ZERO pressure to buy. We laughed and joked through the whole process, including negotiating a price we were all happy with. They were honest and told us what was realistic for our trade-ins, and final sale prices. They went out of their way to locate certain colours for us and got the cars in as soon as they could. Before we came to Surgenor we looked at 3 other Hyundai dealerships in Ottawa, and 1 outside of Ottawa. The volume dealer we looked at in Ottawa asked us to put down a deposit and sign a deal on the spot to secure the price. That kind of sales methods were what we were trying to stay away from (we even told them to not do that to us before we saw them). Sean was great to deal with from the Finance perspective; he laid out all options and said what he needed to say and it was up to us to decide on whether we wanted any extended options. He did his job fairly without pressure and tacky sales pitches like "its one less coffee a day". We highly recommend this dealership for sales and future service. Having just had a bad buying experience at a different Hyundai dealership this past January, it was refreshing to be treated with genuine respect and fairness. We wish we had the referral sooner!

My family has dealt with the Surgenor brand in the past, and had great service, so it was wonderful to be able to continue that relationship. I worked with Sillin and had a great experience. In my time at the dealership, she explained all the features of the car, and was patient with me as I asked all my questions and when I wanted to test drive another version of the same car. She was always very positive and made me feel very comfortable with my purchase. In the end, I walked away paying exactly what I wanted to and got the car I wanted. There was a minor issue with the car on delivery, but Sillin is working hard to get that fixed. I will update my review once the issue has been resolved.

Somebody knows Something I went in for a transmission flush I came out with a broken power window switch-totally unrelated things. I entered my car to leave, rolled my window down to say thank you to the serviceman in sight, I tried to roll up the power window and it kept rolling back down. Tell me how that happens. I am this car’s sole daily driver so I would know if an obvious part like the driver’s window switch (button) had collapsed. To tell me that isn’t because my vehicle is old and things will start to fall apart is rather obnoxious…or are you trying to say it’s as common as customer vehicles breaking from the service station? I’ve had things like these done by dishonest mechanics around town-sole reason I came to the dealership no matter the cost…and here I am. You said there are cameras everywhere and if a mistake was made you would find out, so find out what happened to my car window.

Update: I wish to cancel the review above. After the review I gave, I guess the staff decided they could screw me over. I had to get my car towed because my battery died. I called a towing company and they gave me a boost. I was told I could drive my car to the dealership to get my car checked. The 'service' staff saw me coming!! They told me my battery was dead. I explained that the battery was only a year and half old, but they insisted I needed a new battery. I was really pissed off. So I gave in and paid $320.00 for a new battery and labour. Was I happy? No!!! When telling people about this experience, three of them said: "All they had to do was recharge it.' I am really disappointed with these people and will definitely look for another dealership to take my business to. And what's with the 5-star rating. I never had to option to rate I don't think. And now I can't seem to change it. Is the owner controlling the rating, 'cuz it sure isn't controlled by me.

We have been customers of Surgenor for five years now, having very happily bought our Santa Fe from Tarek in 2016. Their service department has always been top notch. For instance, this week our sunroof got stuck in the "open" position...right before it was forecast to downpour. They took the car in, kept it in the service bay overnight, and gave us a loaner when the immediate fix didn't work. It took a week to get the car back but we had wheels and they cleaned up well after the messy job. We plan to return to Surgenor when it's time to trade in our Santa Fe!

Great dealership. if your looking to buy speak with Jayce Sheehan. My 2012 Sonata was purchased from Surgenor Hyundai and I really liked the overall performance of the car. Drove the car from Ottawa to Los Angeles and back and it was very comfortable through out the trip in all weather condition. The engine experienced some problems at 95000k and I was concerned that the car was a write off. Jayce Sheehan saw that I had posted my concerns online and contacted me. He told me to bring in my car and that Surgenor Hyundai would take car of everything. He even offered me a rental car at no expense even though my car was no longer on warranty. Within 3 days the people at Hyundai replaced my engine and performed several other repairs to may car. All the work was performed for free with zero hansel and no terms and conditions. It was all done on Jayce Sheehan's word and his team at Surgenor delivered on their promise. Great dealership.

My experience was very horrible and the sheer apathy and unprofessionalism is indescribable. Had to return my car to the shop for the same problem that was supposedly fixed by them two months prior. Upon arrival, I was initially told that I declined to fix the problem during my last visit (two months) ,according to their records, and as such they are not responsible for the remergence of the fault. This was a blatant lie and thankfully I had my old receipts from my last visit which clearly indicated that I did not decline the service and I was indeed charged for it. They then accepted responsibilty and took the car to the garage to work on it. Came back a few minutes later that they cannot fix it and that I need to buy a new engine since the original problem is somehow connected to the engine. This was highly unfair and so I insited they at least fix the old problem because I cant buy a new engine due to a problem they claimed to have fixed a few weeks ago. They agreed again to fix ,left the car and two weeks passed without hearing any thing from them. Called to find out the cause of the delay and inquire about potential timeline and I was told a third party is now involves so they can not tell me when the car will be fixed. After waiting for more than two weeks, and spending almost 600 dollars on rental,my car was not fixed and I had to take it from them and get a new mechanic. On what planet is this fair ? How can a business sideline the satisfaction of a customer to this extent.? You took 350 dollars from me claiming to have fixed my car, a few weeks later problem shows up again, denied it initially and later accepted responsibility, waited for more than two weeks to get it fixed, spent 600 dollars on rental and still had to come pick up the car in a faulty state. Tell me why you do not deserve this rating? You have lost me as a customer for sure and I hope others follow suit.

I came in for a service appointment to re-install the OEM spoiler of my Hyundai Elantra, which was coming off after it had been re-installed in 2019. I was made to understand - or at least was never told otherwise - that this would be covered under the 3-year parts warranty that Hyundai offers. I had bought the spoiler from the dealership, brand new with the car, for this very reason: to ensure that if anything happened to it, I'd be covered under the 3-year parts and labour warranty. When I came back to pick up my car I noticed on my invoice that I was being charged both labour and parts to re-install the spoiler (over $200). I explained to the technician that this was a mistake since the spoiler was covered under warranty and after some back and forth he referred me to the parts manager. According to the parts manager, and the technician, the spoiler was an "after-market part" and therefore not covered under warranty. I explained to them that I had bought it from a Hyundai dealership (Pathway Hyundai, also in Ottawa), brand new with the car, and that it was sold to me as an OEM piece. They insisted that this was an after market piece and that I had to pay for the service, then go back to Pathway Hyundai and deal with them since they had lied to me and sold me an after-market piece as opposed to an OEM piece. I refused. After all, as a customer, I bought the car (with the spoiler included) from Hyundai, not from dealership A or B. I shouldn't be fighting dealership A or B when the mistake arises from Hyundai itself. After explaining this to the technician, he finally decided to call Pathway Hyundai and check his system. It turns out he was wrong and the piece was indeed OEM, which in principle, would be covered under the 3-year warranty. At that point, after almost an hour of wasting my time, he decided to inform me that the reason for not being covered under warranty was now that my car had 70,000kms. The warranty, he said, covered items during 3 years or 60,000 kms, whatever came first. At that point I was too annoyed and tired to try to argue with him. To be completely honest, he had lost all credibility. I ended up paying the money and later checking Hyundai's warranty policy for parts. Although he's correct, it is either 60,000 kms or 3 years, it is very clear to me that they were not willing to cover this under warranty from the very beginning. They were looking for an excuse to get paid. First it was the fact that it wasn't an OEM piece (which it was) and then it was that my car had too many kms. I'm honestly never going back to this place, although I had religiously taken my car for servicing here. I simply can't trust them anymore.

So I left this same review on fb but felt like it would be relevant here as well I got my oil change and tires switched today and I just want to say that ever since I bought my used Sonata in 2014, the entire service team has been NOTHING but AMAZING. My main service advisor used to be Corey and then once he left it was Jayce. Throw back to June 2017: Have you ever gotten stuck on a camp ground 320km away??? Well I have!!!!!!! and after a call to CAA and to Jayce, freaking out mind you, my car was towed all the way back to Ottawa and within 15 min I had a loaner vehicle ready to go and everything was going to be taken care of. Between Alejandro (who is now the parts manager and Jayce who is now the service manager), I can always be sure that I’ll be taken care of. You guys are awesome and always do the best you can despite the circumstances (like super busy winter and summer tire seasons) which I think some people tend to forget. Did not have a good experience with the the sales department. Was met by a personable sales person Roman (not sure of spelling ) he gave me a vehicle to test drive. Also met Craig one of the sales mangers. I had advised them that I had another appointment that I had to get to but would be back later. Returned and was met by Craig, since Roman had to leave I was introduced to a young lady who would be assisting me. Did test drive and sat with her to make a deal. She quoted me on leasing and purchasing. The monthly payments on a 60 month financing were out of our budget the lease was even worse. in steps Craig, I gave him a number I would be happy with. He advised me would see what he could do, 15 minutes later he returned and said that if we were going to purchase he would see if he could do the price. At that I told him I don't like games and my wife and I got up to leave, Craig immediately advised that he would do the price. I advised him that his tactics had turned me against buying a vehicle here and left. Craig called me the next day ting to get me to return I refused. Not going back to this dealership ever.

Very unprofessional, and disrespectful staff! They sold me a broken car when I went back no one was helpful. I had to fight for something I was paying( warranties). UPDATE*** This dealership has been nothing but troubles. Alain was the nicest out of everyone and got me to come in for a quote and right away that they told me that it looked painted with NO PROOF , and still after a 30,000 $ car this is what I get. I work at a garage myself and i will be telling everyone to stay away. Came here for warranty on my 2018 Sonata hood which got paint Bubbling already on this 30,000$ car.... the first guy I talked too said “we will get this taken care of forsure paint shouldn’t be like that” then I went back a few days later to see the manager and right away he said “it was a rock chip and that it wouldn’t be covered” with barley looking at it!!! I told him if he wants to see a rock chip I have one in my door and that was not a rock chip! He went inside leaving the other desk man to talk to me cause he didn’t want to deal with it.... bad management there. On top of that they said they would put it a claim to Hyundai Canada which has now been a month and a half and still haven’t heard anything. Really disappointed for something could have been fixed for a couple hundred dollars that they made about 30 grand on a car.... not impressed at all . Will be telling people about this

Seriously not good. I had an appointment to get my brakes rechecked for loud squealing noises this morning; this following work done last week, and was told I would have to wait 3-4 hours to have the technician that did the original work assigned to my vehicle. I also mentioned that the brakes had a clunking issue since they were replaced last fall and all parts had been sourced through Surgenor Hyundai. This condition had been reported every service appointment since. Last week they charged me an additional $199 plus taxes to repair this ongoing problem. I mentioned this was a repeat issue and should be taken into consideration. This complaint seemed to fall on deaf ears. This type of service behaviour is quite unusual for Surgenor Hyundai since I have always had the very best service from them for the last five years. Hopefully someone reads these ccomments and will get back to me for resolution.

I bought a used car from Rene Fitzgerald. I had been shopping for a long time so I knew basically what car I wanted and at what price I thought was fair. He was accommodating on that front. He always responded to my emails and calls 'same day', and did all the things he said he would (which wasn't my experience at some dealerships I visited). It was not a high margin car but he was still very helpful with respect to shuttle rides to/from their location, getting minor repairs taken care of, and getting the administrative stuff done/saving me time. I don't really have any complaints. Dealing with Rene was very low pressure and I would do so again in the future. Thanks.

If you feel like getting robbed of your money this is the place to do it! Roman and his sales manger Mike took advantage of two women (one being deaf, one being a new car buyer) and totally milked their way to the bank, with smiles on their faces! Being a first time car buyer I wasn't sure of all the benefits and price reductions I could have recieved until after I talked to family and friends, but Mike and Roman made sure I got none of them! They made sure to promise so many things but changed all of those promises when it was time to sign the contract. When asked to talk to the sales manager Mike about those changes he was no where to be found in the building! They made sure that you had all your insurance and everything switched over before making those changes too, so you were really stuck in a bad situation. Thanks guys! True gentlemen! You really know how to teach a girl a hard lesson. I would highly suggest not buying at this Hyundai. Go to any other Hyundai dealer but this place and I will make sure to tell all about it! My servicing will be done anywhere other than this money hungry pit stop. My advice to any car buyer, look for any other Hyundai dealer. And if you're adamant on this place then steer clear of Mike and Roman.

I wouldn’t recommend. I bought my car there in January it took them a month for me to receive it. The car was dirty inside and not detailed. There was personal items from the previous owner in the car. I never received the second key like they said they were going order a new one. Once I received the car there was a paint scratch on the rear bumper which took them another month to fix. When I came to pick up there was another big paint scratch again on the car. That took them another 2weeks to fix. They said they were going to clean the car inside out but it was a lie. The sales guys are great but do yourself a favour go buy somewhere else.

Worst Hyundai dealer in Ottawa. They'll tell you winter tires will be free per their website offer, yet they charge you on the bill of sale. Shady. On several occasions I have gone for service at 8:00 on a Saturday and none of the staff is there! The last time none of the service staff were there on time, nor was the shuttle driver. They will book you in and call you after having your car for 5 hours and say they couldn't work on your car because they couldn't locate the tires, which they store on site! This is the most poorly run place. So glad I got rid of it and bought a Nissan! I'd drive across town to Myers on Robertson Rd before I'd go back to these disorganized fools. Oh, forgot to mention how the sales person will call and email you repeatedly to complete the survey about the service you received. This is because of the cash bonus they get. Avoid this place!

Mind Control

I brought my car to the dealer for service and the car had no issues. I wanted to check the front and back ends and when i left the dealer and turned of the car i heard clicking noise so i called the dealer and agreed to bring the car in few days but when i arrived they insisted to charge me for checking that noise which did not exist before my car entered the dealer. When i asked to speak to the manager, he had a very poor sense of customer service by the tone of his sound and insisted in charging me so i had to agree. When it took them 1 and 1/2 hour to get the car in and another 1 and 1/2 hour to check they told me that the noise is normal and when i said there was no sound before i bring it for service he said oh for hyuandia cars after 5 years this clicking electrical sound is normal and we have to charge u so i diagreed saying why u did not say it is normal since u know the normal from the begining and i dont have to pay the charge ( obviously i dont agree with the normal since i had the car and it was fine before i bring it in for service) So he was so rude that he mentioned that if i dont pay i will not get my car back loool. I had to ask to speak to the manager again and finally the manager agreed that i dont have to pay. I would never go back there again!!!!

For the second year, my winter tire change took over 3 hours (tires on rims!). On both occasions, I booked an appointment for 7.30am (having been offered 7.30, 8.00, 8.30, etc.). This year I got the car back at 11.15. I had to Uber my wife to a 10am appointment ($15) and cancel my own 11am. Who would have thought that this would have been necessary? I could have changed the tires myself in 30 minutes. It's a pity. I bought the vehicle there and the showroom service was excellent.

I've bought many cars over the last 40 yrs and from many dealers across Quebec and Ontario. But the Surgenor Hyundai team in Ottawa made the cut above the rest and let me tell you why. The Genesis I was searching for months, was at Surgenor and I was in Toronto 400 km away. What happened next I did not expect when I gave Surgenor a call. Tarek was my first line of contact. A gentleman patient and meticulous, Tarek reached out to me to setup the deal. Within 12 hours we had gone over the numbers, revised the draft three times and we had an agreement. I booked my flight for Saturday morning. Tarek forwarded my flight detail to Marc Stenson. Marc was waiting for me at the airport when I arrived. What can i say to convey that I felt as if Marc may as well have been my next door neighbor as we drove down to the dealership. He led me in and there was my new car in the showroom with a big bow on the hood and a plaque with my name on it by the car stating "My biggest internet purchase ever!". What a welcome, pure class and all Marc. Marc proceeded to answer every question I had. We went over the car A-Z. Marc had the file and all the paperwork ready for signature. And then when it was all said and done, Marc drove the car right out of the showroom and handed me the keys with a handshake and a smile from the heart. I might as well have lived next door. That's how I felt when I drove away from Surgenor Hyundai in Ottawa back to Toronto in my new Genesis. Way to go Tarek and Marc. That's the way it's done. Five big stars Surgenor Hyundai team.

Feeling very shocked and upset, I walked in to Surgenor Hyundai in Ottawa, ON, with my son and his friend, as I’m currently a Hyundai owner and wanted to recommend them and had the intention to buy a car from them. The lady that was trying to get us the deal didn’t spend much time with us and every question we asked we had to wait at least 10 minutes as she kept going back and forth to the sales manager. We already knew what car and what deal we wanted but they made the process much more complicated and they were constantly making it more confusing for all of us and even the salesperson didn’t have any knowledge regarding our concerns. Basically we didn’t get to communicate properly and I believe she was new so its not her fault. As we were about to make up our mind the sales manager Mike Patterson walked up to us with a very rude and aggressive approach and didn’t greet us at all, all he had to say was that “ obviously we can’t do business with you guys”. We were not expecting to hear that from the manager and we ignored the comment and asked for more details on the ongoing deal specifically regarding the final price and he stated “ what good is that gonna do you guys?” After this comment we felt that he was not willing to help in any way and was very unprofessional and unwilling to cooperate. My friend then went on to ask him about what he is getting on the deal and Mike said “if you guys can get a better deal elsewhere then why are you here?”. He also degraded our purchase and my friends decision by saying” Why are you worried when you’re only buying the most basic car we have”. He seemed to not even want us there at all which made us feel like we weren’t welcome and they didn’t want to sell us anything. Everyone else there seemed to ignore the fact that we were being ignored and not taken seriously. Mike also directly told us to leave the dealership. After this experience I don’t even feel like being a Hyundai customer and I came to the conclusion that I want my current Hyundai car taken back, Mike made me feel embarrassed in front of my son and his friend, he disrespected us and didn’t show any empathy. I want this message to be made public as I feel that such a person shouldn’t be representing any dealer or company in such a manner, he is deliberately trying to get customers to leave without any valid reason. He simply didn’t want to answer any questions regarding the car.

**When writing this review I can only comment on my own personal experience. I will post again once I've dealt with the dealership. I don't think I would recommend Surgenor Hyundai . Short story.....you will go in for an oil change and come out with a $1000 bill. Out of the 10 times I've gone, I would say 7/10 times I have been told I need to spend more money....and I have an almost a brand new car (26K). They seem to look for what they can charge you rather then being honest. I cannot comment on sales because I bought my 2013 Sonata (4.5k on it, yeah that's right, barely used) across the street in 2016 (owner didn't use the car that much and wanted a Jeep). I have taken my car to Surgenor consistently since then. Initially I was happy but was very disappointed later on. When I bought brand new tires, they installed them and when driving home I felt an odd vibration. I wanted a second opinion so I stopped by Frisby Tire and they showed me how the tire was misaligned and not set properly. They reset the tire for me and asked who put these on. They didn't even charge me anything (I think from now on, I will stick with them). I complained to the hyundai manager who set things straight so I thought that was just an anomaly. Then 6 months later they said I needed to have my brakes cleaned. They said that it was due to me not driving the car alot. They were clearly referring to the low Kms that the previous driver put on it. So I went with what they recommended and cleaned the brakes. They then prompted the same action 6 months later and which point I said no since I already did it 6 months ago. How many times does one need to clean the brakes? Now 6 months later they said I need new front brakes $563, alignment $120, $120 for rear brake cleaning. I thought I was going in for a $200 oil and tire change, instead I just forked out $1k. Update! I took my car back to surgenor hyundai. Seems like yet another tie rod is broken (this time on the right side). Last season it was covered under warranty (still had to pay for the allignment myself) for the left side. My warranty has since expired so they want to charge $230 plus $95 for allignment. Once again, go in for a service of $200......time to fork up more. Guess it's a pattern.

On July 7,2020 we purchased a 2016 Honda CR-V. In the fall when we changed out the summer tires with rims to winter tires with rims we noted that the existing summer tires were not new. We were under the assumption that because of the limited wear left in the tires which already had 73,290 KMS ( car came from Toronto ) there would be new tires on the vehicle. When we picked up the vehicle the vehicle was shining as well as the tires. We signed a road hazard tire warranty which we thought were for the new tires. Under further review of the tire warranty it stipulates for used vehicles the tire warranty would be for 40,000 KMS however a clause is exclusions stipulates a void warranty if the remaining tread was less than 3/32” which means in our case the warranty was void when we picked up the vehicle.I then played telephone tag with the salesman, Roman Sidoli, who had to discuss the issue with the sales and leasing consultant, Chris Shannon. I then played telephone tag with Mr.Shannon. I eventually got frustrated and gave up. Just recently in March 2021, with 82,752 KMS on the vehicle it developed a squealing noise from the tires. The dealer checked the vehicle and advised that it was a rear seized caliber and back pads and rotors were required. Less than 10,000 KMS were on the vehicle and it required almost $1000 in back brake repairs!!!!!. When my daughter picked up the vehicle after the assessment for the squealing brakes she saw and spoke with our salesman, Mr. Sidoli, he advised that they always wanted happy customers and requested that I should contact him. So again I sent an email to him that night requesting a review of our problem. I did not hear from him for at least two weeks, or even got a response to my email, so I left a message with the receptionist for him to give me a call. He eventually phoned and advised that he would again have to discuss with Mr. Shannon. I have not heard a word, very frustrating!!!!!. I guess once this dealer makes a sale, it’s on to the next sale and they forget about the purchaser to try a resolve any issues with used vehicles. Very terrible after purchase customer service!!!!.

We had found the same vehicle at another Hyundai Dealership which were also going to add free winter tires with the deal. We found them to be pushy and somewhat disrespectful. We are not happy and were not happy from the beginning because when were only looking they said you don't have to be sure even if you sign now you can change your mind and everything will be fine, which was a complete lie because we had problems with them from that day onwards. I came to Surgenor Hyundai after visiting almost every car type in the city. I went to Ford, Chevy, Kia, Honda, Toyota etc. I can honestly say that the service here was the best of them all. I also visited multiple different dealers of the other brands, in total I probably went to about 10 different dealerships in the City. The experience from Adam, the sales rep was the best I came across. He was very knowledgeable, accommodating and kind. He was completely pressure-less and made the experience an exciting one. After visiting other dealerships, I was often finding my self hunting for a way to get out of there and away from the high pressure sales men who worry more about their numbers then the people they are selling the cars to. I did not have that experience at Surgenor. The experience with Chris was also quite nice as he did not pressure us into anything, as the other dealerships had tried. At other dealers I even experienced insults with relation to my income vs. being able to afford to add things. Chris was very kind and made us aware of the things we can add and why, but was completely understanding when we decided not to. I personally think that the experience at the dealership is what sells the car. These days, most cars are honestly the same. If you take care of them, they will last. It mostly comes down to if you like it or not, and what the experience is like when you go to see it. I don't believe in pressure sales, I believe in letting people see the car, telling them about it, and letting the decide if its what is right for them, and that is what this dealership does. All in all I WILL be back to Surgenor, and I plan to advise anyone I know looking for a vehicle that this is the place to do so.
