I had heard from a friend that Subaru of Hamilton is one of the best Subaru dealerships in Ontario and he was right based on the experience I had with my most recent purchase. Definitely worth the drive from Kitchener. Wow! Steve knows Subaru's! His knowledge and passion for Subaru products made the buying experience fun in addition to the confidence he instills in you that you are buying one of the safest vehicles on the road. I also have to mention that the entire Hamilton Subaru team was a pleasure to deal with and I felt very safe with the COVID protocols they had in place. Thanks everyone! BRING ON THE SNOW!!!

As always, I've had a most pleasant visit to the Upper James Subaru dealership to get my Outback safety-checked and to pay off the remaining amount owing now that the lease is near due. As I entered I got a very warm welcome from Kim and she led me to the service desk where Jess took over. She answered all my questions patiently and with a smile. I gave my keys to her, made myself a nice mochachino, then went to see the man himself, Alex, to pay off the car. His friendliness and professionalism is top notch and I see the same attitude and excellence stem throughout his entire team. I ask lots of questions and they are all answered honestly and transparently. I got a shuttle ride home and back from a good man, John. They checked every nook and cranny on my car and everything passed except for the windshield wiper on the driver's side. Lol. Paid the service charge and shared a good laugh and pleasantries then left a happy man. I know this is not your common type of review, but this is how I see things. Like I said, I always have a very positive encounter with Subaru from the moment I arrive to the moment I leave. So personally, I KNOW and am confident that I am in good hands (and in good company) with the team at Subaru and in the amazingly SAFE (and stylish) vehicles that Subaru has been putting out since day one. Hamilton Subaru is a great place to buy/service your car. I recently had some warranty work done and they went above and beyond. I was given a brand new Subaru Forester for a loaner vehicle while my car was in the shop and their service team was extremely courteous and friendly! I would strongly recommend them to anyone.
Very good experience overall. For sales I spoke with Ash Ahmed. I originally inquired about a 2018 WRX Sport-Tech with the RS interior in May of this year. I had been looking for a stock pre-owned model with under 50,000km for months. Ash was very quick to answer my many questions and go out of his way to find the answers to the questions he wasn’t 100% sure about. I sold GM vehicles for 3.5 years and was very pleased with the attention to detail and effort/care that Ash kept up throughout. It is not easy meeting every request and demand. By the time I was able to leave a deposit the 2018 had already sold. Ash was very quick to suggest a 2019 that had just came in…. It was IDENTICAL. I was very excited about it being one year newer and the body had only 18,500km. It had also JUST received a new Engine and had some of the upgrades for the year such as Apple Carplay & Android Auto. I was concerned that the payments would be much higher but between Ash and the Pre-Owned Sales Manager, TJ we were all able to come to an agreement. They were also VERY flexible and understanding with my financial situation. I had a home closing and didn’t want the credit application to overlap or cause any “red flags” they were accommodating and took some risks on their end trusting that I would keep my word. They were also fair with my trade value. I signed the papers and went through Kim in the financial department. She was prompt with her responses and had everything lined up the way that I had requested when I arrived. (I should also note that I live 3 hours from this dealership) they were again, VERY flexible helping me do most of the deal over the phone/email. I had requested/purchased a hand full of accessories and left them a 2 day notice for pickup. They were all installed properly and ready when I arrived to take delivery yesterday… (30 mins early) can’t complain! ????worth the drive. Ask for Ash & Kim. They’ll handle everything. ????
I purchased a 2021 Crosstrek Touring from Emily and I couldn't be happier with the buying experience. She was very personable and knowledgeable about the vehicle and options and when it came to doing paperwork, Laura was a huge help and made the process painless and easy. Everyone was very easy to approach and ask for help even if I wasn't dealing with them.
They did a great job until they tried push work that didn’t need done and rotor brake machining I thought was old practice but a new scam for the dealership ??????
(This is only my opinion) I am only giving this Subaru dealer a 1-star rating due to the fact I am not able to give it a zero rating. If I was able to give it less rating it would be well below a 0. As soon as I walked in and asked about a vehicle first thing the salesperson asked me was for my credit card, I believe his name was Rooy. The manager was more interested in just selling me the car and his price rather than trying to help me to do anything. Walked away from me as I was trying to ask him a question with a very nasty snarl in his voice. Tried to show him in another vehicle very similar mileage and trim package was a lot less have a different dealer but my wife like the colour that they had their. I was there to buy a Subaru, decided to go to another dealer elsewhere and paid for my car that day. They have lost any, and all service I would have done if I need to get service on my vehicle I will drive to Barrie,and get it done or if worst case even Orilla Subaru dealer. Hopefully someday something happens with the manager and sales person that has office finally sees what they are doing and losing people as customers because of their attitude. This is my opinion of a place that is supposed to be helping customers decide if they would like to change from one brand of a vehicle to another. It was a very close decision to possibly not even buy a Subaru because of them. Very very very very disappointed in Subaru for allowing people like this to represent them. This is why your opinion only. Hopefully somebody has had a better experience here.
I needed a brake light replaced. I called the Upper James dealership on my way home, Thursday Feb. 12. The staff were very accommodating in allowing me to bring my Crosstrek in that afternoon. Fast, friendly and efficient service is the way to go!
Bought my first Subaru. Connected with Ash from the sales team. He's a good guy. I'd recommend dealing with him. He's fair and reasonable. Did his best to hustle the process to get the keys in my hand quickly.

Beautiful experience. The service team and manager treated me with dignity. Mechanic was very helpful in the lot as well. The issue my car had, they told me not to drive it and gave me a loaner car while things were being investigated. Subaru of Hamilton was recommended by a few other Subaru owners who I know. So I went there after another dealer wasn't very accommodating. They even registered me for online bookings for appointments when I called in. Thanks. And it really makes me continue to value my Subaru. I'm also a technician. And many people have bought Subarus since I drove one and told them the 700 + mileage I get when driving to the states, even though it had all wheel drive, plus the beauty of driving with my winter tires when the road is messy. This ismy second Subaru since moving to Canada, a 2010 Impreza, which I traded after moving from Newfoundland to Ontario, for a 2013 Outback, due to needing more space for long distances. Somehow got a slow leak in left rear tire and by 10:30am, after filling it up on way to work, it was totally flat. My husband came to my work site and put the donut on and brought the tire to our Subaru dealer. My tire was fixed, no charge, before I even left work. They were able to change it on my way home from work. So relieved that it all worked out so well! Thanks Chad!
Some communication problems, which I think can be an issue when servicing at a large facility such as a dealership. What was noted by the reception clerk as my issues of concern did on a couple of the items get misrepresented to the mechanic. You may choose to get the person who takes the notes regarding your service issues to read them back to you. Still I prefer the personal service of a smaller shop where you get direct communication. I will say that Subaru did a great job of trying to clarify once it became clear that I wasn't happy about how things went. They arranged to have me speak directly with the tech which was very helpful
I was in there for my Forester's bi-annual rust warranty check. I was greeted and checked in immediately and only just had time to finish my coffee before I was out again. Everyone was friendly and courteous. My experience with the Hamilton service department has improved markedly since the last time I was there, April of 2019.

Hopeless service process. You keep calling for service extension for appointment and nobody answers. There is no response to voice messages as well. Seems like everybody wants to sell the car but providing good service experience is of no importance.

The service advisor gave me an incorrect price quote for the service being completed on my car. It was also very disappointing that I was not given an update when my service appointment went well past the time I was told it would take to complete.

I worked with Ash Ahmed to book a 2021 crosstrek. Unfortunately i had to wait longer than anticipated for delivery due to reasons beyond control of the dealership. I had to book a car elsewhere since I needed one sooner. Ash was very understanding and co-ordinated with no hassle to return my initial deposit. I will definitely go back here for my next car.

Subaru Hamilton is an absolute gem ???? I’m so happy that my husband and I decided to get into the Subaru family of vehicles. The moment we entered the show room we were greeted warmly. We dealt with Todd Kaye. His knowledge is extensive in every model (which we practically test drove every one of since we came in undecided on exactly what we were looking for). We learned a lot about the features of different models. Test drove a few. Then Todd put together some numbers for our review. My hubby and I went out for lunch and returned after with a decision we have not regretted a day since. We decided on the Legacy Limited GT. It’s fabulous! Thank you Todd. We will definitely be back for a second vehicle too!
I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience at Subaru of Hamilton. It's my second time there with 2 different Subaru's for two different recalls. Last year I accidentally showed up an hour late and they took me anyway and finished ahead of schedule. This year my other Impreza had a recall. They replaced four coils in record time. I thought I was being called for my courtesy ride but they were done. Despite the pandemic, there was nothing but smiles from the entire staff. Everything about my experience was first rate. I'm 60 yrs old and have dealt with many dealerships over the years, not all positive. Subaru just raised the bar, not once but twice. I highly recommend them.

I was having an issue with my lights on my cross Canada drive. I purchased a 2020 Outback in Vancouver. Visiting Hamilton, I called them and explained it was somewhat of an emergency and they were kind enough to make a time for me to come in even though they were fully booked. Manny and Brendan (sp?) were very professional and helpful. They provided the type of service that you would HOPE for but usually never get. If I lived in or near Hamilton I would make this my home Subaru location for sure. Thank you.

They did something for me that was so unexpected and appreciated beyond belief, that I left there speechless and totally greatful. Inquired about car twice via email. They started procedure to have it inspected first locally. I even asked on their chat if they could hold it because I and I did not want to miss out. I was just arranging the inspection and deposit, when I get an email saying they sold it to someone who came in the show room. For this they get one star from this ticked off would be customer. NOT cool at all. I REVISED TO 3 STARS FROM 1 because that's more than fair, considering. 1st come 1st served should not just apply to people walking in the door. I'm a 3 hour drive from there, I could not simply drop in and buy it. I understand you have to sell it when you can but I was clearly interested. This is not about blame. It's about unfair treatment.

I have been using Subaru since I got my ascent in Sept 2019. This was by far my worst experience. I had previously had a booked appt as my sound wasn’t working and then suddenly my battery died for the third time since purchasing my car. I had called to see if they might be able to assess more quickly given the repetitive nature and was met with “mansplaining” by their service manager who compared my experience to that of his wife without actually considering my story or experience. When I called back later after CAA had assessed my car and identified my battery needed replacement I spoke with a different rep who advised me to Bring my car but couldn’t guarantee the service would be complete. When I dropped off the car I got the service manager again who insisted on his position. In any case they kept my car and never changed my battery and the service manager denied that I had spoken to a female the previous day (insinuating I was lying). Ultimately I expect better customer service and communication and to be treated with respect. I will be avoiding the dealer at all costs.

We leased an Outback from Subaru Hamilton in 2019 and have had nothing but negative interactions with their staff since we took delivery. Promises were made regarding tire storage at the time of the original agreement which were not honoured, the response from the manager when we escalated it "Sales staff say all kinds of stuff, I used to be in sales but now I'm on the hook to pay for it and I'm not paying for it". Our car has a battery issue (common problem with a class action lawsuit pending) and we've had to have it towed twice for replacement, most recently this week. The staff were extremely rude to us (original person who answered the phone told my husband to stop talking when he tried to explain why he was calling. She forwarded him to a voicemail so he called back, her response "It's not my problem if they're on the phone". When he asked her why she was being so rude she started mocking him. The service staff's response to the battery problem: "It will die again but you should get 8000Km out of it." We have tried a few times to resolve issues with this dealer and they could not care less if you aren't satisfied with the service. They send an endless number of feedback texts/surveys but if you fill out the survey and say you're dissatisfied, you never hear anything back and you get an email form Subaru Canada saying that the dealer has confirmed that the issue is resolved. The problem with the car is not the fault of the dealer but the rude staff and lack of response to feedback certainly is.
It was my first time at Hamilton Subaru. I brought my car in for an oil change and the service was quick and staff was friendly. They arranged a space for me to work during the service (you need to book during COVID) I was taken to the car and shown some concerns and appreciated the time given. I would recommend and have booked in for future repairs.
I have always had a great experience with their service department. They fix what needs to be fixed and keep me advised on other repairs that I will need to look into. They are very helpful answering any questions I may have . A great group of people .

I am incredibly upset that a recent repair service was not done properly at all here. I decided to get a second peace of mind inspection with a mechanic after picking up the car and what we discovered was horrifying. The car was repaired in a way that guaranteed a future accident. The bell housing bolt was left loose and ready to fall out. The transmission drain bolt was hand loose and leaking oil already. Some parts of the car was still damaged and either not fully reported or fixed to insurance. In total, I was billed $13000 but it was bound to fail/crash and I have to come in again! I attached the pictures for everyone to see and be warned if you decide to do any repair service here.

Daniel made the process very easy to follow and ensured all my needs were met! Laura was great with walking me through the finances side of things and the process was a breeze. Terrible experience all around. From the poor customer service to the absolutely terrible recommendations for work that needed to be done. My car was fine when I came in, just went for a promotional inspection and new tires, they wanted $5000 to "fix" the new issues that seemed to manifest out of nowhere. I drove out and had issues right away that were not there when I drove in. Luckily I refused most of the work they suggested and got a second opinion because they completely misdiagnosed the issue. Ended up paying $600 to fix everything elsewhere. Don't assume just because you drive a Subaru that these guys will know what's going on. That was not my experience at all.

Terrible customer service. We bought our Forester from this location and have been attempting for a year to work through the process of a warranty reimbursement. After the paperwork was submitted I would hear nothing for months. When I finally reached out I was told they were waiting on Subaru Canada and would get back to me, nothing again for months. I called again, was told it needed to be inspected. Got it inspected, again told to wait for a response and nothing for another couple months. At this point I started trying to reach out to the service manager, who was always unavailable and never returned my voicemails. Eventually I went to Subaru Niagara who got the process done for me in 2 weeks

Very difficult to get a service appointment - had a wheel bearing issue and was given a best available appointment several weeks ahead. This was pre-COVID, so that wasn’t the issue. Ended up going elsewhere for service and have been much happier.

Fantastic experience buying a new car here. We worked with Emily B, and she was absolutely incredible. We never felt pressured into anything, she was always available to answer our (many) questions, and the whole team made the process so easy and even fun. I was really dreading the buying and "sales-y" process (which we did experience at other dealerships), but the entire process with Emily and the team (thank you Kim!) was just great. I could use words like affable, friendly, helpful, creative and "got the job done", but that would only be scratching the surface. A grade of A+ to Kim Hansen who negotiated some difficult waters that were facing us. She did what a couple of other dealerships were incapable of doing. I had a great experience with Subaru of Hamilton. Was able to buy a car, during lockdown, with relative ease. Fantastic staff. I have never had such a great experience buying a car. The car gets the same review. I bought a base 2020 WRX, and I love it. First Subaru I have owned. It will be hard to convince me to leave the brand.
Car Clock 5 min late! Car serviced on 2021/03/31. The receptionist said it would be fixed! Long ago had instructions on U tube . Many steps-but can no longer find them? The car can tell us ,how long it takes to drive to Owen Sound:-not what time it is! Hoping the Owen Sound dealer will help us !
Recently I bought a used car from Subaru of Hamilton. My experience with them is way beyond my expectations. The trunk Shield from my hatchback was missing. I did not expect them to replace that has it was a used car and has nothing to do with the safety but they did at no charge. When I received the car it had been gone over with a fine-tooth comb to make sure that everything was perfect. Ash who was the salesman was very good with me. I am old and disabled and he took the time to walk very slowly with me to see the car and adjust everything for me. He was so good with the paperwork didn't push for any sale but I answered every question that I had. I would highly recommend Subaru to anyone whether you want a new car or used car this is the place to go. Thank you to Ash and all of the Subaru team that took such good care of me.
Work was done in time stated. We had a “loaner” vehicle due to time it would take . Excellent service - friendly staff

Although my experience with the mechanic staff was great, the front store section was very disappointing. There were two employees walking around unmasked, so I decided to wait outside for my car to be fixed. When I returned 1.5 hrs later, one of the same staff members (woman working at the front) was unmasked again. These were not people behind plexi-glass (at least not when I saw them).
Dont even ask why I bought so many filters. Angelo Boccia of the part desk was kind enough to help me, or direct me to the right source and perform an honest transaction for me. He did also recommend STI upgrade = good for future sales offer and helping out his co worker but thats not my cup of tea. A+ for effort. Oh and the ladies on front desk were quick to help me too. I had a terrible experience here after an airbag recall. That being said... Long story short these things shouldn't happen but do happen. Hopefully lesson learned for the individual working on my car because otherwise had a great experience. Manny and Crystal did what any service dept should do in these situations and Ash in sales is the least pushy, very kind and easy going salesperson I've ever met.

I'm on my 4th Subaru and couldn't be happier. All my vehicles have been excellent! Driven across country several times and lived in both Ontario and Alberta. Rally Subaru in Edmonton and Subaru Hamilton on Upper James have provided exceptional service over the years and have never let me down!! As long as I'm driving, it will be a Subaru!! All I need now is one of those cute little goats.......

I brought my car in on a Friday for a punctured tire assuming I would need a new tire because my side wall was damaged. Turn's out I did, fair enough. I was then told that they would be keeping my car until TUESDAY because they were not able to get a tire till then. I was not offered any sort of loaner or rental car/directed to a rental company they have a partnership with (Subaru of Oakville does this). Whatever I can deal without a car for 1 day of the week. Come Tuesday, I get no call and no update about my car so I ended up calling Wednesday afternoon to get an update. Turns out the tire was delivered WEDNESDAY morning and by the afternoon had not been put on my car yet. On top of the tire not being in when I was told, they wouldn't even put a rush on it to get my car back to me. I was told "hopefully by end of day" and that was that. Now it's end of day and still no car. I went from being without a car to get to and from work for 1 day to 4 now. Horrible customer service and horrible communication about service time. I'll be taking my business to Oakville from now on.
Quick and easy to buy a used vehicle. Sales "Roy " good to deal with. Received a fair deal and they upheld everything they said they would do. Great buying experience
