Do not bring your vehicle here for service. I brought them my brand new truck and I waited 3.5 hrs for an OIL CHANGE. The service rep gave me a big long excuse about why it took so long. I saw a service tech drive a car into the pit in the floor while I was there. The shop is total chaos. I gave them a second chance with my winter wheel package and after waiting for over 2 hours I took the wheels and left, only to get home find out that the rims were the wrong type and were touching my brake calipers. Would not recommend.

First time buyer from John Bear in Hamilton, my other half bought her used car here a couple of years ago and they were nothing but great with her. I unfortunately bought a Vehicle from another dealership in Mississauga (only because I was looking for a particular Vehicle) and it was a NIGHTMARE! 2 yrs later after my horrible dealership experience I was looking for another Particular Vehicle, went and spoke to Glenn Rouse in the used car side (who sold my wife her car), told him what I wanted...month later or so, found EXACTLY what I wanted and the price was amazing! as well as a fair trade in for mine. I chose to give them a chance, and I was cautious, because of what I went through elsewhere, but the way JohnBear treated the wife, I had to give them a chance and GLAD I DID! they are courteous, care about your needs and don't try and sell you all the Bells and whistles, you give them your spending maximum and they do there absolute best to get it done...and most of all, have a problem with a vehicle? you bought, they will do their very best to try and take care of it asap! Thanks to the John Bear staff and Especially Glenn! for getting done what I asked you to get done, with no BS involved! I truly wish I could give this dealership a better review, however they just provided my family with the worst new car buying experience. At delivery we were not given the ownership, 2nd set of keys and owner's manual. When we asked for them, it was implied that in fact we were in possession of these items. Two visits later they found the items. We were told our new truck is going to have options which it does not (auto dimming rear view mirror, alarm with shock sensor). When I brought this up the sales person the response was "My bad". We received our brand new truck with scratches on the paint that we pointed out while receiving the truck. We were assured that the scratches will be taken care of. They put us off for three weeks and then they explained to me that the scratches were put on the vehicle within the three weeks since I received it. They made serious mistakes on the bill of sale which resulted in them calling me and telling me that I owe them $1000 after the delivery of the truck (manage to clear that up). They also didn't put the correct amount for the buyout of my traded in vehicle and they did not payout the loan on time, resulting in us having to make an extra payment on our previous vehicle. They did give us a cheque for the wrong amount and under the wrong name after a few days. I have had this truck for 3 weeks and have had to go back to this place 8 times because of their incompetence and lack of caring about their mistakes. We have tried to get in touch with management but have gotten no where. So much for supporting this local business.

John Bear Pontiac/ Buick Hamilton,ON gave me STELLAR service today!! It started with seamless service to replace the battery in my key fob. Then I asked at the reception desk if someone could help me sync my phone to the navigation screen. Immediately Tom Athanasou came out to my Encore and got it set up for me! I had a great experience buying a car at John Bear. Everyone I dealt with was extremely friendly and made the environment fun. In walking in I was acknowledged and felt confident that the sales team knew the cars they were selling. When I picked up my car they made sure I knew the features of my car and how to use them before I drove off of the lot. They made the purchase of my first car special and exciting (balloons and all). I did not feel pressured to buy anything and felt comfortable walking away to think about it! When I made my decision I had no questions about what dealership I would use, it was an easy choice.

Please read entire post. I booked a 9:30am service appointment for Monday Oct. 3rd at John Bear on Upper James. My wife and I arrived about 9:20am. We took their shuttle to Lime Ridge Mall to pass the time while they did an oil change and brake inspection as required by my warranty. I started to worry by 2pm if I was going to get home by 3:00pm to meet my daughter off the school bus. Upon contacting their service department at 2pm I was told it was not even in the shop yet. ??? We were shuttled home by 2:30ish and met the bus. I was phoned back at 4:23 that it was ready, finally, and they sent the shuttle to pick me up. By the time I arrived, the service department was closed so I paid and drove off. When I arrived home my wife asked me what happened to the passenger door. I was almost sick to my stomach when I saw the dent (immediately below a protective strip that was there). This was not there before. Perhaps this is the reason I was left until the service department was closed for my pick up knowing full well that once I drove off of their lot I wouldn't have a leg to stand on to make a claim. Insult to injury was the "wash", with an obviously dirty sponge or ?, that they inflicted on my Volt. I could barely see out of the windows or in the mirrors when the low sunlight hit them coming home. Do what you like but I will never take my car back here for any servicing whatsoever. Beware of this dealership's service. BUT WAIT!!! Upon talking to the Customer Account Manager this morning, his ownership of the issues, and I believe sincere desire to make things right has bouyed my spirits. My edit will be on going...1* to 2* Well what can I say now except John Bear's promise of customer satisfaction is the real deal. The dent has been magically repaired! I'm impressed I have to say. The car was returned to me today looking brand new! The level of professionalism given to me by Ryan Penny, my Customer Account Manager, was stellar. He went out of his way to assist me in a side matter as well for which I am very grateful! I will return to John Bear in the future in large part due to the fact that people like Ryan work there. Many dealerships may promise good customer service but I tell you, when issues happen, John Bear stands behind that promise. 2* to 4* Ryan...5*!!

Got my car serviced for a recall. After service there was more with my car wrong than before. The clock was changed so it no longer had the proper time and they forgot to attach the radio Antenna and left it in my drivers side cup holder instead of attaching it properly on top of my car. The repair also took over 2 days instead of the 5 hours I was promised.

I have had exceptional service from Tom Athanasiou (Part of the Sales team at JohnBear Chevrolet in Hamilton) for many many years. In total my family (myself, father, wife, siblings) have purchased 5 vehicles from Tom over the years because his service is incredible. He is humble, honest, clear, and helpful, and everyone I have referred to him has been as pleased as I have been. Most recently, we bought a 2021 Chevy Traverse off of Tom, and we LOVE the vehicle. Tom has been attentive and helpful, and he made sure we were happy every step of the way. I cannot say enough about how amazing Tom is, and I recommend anyone in the market for a new vehicle go speak to Tom Athanasiou right away - he will help you pick the right vehicle for your needs at a fair price.

Disappointed. I brought my GMC truck in for an oil change - no charge, included as part of its acquisition. I overheard the oil service fellow tell a customer that the car wash service was out of order today. I then asked the oil service fellow TWICE if my coolant level would be checked. TWICE he assured me that it would be and had been checked and was OK. I remarked to the same fellow that by the looks of the water drippings out front that the car wash must be working. He agreed that it was now working. Finally, my vehicle was ready. It DID get washed and was brought around front. I checked the coolant level and it was still low. The guy that did the oil change apologized to me. "My bad", he said and retrieved a jug of coolant and topped it up. I brought this to the oil service fellow's attention and he apologized saying that he was not yet used to the staff there. I reminded him that HE HIMSELF had assured me that the coolant level would be and was checked. I brought the car home and looked underneath. The oil filter was indeed changed. I noticed that oil on the dipstick was darker than I'm used to and I just hope that synthetic oil is naturally dark..... This experience only serves to strengthen my doubts about car service centres.

Completely incompetent mechanics. We have now taken our Chevy in on 4 separate occasions to be fixed. Every single time it has been returned to us with the check engine light ON. Caleb, from customer service, made excuses that there is “supposed” to be someone checking the cars before they’re given back to the owners, but that has been completely bypassed. Indicated because the shop is union, there isn’t any oversight. Steer clear of John Bear. After 4 trips in and over $1000, we are now forced to take the car into a mechanic who CAN fix it.

Will never go back for service. Staff is friendly enough. But unacceptable that I make an appointment and still have to leave my car for a full day for something as quick as a recall inspection or oil change. Other dealerships are able to serve you when they book you. Not sure why this one can't. Won't go back.

AVOID AT ALL COST... THIS PLACE HAD MY TRUCK FOR 2 DAYS... FOR A SIMPLE LEAKING ROOF. TRUCK WAS ABOUT 1 YEAR OLD AND STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THEY DIDN'T FIX IT, TOLD THEM IT NEEDS TO BE DONE. A friend of mine has driven German cars his whole life and I recommended that he check out Chevy's for his next car. He came here in hopes of testing a Corvette for his weekend car and was turn down due to his ethnicity. Instead of asking him what he wanted to know about the car, he was questioned on his age, profession, and whether he is serious due to him being Asian and they "generally" cannot afford these 80k cars. I will always vouch for the Chevy brand but never for a dealership like this.

My grandmother phoned me in tears after her experience at John Bear. She had an appointment to have her snow tires put on but when she arrived, she was told that her tires "cannot be put back on", after she spent $250 to have them stored all winter... No one bothered to check them before storing them? She then waited over 2 hours for a shuttle ride home while they spent 6 hours replacing ONE headlight. She described blatant disrespect and terrible customer service from all staff. She is figuring out how to get these things done by herself after my grandfather passed and this was an absolutely HORRIBLE experience for her, she will NOT be returning and this place has lost ALL business from our family and friends. I am just disgusted at how she was treated. I will be sharing this review on every possible platform.

I purchased a Suburban a few months ago and continue to go to John Bear for one reason -- Dave Elliott in the service department. He is professional, knowledgeable, honest, friendly, and extremely helpful. Whenever I have an issue he gets on it immediately and the problem goes away. I also like the fact that he used to be a mechanic --- I trust his opinion and I feel that he would never steer me wrong. In the past I've dealt with dealerships that didn't seem to care or actively undermined my faith in them by adding on unnecessary charges. I have so much faith in Dave and John Bear's service department I have started telling my friends to take their vehicles there.

No one ever seems to know what theyre doing here. Multiple times I've come in and they can't find the paperwork/keys. Most recent visit they quoted over $5000 in repairs, we questioned it and they immediately told us they had given us the wrong work order and it was $2000. The John bear rewards are also a big scam. They charge you a fee for the loyalty card without asking and you can't ever use the points, always an excuse. Avoid this place.

I have been dealing with Catherine in Service for years. She has been amazing. Last week I called her and explained one of windshield wipers wasn't working. She told me to come down right away. When I got there I expected to wait for sometime but Catherine pulled my car in immediately. Her technician instantly fixed my issue and I was off. Superb service! Got a coolant leak fixed on my Cruze (under warranty), a week later another coolant leak started and was told this time it would cost $500. Refused the work, my 6 months pregnant wife came to pick up the car it was buried under 6 inches of ice. Service techs handed her a brush and watched her struggle to scrape it from inside. not only are they awful at being a dealership, but they are absolutely disrespectful as well. Will never go back.

Came here with my boyfriend to look at the corvette as he was considering trading in his BMW 5 series for a new car and has been eyeing the corvette. We pulled up in his dad's old van as I was making a delivery for a wedding cake on my day off and we were instantly judged...the racist corvette specialist who came to help us after we spoke to the sales rep insinuated that we were low income Asians who could not afford an $80k car...despite my boyfriend telling him he is an accountant and I myself am a pharmacist (both of which are well paying jobs). He refused to let us test drive it because apparently we were just going for a "joy ride" and could not possibly afford such an "extravagant car". Worst experience I have ever had at a car dealership and will never come back.

Would love to give these guys a good rating but i had brought my vehicle in for service in regards to my vehicle having a vibration in the wheel and slight wobble in the front end. Well they had failed to find the problem with my axle and sent me on my way. After a few months i couldn't take it anymore so i had brought it to Will Chevrolet in Grimsby and the mechanic the was very helpful and diagnosed this issue with my front axle which is thankfully still under warranty. I am using my wife's account! If I could give zero stars I would. I am in the market for a new truck. My third truck in the last 5 years. I had gone to my previous dealership and priced out the new 2022 Trail Boss I was wanting. I just recently moved to Hamilton and figured I would give John Bear the opportunity to take my business. I met with Tom about a week and a half ago. (Tom BTW was great to deal with). We priced out the same truck and I told him I would go home, chat with the wife and get back to him. After giving Tom the break down of the discounts (the actual hard copy of the discounts given) that my home dealership offered me, they agreed to beat that price by $500. I said that was great and made another appointment with Tom, thinking I was signing off on my new truck. I was fully prepared to leave my current truck at John Bear, and had arranged a ride to get home. When I showed up for my appointment John Bear decided to revoke that $500 dollars and match the current offer I had. Not only did I waste 3 hours of my night planning around this appointment but I wasted the week prior communicating back and fourth with Tom to try and get a deal done. They Promised me one thing and did another. Not how you do business. 68 thousand dollar truck and they lost a client over 500 bucks. A+++ service from Martha! You know those stories you hear when someone dresses like a bum and walks in wanting a luxury vehicle and gets dismissed. I dressed like a bum walked in and was treated like I was wearing a suit every step of the way. Martha is very knowledgeable, friendly, and her customer service is fantastic. She was never pushy and asked all of the right life style questions. I was ready to pull the trigger on a model that really only met 80% of my requirements, she could had easily made the deal a quick close but instead stopped me from making a decision that I may have regretted later only to make sure I was going to be very happy with my new lease. Being a sales person myself that quality right there is rare, its what will keep me buying from Martha as it established trust. I even told her it might not happen until a year or two from now and that didn't matter she was willing to put the time in! I don't know if John Bear himself will ever read this but John these type of sales people like Martha are rare plain and simple. I'm thoroughly impressed by Martha, Bob (also was great) and Dave! yesterday I brought in my 'new to us' Chevy Volt for a diagnostic. Was not pleased to be told by Thomas in service that he recommended that we change transmission fluid at 80kms...it isn't recommended until 240,000kms in the manual. Was hoping for an honest experience, will not return in the future. In response to your response... That is not true. You define Ontario as "severe" to suck more money out of unsuspecting customers. Alaska is severe...not Ontario. Ontario is NOT defined as Severe in the manual. Thomas said NOTHING about severe weather to me. Even when I questioned him about it. It's dishonest and disgusting.

Salesmen lie to you, service does a sloppy job and just don't care. They didn't top up washer fluid on a $250 bill, i got stuck on the 407 in a blizzard with no way to clean the window. The response from the service agent was like 'oh well, the porters do that'. Ok, well they work here and they didn't, i almost got in an accident thanks to you on top of a double bill for plate recognition from 407 needing to get off and on again, plus buying my own fluid. Paid for a detailing, they didn't do under the car seats.

A couple of weeks ago after visiting several different dealerships for a new truck we went to John Bear GM and dealt with Glenn. We had an absolutely amazing experience with Glenn and the team. Glen was very informative, friendly, courteous, and, genuine. He wasn't selling to us for him /job/commission, he was selling for us, if that makes sense. Stay AWAY from this dealership, the service department are bunch of scamsters who are overcharging innocent customers. I brought my 2010 Cobalt in for regular service recently and also had the check engine light ON. I agreed to have it looked at for $150 and these guys gave me a quote of $3000 to fix everything, when I refused to get the repair done, they overcharged me for the diagnosis. He will ride you for all you are worth and make you feel guilty about not spending your money and give you attitude when you refuse the work. There is a target on your forehead if you are a WOMAN. If you are an individual who knows nothing about cars and you work hard for your money, do not go here! This establishment is not trustworthy. I was quoted over 1000, to change my front brake pads and rotors. Thomas tried to charge me for the servicing of the breaks +the labor of it @120 $ an hour. I was charged $80 just for an inspection when the John Bear in Niagara charges $60. I must have paid the extra $20 for the attitude. Lucky me.

I was in need of a vehicle, because I had dropped off my car for the insurance to fix but they turned around and told me I have to go and find a different car. Having owned 7 different cars in the last 5 years alone and hoping to find the right one this time. All my previous cars were bought either through private sale or one of those corner lot dealers. I came to John Bear to look at a specific car, I wasn't to keen on its colour and trim level but nevertheless my salesman James Bosher made me a deal I couldn't refuse. Removed a huge dent on the passenger door and suggest to throw in 4 floor mats. Leaving there having bought a car I needed, I still wasn't excited about it the days following. They had the car ready for me in 2 days, amazing, just in time for work. When I picked up the car, which just happens to be the day before my birthday, I was AMAZED. James Bosher went over and above and got me authentic floor mats for my car, I thought I was just receiving some rubber generic ones. They put on new brakes and tires and filled them with nitrogen, plus a full tank of gas. What a bonus. So I got home with my car and noticed 2 more dents on the driver side that I never noticed. Sent James a message to see if there was anything he could do to help me. This was after the sale had been completed. James is still taking good care of me. They will be removing the dents next week. I would highly recommend shopping here for a new or pre-owned vehicle, they have great service, excellent experience, covid safe. Go see James Bosher for a deal for your next vehicle.

THUGS ON WHEELS! I went in to look at a used car with low mileage. I told the salesperson I didn’t want to add extra protection or anything else. He made me wait in that office that substitutes for a makeshift trailer for over one hour and half. Then he walked me over to a lady in finance in the main dealership who then proceeded to up-sell me for by another $ 3,880. She was forceful and wouldn’t back down. She suggested that I would need new plates and that I should also finance that - finance a $100?! I told her I wasn’t interested in the extras nor the finances and that I now want to purchase the car outright, cash! She was clearly not happy. That evening I went home thinking about the ordeal. The next day I went to pick the car which they said they would clean up. It was filthy and the shocks that they apparently inspected, were shot! I waited another 2 hours before I could get the car. Three days later I got a disturbing call from the dealership the nature of which I blocked from my mind. Needless to say, I will never go back and I will go out of my way to deal with anyone else but these high pressure sales crooks.

All I have to say, TIM KENNEDY !! That's the sales person you want to get in contact with ! My budget was equal to pocket lint paired with two buttons. Tim walked me through all my options, dignified my questions and did not try to sell me features I did not want or need. The service department tried to sell services that were NOT required. They reported that the oil pan required replacing. It has never dripped any oil, and the cost was $526 plus tax. They also reported that the brakes had hot spots, and required servicing would be $120 plus tax. The vehicle is a 2013 Cruze with only 38K on it. As none of this services were necessary, this is in my opinion is unethical behaviour. As reported on CBC's Marketplace it is an industry wide problem. Therefore, I would suggest talking to a friend or relative that is knowledgeable about vehicles, prior to giving any approval to complete any "recommended" service item. A significant number of dealers seemed to be far more concerned with their own profitability than providing customers with honest and factual recommendations of what repairs are actually required. :(

I took my 2017 Canyon pickup truck for transmission issue a couple of weeks ago/ One staff test drove truck and said he felt the issue. Then the service manager test drove and said there is no issue. Why waste my time?? My truck transmission was fixed under a GM bulletin by another GM dealership and truck transmission is perfect.

Went for a transmission maintenance and ended up paying CAD 250 for nothing. No work was done on my truck. I was quoted CAD 7300, most of it work that I never requested. Got charged CAD 250 for inspection after refusing the outrageous quotation. Funny enough the report that was handed over to me didn't include any of Thomas's fantasies (the advisor I dealt with). Lucky me, because I did it at a different shop that charged CAD 0.00 ( yes, nothing) for diagnostic. They performed the inspection in 10 minutes, very professional, and offered it complimentary regardless of doing the repair with them or not. The repair ended up being CAD 1200.00 including the transmission maintenance. Worst of all is that I was never told I will pay that much for an inspection. I think they are hurting really bad but I am sure with such methods will only get worse. They will never see me again and likely lots of other people.

This review is directed to the parts and service department. Back on March 8th I brought my GM Terrain in for a recall on the catalytic emissions sensor among other things. To try and make a long story short... basically after the recall was fixed my service rep Caleb proceeded to tell me GM is going to cover 90% of the cost to replace exhaust parts such as catalytic converter..resonator.. pipe.. etc etc.. my cost at 10% would be $450 plus taxes because the 2 issues were related, he was very sure of himself and convinced me that he knew what he was talking about... parts were available that day, then weren’t available. I spoke to my service rep 2 days after my initial visit to make the appointment for this repair and ask a couple questions, I had to refresh his memory on what the situation was after only 2 day, red flag should of went up right there as I was told by several people not to take my vehicle to this dealership. Fast forward to today, I have to take a day off work I bring my car in for the repair at 8am by 8:30am I get a call from Caleb asking yet again to refresh his memory on what was going on with my car I remind him of our previous conversation the call ends...6 and a half hours later I get a phone call and low and behold he was wrong.. GM is not going to cover the cost because the 2 issues as it turns out are not related, and all I got was... ya sorry I was wrong but I can still sell you the parts .....Really???? I have never felt so screwed over.. no attempt at any compensation.. free oil change... or even let me know why my ABS light is on... something!!! some small gestures of respect for this rather big mistake to a long time customer of GM. Never Again will I shop GM

I will never or ever recommend this dealership they took care of my wife's Buick enclave and there was not 1 time where we went in for a simple oil change and ended up spending hundreds . Not including the over 11k billed to my aftermarket insurance. We have nothing but issues with what ever they touched or repaired the last straw was coil packs and 6 spark plugs replaced lasted exactly 1 yr they we got misfiring again . They are real salesmen we have changed to a smaller garage and so far so good . This dealership has lost all my confidence and we have spent a good 3k out of our own pocket for items that prob were not needed . I believe the struts we replaced at 70k was a RIP off. But we spent 1100.00 after calling gm they laughed and said it's not a recall issue ...and other people with enclaves have never replaced the struts. We have a service file 3in thick that this new garage has gone through and had no comment. Good bye never to return.

I took my vehicle here for 10 years. Had a major repair needed that they said was going to cost $1750.00. I did some calling around and found I could get it done at another reputable dealer for $1200.00. I told them this and they said they could do it for $1400.00. So they were going to overcharge me by at least 20 percent...$350.00.. so I took it elsewhere and I will never return there for any service. Very disappointed to think I have probably been overcharged for years. So I would question any major repair estimates and check elsewhere for comparison before agreeing to anything here...live and learn

My husband and I were shopping for a new SUV in January and went to the John Bear Hamilton Dealership. While the experience on that day was mediocre overall, I am compelled to write this review now due to the events that have occurred since. The dealership itself presents very well and has a wide selection of vehicles. That being said the Sales Representative who assisted us has made our experience so negative that we will never go back to this location. While at the dealership, we were underwhelmed by the lack of knowledge that the SR showed regarding any questions asked about the vehicles (everything from colour selection to vehicle features to availability). Each time she had to leave us and ask another person for assistance with answers and this made us concerned for the accuracy of the information we were provided. A few days later the SR started to call me. During the first call I politely explained to her that we had an unforeseen expense come up and that I would call her back when we were ready to proceed. She then told me that she was "certain that our insurance company would cover the cost and that we should proceed with the vehicle purchase right away to not miss the promotion". I found her approach very off putting and pushy. Over the last 6 months this employee has called/texted me between 2-4 times a month at minimum (most recently today), after I have clearly told her that I would follow up with her. It was so excessive at one point that I blocked her personal phone number and then she started to call me from the dealership. To me this is absolutely inappropriate and has made me never want to go to that dealership again. As a manager of a commissioned sales team myself, I understand the pressures of making a sale however this SR's excessive calling and refusal to respect a customer's wishes should not be considered acceptable. It is unfortunate but this one person has made our experience so bad that we will never return again to John Bear Hamilton.

my rating is based on service, not sales. purchased a used GM vehicle from out of town dealer. it had a need for a repair. I only had the vehicle 2 days. the out of town dealer said take to JB and it will be looked after. made online appointment with all required details and information about the out of town dealer. when I arrived for my reserved appointment, the service receptionist said she had no notification, so I said well lets call the other dealer. she said she had no time and get out and move your vehicle, because your blocking other customers. she said they would only look at it if I gave them a credit card. I again offered to do her job for her and I would call the dealer myself, but she didn't want to here it. I can't believe with the vast knowledge about sales and service these days, that John Bear would have a person like this doing this job. JB, if you read this pls do yourself and every customer a favour and give this lady something else to do. after I reported to the out of town dealer, they told me to take the vehicle to Queenston chev, where it was taken in, fixed and washed, no questions asked. Queenston will now get all my business, and as many people as I can direct there. maybe Jb will make adjustments, its very easy to respond to positive reviews, right JB..

Everyone was friendly and helpful. Catherine kept in contact with us about work done on my car as well as taking care of all details for a rental car while my car was being serviced. She even arranged to have my umbrella taken out of my car and given to the shuttle driver so I could have it without having to come back to the dealership after I was at the rental company. With the construction on Upper James, this was a great help so I did not have to navigate the traffic. When I was returning the rental car a man with a John Bear jacket was leaving Enterprise. I needed a ride back to John Bear and was advised that Enterprise would take me back but thought that since he may be going back I could jump a ride with him - avoiding 2 cars fighting the traffic/construction going to the same place. I assumed he was there on company business. Turns out he was also getting a rental car while his personal vehicle was being repaired. I found this out during our drive back to John Bear. I felt very guilty for imposing myself on him as I simply assumed he was there on company business. At no time did he ever make me feel like I was impossing.He was very kind and accomodating. He made a good impression on me and the quality of staff at John Bear. I forget his name but he tell me that he started at John Bear in detailing and recently switched over to sales. As you already know, an impression can be made on or off of the dealership property. This man is a perfect example. The other 2 women I met when arranging for a shuttle to work and then picking up my car as well as the 2 shuttle drivers were also very nice.

Carmen our sales person was amazing. My boyfriend had come with me to help me look for a new car but every dealership we went to the sales person always spoke to him instead of me even after he told them he was not looking for a car I was. As soon as we were on this lot looking at a car I was the one that was approached by Carmen and he spoke to me the entire time about the car and test driving it and the other ones that were also available. It was a very relaxed environment and I didn't feel pressured at all to buy anything. When I came back to pick up the car he even took the extra time to show me where all the settings were in the car and how to hook my phone up to the Bluetooth. I had a very bad experience, after making an appointment for morning was told I need to leave my car. No first mistake I don't live in Hamilton, so Catherine pushed it up on list only to be phoned after 2 hrs that they could not figure out the problem. I waited another half hr before returning which my car was still not ready. Waiting another hr to be told this technician had to call someone else cause he could not figure it out. He then decided that it was between 2 sensors but could still not figure out which one so I should do both. Now I was quoted 145.00 to find the problem and then being told after all this time I had to pay for 3 hrs and 2 parts and I needed to wait another hr. Needless to say mad they brought my car out without doing anything

We were planning to buy a Dodge Caravan. We went to Johnbear at 1200 Upper James. We met Mr. Rob Windsor. He was amiable and tried to help in every possible way. We had a test drive with a Caravan and found there was a problem with the brake. As soon as we informed him, he consulted with his manager Mr. Tim Kennedy (who is also very friendly) and promised to change at least two brake pads! We received the van yesterday and found that they have changed all the four brake pads and put in two new rotors. They took our safety very seriously! We were delighted! Scheduled an appt for 7:30 am thinking this is when the car would go in for service work and was also told "the earlier the better if you can make it". I get here at 7:20 and was told that mechanics don't actually arrive until 8am (The gentlemen on the phone fails to tell me this). At 8:15 I ask Catherine Ribeiro (service manager) when my car is going in (as my car was still parked in the same spot outside). She replays very shortly. I was told the car would be completed by 9am. An hour and a bit passes and my car finally goes in at 8:47 am. I was scheduled to have two repairs done but because the one took so long I decided not to get the second done as I had to get back to work myself. What was supposed to be only a 45 minute job turns into close to three hours.. Waste of time and the service account managers don't have a sense of time management. Don't tell your customers to come in at 7:30 when nothing starts until 8 at the earliest but in my case close to 9:00. If my second repair was completed I would've been there for another hour. They then tell me it was a new guy that gave me the wrong information on when the service starts...easiest excuse in the book...Brutal service

20 Years ago I vowed not to return. I should have kept my vow. This is a 2 part review. Firstly, I have never seen such blatant disregard for customers safety ever. In the hour I stood waiting for my vehicle the 2 ladies at the service appointment desk refused to wear their masks. Instead they hung them under their chin, we saw them both talk to at least 6 other employees unmasked and right in their face, no 2 meters. One older gentleman was having issues and again she was right up in his face. We did see them put them on when a few customers came in but for the most part is was disturbing. Our vehicle was brought in and was there 2 1/2 weeks and didn’t get foxed. For that matter there was more wrong with it than we dropped it off. We took it to another place and it was completely repaired in 4 hours. Bear was replacing modules and such when it was in fact a simple broken wire. Their technicians need better electrical training.

My husband and I are from Georgia , our 2015 Impala engine light came on and of course we panicked being here in Canada. We went to the dealer on Upper James and was truly impressed at the fast service and the incredibly knowledgeable wonderful woman at the desk. She gave us directions to places to eat nearby while the car was being serviced asking if we needed a shuttle, also offered us coffee or tea . My husband asked questions which she quickly responded with kindness and actual concern .And then to top off this experience, she had the car washed and vacuumed before handing the keys to my husband. I Just had my 2017 GMC in for service. When I went to pick my truck up I did a quick check and noticed a crack in the front grill. I asked the service adviser Catherine Ribeiro to come take a look. Before I was able to finish telling her about the Issue she was cracking jokes and saying you must have amazing eyesight to notice that and proceeded to tell me it was like that when it came in. I have never been talked to with such disrespect. I purchased two brand new trucks from this place in the last 4 years and will not be returning due to their disgusting attitude.

I see by other reviews that John Bear is a great place to purchase a vehicle but please be aware there service reviews are miserable and mine was no different. A simple oil change became a total failure. I found scratches on the top of my fender, I returned to the service department and they denied that they were responsible but if I wanted to leave it with them they would have the detail department look at it. This option was inconvenient I decided to try to polish out myself. As I polishing the fender I was surprised to find a number of oil patches on my newly sealed driveway! Back to the dealership, again poor customer service they said there was no leak and it was just residual oil and they had wiped it off. If I hadn’t paid $90 and received any kind of apology I might let that slide. Being a business owner I want know if one of my clients is unhappy so I felt obligated to let the service manager know about my experience. I called left a message and sent photos to him on Monday, again Tuesday, and again Wednesday (oil still dripping) suggesting I should reach out to John Bear. Surprise I got a call back. To be told he was to busy to check his messages or emails??? He offered to have my driveway cleaned something I had already done. Needless to say I will not be returning even for warranty service.

I had brought my mothers vehicle in for service. I had waited to speak with someone in the service department. Everybody seemed quite busy, but Caleb noticed me standing there and immediately hung up his phone and asked if he could help me. I appreciate the little things like that. I didn't have an appointment but I wanted a second opinion on my mothers brakes. Caleb got my moms vehicle into the shop in LESS than an hour, provided me with the results of what was found, washes my car all within 1 hour and a half ! Here's why I'm writing my review. I knew what the brake measurements were prior to dropping my moms vehicle off to John Bear. I've been a licensed mechanic since 2007. I am moving away and I wanted to see how trustworthy and customer oriented John Bear was, so I created this "Test". Caleb. You explained to me my mothers brakes did NOT need replacement, nor did they need any service either. I told you to replace them IF NEEDED, you did not charge me a dollar as it was NOT needed work. For that, you have earned a client. You could have done what another GM dealer did, (I'll leave their name out of this), and just replaced them and brought in over $1000.00 revenue. But you chose integrity and honesty over money. I have spread your name and JohnBear around to a few people I know. God Bless.

My Cruze broke down around Stoney Creek yesterday and I had the closest mechanic look into it. I was informed that the water pump needs to be replaced. Luckily, I called in John Bear for quote on the price of water pump where after discussion with David Elliott (Service Advisor) I came to know that my car was covered under powertrain warranty for water pump. David made the process simple and easy to follow. I got the car towed to their place within an hour through Chevy Roadside assistance. My car was dropped at the dealership and David received it. I was not able to come along due to some work but it was nice to have a quick follow up from David when the car got there. Although, he informed that they were booked till Thursday and will work on my car on Friday (I was good with it), my car was fixed early next morning (today). The service was quick and excellent. David E. is definitely an asset to the company. He followed up with me on time when the car was fixed and I am very satisfied with the kind of service I had. I would highly recommend anyone who wants to deal with honest and reliable people to visit this place for their car service. Way to go David!!

Horrible service department. They are rude about everything and act as though you are an inconvenience to them. We purchased a new truck in July and when it was in for a regular oil change service we were told that if we didn't have our tires rotated that day our powertrain warranty would be void. I'm all for routine maintenance, but the truck is 5 months old. We spoke to another Chevrolet dealership and they said that this threat they made is false. Good riddance Johnbear.

This place does really good work on your vehicle. However, they don't own mistakes well. They just don't seem to care. Last time I was in they forgot to do one of the things I asked for. I only asked for 3 things to be done. Instead of doing it , they just said , well there's always next time to do it. They should have taken the car back in and completed the work. They are slow and disorganized. If you can tolerate this kind of environment, get your car fixed here.

I take my car there because it's under warranty but once the warranty is over I will not be returning for the mechanical service. Every time I take it in including for an oil change they say I need an alignment even though maybe 2 weeks earlier I already had one. And every time I take it in they tell me I need at least $1,000 worth of work done to the car that's not under the warranty. I'm going to quite a few dealerships and I found this one likes to gouge and nickel-and-dime people there one woman in the customer service Catherine I believe is her name really needs to become better trained at handling people her people skills suck

I recently had my Pontiac Vibe in for a couple of recalls, the service for the recall was great, I was treated wonderfully. Immediately upon picking up my car, some sensor lights in the dash were on, and stayed on that were not on prior to servicing the car at John Bear. I called today after ranting about how great the service was only to find out they will charge me $140.00 to diagnose when those lights were not on upon dropping off my car. Therefore I can not give them a full good rating, very disappointed. Forcing me to drive my car dangerously not knowing what is wrong, and i'm thankful the weather not icy and snowy right now, as one of the lights coming on is ABS.

Bought a Chevy Colorado there this summer sales guy Tom and sales manager were great found me something I’m my budget and I have no problem with the sales team however the service devision of this dealership is 0 stars it’s complete trash. My new truck was delivered missing a part and they finally got the part 3 months after I complained. Then I had to call for months trying to get and appointment but NO one would answer my calls finally they called and got a hold of me and we got an appointment booked. So I went in today and they’re employees look like the walking dead no one smiles or converses with you I felt extremely unwelcome I wish I could have gotten the part at Stricklands where they’re friendly and smile and joke with you. I highly recommend you go to different chev dealership the staff are so miserable at this one it gave my chills so glad I never have to return!

We bought a brand new Silverado from John Bear. Our salesperson was friendly enough. Turns out, the expensive SAL warranty we purchased was a SHAM! We were not told some electronics were NOT covered. The warranty is essentially a cash grab ... do NOT buy the warranty. I now feel the management had shoddy practice as well due to this. I will not be returning here. Horrible first experience they blamed another dealer for a previous repair when it ended up not being that at all. The other dealer from another city sent two drivers to pick up my car, repair it under warranty and drove it back to me in Hamilton - now that is service. Made an appointment to have parts put on my car for 9 a.m but now being told they can't get it in till 1 p.m because of Covid. Why make an appointment for a certain time if they can't get it in until 4 hours later and what does covid have to do with have totheyo appointment times? You make appointments for a reason and if you can't get it in for that time or within an hour of that time it's unacceptable. Very disappointed considering I had other appointments for the time thy said that they can't get it in till. Which is why I made the appointment for 9 a.m.

They also have no idea about what cars are in the market and what is coming in. Stay away from this place if you are looking for a new car. My initial experience dealing with this dealership was great. The sales lady was so efficient and had great communication with me. Then came getting winter tires... After calling two different times I have come to the conclusion that most people here don’t know what is going and their computers are NEVER working. The sales girl I spoke with the first time tried to up-sell me on rims for my winter tires by saying “the rubber often rips when they are being taken off the rim so I would have to buy all new tires anyways.” After talking to another tire shop, my dad and my boyfriend I am realizing this almost never happens. I guess I’ll be getting my SRX serviced else where.
