Went for an MVI for a Nissan and they were great. They took a loom walked me around the car to show me what was wrong, gave me a written list, and a video of the things they saw needed attention. Would go back again for sure!

I bought a used Subaru from someone, at that time the coolant was just replaced. 10 months later I found the coolant level is very low - I don't drive for commute. I was concerned so brought it here to check. I came in at 8:35, the stuff took my car and checked immediately. He couldn't see any problem though but helped filled it up. And also helped to add some power steering fluid and gave the rest of the half bottle to me for free. It took about 15 minutes to get everything done, and at the end, there is NO charge! Couldn't believe it!

Horrible service. They will do and say anything to avoid doing work that should be covered under warranty. This is my first Subaru, bought brand new, and while I love the car, I will NEVER take it to this dealer again. They have lost my loyalty and any good will.

If you are looking to get ripped off, car broken before you even leave, and upsold on a bunch of parts that your car doesn’t need, than this is the place for you! Awful service department and parts department. People at parts lack basic people skills, and are not interested to help you out. With service, I went in for an oil change. Buddy came out saying my oil now leaking from the drain plug which it was NOT before i went in. Now its my problem? Instead of manning up and fixing the problem that they caused, they focused all of their attention on selling me around $2000 of parts and labour of parts that do not need replacing. So $140 for a damn oil change later and the car leaks oil, and they refuse to do anything for us. Awesome job fellas. Stealership at its finest.

I bought my Subaru here. But after dealing with their service manager I'll never be back. One of their techs caught the corner of the hoist and damaged the front bumper of my car. Mistakes happen. They fixed it and all was well. The next time I went in the service manager told me I'd have to sign a waiver that if they damaged my car again they wouldnt have to pay for it. Hard no. Take your Subaru to Symmetrical Autoworks for service. Far better service and cheaper hourly rates.

I actually bought my car here. I love my car. However, this place has very very bad customer service. They do not make you feel like a valued customer whatsoever; more of an annoyance. Anyone I spoke to talked to me like I was brainless, and quite frankly, they were just rude. The administrative fees (for buying pre-owned) are also higher than anywhere I have ever heard of.

I bought a used Subaru outback from them when I get home I check the oil and it was low. My wife just bought a one-year-old Impreza and the oil was 1/3 too high and all the tire pressures were wrong. Was told to call back in a few days and they would do something for us. Call back and they said I could bring it in and get some of the oil taken out after I already did it and told him I was going to do it. Will never go there for service again unless it's warranty they don't know how to even do oil changes right

Got the work done with reasonable time, knew their stuff, but I agree with Nicholas Harvey, all departments act unwelcoming, not wanting your business, have to call multiple times to get in contact with certain employees. I've Spent thousands on thousands of dollars on repairs for other components of my vehicle broken (two times) and not reported until noticed by the customer. Love the brand, not Steele. Although many issues, John in service was very helpful no matter the complaint. Need to work on customer satisfaction, cleanliness, and organization. Always leaves protective floor & seats covers in car. Always scrambling to find work orders, keys, etc.. A Courtesy Exterior wash is the least you could do when they're paying thousands for repairs.

Had an appointment at 10 a.m have been waiting for more than a half hour for Cindy Moores. Spoke to Jeff Dwyer he apologized but had no excuse for her and he said no one else can help. This is totally unacceptable. Your customer service sucks and therefore your whole business suffers. I suggest a review and perhaps the hiring of a new financial services manager. By the way it's been over 40 minutes.

Brought my 05 Impreza in for recalls including airbag and control arm. No problems prior to visit however, after picking up my vehicle the steering was clearly not the same (pulling to either side and not returning to center) I brought my vehicle back and told them the problem. They were not willing to even consider that it was caused at their shop, essentially placing all blame on me and claiming it must have already been an issue, which it was definitely not. After some back and forth they state that my "power steering is leaking all over the place" certainly not the case before my appointment. The manager also seemed to already have an answer prepared (which was basically to say "you're out of luck") before even talking to me, barely seeming to even take in any of the things I was saying. If you check the other negative reviews you will see that they follow a similar pattern with damaged parts after a seemingly basic appointment. I brought my car in to get recalls done for peace of mind and was left with a vehicle that feels less safe to drive.

I really like sending my car here. They treat my wife with respect, which seems to be rare at car shops. The shop rate is a bit high, but it's okay. The progress videos are helpful, and I don't feel like they are taking advantage of me.
Service was great only downfall is they don't have a shuttle to take you home or pick you up

He wasn't pushy and let us test drive the vehicle on our own first then came with us to show us what a Subaru can really do! They have a wonderful product but they have no customer service skills
Started out with great service from JM, the man went out of his way to make sure I had the vehicle that was right for me, and did not push me into anything I did not need at the time, he even offered to pick me up so that I could pick up my new car and continue on my trip! Diana as well was fantastic making sure I understood everything I signed and that I left feeling confident with where I placed my business. Both of these people made buying a Subaru the best choice just off the customer service.
Test drove the 2020 Forester to see why a Consumer Reports favorite. Now I can see why. Thanks to Dana and salesman Bruce MacKinnon, very knowledgeable and professional. Fair price, easy, no hassle, no pressure purchase experience. Can highly recommend Steele Subaru.

Visited the showroom stood around for about 8 minutes, no one approached me although it was clear a number of staff were not engaged with other customers.Great product but quality of customer relations lacking, other dealers much more receptive to potential customers.
Had out car serviced here and had the head gasket replacement, oil change, timing belt, and rear wheel bearing replaced. They had it done in two days. Very happy with our experience so far.

Nice showroom but sales, the service and parts departments leave a lot to be desired. I found the staff to be very unfriendly and unwelcoming. They barely acknowledged my presence in any department. I waited at the parts department with numerous people walking by for over 10 minutes. The service guy did not even say good morning. What a joke of a dealer, what I've come to expect from Steele. I LOVE the Subaru brand and will probably always own one but thankfully, I'm leaving this godforsaken province and won't have to deal with service like this anymore.

When it comes to automotive maintenance and repairs I have little to none experience or confidence in my abilities beyond the basics. That's why I completely trust and depend on Steele Subaru. Since 2015, I have been bringing my Forester in for regular maintenance, and each time the service that I have received has been consistently fantastic! Never do they try to upsell or push products/services that I don't need. Their service fees are competitive and I trust their expert opinions and advice. The staff at Steele Subaru are always pleasant, and their response to the Covid-19 pandemic gives me comfort in knowing that they care. Two thumbs up... less the one required to take the picture. I had an amazing experience at Steele with the help of Diana and Neil. I had a tricky situation with my finance application since I've just relocated from the US. Diana spent literally all day working on the application with me amidst her many other customers and I was able to drive away at the end of with a 2019 Crosstrek. So grateful for this experience and I love my new (and first!) car! Thank you Diana and Neil!
We decided not to buy from them after we were passed around to 2 different sales representatives. Found the same car for much less at Central nova.
They've always been straight and fair with me. Warranty issues settled without hassle. New facilities are very comfortable and welcoming. Salespeople are pretty low key without pressure tactics.
Bruce was great to deal with, no pressure. My 17 Outback has been flawless so far. I just wish parts department could get parts in faster then they do, not for my new Subaru but older ones. Honda always had it next day.
Review in 2021: What was a handful of mediocre sales experiences and very poor service experiences in the past has become excellent all-round experiences more recently so I felt I should update this review. While I'm still driving my 2011 Outback, it's because it's still an excellent vehicle. Based on my most recent experiences and my 2011 Outback 3.6R, I'm giving the brand and the dealer five stars. Review in 2017: Friendly staff but the overall customer experience needs to be reworked as it is currently poor. Though friendly, the staff seem rushed and do not take the time to ensure the job is done right (or at all in two personal cases). Also, the departments are divided so you order parts from one group and schedule service from another. Any other service center will take care of ordering parts and schedule based on delivery. This fragmentation of departments can be very frustrating for the customer. 2.5 stars for the dealer, 4 stars for the brand.

I walked in off the street to check out a couple vehicles I've been researching. Was introduced to Doug in sales and he was a little surprised when I cut to the chase and told him about the vehicles I was looking for and that I'm a manual driver. He immediately "got" me and we didn't waste any time! After test driving a Crosstrek I returned and when we settled on the vehicle and pricing, Doug then introduced me to Diana in finance to start the ball rolling. She was equally as helpful and friendly as Doug. Terrific experience for someone like me who can find these procedures a bit intimidating.

I have bought two Crosstreks from Steele Subaru now and I'm a customer forever! Cheryl Greer is an amazing salesperson. She explains every function of the car so well and is clearly passionate about the product. I have had other car dealer experiences where they "talk down" to a female car buyer. I appreciated the difference in experience here at Steele immediately. I bought a Subaru mainly because I trusted Cheryl the first time...and bought the second one because I loved the car so much. My service experience is also always top notch. Friendly and professional. I have never had a single issue. I really enjoy the new video updates as the car is being repaired. Even the shuttle driver is awesome (pre-COVID). My ONLY disappointment was that I couldn't get a Crosstrek in red last year! LOVE it. That's my next one - and I will buy it from Cheryl at Steele Subaru! Highly recommend! Until then I'm enjoying the bright orange!

I can't make enough positive comments about the experience I keep having when I call in to schedule my husband's vehicle service while he's away for business. Stephanie is an absolute dream to deal with on the phone, if I have to leave a message she calls me back almost as soon as I hang up, she remembers details about the vehicle that I don't even remember myself (like the model, for instance) and she is always more than happy to accommodate whatever crazy scheduling issues I have on the go that week. As a busy mom of four, who needs her vehicle to be ready when she's told it will be, I would never trust anyone other than Stephanie to book my appointments, recommend my maintenance, or store my tires. And to boot, she's hilarious! She keeps me loyal to this dealer. Don't ever let her go!

I am a 6-time Subaru owner. When I moved to Nova Scotia recently, I thought it was time to update my last Subaru. That's when I found Steele Subaru in Halifax. I've had great dealings with Subaru dealerships on all of my past purchases and was looking forward to dealing with Steele Subaru. Steele Subaru has not only lived up to its predecessors' reputations, it has surpassed them, constantly going above and beyond, whether it's the sales department, financing or parts and service. You just can't go wrong with Steele Subaru. I feel like part of the family.
Friendly staff and good service. I have always been happy with the work Subaru has done on my vehicles. I have never felt like I was having work done that was not necessary. The staff have always been great to deal with.
As always, the service department was great. I had quite a bit done so it wasn't inexpensive, but it wasn't out of line and the cost was clearly detailed before the work was done. The process, from scheduling to finish was efficient, friendly, well explained and clear.

Was charged over $130 for a simple oil change, and they didn't even wash my vehicle which is supposed to be done with every oil change. I normally do it myself but figured I would avoid the cold and get them to do it this winter. Big mistake. Pro tip: do your own oil changes.

I'm outraged at the practices at this dealership. My elderly mother signed a 3 year lease on a crosstrek and she has taken it in for regular maintenance every 6 months. Her last 4 bills have been $348, $660, $594, and a whooping $979. There has never been anything wrong with the car; this is a regular maintenance bill that they have charged her. You can draw your own conclusions about the ethics of this dealership.

After my personal experience at the service department it is obvious that the owners do not care about customers.
Our wrx was in their shop for 6 months. After about 5 months, they still couldn't find the problem and wanted to charge us close to $6000 in repairs and labour. Due to this charge, we filed a claim. Somehow, within 3 days of making a claim, they FINALLY find the problem.. ???? (chewed wiring due to rodent). Upon getting our car back after the repairs were done, we were told it went in to get auto detailed as well. Our car came out with more interior/exterior scratches and dings then it did coming in. On top of that, now I'm told my blind side indicators are a $900 fix, which is weird..seeing as how they worked fine before entering Steele Subaru
On one Friday night at 4AM my vehicle was involved in a hit and run, sadly the car was written off. This is when my nightmare all started. Until I met Sean and Diana at Steele Subaru. The moment I walked in, we were greeted by Sean in a timely manner. I walked in expecting to buy a nice little beater until I was more comfortable in my new job, Sean was very genuine, honest and most importantly he listened to my needs, rather than upselling me. Eventually we picked out a nice new 2019 Subaru WRX over 4 year lease for the same price I was paying for my 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer. I was SHOCKED. This is where I met Diana! The financing manager, polite, well spoken, and again. Very human. Diana and I sat and spoke about pricing, warranty. Again Diana listened to my concerns, and made recommendations based upon that. I cannot express my feelings enough for these two individuals, they made me feel in control the whole time, allowed me make an informed choice with no pressure. It's seldom in this day in age you find one let alone TWO people who are that genuine. The term being human for me means that they're honest, kind, and genuinely have YOUR best interests in mind, and nothing else. If anyone ever needs a vehicle, I seriously urge you to go see Sean, then Diana once they have one picked out!! Thank you two so much for the help in this transition from nightmare, to making my dream car come to life.

We've been taking our cars here for many years and are always impressed with the top quality service provided by the entire team! The service department goes above and beyond and we wouldn't consider taking our cars anywhere else.
I expected the best service and proper care when buying the best car from there. But it haven’t been that good. They don’t warm up the wrx sti’s before test drives or even really inspect them especially if it’s a used. I experienced it, I still bought it... I had some body damage(plastic rivers missing) from a guy who had it before me from ripping off his mudflaps. I never found out tell I tried putting on my own. Their pretty friendly staff and service for the most part. Financial part was terrible, they don’t understand any rules to register a car to another province, I had a lot of trouble with it. Probably my worst experience with a financial adviser. She was nice, but didn’t have everything together or a clue. I didn’t either but isn’t that their job. She never really took the blame from my issues either after telling the situation. They never updates me on much besides my upcoming appointment. No part updates when your waiting for one. Been 3 months on a tire for me, I had to call them after a month and a half to find out what was going on. I hate doing that. There oil changes are pretty expensive. Their good on the warranty work tho ! Only reason why I’m going back for service is cause of my warranty. But after when it’s over I don’t think they we’ll see me again.

After years of prompting by my sister (a staunch Subaru owner for years) I started my research and decided to take her advice so I pulled the trigger on a new 2020 Forester Limited. I’ve been driving the full size, luxury SUV’s for years thinking bigger was better and safer. After test driving most of the mid-size SUV’s I booked an appointment with Bruce, took out the Forester and was very impressed however Bruce offered to take us out again to demonstrate the capabilities of this SUV. No second guessing, this was the vehicle for my daughter and our grandson. I’m all about safety, reliability, economy and this rig has it all-”SOLD”! The following day was our first major winter storm so I got my first taste of everything I had been told for years, the first time I actually enjoyed driving in a blizzard. The Subaru all-wheel drive is in a class of it's own, a much different experience you will definitely enjoy. Bruce's extensive knowledge and experience with Subaru is very impressive.By the end of the week I was so impressed I contacted Bruce & made arrangements for a new Ascent as well. Jeff, the sales manager appraised & gave me an excellent trade-in allowance on my full-size SUV, in fact the first time ever I was totally satisfied with no need to play games. I fully recommend Steele Subaru and many thanks to Bruce(the Subaru Guru),Jeff and all the other friendly staff for making it a very pleasurable, satisfying experience. Purchased new 2017 Outback. After the three year warranty expired I became aware of an internal bulletin which was issued prior to purchase date of a potential roof rail failure which could develop. I was not aware of it at time of purchase. Three years after the fact, the roof rail system failure did occur where the rubber seals have separated causing paint discoloration with potential water entrance in the headliner from the roof rail system failure. Was brought it to the dealer's attn and was denied full warranty coverage. Was offered parts only which was refused as felt labour should have been included. The installation cost was estimated at $450.00. Will not be returning as felt this should be covered 100 percent for parts and labour by Subaru Corporate.
Beyond a shadow of a doubt, the unfriendliest, most expensive, most incompetent and rudest service department of any brand I have had the misfortune of experiencing. I have had the good fortune of owning many different brands, the past 15 years my loyalty has been with Subaru and I have enjoyed seeing this great brand grow and will continue to purchase this brand, solid as a rock, reliable and capable, in fact I dare say, it is second to none in this class (Forester). What a terrible shame that the good name of this wonderful brand is soiled by Steele Subaru of Halifax NS. They took $250.00 from me in May of 2017 to diagnose a problem with my lift gate, said they will order the part and contact me, well, here I am December 7th and not a word from them. Based on Steele Subaru of Halifax diagnosis I took the car to the Subaru dealer in New Glasgow(Centralnova Subaru)they ordered the part, and within 72 hours contacted me to go in, they took the back door apart and found out that the diagnosis performed by Steele Subaru of Halifax was incorrect, regardless, they replaced the part they had ordered with my old part free of charge and proceeded to show me that even with the new part it did not work and hence they spent the next 3 hours finding the problem and fix it completely free of charge,(no charge for parts, labour and no taxes of course) ended up being a wire issue. Called Steele Subaru of Halifax to find out the all inclusive price of a complete brake job on my Forester, I was quoted $1,490.00 Got the whole work done at New Glasgow Subaru dealer with all original Subaru parts, labour and taxes included at $1,000.00 After 4 years of trusting you with my car's service (yes, even simple oil changes)I say; NEVER AGAIN. Steele Subaru of Halifax, you are an EMBARRASSMENT to a great brand and every single one of you, specially the owner, should be ashamed of yourselves, not just because of $250.00. But for betraying my trust and being incompetent, over priced, rude and unprofessional. Give me my hard earned money back for your misdiagnosis and the incompetence to contact me in 7 months.
Service was prompt, addressed all my issues, cost was reasonable, and on time. Very happy with COVID-19 measures. I am a 24 year Subaru owner, and counting.

Do the public a favour, shut your service department and turn it into a self wash car wash so that the public does not have to deal with your service department's incompetent and unprofessional staff. I am shocked how Subaru of Canada continues to support your popsicle stand.
Parts as required
The person who books the service appointment is extremely unprofessional. Not friendly, not helpful, and has an attitude that screams, "clients are a hassle". Tip to her - clients have names, you should try to use it at least once during a conversation.
We have had nothing but positive experiences with the sales and service teams at Steele Subaru. We love our Subaru and feel that we can contact the Steele team at any time for support.
Rhonda and her parts staff are truly amazing. Every time I need anything she is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I will continue to own a Subaru as long as Rhonda is the parts person I get to engage with. Thank you Subaru team for continuing to provide excellent service.

Bruce MacKinnon was a helpful, enthusiastic and knowledgeble saleperson. He took the time to go over everything with me from multiple models of cars and options that were best for us. I purchased a 2019 Subaru Impreza. He sat patiently with us and never applied any pressure to buy. He steered us in the right direction when we asked for his input. He explained all the safety and infotainment options of the vehicle. He was accessible 24/7 via cell and contacted me on days off if I had needed anything. He said the car would take 3 weeks to be delivered. He put a rush on it and it came in less than 2 weeks. He made sure I got a competitive trade in value for my previous vehicle. It was $1000 higher than the local Toyota dealership. When I left the dealership with the car I knew everything about the car and was completely comfortable. He even game me a surprise gift of floor mats and rubber trunk liner. I recommended Bruce to my family and friends. The car was everything I could have wanted. There was a small tear on the armrest from the factory. Bruce noticed it and had his service manager BJ Mattel repair it on the spot. It took less than 10 minutes. Cindy from Finance was very helpful with warranty, paint and rust protection options. She offer discounts and gave me the best rate possible. Overall I would give Halifax Subaru a 10 out of 10. Claim vehicles are reliable and safe, except for corridor on steering gear on Impreza with less than 110,000 kil. Bought extended warranty and rust proofing on this car.

Down to earth, candid, and low pressure yet prompt to get information for you. A very pleasant way to spend my money!
