Got my oil changed here, and within a week had a burning oil smell. I checked the oil, and the car was overfilled. I took the car back, and they gladly redid the oil change and filled it properly this time... However, the car is still making a burning oil smell, and they diagnose it as "multiple oil leaks". When asked if this could be caused by an oil overfill condition, I was told "It's possible, but the car would've needed to be *really* full. This isn't our fault"... Now I'm out $600+ to fix a bunch of oil leaks in a car that was trouble-free up until that oil change, in addition to cost of the original oil change. I'm very disappointed in their lack of customer support, and their complete disinterest in owning up to their errors.

Overall, I had a frustrating experience with the service department. The good part is that they actually did the warranty work I came for. The bad part is that they first refused to honor the warranty, then, after I contacted GM directly, they accepted to do the work, but it took them two months to actually finish it. During that time they took my car two times, kept it for two weeks without doing any work, and then returned the car to me because they were "waiting for parts". During that time, they gave me their own loaner cars that were old and too small for my family. Their communication about the pace of work was poor, and by the end of the whole ordeal, I stopped believing anything they said. Their behaviour is understandable (but not justifiable). The first factor to consider that car dealerships have monopoly power when it comes to warranty work. Since this was warranty work, their incentives to invest time and effort into determining whether GM will actually honour the warranty are low. This is why their default response is to refuse to do any warranties where they are not 100% certain that GM would approve them. In my case, the Barry Cullen mechanic did not want to check with GM if a certain transmission fluid that I used was approved by GM, so he just told me that GM rejected my claim. However, this was not true. When my mechanic spoke with GM directly, the fluid was approved. Therefore, if you have enough patience and resources to actually speak with GM directly and show the service records, GM will honour the warranty, but then Barry Cullen (and probably others) will be very slow because they know you won't go elsewhere once they start the work order. They also know that you are probably not coming back for maintenance work no matter how nice they are to you. Therefore, the incentives to treat you with respect are low. However, no matter what the monetary payoff that you expect from your interactions with someone, I believe that everyone deserves some basic minimum level of respect. The Barry Cullen staff failed to provide this threshold level of respect. One experience I will probably never forget is when, after they initially refused to do the warranty work, their service representative called me the next day at 8:30 am just as I was preparing to start to teach my class. The tone with which he asked me to return their loaner car sounded as if I stole it from them. If nothing else, that earned them a honorary place in my future lectures about the negative impacts of monopolies on service quality.

Let me just say, I have only been here personally for warranty recalls. I understand that this puts me at the bottom of the barrel, but really horrible service in the service Center today. I got another recall notice on an outstanding recall on my 2005 Pontiac. A complete fix was finally available and so I called to make an appointment. My appointment time was for 9 am and the recall letter indicated it might take 1.5 hrs. When I arrived I was told it would take 2 hr, and offered the shuttle, but I wanted to wait. I waited in the very nice waiting area, I waited in the showroom, after 2 hrs, I asked if it would be much longer. 5 minutes later I was told they couldn't fix my car because they didn't have the right part. I feel like they didn't even attempt to do my job until I asked, more than 2 hrs later while I was waiting. I am also quite sure that no one verified that they had the part before they booked me in. Likely they never even ordered it. Why do I think this? Because this happened the last time I went there for this same recall (temporary fix) in 2012. I can't imagine why GM is closing plants, who wants to experience more of this horrendous service. I will say that the staff member was very polite and kind (unlike the rude and obnoxious service at the other GM dealer in town).

They charged a friend of mine for repairs covered under recall. This was uncovered about a year later, when the repairs failed and my friend took the Cruze to a better dealer in Oshawa. They discovered that what they were charged more than 800 dollars for was supposed to be free. It took some wrangling, but they were able to get the money back (thanks to the help of the honest dealer).

I was very happy that I pick Barry cullen for what I thought was an emergency repair. In the morning when I called I spoke to trish was very kind and told me they could try and see me about 11:30, but on my way things had changed for me so I stopped by and let them know that that time wouldn't work so could I be seen around 3:30, no problem she said. When I came back Lysa was my service consultant,very professional and very cheerful. She took my information and showed me the waiting area. She kept me informed because I had a deadline to head out to an appointment, sure enough they had it fixed and ready to go in a good time frame. I was in the car business for over 10 years and been out for awhile now and will continue to do business with BC when I need service. BC has a history with me going back a few decades and had great trust in them then as I do now. Thank to everyone involved in my 2009 Pontiac Vibe (my baby) she may be old but she keeps me going. We’ve unfortunately had to deal with the service department on numerous occasions with our 1 year old vehicle. Every time I am more and more disappointed. From the main line receptionist who sounds utterly perturbed to direct my call to the service department (when I’m calling the service number listed on their website), to the service person who on multiple occasions “couldn’t find” the car in the system because it was under a hyphenated last name, to the service staff who can’t be bothered to say hello or treat the customer like they have half a clue about how their car is behaving. Even my 7 year old commented on how the person gave us our keys back and didn’t bother to say bye, thanks, have a good day, here are your keys. I could understand if this was a one off, but this happens every single time. It’s bad enough that we have to deal with a car that has had at least 4 warranty visits in the year since we’ve owned it, but the terrible service is icing on the cake.

James from this dealership screw us over for a car that we made a deal with private customer and he had to sell through them but instead of selling to us they bumped the price up and really screwed us over. These guys are not trust worthy at all. Never ever recommend. Please think twice before going to him.

If you take a moment to read my other reviews you'll see that I've had quite a horrendous experience trying to obtain my dream car, a 2017 Chevrolet either a Stingray or a Grand Sport. In my searches I found that the Barry Cullen Dealership had a 2017 Torch Red Manual 3LT Grand Sport Corvette in stock so I reached out via the form-fill on their webpage at 1am. First thing in the morning (Just before 8am), I receive a personal email from Al Hinds, my sales representative saying that he has received my request and that he will be calling me later to discuss. First off, I was pleased to see this was a personally typed email and not an auto-response. A few hours later, I receive a call regarding my inquiry, another huge win here. Al and myself spent 15 minutes on the phone discussing my past experience with Georgian Chevy and the Corvette that I had tried to buy from them. He told me that it would not be a repeat issue and that I would be well taken care of. Naturally, because of my past experience I didn't believe Al but within hours I stood corrected because we had already developed a proper business relationship; We were texting back and forth, we were emailing back and forth and even calling eachother back and forth. None of my emails, calls or texts went ignored. A few hours into the day and we had already texted, called and emailed easily 10-20 times each. This was a huge step in the right direction, I was very happy to see a salesman taking the time out of his day to put up with frequent communication. This was an extremely time sensitive purchase because I was heading to another dealership in the Barrie area, Al was on point through and through. We worked out the numbers over the phone for my trade as well as the Grand Sport. He worked out an acceptable amount for me, gave me a fair price for my trade and I decided to go in the same day after work to sign papers. Signing papers was a breeze, he took the time to explain and go through all the paper work, introduce me to the car, show me a few how-to items and even take me for a pleasant test drive. At no point and time did I feel rushed, pushed, forced to do anything. Aside from the prompt response times, the best part of this whole scenario was the turn around time for getting this car delivered to me. 24 hours. Within 24 hours of reaching out, I was in the car, the ownership was mine, the trade was complete and the information was transferred over. Extremely impressive. To the audience shopping around for anything Chevy related and more important towards the people shopping for a Corvette, I ask that you read my review regarding my past experience with Georgian Chevy and more importantly, I ask that you strongly consider Barry Cullen; Rest assured Al and the team will take care of you.

Took my 08 3500 in for recall on heated washer fluid. They removed it .My window washer recently quit working. I started tracing everything from the w/w tank to the wipers. The panel between the hood and windshield was missing 2 of the 4 screws that hold it in place. The plastic line for the washer fluid was bent and had kinked where they removed the heating unit. This post is mainly for the service department. Everytime I go here, except for the first time, Amanda has taken my service call and scheduled me an appointment. The second time I was here she set me up a rental and I accidentally left my wallet in the rental. I called in a panic and asked her to take it out and put it in the office so I could grab it and she said she would! When I went there after work she not only didn't take my wallet out she didn't tell anyone! I ended up running around trying to find the car to get it. The third time I was here she told me all the items on my car that were to be fixed were covered. So I drop my car off before work to find out almost everything to be fixed isn't covered? Amanda needs more training or find a new job. OH AND LEAST I FORGET! I hit a pot hole and got a flat. NOT ONLY COULD I NOT CHANGE MY TIRE because they NEVER gave me a lock nut to be able to take my tire off.. Then gave me a rental, saying it's COVERED , and half way through the day I get told it's not. Why have me leave the lot then change your mind.. This place seems unorganized and can't keep their stories straight when selling warranties. I DO NOT reccomened buying a car here and expecting them actually give you what they said they would. Considering trading my car in.

But here's the icing on the cake, when I dropped the vehicle off in the morning they provided me with a loaner 2019 Chevrolet Volt electric car. I drove an hour and a half to come buy a used car from here only to arrive and learn that it sold just before I arrived. They didn't call to update me even though they knew I was coming and had an appointment. It was a complete waste of my time and day. It was an absolutely horrendous display of customer service. The dealership will likely reply to this review saying I was at fault but they never asked for my number when I spoke with them, they only asked for my name, and I assumed they had caller ID. Every other dealership I've intereacted with over the last decade has asked me for my number or they used their caller ID. At the dealership they confirmed they do have caller ID but it often doesn't work, which is not my fault. They should have asked for my number when I called if they knew their caller ID didn't work. The only thing I was told was the salesperson's name and that I was the only one with an appointment to come see the car. At no other dealership have I experienced a salesperson *not* calling me to tell me the car sold prior to me arriving for an appointment to see a car. This was an appalling display of customer service and basic respect for the consumer.

Barry Cullens has the worst service manager I've ever seen and service advisor team. I bought my car from them and went there for years. Countless of times have I caught them doing bad work for servicing my car and treating my business like it doesn't matter. If I could give no stars I would. They added charges to my bill and did extra work without consulting me and giving them my approval on a work order. They told me a price when I called and then went to pay and it was significantly higher. When brought it up to the service advisor his response was "dont come back to me" and to top it off the service manager Mike has an attitude. I will never be returning to this dealership to buy a car or service my vehicle because I do not trust them one bit.

Beware buying used. Bought a used 2015 Malibu just over a year ago in November 2019 and put about 20k on the car. Soon after buying this car, one of the tires started leaking air.( The tire that had this issue was on the side that had an accident prior to purchase). Now despite paying for the tire protection plan and just happen to not be covered for this and having the issue persist and despite bringing the car in may of 2020 for a nail fix. The leak persisted. And now I am being told and just had to purchase all brand new tires because apparently they all have almost no tread on them. This is strange to me considering I put about 20k on the tires since I bought the car. This leads me to believe that I was sold the car and not told about the low tread on the tires hoping that I would replace them later. It also doesn’t make sense how the car passed the initial safety test with the low tread as well. Overall wasn’t taken very good care of and should have been told prior to purchasing the car.

I've reached my final straw with this place, I'm not one for leaving reviews but having screwed up 3 times in just over a year I'm done. It all started with a service stability track warning, I went in to have that done and they did an unapproved break job on my car, later when going to have my tires changed over I come to find they have lost my winter tires. Now an issue I have been complaining about for 2 years was finally fixed under a recall, and at the same time I had my tires changed over. Now whoever changed the tires over didn't seal it properly and I have an undriveable car since the tire is completely flat. I DO NOT recommend going here for service

The past 4 times there I’ve booked appointments, arrived on time and never has the car been taken in on time, and generally it’s been an hour or more before it’s looked at. No communication why or what the delay, unless you ask and despite apologizing, your email basically told there is nothing they or you can do about it. If you go there, plan on it taking 2-3x longer than they suggest.

When you call, make sure you wanna stay away from Todd. Mark Cullen, I am not sure how many cars did Todd sell on 20/Oct/2017. But when I called in, Todd was not in favor of giving proper reply to my queries because "he was busy selling cars for the later afternoon and would call the next day". But I am here-on-the-phone-today-talking-to-you-NOW-as a customer. If you were really that busy then why take the call? I was also wanting to buy a car (and not corn on the cob). Maybe you lost just this "one" customer. But for sure you lost the customer for life. Attitude, good manners and happy service makes a sale. Not just pushing for phone numbers to call the next day. Todd, you need to go back to school and learn basics of customer service.

This review is in regards to the Service Centre and there non-existent Customer Service. Steve Motyl (Service Advisor) and Mike Doucette (Service Manager) were in no way helpful in regards to looking after our recently purchased Cadillac. They were more interested in belittling their customers than in solving the issue at hand. This was a warranty claim and by no means should have been handled so poorly. I will never do business with them again, and will tell everyone I know to stay clear. I am so surprised, in this day and age, that someone in Service would say “You’re not happy because you’re not getting your way”. There isn’t an option for zero stars, but if there was, that is what it should be.

Brought my truck in for cylinder 1 misfire, they said replace plugs and wires, so we did. 5 months later had the same problem and all of a sudden they say we have to replace the engine. I spoke to some mechanic friends and they said my truck is notorious for this problem and 99% the problem is fixed with a new valve cover. So we will see if it was a cash grab or not, even if not, we could have avoided damaging the engine more if diagnosis was was done more thoroughly the first time

Recently while browsing for a new vehicle upgrade we found a 9th Gen Chevy Malibu of our choice, color, trim & most importantly our budget; listed at Barry Cullen dealership in Guelph. Made contact with the receptionist who right away asked to come meet their sales person Nathan the same evening. (Our first time car buying experience at a big name dealership). Nathan, an young chap was a pleasure to meet and discuss about our deal. He is very knowledgable in his line of work. No pressure at all. He made sure we got a fairly good appraisal too on our trade from his Boss!!! Test ride done, we loved the new Malibu. (We call it new because though it was previsouly used it was maintained with TLC therefore looks & performs as brand new). Now cut to the Finance Department - All formalities were completed in couple of days with jolly good help & guidance of Sherry, the Finance Manager. After the vehicle delivery, within the course of three weeks we had three times minor vehicle sofware related issues which their service department handled smoothly. Nathan went out of his way and ensured that we get a loaner vehicle each time & the software issues were fixed free of charge. He even shared his cell number and kept us informed!!! So though they are worthy of five star rating, we give them four as the above glitches could have been eailsy avoided had the sales & service departments made sure the vehicle software has been updated to the latest version prior to the delivery of the vehicle to us...the customer!!!

I'm not one to normally write reviews, but I had an awful and frustrating experience with the service department. I brought my car in for service back in February after getting an email from my car indicating that it needed to be brought in for service within the next 24 hours. The issue with my car was diagnosed (something to do with the AC) and I was told a part would need to be ordered and then I could bring it in again to be fixed once it arrived. Fair enough. After not hearing from the dealership for over a month, I called back in March to check on the status of the part and was told it was just across the border and should be in soon. Okay. No problem. By April, I still heard nothing. Called back again. There were closed because of COVID. Fair enough. Called back again in May once they re-opened and was told the part was there. Yet no one bothered to call me and tell me. Booked an appointment and brought it in for service to finally have it fixed. Four months now since initial diagnosis and was really starting to feel the effects of the issue with the AC. Was told I would be able to pick it up the same day and would not have to leave it overnight. I was at work so my husband called around 3 pm as they were closing at 5 pm and we had not heard anything from them. When he asked if the car was ready for pickup, they were rude and gave him nothing but attitude, asking why we would even bring in the car for service when they did not have the part, even though I had called and asked and confirmed they had the part, which is why we booked the service appointment in the first place. Then they said that apparently the part "cannot be found anywhere in North America," even though in March the part was on its way and just across the border. And then blamed the appointment booking on outsourcing, yet I spoke to someone in parts first who confirmed they had the part before I was even able to book the appointment. And if they could not fix the car, why not call us and tell us? Why did we have to call them? I have honestly never been so frustrated. Just a complete lack of communication on their part and nothing but attitude. Not once was there even a single apology on their end. We took the car to the Chevrolet dealership in Milton the next week and they were beyond amazing. Re-diagnosed the car for me, put dye in to determine the location of the leak, informed me a recall (which Barry Cullen did not) and ordered the part. The part will be in a week, which is magical considering that according to Barry Cullen it could not be found anywhere in North America. And they honoured my warranty, which expired during the course of this four month ordeal.

Terrible service. I came in to the dealership ready to buy a 2018 premier equinox to upgrade on my 2015 equinox. Came in 3 hours before closing as I had another business meeting first. No sales reps came out to greet me. I had to go looking for them. Found 3 reps talking at a reception desk. I had to interrupt their conversation to ask to be shown the car on the lot which seemed to annoy all of them. After asking a second time, one of them reluctantly said they'd show me the car. When I then asked to do a test drive, I was told they were closing soon so we couldn't go for a test drive even though they were open for another 3 hours. I was ready to spend $40000+ for a new car that day. Now I'm never stepping inside this terrible dealership ever again.

I was approached by Nathan, he was very polite and helpful with my inquiries about the new year of the silverados. Nathan got me exactly the truck I wanted spec'd out for my needs and wants. He didn't try to push the heavy price features onto me and there was no pressure. Nathan is for sure the salesman you want to work with on your next purchase. First time dealing with service was great. When I came back with about 6 grand worth of repairs that turned into insurance work, the nightmare began.... left my truck sitting outside, unlocked for 3 weeks. Didn't bother fixing things I asked them to fix (including the tool box lock which they lost the key for) and then the body shop was supposed to give me an estimate on cleaning up the corrosion around the bottom of the doors and rockers. Apparently they just asked "why?" and couldn't be bothered to give me an estimate. Watched some kid lifting a customer's car on the hoist while he was texting. I would be so embarrassed to charge $120 bucks an hour and give people this kind of service. Shame on you.

GM had a bulletin for this premature failure but both this dealer and GM headquarters denied the claim (despite being within age and mileage on the car) citing that "this particular car" is not covered. What a joke!

We bought a used car three years ago, here. They sold us a car that had so many problems and didn't say a word about it. They knew it, as the car was originally sold by them and had a record of 9-years service on that store. Although, they didn't say anything about the engine that burnt oil or that the transmission that had a huge problem that almost took our life on the highway. They are not transparent, nor fair.

Service was terrible. Took my truck in for an oil change, brake service, and oil change in differential. Made an appointment ahead of time for ten in the morning and asked then how long it would take as I work afternoons. I was told approx. 2 hours. Truck was not ready until 2 in the afternoon. When I went to pick it up there were three people there working and I stood and waited another 15 minutes before someone offered to help. I own a camaro and a silverado and neither of these will be back there.

I can't say anything as to how they treat there customers in the service dept, as I dropped off and picked up my vehicle after hours, so that was convenient for me. BUT, how they can get away with charging $555.00 to change one CV boot is insane. They should at least provide vaseline as you pay to ease the pain. Won't ever be going back here for service.
