I’ve dealt with this dealership a few times. The parts and service staff have been amicable. I am an outgoing person who will approach them at the counter to get what I need. I’ve bought parts and they are reasonably priced. Service was knowledgeable. Sales on the other side have always been polite and eager to please. The only so-so experience was the call service. The initial call service should immediately recognize themselves and Hillcrest and when the transfer you they should answer with their department so you know you have the right department. I had dead air once and then she said hello:/. I thought I had a wrong number????????‍♀️

Made an appointment for two weeks out to have my AC problems diagnosed. After waiting for an hour, I was informed that they didn’t have the machine needed to diagnose what the problem could be. I was told the machine has been gone since Monday so I’m not sure why they kept my appointment when they didn’t have the means to do exactly what my appointment was for. I had to take the day off work as I can’t go without a car for my job and I am no further in solving my issue than I was two weeks ago. I was told to see if the other VW in town could help me. I have to return to have a part replaced (which I was not given a timeline on, nor was I informed that the part was being order until after the fact/if I had to pay out of pocket or if it is covered by warranty) but that will certainly be my last visit. Update: I ended up getting my AC repaired at another dealership. O’Regans offered to give me a rental for this appointment, but I had already had a drive prepared and did not need to go back for another appointment so the offer was not needed, but very much appreciated.

I bought my car through this dealer and my car is still under warranty, so I brought my car in to them because it fails to start in the morning. I now regretted that I did. I came in the morning with three problems with the car. When I came to pick my car in the afternoon, for the problem that is still under warranty, they told me they don't have the parts and asked me to come back next time; for the problem that is not under warranty, they just did it and charged me without giving me a quote beforehand even though I specificially told them in the morning to give me a quote for any job that is not under warranty; and for the problem that is probably covered under warranty (engine problem), they said they could not find the problem and charged me for the labor. Wow, I should join this industry. Hillcrest, do you still accept resumes?

Patrick was not at all pushy as you normally experience this with commissioned sales persons. He left us in control and helped us avoid 'pot holes' and other potential disappointments. Called because my car had broken down 5 days after being in for a service. Receptionist was very rude and dismissive. Told me "other people have car emergencies too" that I could drop the car off and that it would "be seen when it gets seen" and that I would have to pay $115 an hour to figure out what was wrong with my car when it was in less then a week ago. Dropped it off at 10am. I called at 4:45 to check up and the phone kept hanging up on me while speaking to one of the guys in service. I tried calling him back and it kept going to his voicemail so I asked the receptionist to ask him to please call me back as we got cut off half way through and she said "No, we can't pass along messages" I said "No I was just speaking with him we got cut off he's checking on my car for me" and she repeated "No, we can't pass along messages" and was very unhelpful. Other then that service was good, finally got back in touch with him and I got a rental and my car was fixed by 9am the next day. The guys in service were great, the receptionist on the other hand may need to learn some customer service skills.

We were visiting Halifax this summer when our car required unexpected service. The kind people at Hillcrest were quick to accommodate us and did the work quickly. They drove us back to our hotel and picked us up the next day where we were enjoying brunch. All work was covered under warranty and they fixed the problem as well as something they saw along the way. Friendly, honest and incredible customer service. Hands down the best service we have ever experienced at any VW dealership. I wish you were closer so we could always go to you. We highly recommend this dealership. Thank you!!!

I bought my 2009 GTI from Mark. He was pleasant, young, upbeat, helpful and seemed almost more excited about my purchase than I was and I trusted him. I’d recommend Mark but he no longer works there. The car was located in Ontario and brought to Halifax. They offered it to me for less than the competition across the bridge who also wanted to charge me for bringing the car from Ontario and I didn’t trust them. There was no high pressure after the sale for extended warranty or other add-ons and the only negative part of the process was dealing with finance. I've exclusively (nearly) had my car serviced at Hillcrest and I appreciate the continuity of having the same service advisors there year after year. I'm never in a good mood when service comes due or the car breaks down yet they do a pretty good job considering no one is happy to spend money on car maintenance.

I visited this dealership today (24th January 2019), hoping to find a used Volkswagen. I had experienced excellent service at Leavens VW in London, Ontario and was hoping for something similar. The first time I entered the Main Reception/Service area, there were staff at both counters. No-one greeted me or even acknowledged my presence. I located a display showing used vehicles for sale. I was in the reception area for about 5 minutes. No-one approached or acknowledged my presence. I went outside to the used car lot and walked about for another 5 minutes. No-one approached or acknowledged my presence. Finally, I re-entered the Main Reception/Service area and was finally acknowledged by a manager (I believe named Jason). In fairness, he tried to help, however the overall impression was that no-one appeared interested in a potential new customer. Very disappointing. Not a good first impression.

Very honest with service costs, upfront on problems and effective shuttle service. Also lots of services and restaurants around if you are waiting for a while. Had to have a seized brake caliper replaced on 2018 Alltrack while on holiday from Ontario. Seized up on Labour Day weekend, and was towed to Hillcrest on Sunday. The shop saw it first thing Tuesday a.m. and ordered part from Ontario or Quebec that day, arrived Wednesday, and was back on the road around noon Wed. While I was surprised they didn't stock the caliper, I guess that's the way the industry is moving - low on-site inventory, ordering parts when needed. Still, that's probably not a Hillcrest issue, but an industry-wide practise. The service department was fast and courteous, which I really appreciated since we were two days late heading out of the province, and so far-so good with the new caliper.

We had my (deceased) brother's Golf R towed to these guys when it didn't start. We were visiting from BC to take care of his estate. The service department charged us $411 (before tax) to replace the start switch. They would not provide the defective switch. $161 for the switch, $249 for labor...totally unacceptable labor costs for a simple install. They further charged us $125 to drain gas from the tank (shipping company required less than 25% gas in the tank). We were told they were doing us a favor with this reduced cost. When I told them I was disappointed by the bill for the value provided, they said they had done everything they could for us. The vehicle was left with 4 tires that were well under-inflated, which was reported by the computer. No attempt was made to clean it either. 2/5 for poor value. Take your VW somewhere else for repairs...these guys are clearly not here to help you.

My son bought a car 15 months ago. Six months after he bought the car his key broke. He called the parts department at that time they said he would have to buy a new key. One Jan 18 the 2nd key broke, as he was driving the key fell off the fob not by any damage at all. not on a heavy key chain, no keys other than his car on the chain. He again called the parts department, they at that time said that he would have to buy another key. They also told him that he could start the car with a mini vice grips, and failed to mention that it was very dangerous to drive the car without having the fob and key part together. As he was driving through an intersection the car stalled and they could have been killed or injured another person. When he called a locksmith they were then told by them that they should not be driving the car without the pieces being together. My son then went to see Jason Chow and told him the situation , and I went with him. Jason listened to our story and then went to get another man that works on the cars. He said it may have something to do with the cylinder that they would take a look and see. They paid to have the car towed so they could take a look. That was Thursday, we had not heard from them at all since today. it now has been 8 days that Scott could not drive his car. When they called him today they said they couldn't find anything wrong with the car and he would have to pay for the keys. I do not think this is right at all. At no fault of his did he do anything to break these keys I have been driving cars for 40 years and have never had one key break not alone 2 keys break. One broken key maybe his fault but 2 broken keys are Volkswagen fault. Scott pays his payment on time every month and now he has paid and has not had a car for 8 days and now they want him to pay for the keys to be fixed. This is so unfair and bad customer service. Especially since the parts department failed to inform him that he should not be driving the car with the key and fob in 2 pieces and told him to start his car with mini vice grips. He was actually going to look into buying a car for his girlfriend. He won't be buying another car from O'Regan's if this is how he is treated!!!! Very poor customer service not what you advertise that "O'Regan's Volkswagen Halifax is focused on ensuring all customers receive a premium Volkswagen experience" Update to my review! Mary Ellen O'Regan contacted me regarding my sons experience with O'Regan's Volkswagen Halifax. She listened to my concerns and complaints. After a couple of days of investigating the experience we had at O'Regans. She contacted us and apologized for his experience. and said it was learning experience for everyone involved. She offered us two solutions and we could pick one... 1st O'Regans would give a 100% refund back to my son for the key he had to purchase or 2nd. O'Regans would give him a 2nd key for free. We opted to have the a 2nd key made for free. We are happy that O'Regans stepped up to make a customer satisfied.

In 2015 I had bought a brand new Jetta. I love this car. However, within a month of owning this vehicle the center console screen began not working intermittently. As I assume most people would agree, this is not an okay problem to happen on a brand new vehicle. If the center console is completely powered off, it still displays the time when working correctly. When it malfunctions, it completely goes black, the lights for the inside of the car (only around the center console screen) won’t turn on when the screen is black either. This renders my backup cam not functioning as well. Not a necessary function, but since I bought a new car with this feature, I would appreciate being able to use it. So I brought my car into this dealership and told them the issue and that it was intermittent. They told me since it was not currently doing it, they wouldn’t even look at it. I asked them to make a note on my account that I spoke with them about this. So the problem continues and I continuously try to get video evidence of this happening but often it happens At a time when I can’t take a video (while driving). Finally comes a time when I get video proof of this problem happening. So when I go in for a recall appointment for my vehicle, I bring up the video and show it to the front service clerk. I’m feeling pretty excited about finally being able to have my vehicle fully operate properly. It might be a good time to mention that this is my third Volkswagen as I love the vehicles. When I show the front service desk the video, he just laughs and says that since it’s not happening currently on that day, there’s no point in looking at it. I told him to look at my account because the previous time they told me to show them proof this was happening. He said they didn’t make any notes on my file of this happening and that there was no point in looking at it as they wouldn’t be able to determine the problem. Which I imagine translates to “not willing to put the extra time and effort in”. So I’ve now had a vehicle since 2015 not work properly and still refuse to fix it. I contacted Volkswagen Canada, which was no better, as they told me that they’re not responsible for what this dealership does but they would email the dealership my complaint, which unsurprisingly, they never got back to me. Everybody in my family drives Volkswagen’s but has been having similarly bad customer service experiences with them in the past few years. Thanks to their lack of standing behind their brand and doing the right thing for the customer, multiple of our family members and friends have agreed they wouldn’t be buying another Volkswagen. I don’t expect this will lead to any problem being resolved but I hope it helps new potential buyers have more incite on what they might expect when dealing with this company and dealership.

I have just bought a GTI from O'Regan's in Halifax. Perhaps more than most potential customers, I needed quite a lot of help and advice, as I currently live abroad and am only returning to NS in June . I reached out to John McDonald and can say that I received the most professional service that I have ever received from a sales consultant. With no trace of pushiness, John clarified several issues I raised - over several weeks - and guided me through the whole process. He answered emails promptly and courteously. Can this be taken for granted? Not at all. Readers of this message already know that. But I add that before reaching out to John I had contacted another VW dealer and the service was abysmal. Hi, Val and I (Don) went to purchase a new 2013 Jetta Highline TDI. I had talked to John McDonald a couple of days prior to let him know I had a 2012 Golf wgn with low Kms to trade in. John gave me a generous quote for a trade in price over the phone. He was a classy gentleman who quickly gave us a price and honoured his ealier trade in quote. Though slightly less bi-weekly than Bridgewater we stayed with Coleman's due to our past good history. We told John of our final desicion and he only complimented Art (sales Manager at Colemans) and Oh, told us not to tell Art. However, shopping at Steeles in Dartmouth was not enjoyable and was offered $3000 less than our 2 other quotes needless to say much higher payments. Thanks John and Art

I made 3 attempts without success trying to connect with someone in O'Regan's Hillcreat VW regarding a deal. The receptionist who answered my calls was extremely unfriendly and rude. Every time her attitude was the same. Her tone of voice sounded like I was bothering her. It is obvious she doesn't care to be civil when speaking to customers. She should be fired. Needless to say, I won't have the pleasure of finding out if the whole organization operates the same way because I have decided 3 times is enough. I will take my business somewhere else. BTW, I never got to speak to anyone because I was always connected to the same general mail box asking me to punch in the extension. How would I know who is from what department and at what extension?!

Being a sucker for a shiny new VW Hillcrest is one of my favorite spots. I've just traded in and upgraded. The sales team was fantastic, they satisfied all of my concerns and requirements to complete the deal. This is my 4th VW through Hillcrest. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else for my new car purchases or subsequent service.
