Took the car in for oil change and tire rotation. Came out missing hubcaps and the check engine light on and the engine kicking. Ended up needing close to $1000 in repairs plus warranty work on top of it thanks to the job Macintyre's service did on it. First and last time I will go there. Edit: @MacIntyre SHAME! We DID discuss this the day I got the car home with the check engine light on and your 'service' department was horrible. 20 years of owning Chevs and never had any problems until I moved to Cape Breton and Macintyre's did their damage to it. Very simple solution - I no longer drive Chevrolets so I don't have to deal with Macintyres. I have heard from multiple other people since then that this treatment happens regularly with MacIntyre's service department. And I love my new car even though it isn't a Chev.
The experience I've had with the service department has been exceptionally good. I had issues with service from the dealership I purchased the vehicle from in HRM where everytime I would bring in the vehicle there was something wrong or something broken that always seemed to be not covered by warranty or the like. At Macintyre Chevrolet I was actually surprised that the work I wanted done was what they performed and it was done expertly and without multiple visits to repair the same problem. Once and done. The quality of the service department is more than sufficient to recommend MacIntyre Chevrolet o anyone as there's no such thing as a vehicle that doesn't require some service work and you would be pressed to find better anywhere.

Worst service station on Cape Breton Island! Go in for a simple oil change, service manager insists on doing a software update to my truck (2020 Silverado RST) so I agree. 3 HOURS later truck still not finished, service manager said they were waiting for the technician to do the update but then he tells me I needed to make an appointment to do the update even though he was insisting I needed to get it done today. On top of that they had not even started the oil change 3 hours later. 4 hours of my time wasted sitting in the waiting room. Thanks, I will not be coming back, apologies don’t get me my time back!
Most of the Service guys are great, the odd jerk still there. Just had my next appointment and the guy who served me was friendly and went out of his way, maybe because I am older.

Big dealership, I think it Is the only spot on the island to get a GM product now, been around for a long time. Handed over to second generation family now I believe. Not going anywhere anytime soon. Huge inventory on site.

Usually they are pretty good but this time I had a 9am appointment to change 4 times and I picked it up at 3:30 that’s ridicules.
15 minutes into an hour drive to Sydney from Loch Lomond to pickup groceries at a prearranged time, my anti traction and engine warning light came on while driving on a rough road. A visual inspection didn't see any issues with wheels or steering and braking. The truck was hesitating and shaking a little on the highway so when I picked up my groceries I called MacIntyre Chev as I have been there before. It was 2:15 pm on a Friday. Dennis in Service Dept. Advised me to bring it in immediately. 15 minutes later I was greeted by service staff Carter who suggested a diagnostic scan. 1/2 hour later , I was advised truck was ready. Spark plug wire had popped off. I was back on the road by 3:15pm. Quick efficient service (and on a Friday afternoon) Thankyou MacIntyre Chev!
I had my first buying experience at McIntyre’s this past August of 2017. After checking out all options and competitors, McIntyre’s was able to oblige with all of my requests and hunted down the vehicle we needed. Very few visits, if even any that I can recall, were made to the dealership as I was too busy. They brought a vehicle to my shop to view. The owner even personally delivered the vehicle to my office once the deal was done. Dean Neaves was fantastic to deal with and McIntyre’s delivered on every request made and continue to do the same for service. Very impressed.

How is this dealership even in business?. Im in the market for a new vehicle. The vehicle I want has a more rare option package and aren't always available. I called the d dealership asking for them to find me what I'm looking for. I was told they wouldn't be able to. Not even going to try. I requested to have one built and was told they would not help me and to call GM directly. How is this type of service acceptable? It's not like I was asking for a 1 off holy grail car. Susan Tanner & Jill Nemis couldn’t be more accommodating when I made my recent purchase of a 2018 Chev Equinox. These difficult Covid days make it challenging to do things like buy a new vehicle. My car had been written off in an accident and I needed to buy a new one quickly. Susan worked her magic to get the financing and Jill was fantastic in taking care of all the small details.....like arranging a test-drive during a province-wide lock down when we didn’t think it could happen!! In fact, this is my second time working with Susan on a vehicle purchase......and I told her I’d be back in a few years to see her again. I won’t lie....I love Chevy vehicles!! My recent purchase is my 3rd Equinox from McIntyre Chev. Next time I need a new vehicle, they are my first stop....and usually my last stop!!

***Worst experience ever*** I took my car for an oil change and they did the service that ended up in stripped drain cap. Now they say that it didn’t happen from there, it happened because the car is 6 years old and got the last oil change from somewhere else. I went to the place where I got my last service done and they gave me the checklist of everything was Okayed from recognized mechanics there and the manager told me if they found that, they should not have done the service. I went back to Macintyre chev to show the checklist and these guys don’t have a checklist other than quotes. Talked to the manager and he said that they do the oil change, even when they know that there is a stripped drain cap which can lead to a huge leakage of oil on the road, because I came to get the oil change done. This is the first time in my life getting a quote after a service has been done and he claims that this is how the process works in Macintyre that letting the customer know that they have to pay this much for your next oil change which is around 617+tax. I took it in for just an oil change and this is where I am standing. If they would have let me know that there is a leakage when they took it in for service, that was not there when I took it over to them, I could have went back to the place I got my last service done and let them do the entire oil pan change and oil change. Macintyre Chev just did the service since they could get something out of me for the service which I took it in for and could get more from next visit I guess. I always went there to get the services done but not anymore. Shame on such a big company doing such a really bad customer service like this.

We bought a 2019 Sierra back in November, our salesman was Alden. He was very friendly and easy to deal with. We have brought our truck up for oil changes twice now and the maintenance people have been great. There was no shuttle the last time due to covid which is understandable and the wait time was a little long but one of the mechanics actually called to check in and to apologize for the wait. Very great staff even in these trying times. Highly recommend, and hopefully will be purchasing from them again in the next year.

Booked a detailing package after my service. The detailing was extremely rushed, called the detailing manager who never got back to me. Took a full day off work to have service and detailing done only to be called at closing saying my truck was ready but when I arrived there was much not done. Waste of $200 and lesson learned
Was considering to trade my 2014 Cadillac ATS in on a Cadillac SRX ....our car is mint with 17600 kms on it ....the price they offered me for our car was a complete INSULT....these guys just don't care ....i will do my business elsewhere from now on ....VERY DISSAPOINTED

Long story short, fog lights ... How do you not know they aren't operable when selling a vehicle... Still haven't got an answer from Shawn or Doug on that one, "just mess around with them for the weekend" I was told ... "There's a button" I was told ... There was no button.
In the past 3 yes I’ve dealt with MacIntyre chev mechanical dept and from my past 6 or 7 visits I can tell you I will never buy another GM PRODUCT as long as I have to deal with them. From a 2007 Buick allure I had in their shop for an ABS issue to be told I needed 2 new wheel bearings after putting 2 new ones in 2 months prior. Just happened that the garage that put them wheel bearing in did replace them AGAIN under warranty and the issue was still there. Went back to MacIntyre chev afterwards to find out it wasn’t wheel bearings but a broken wire issue after 900.00 later. Just recently not even a week I take my 98 Silverado in to be timed to be told they didn’t have a timing light and they couldn’t time it. So over I go to MacIntyre chev with a you tube video on how to time it. It had to be done with a computer so the service adviser goes and talks to an older mechanic who was familiar with timing such a vehicle and 4 hours later I’m driving out of there for a 20 minute job to be charged for an hours labor. BUYER BEWARE OF ANY GM VEHICLES THAT YOU BUY OR TAKE FOR SERVICE TO MACINTYRE CHEV BUICK GMC. You deserve what you asked for.
I'm away working an my girlfriend got a flat tire on my truck we have a small child an its our only vehicle She had to drive around with the spare tire on for almost 2 weeks before the tire came in she was in the dealership for almost 3 hours an your guy didn't even put the spare back under the truck for her it's still in the box

April 18, 2019 "MUST READ SHUTTLE DRIVER Rodney MacIntyre " - Outraged customer Brought my new truck in with an ongoing isssue. Dealership had it for 18 days. We went to retrieve an item out of the truck after hours on day 17. Our truck wasn't at the dealership. I returned in the am before it opened and witnessed my truck being driven in by the SHUTTLE DRIVER. He told me he had my truck home for the night. He was "test driving it". So apparently at this dealership the Shuttle Driver qualifies as a licensed technician. My husband arrived at the dealership, upset of course, raised voice, not threatening in any way, and he was told the truck was ready to go now, I guess the shuttle driver gave it his two thumps up. There were a lot of km put on our truck and the gas was not replaced. Service manage never returned my email for an update from days earlier, neither did the service employees. The owner has since called me Shaun MacIntyre and he feels the shuttle driver was qualified to test drive my truck and he was allowed to take it home for his personal use, but he wouldn't tell me his qualifications. He did however try to deflect the issue and our concerns and he told me that my husband was no longer welcome at his dealership, and he was no longer going to service our new GM truck. Way to own up to your responsibility and wrong doing in this situation. I guess he failed customer service 101. We purchased this truck from Steele in Dartmouth and saved over 12,000.00. We did get a price from MacIntyre Chev in Sydney, we even test drove the trucks on Sydney to see which one we wanted and then we called Dartmouth to tell them exactly what we wanted and we literally saved over 12,000.00 just by picking it up in Dartmouth

I was on a search for a 4x4 and test drove a number of vehicles. Not only was I extremely satisfied with the 2020 GMC Sierra Elevation at Macintyre’s GMC in Sydney but the staff there went above and beyond to help! They were by far the friendliest that I’ve dealt with and answered all questions I had - and some were difficult questions. My wife is disabled and they were extremely understanding of the difficulties in not only visiting their show room but also in helping with getting in and out of vehicles. I would definitely recommend this business to anyone that asks and actually carry around their card in my wallet should any ask where I purchased my truck. I put my truck in on a Tuesday morning to check to see why the engine light was on and why it was bucking and never heard a word from them about anything that was wrong, my husband checked on my truck at 4.45 in the evening and here the lifters were gone in my truck not even 2 years old and not 20,000 km on it. I wasnt getting m y truck back till Thursday because of the holiday Wednesday so if he hadn't of checked on it I would of been without a rental till my truck was done Thursday afternoon.
Not impressed. Purchased our vehicle in August 2019 and received 4 free oil changes! When it came time for the 3rd one..Covid hit, so we went to a local garage. Went back this week because our fuel filter changed and get one of the 2 free oil changes left and told...O No! They expired at 48,000 km! First we heard of them expiring ...when we bought the car.. we were told 4 free oil changes no mention of an expiry! Not impressed.
We popped in to get our tires balanced as we could feel a wobble over 100ki. We had great service and my husband even knew the family of the service guy who took our particulars upon arrival. Nice guy. I would highly recommend this business. ????

I bought a truck a couple years back and it came with a Gold Card with a set of prices for the Lube, Oil and Filter changes based on what type of oil I requested to have. I was told and it states right on the card (Life of Vehicle), well MacIntyre's weren't long telling me Oh the price has gone up and then 1 time they said if I could not produce my card they could not honour it. I bought the truck there. Liar, Liar Liar. I would recommend to anyone to go elsewhere.

Re last response I did not know how my response affected the intake Express worker as well as the mechanics who work on my vehicle so I want u all to know the last intake Express person did a great job was friendly, courteous, and prompt getting me in and out by having the shutter service right there to take me to work. I'm travelling through Nova Scotia and needed to have an oil change. Went to the "Expess service". Three hours and a half hours later the vehicle was ready. Is 3 1/2 hrs Nova Scotia speak for express?
Terrible Brought my vehicle here. Only because I have free oil changes from buying at a different gmc dealership. Wanted a tire rotation and.oil change. 2.5 hours later I get my vehicle back and notice a obvious sqweek coming from the tires as I'm pulling away. I immediately turn around and bring it back. They attempt to tell me it was making that noise when I brought it in. I can assure you I know my vehicle like the back of my hand and it was not making that noise when I brought it in. After telling me I was lieing for a while they agreed to look at it and see if.anything was caused by a tire rotation or oil change. But.continued to accuse me of lieing and said they heard it when they originally brought it In. All in all a pathetic experience. Didn't buy my truck here cause there prices were ridiculous.. will never step foot in this incompetent place ever again, and if your smart you will avoid this place to.
I am very disappointed with the Service Department and staff. I am not a mechanic, so when they suggest or recommend a particular type of service, that I must “sign” a work order stating I was informed, does not sound like it is a binding contract but have not fear...If I had a warranty issue, it would be used against me. There should be NO recommendation requiring my signature or initials unless it is immediately required service based on safety and potential liability. The staff did not explain the concern, the employee was not clearly understood - soft spoken, mask on making it very difficult to understand what the recommendation would mean, no quote, no best before date...just to notify me of the matter so they are off the hook.
I was in to get an oil change and tire rotation today and it took over 3 HOURS!!! I had called to make an appointment a few days ago and was told i should try out their express service so i decided to show up and give it a try. well i don't recommend doing that! Nobody came to say anything to me or tell me it was going to take that long, they just leave you sitting there in the waiting room.

Have bought a 2014 chevy trax lt in January of 2021 and had nothing but problems with it thank got I had purchased warranty but still had to pay the first $115 dollars every service problem that had to be fixed spent over a $1000 since I had purchased this vehicle love the style and fuel economy and staff is very nice but I shouldn't have to pay every time I have something going wrong with this vehicle over all I will not be back to buy another one from them does anyone else notice that all the bad reviews are the same saying in there answer sorry to hear about that please call our office so we can ratify this situation
Very friendly service though I was a bit disappointed that they were solely interested in fixing the pricey issue (engine misfire) while running out of time and disregarding the small yet annoying issue (squeeky breaks that were newly installed)
They need to put the price of the vehicle on it so the customer can decide if they can afford it without having to talk to a salesperson especially with Covid-19 going on

EDIT: the dealership contacted me after this incident and had me bring in the truck for a full repair on the door handle! You honestly couldn’t tell it had ever been scratched! I’m so pleased they went out of their way to make sure they addressed this situation and I won’t hesitate to go to them again! Thank you! I took my new 2021 Silverado in for an oil change, the service was fine but when we picked it up, they went to get it for us around back instead of leaving it in the line of finished vehicles, and the guy opened the door for us and we drove the 45 minutes home - only to discover a huge gouge of a scratch on the drivers side door handle that definitely wasn’t there when we dropped it off. This is a brand new vehicle and trust me my hubby knows every scratch and scuff on it, that happened at the dealership and they made sure we didn’t see it while we were there.

Just bought a 2019 terrian Denali from John Archie great price and service
Took my Daughters car in with a miss fire problem and car bogging down. Car was checked out and I was 1st informed of a 420 code and cat converter needed replaced. $1433 in parts plus labour. Then the Mechanic came out and said car smoked on startup and Intake was bad but would be covered by warranty. It was replaced and service manager told me it was ready. I ask about valve seals because I read about this on internet, he assured me every thing was checked out and good. After My daughter picked up vehicle she drove less than 20KM and car stopped. After a 2 and half hour wait on hwy a tow back to dealer. veh was checked out a 2nd time with a $530 bill to tell me engine was gone. Had a tow truck pick up veh and take it to someone to repair I could trust
Lady who make service appointment have no knowledge about cars and she is very rude. I had my car service done a week ago . I am facing little problem after car service. I asked can I take to someone who can explain me what the issue can be . She said there is no one who can answer.over all very unexpected behaviour and bad experience.
Disappointed in MacIntyre Chevrolet... I was told I qualified for a discount in relation to my work on the car I was looking at for a while. Then, when I was almost ready to sign the dotted line, they then told me I did not qualify and added back that amount on the car. I still was going ahead, though disappointed, until I received what I considered a unprofessional call. That, plus the removal of my discount, moved me away from the sale. When you promise a discount, you should have to uphold it. No future interest in shopping at this location.

Poor service unfortunately. I took my truck in and asked to have a steering assist warning diagnosed and cleared. I also wanted them to update the auto CarPlay software after exhausting all methods of troubleshooting my iPhone and being told it was a software update issue in the past. They did clear the warning, but they also charged me for an issue I was no longer having that I mentioned existed weeks prior that I had fixed already before taking it in. They said they looked for the old issue and it was indeed gone. They didn’t even look at the CarPlay and instead sent me home with a troubleshooting print out that only told me everything I had already tried before asking for the software update. I had an appointment scheduled for 10:30am and it took them until 4pm that day before they started looking at it and I didn’t get the truck back until 2:00pm the following day.

I had my car towed on a Wed night. I called Thurs morning 8:20am to give my info and car history. Talked to the service manager Dennis and he said he would call me back in a few minutes. I called again in the afternoon and he again said he'd call me back. After not hearing anything I went in on Monday to ask about it and was told they had no info on how to get in touch with me. BS!! 3 different quotes in 2 hours and my car isn't getting fixed. They could have told me that last week! Very disappointing! Dennis denied ever talking to me. Thanks Carter for being honest I do appreciate that. Not a great service experience at all!

Should be a - * buyer beware between these people and gmc they sell cars that the body start to rust out after a year or 2 and try to make you pay to have it fixed I would strongly suggest anyone looking for a new vehicle go elsewhere

Arrived early for appointment and the staff offered to cut their lunch break to accommodate our esrly arrival. Which was not necessary and i made sure that they took full break but i sure appreciated the offer.
