This Car Concessionaire is included in the category of International airport.
Good attention and so kind
The only elevator accessible from the rental car returns area took me to the (closed) 2nd floor for US departures but would not let me off at the first floor. I had to return to the basement and drag my bags up to the 1st floor because the escalators were turned off. Not great for accessibility.
May 31st I waited 65 minutes for my Luggage. Reason was staffing issues. Today, I land again after a red eye. Guess what. Staffing issues???? tired and want to get home. 70 minute wait for luggage. Staffing issues is not the problem. It’s the result of brutal management. If can’t get act together please be upfront on how long a flight actually is when landing at Stanfield airport. People make plans. A better choice may be landing in Moncton. Or just picking your suit case off the plane storage yourself.
I enjoy the Halifax airport because it is a medium size airport, which means that it has many of the same amenities as other, larger airports, but not quite the same overwhelming confusion, claustrophobia and chaos of other airports. They have done a lot of improvements over the years, and the hotel on-site and parking has really improved everything. I find it very easy to navigate.
Nice airport with a good choice of stores to buy souvenirs from or to just sit down and relax while waiting for your flight. I like the lobsters store and the fact that I can check in almost 35 minutes before my flight and can still make it in time to board the plane. Nice little airport.
Clean...friendly...ns hospitality...never busy...observation room open 24 hrs.good place to sleep...charge electronics...lots of clean bathrooms....4 taking that airport shower....city bus takes you to Halifax for 3.50 it's about 20 30 miles away ..tims open 24hr.The alt motel with pedway right here...about 100.00
Excellent covid protectionn
A nice average airport. Selection of shops is rather limited and prices seem a little high, but considering the small airport size, still acceptable. The size makes it very cramped when 3 "heavies" are boarding at the same time, but was told this was abnormal and due to delays and cancellations. I found the airport staff to be friendly, talkative and even caring.
One of my favourite airports. Fast and efficient with a good layout. Friendly airport staff
Great, no lineups. Walk out to the plane.
One of the easiest airports to navigate. Always pleasant staff around to help out. Nice selection of shops and places to eat once you're though security. There's a rain YHZ is an award winning airport.
The airport is nice. The weather can get quite foggy here and cause delays though. Be aware. I was here at 8:30am on a Saturday morning and for some reason the liquor store was open, but Booster Juice and Tim Horton's were closed????? What's up with that!
Halifax airport is well planned out and looks newly renovated everywhere. Everything seemed to go a lot faster than at other airports these days. From rental car return though check in (they've got true self service including self service back drop) and security. Everyone including security are super friendly. Almost unheard of at most other airports I've experienced in recent years. There are plenty of shops and places to eat both air side and outside security. An all around pleasant experience.
Quite and clean as usual .. not many options for coffee there even though there is Tim’s but I would recommend if you dropping someone to airport to bring your coffee with you Indoor parking is free if you there for less than one hour but it is 3 per hour if you stay for longer
This airport needs a proper transit system into Halifax. The bus only takes exact change and there is no kiosk for purchasing tickets inside the airport. I came equipped with $3.25 in cash but needed another quarter to get on the bus. Went to the currency exchange with my Czech krona but they don’t take coins. Went looking for a TD Bank atm but there are none. Paid the $3 fee at the rbc atm, got a few 20’s went to timmies to break my change buying a croissant. Ran over to the bus and missed it by 5 seconds. Driver didn’t want to let me in. Good thing busses run every hour. Welcome to Halifax!
For a regional airport it is pretty decent. Keep in mind that COVID has dampened a lot of amenities.
Nice small airport catering flights to US n domestic....
Clean neat and easy to get to where your going. Lots of signs and directions.. awesome
Nice, simple, modern Airport! Service teams always seem to be engaged and caring. Nice work! Thanks... airports can be challenging.
Nice airport, smaller than others so it's easier to navigate.
2 people I know flew out of halifax airport 1 was approx 3 weeks ago and my wife today and they were.not asked by anyone for there covid info. And people wonder why its spreading
Easy enough place to get around but wish they had more choices for places to eat in the boarding area.
Really impressed with the airport, over the last 3-4 years the improvement at YHZ is outstanding. My experience has been 10/10 during my last few trips this year 2021. I’ve never experienced overly crowded gates, food selection is great, snacks and convenience is good. There’s a really small duty free , reserved for international passengers. Only thing I wish there was a small clothing store, basic sweats, running shoes… etc. hopefully that’s something taken into consideration! As the province grows can’t wait to see future expansions!
Was a bit confusing. It was hard to figure out where to go once we got off plane. There was also a bit of a wait for luggage.
It would be far more efficient if the the drop off and pick up doors have numbers or letters on the interior and exterior, so those of us picking up others from there could more easily acheive that.
Great airport with a few food options.
Modern, convenient and easy to navigate
Good. Clean washrooms at luggage carousel. Seemed fairly busy. Small airport.
I was stuck here overnight due to weather. The staff was very accommodating, and even brought mats for everybody to sleep on. All the restaurants that could, and stores that could, stayed open late for people. I've always found this to be a great Airport, but my overnight experience on the wall unfortunate, was as good as they could make it. Thank you all airport staff.
One of the best airport in the country ☆☆☆
Friendly, and helpful volunteers. A fine example of local hospitality.
Clean, efficient, friendly staff.
Nice clean airport with some decent shopping variety. There is not a lot of food options once through security, unfortunately. However, there appears to be a number of places under construction and soon available .
The staff at Stanfield Airport in Halifax are fantastic. I've traveled extensively and I can tell you that these people are among the most dedicated I've seen at any airport in the world.
All staff thru my whole experience was amazing so courteous and professional. Very helpful. Very clean building.
Waited 3 extra hours for flight to come in
Nice and easy to get to places. Fast luggage. We were out of the airport with the rental car in less than 20mns.
My experience at the Halifax Stanfield International airport was quite good. I found it very easy to get around and was pleasantly surprised that it was not an enormous airport. My interactions with the airport as well as the airline staffs were positive; I found everyone friendly and helpful, more so that other airports I have visited around the world.
The Legends has best food. Fish tacos and fish chowder are best. Forget hamburgers or fries.
I mean, it's an airport.
Great airport
The place was almost empty so Security was a breeze. And they were polite. I hope more stores will open soon...
It's an International Airport, so it's big (not even close to airports like JFK in New York or Dulles in Virginia or Pearson in Ontario. Has all the gift shops, knick knacks and duty free shops expected. Not extremely confusing. Won't and can't rate airlines because they are each a separate company and are not owned or operated by Stanfield International Airport. Airlines should be rated separately from the structure that is YHZ (Halifax Stanfield International Airport). Airport has ample places to get snacks, breakfast - dinner, coffee or a book/magazine to buy and read during your flight. Building is clean and well maintained, and you can go to the upper "deck" to watch planes arriving and departing.
I've traveled in a lot of countries and the Halifax Stanfield International Airport is one of the most efficient and has the best customer service by far. I easily gased up our rental (which was a free upgrade!) before dropping it off on site, picked up supper, and grabbed a shuttle to the Holiday Inn Express - all in 15 minutes time. Friendly staff were available and happy to help each step of the way. It wasn't busy or any long lines. The Alt is also an excellent hotel option right at the airport if you have an early morning flight. The one downside of the airport location is the distance to Halifax, but it's not too far compared to major cities. Best available option for those travelling away from the East Coast - get fresh Maritime lobster packed up in a cooler box for your flight!
Clean, operating in good order, people very helpful.
Great airport found more food choices before security.
Very good airport and things available to eat and drink
This airport discriminates against unvaccinated people forcing everyone to segregate in to different line ups. Absolutely disgusting what Nova Scotia has turned in to and the airport should be ASHAMED!
Standard airport. Following Covid-19 regulations.
I would like to thank ground staff of air canada, and they are Krane, Sarah an Malinda. They were very helpful, cooperative and professional.
Nice small airport. easy to walk everywhere and lots of helpful staff.
Very clean modern airport, easy to get through.
I get my place here to get home . Great service
The airport was quieter than I have experienced in the past because of Covid-19 and it was a Sunday so that is also a factor, but all was maintained and clean and there were still places available to eat and drink while waiting for boarding time.
Extremely long baggage waits, I’ve waited for an hour on numerous occasions, no one at the baggage help desk. For a small airport things should be quicker.
Unbelievably horrific experience. I waited for 4 hours to get my bag. 4. Hours. I have never seen a more furious bunch of people in my entire life. Thanks to this airport, it took me 36 hours to get home. I would have made it in 23 had I drove nonstop back my home in the States. Absolute disaster due to the staffing issues. I’ll bet Ole’ Scotty was the only one working the baggage claim. Awful. Stay. AWAY.
Very pleasant
Our Airport, is friendly with great shops while your waiting for your flight. Great eating, and great atmosphere
Boring, nowhere to eat or have a drink inside security. Was a good airport but seems covid has ruined it
Awesome place.. amazing staff in pre board..
Very small airport, and very clean. I liked.
Super easy to navigate. Friendly staff. Quick baggage claim. Amazing gift shop.
Pretty small international airport. Not a whole lot of food choice.
It's clean, everyone there is nice and helpful including the customs officials and security officers, there are a good number of shops, and it's not too busy most of the time.
nice and clean, especially during covid it is not that much crowded. many shops are inside the airport. staff are very cooperative and friendly. more importantly it is good to travel to States and to Europe.
Highly efficiently designed
Covid still has lots shuttered. Nicely to see more Travellers
Very quiet at this time. Speedy check in
Fast security but hardly any food and the bar closes at 9pm
I love my home and my city ????❤️????????
Fully acknowledge that it is difficult under current circumstances, but I wish there were more 'shopping' options once past security. You need to be there extra early to get through security, or you did today, and the options for killing time are limited.
staff were polite and helpful...checkin quick and easy at the west jet gate. Security also were polite and kind.
Not bad at all. Needs renovation for sure but for small city like Halifax its normal airport. The staff is always nice. Not too much flight cancellations. Most likely positive impressions rather than negative.
I fly through YHZ a lot and 90% of the time I have a great experience. The other 10% of the time that its not that great is when the security line can become ridiculously long and slow. It's so variable though. Sometimes it's dead quiet and then suddenly a mad crush. One would think they would contemplate maybe adjusting the schedule a little. It really helps to have a Nexus card to get through security faster. Bags arrive relatively fast, though I've had some exceptions to that rule before. I'm really disappointed that American Airlines no longer flies here though :-(
Nice airport. Not a lot of lineups during holiday travels. Easy to get to it. Keeps improving every year.
Great airport, friendly staff and well organized, continuously improving means once in a while there may be minor delays but nothing major.
Traveled the world, great little airport easy to get around, staff is great
Airport of my Nova Scotia ! Very good, clean, easy to move inside, big parking.
Fast and easy. Most things open.
Long walk, we came in to the highest numbered gate. But, well signed, clean and easy to find what we needed. Excellent actually.
International Airport with a small airport feel. One of my favorite airports.
Clean. Efficent and easy to navigate
Halifax is great but the airport is not Friendly at all. The airport is packed and they close down all the restaurants at 7pm. So much for encouraging air travel.
The staff, How clean it is and how they have very strong safety standards..
Never quick baggage. So slow at everything.
About half of retail shops and restaurants are closed at this time at airport. Once you go past security there is limited food and drink. Tim Hortons and Starbucks were not open when we were there. Other than that YHZ is ok, less crowded, staff polite and helpful.
According to one of my friend: Beyond amazed with how exceptional the staff are here! I’ve been here for 20 Minutes and have been greeted with so many friendly faces. I’ve never have such a positive experience going through customs before. You are all wonderful and have created such a wonderful atmosphere that you should be proud of. Thank you you so much for being so amazing and making people’s days a little brighter
Confusing and foggy!
Always understaffed. Always delayed planes leaving. Horrible service for people who pay premium prices for airline tickets then are forced to have their original flights booked and have to stay in another city for the night. Just plane and simple unprofessional service for premium prices. Maybe airports should be doing reimbursements instead of putting it on the airlines and get a lame excuse that it’s weather related when clearly it’s staffing issues.
Great experience, easy to get around and people are super friendly
Signage is severely lacking. Arrivals wander aimlessly looking for baggage claim.
As this is our home airport we travel from it frequently. Over the past 15 years it has been under constant renovations BUT the traveling experience has continually improved as a result. From a larger check in area, improved security features, to recent changes to the departures lounge, the Halifax airport punches above its weight class!!
Friendly staff. Smaller airport feel but with all the amenities.
Beautiful airport - easy to navigate through and friendly staff and volunteers to assist you throughout.
First time flying into Canada(Sep 2018). Our experience with customs was well above my expectations. Everyone there is so friendly, definitely nothing like the states. Small airport but everything seems to be done right for the size. I would fly back here in a heartbeat.
Nice,Quiet Airport. Very helpful staff.
This is really a nice city to visit. Unfortunately a lot of Canadian visitors from United States and everything about the place. It's a small relatively clean sitting on a sunny day it is absolutely gorgeous going downtown. The people no not super nice welcoming enough when you need it to get directions or ask questions.
This is a small airport, yet they have kept up with the times by renovating, supporting Nexus, keeping things relatively efficient. 5-star doesn't mean it's perfect, but compared with others, they are doing well.
I was stranded with no shuttle to Sydney because of COVID-19 ..and ground services helped my greatly ...still have to wait till Monday but I have my way home and it's because plp do like to help .... pretty cool
No issues security was great!!
The airport self is very modern and clean. On Saturday, several stores were not open, but thankfully the convenience store and the food places except for Starbucks we're all open. It's a shame as I did want to go to the Amos pewter store. Prices of course or at a premium, with $2.50 and up for bottle of water. No surprise.
The customer service rep Alan was a great help and very pleasant making the check in with Air Canada process very smooth.
Good service and reliable people working there keep this place safe
Nice airport, easy to get around.
I had no complaints using the Halifax airport recently. There are OK food options behind security, both in the domestic/international terminal and the US terminal. Neither are spectacular but both are perfectly adequate. While there were only a few outlets, they were there. Both terminals also have enough seating. The free wifi is very decent.
Professional staff good food options no long checkin or rude security.
Very, very, good staff, clean building. We're well treated. Overall good experience.
Easy to get through. Local coffee served. Check out the independent coffee shop. Very clean and easy to navigate. A number of great shops. Be there before 9pm to get some good local lobster. Otherwise stores start closing. Considering this to be a fairly large travel hub, it would be nice to have the retailers opening a little later than 9pm. The food court has a good selection to grab a bite before sitting in the Departure lounge. Also a perk, the kids play area in departures. Good for sensory play. Small enough to keep them in close sight but also offering a good variety of colours and toys to keep them entertained!
Really friendly, helpful staff, and clean facilities.
Amazing service....they actually smile and dont look miserable like at the toronto airport. We had no problems finding where we needed to go and there was always a friendly person willing to help us The bathrooms were super clean.Love halifax and airport and people great place!!!!
Better COVID 19 protocols management.
Not too big, not too small. Friendly service all round
As an Easterner trapped out West I've gone through this airport many times; so many times that taking the escalator down to the baggage pickup is a nostalgic experience as people wait for loved ones to get off the plane and be greeted by the Halifax air. In all seriousness this is a well operated airport that the many times I've travelled through it I've never had an issue with the facility, staff or services. Thanks for making coming home so easy.
Not too busy on Sunday
Clean common areas, polite and helpful staff. I have taken a star away for the poor COVID procedures currently in use. There is constant reminders of social distancing, yet on arriving to the airport they corral customers in giant lines to leave as to check proof of self isolation. I understand the mandated constraints, but there should be more efficient pathways to safely exit the airport.
Very clean efficient airport. All staff I came into contact with were really nice helpful and friendly
The airport is laid out nicely. There are a few boutique stores to grab some local souvenirs. I find the staff here to be some of the nicest I've come across at an airport. Maybe it's an east coast thing. Airport is a good long drive from Halifax.
We had a bit of an issue with our plan tickets, but the staff was unbelievably helpful to get us sorted out, and made sure to accommodate with our toddler. The airport itself is very nice. My daughter loved the plane statue that went around the world at the front entrance. Finding taxi/shuttle service was very clear and the entire airport was easy to navigate.
Well organized and not big
Good airport
A very nice, small airport. With a very helpful information desk! And will answer any question you could possibly have!
Cab fares are obscene, the connection to city bus system slow, parking rates high, and the Maple Leaf lounge cannot be accessed if you're flying to the US. And you walk an awful lot for such a small airport. My third *least* favourite airport in Canada for usability and cost after Calgary and Toronto (and I've flown in and out of all of them from Victoria-size and up). Oh, and the new "road improvements" make it much more awkward to use than before (and it wasn't great before....for instance if you go to pick someone up on the lower pickup road and find their flight is late you have to drive around the *entire* airport before you can enter into a parking area....moronic).
Goofiest security screening system I have ever encountered, and I travel a lot. Your trays don't go together, they get mixed up with others and it causes a lot of confusion. How could they possibly take something so simple and make it so complicated? And to top it off some of the security officers are rude.
It's a regional international airport that when operating at it's full function has very good restaurants and shops to service passengers.
Great airport. Well designed. Sufficient food options. American immigration for direct to the US flights. Nice people working there and well maintained as a modern airport.
Was great even got a free covid testing kit for the hole family
Good small airport. Navigating to the departure hall from the car rental building can be a bit tricky. Signage isn't all that clear and there aren't many store or food options passed the security point. But the free wifi is great and security is quick.
Some pay phones are now digital! No more coin operated! Convivence at its Finest.
Helpful staff and the airport is clean and organized
Nice airport and excellent services. Thanks
Decent clean and easy to navigate. Some shops, currency exchange and food. Ample parking including indoor parkade parking
A large number of hand sanitizing stations were empty. They are located past security and in the departures waiting area.
It is a really nice and functional airport that serves you with the basics.
I was flying with my puppy Dexter from St. John's, NL to Ottawa with a three hour layover in Halifax. One of the very friendly volunteers told me about the airport doggy park! What an amazing convenience to find at an airport!!! It was the perfect place to spend the 3 hours while waiting for our flight.. Dexter loved it. At first he barked at the Dalmatian statue but fell in love and while not playing fetch with me, was captivated by the statue. Not so much by the fire hydrant statue though. Thumbs up to this airport;; it was the highlight of our trip.
It is a good airport that can keep you relatively busy in if you arrive several hours early. Staying overnight would likely be tiring though seats, charging areas, and free WiFi are available
Ever wanted to work check-in at the airport? Fly from here and you can, check yourself in, do your own baggage tags and send them off down the belt all on your own. What happened to customer service rather than do it yourself? Then security will check your boarding card, twice in the space of 20 feet, but if you set off the metal detector, you take your shoes off, walk back and through again and then put your shoes back on, errr shouldn't you check the shoes??? Arrival and immigration was excellent, but departure process was a joke.
Small airport, helpful staff and not much busy maybe due to Covid. Only 3 options for food at Food Court and the rest was closed. Most stores were closed except the Hudsons on both floors. The bathrooms were very clean and lots of hand sanitizer stations were available in different airport areas.
Everything went smoothly
Nice little airport and great and helpful staff. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the lack of transit options. I was surprised to find that Uber doesn't service this airport, which I depended lot on when I travel. Should implement Uber as a transit option. Otherwise if you don't drive, there is hardly any way you could leave or get to the airport except for a miserable transit bus that leaves every 45mins.
Nicest people of any airport I've been too. Love the lobster on ice for purchase right in the airport.
One of the best airports I've ever flown in. Stress free procedures. Friendly people. You feel the Nova Scotian welcome the moment you land.
Airport is very clean. Some confusing signage related to Covid restrictions to some areas. We had a hard time connecting with our ride because we didn't know where to go to meet anything other than a taxi. Nice airport
Fast airport getting in/out of. Never had an issue flying with West Jet. Cab fairs are nice and set prices.
Ah, the airport. I rly miss flying
Home still the same. Friendly people and easy to get through security time wise.
Awesome place to visit
Step up your game Halifax Airport. You require people arrive 2 hours prior to an international flight. Yet once you're in security there is 1 option to have food or coffee. How is that sufficient to provide good service to the entire airport? Worst International Airport in Canada.
Nice workers, clean and lots of parking
Nice little airport but beware of bad transportation options to downtown which include your choice of a $65 cab fare or possibly 2-3 hour wait for shuttle service. I recommend chatting up a couple of your co-passengers on the flight in to see if you can find anyone interested in sharing a cab. The ALT hotel at the airport is very stylish and well designed.
Looks like everyone is tired of being cooped up the Airport was pretty full
Very nice airport and Amanda with Air Canada was super helpful with our boarding passes. Flight crew very nice and upbeat at 5am in the morning. Look forward to many more flights in and out of Halifax.
Quiet & good signage for road access. Building signage inside wasn't the best/wasn't easy to understand & looks like it needs to be updated. Lots of food places closed both times I was in it during a weekday.
Easy to navigate, spacious and clean airport. Some better than expected food options, including Booster Juice and coffee shop serving Dartmouth's-own Anchored coffee.
DO NOT CHECK BAGS if you are flying out early from Halifax International (YHX) as they will hold you in a queue with a few hundred people until they are ready to start loading bags in the scanning machine. We spent over 60 minutes waiting in a corridor to drop off our bag, time that could have been spent airside drinking coffee and perusing the duty free store. It also delayed our flight. It is both bad business and disrespectful to treat passengers and airport concessionaires like this routinely. It was totally contrary to the rest of our Nova Scotian experience.
Macpass didt work at an exits
A great place for people watching. Travel is an aside!
This is a great airport. I'm stuck here due to weather. The staff are very friendly and there is a variety of different places to eat and such.
Nice airport, but arrangement of the security screening lines is bizzarrely designed to separate passengers from their bags, wallets, phones and computers, which are interleaved amongst other passengers belongings.
Always a good experience at YHZ and air canada staff to check in were amazing!
the best place i have ever been .thanks
Great Covid-19 viruses spread prevention safety protocol preventions. All staff are very friendly and helpful.
Not much open in the airport when we went thru but quick and painless
I really like this airport. Very pleased with how they help kids flying and getting to their gate.
This has to be one of the more charming and easy to use airports I've visited. Clean and well laid out with good light and food options.
Small and fast. Good place to start your trip
What a lovely airport! The staff are friendly...even security (which is rare in my experience), the airport is clean and modern and they offer free feminine products in the bathroom. Good selection of places to eat and shop. I’ve flown out of a lot of airports in Canada and this is by far one of the best! I am an Ontarian living in Alberta and have never been disappointed when I visit the Maritimes. Just a lovely and friendly part of the country :)
Great as always. One COVID-19 benefit... lineups are short
Great nursing room before security. Clean and comfortable.
Big fan of how they have their security set up
Always great service , very clean and now with covid regulations its even cleaner .
EVERYTIME I pick up a friend or relative the luggage takes at least 30 mins to start on the carousel. Macpass for parking is handy. Still nothing open along concourse.
This is a provincial airport as I couldn't find any direct flight from here. Also, there are no big shopping complexes in the airport building. Overall, a clean, nice & small airport
Verry nice airport. Albeit a little far from Halifax. Food and souvenirs available. Taxi, hotel shuttle, and bus services from just out front of the building.
Not bad, Covid has all the stores closed. But the place is clean and the employees are health and safety conscious!
What's not to love. This airport gets better and better. Easy access and lots of indoor parking. Inside is well laid out and I have seldom had to wait.
Great airport. There's enough food, shops, and parking. Security is fairly quick and painless. The design is nice. Only had one problem with the parking ticket machine, where it ate our ticket, but the lady found us in the system.
The largest International Airport in Eastern Canada. It seems that every time I visit the airport, there are more changes. I love that it is easy to find things at the Airport. The check in area is more open at every visit. Most Airlines have self check in machines and few humans to talk to. As well, you have to weigh your luggage and put in on the belt yourself. Not particularly user friendly for seniors. Security is always busy but that is a good thing. The food court, and shops, on the main floor, give a nice variety of food and last minute gifts for all ages. Sadly, the arrivals area has gone the way of other airports around the world and you can no longer greet loved ones until they have their luggage and come through a gate. I love Halifax Stanfield International Airport and only wish it can remain the easy to navigate small town airport, it has been and is!
I've flown in and out of this airport many times over the years. It's a nice airport, fairly modern and well maintained from what I could tell. Never had an issue with luggage (obviously this depends on where you're travelling to or from and the airline as well). It's about what you'd expect, although I noticed since the pandemic they're are less people around to help you so you're better off asking other passengers for assistance should you need it. Overall, a decent airport, easy to navigate and something charming about a $14 pint to ease those nerves before the flight (if that's the case just be sure you chose an isle seat on the plane for easier access to the washroom). Happy travels
East to manouver. Relaxed, not crowded or as hectic as some big Canadian airports. Easy car rental drop off. A great experience.
Great
Convenient small airport. I read reviews and it’s unfortunate some put their bad experience on the fascilities. There are quite a few stores, restaurants and food options before and after security check. Security check was fast and easy. Pretty much standard procedure. The terminals are clean and there are plenty of charging outlets throughout the airport areas. Rental car and parking garage access is easy to find. It is quite a bit out of Halifax, so getting to Halifax without a car might be a bit time consuming.
WestJet - I ended up boarding 30 minutes late. The plane was on time but the people at the counter that were supposed to call people to board didn’t look like they knew what they were doing. It looked like they were trying there best but please try to do better.
Very nice. Great fish and chips at Firkin Pub at the airport. Reasonably priced as well.
Great Airport, quite during Covid19
????YHZ airport has improved so much in the last couple of years and with this beautiful display of Xmas trees it’s always fun Look fwd to it each year Thanks & Happy New Year! 2020????
I arrived early for my flight home to Toronto on a Friday night at just before 7:00 p.m. for a 10:00 p.m. departure. I skipped breakfast and only had a small pizza for lunch so figured I'd check in early and relax over something to eat and drink at the airport. After checking in and clearing security, I got to the departures area to find everything closed except one bar and they told me they were closing imminently (7:30). I managed to order 2 draughts before they closed but still no food available. My only option was to go back through security to the main terminal where my only 2 options were Tim Hortons or A&W . So burgers at A&W it was . What a nice gourmet meal for the last one of my holiday ! I could certainly understand if I was on a midnight flight that the places in the departure lounge would be closed , but 7:00 on a Friday night !! Considering that many flights are not offering any on-board service due to Covid , you would think the airports would make an effort to have somewhere open for passengers to "fuel up" before their flight . How Halifax can be called an international airport with such shoddy customer services is beyond me . Our American visitors must think they've landed in the boonies compared to the level of service at all of the American airports I've traveled through . I am not impressed !
The best airport I have ever experienced. Total easy access and excellent assistance in the process of check in,and happy friendly helpful staffs.Thumbs up to this airport. Love it.
Or u can do it there I suggest doing it bf u go to save time
Like the lay out, variety of food choices. Simple to navigate.
Had a time b'y. I recommend it
Great service, covid safe and great food, great sleep, rooms clean and comfortable. Able to leave our car until we return for free. Shuttled free to and from the airport.
Great service. Was there early enough there wasn't many people around ????
recently moved to halifax and travel a lot for busines. This airport is wonderful, never too busy, always quick through security. Very clean and modern with really good selection of food especially considering the size. the wifi sucks though .... Like I tried to run a speed test to tell you how bad and the test failed
Great airport, very nice and friendly staff. Nice & clean facilities. Don t expect to see many shops at the duty free section. I suggest that you buy some snacks before making your way to the airport because it s extremely expensive to get some very cheap and unhealthy snacks!and there aren t any option to choose from. If you are arriving It s better to rent a car to go into the city as the cab is very expensive. Unless your are sharing with someone I wouldn t advise it????
Lovely, smaller airport, well laid out with all the services you can expect. In addition, they great stores featuring local products - well worth the time to go browsing.
I travel in and out of the Halifax International Airport 30 to 40 times a year. Halifax International Airport is the least organized airport in North America. I’m currently writing this review while I am waiting 30 minutes on the tarmac, from Newfoundland, waiting for an agent to deplane! Horrible airport.
Old and small town airport. There was not employees at dawn even though the flight is supposed.Bad experience.
An airport Nova Scotia can be proud of. Halifax is becoming a vibrant, growing Canadian city and the airport is complimenting this. The new renovations are not quite complete but so far so good. New food options are great, and when the new terminal enhancements are complete there will be a great view of the tarmac. There are now flights coming and going to destinations in the USA and many options to get to Europe. A world class airport in our own backyard. Keep up the good work!
I unknowingly left my work iPad at security. A Stanfield employee (possibly named Brian) came and returned it to my gate! I honestly can’t believe it. It doesn’t have my name on it. So I don’t know how they found out it was mine but that is just incredible and had to leave a review. I cannot imagine many airports (and I am not sure who also had a hand in this...security/Air Canada?) would ever do this! Thanks so much!!
A modern airport that pretty much looks like every other airport in North America right down to the Hudson News stands. It was clean, and seemed well organized. It would be great if it was located a tad closer to Halifax, but it has a multitude of connections compared to the rest of Atlantic Canada and wins in that respect.
This is my home airport and it is also one of my favorite small to medium size airports. There is currently construction in the departure area, security screening and baggage claim but airport operations are still moving well. In fact security is probably moving faster with the new baggage scanners. The extension to the departure area will make a much bigger open space in the middle of the terminal just after you come through security when it is finished in mid 2019.
Quick to check in and load baggage and access security, but leave an extra 10-15 minutes to find short term parking and the hike back to the terminal.
I mean its nice there a bar a couple of Little shops, franchise restaurants so you kind of allreddy know the quality of the product.
Nice staff. Very helpful
Everything is always handled very professionally and all movements, departures and returns, are very smooth.
Nice airport. Usually fly in here once a year
Getting more busy no international flights yet
This airport and its staff are top notch, service is friendly, volunteers are wonderful and one gets through there fast. My complaint is with the posting by the airport of the location of the hotel shuttle service. It is hard to find and one post serves both hotel shuttle services so you don't know where to stand to pick up YOUR shuttle. The airport needs to address this problem and do something about it.
Renovations are looking nice, and cant wait to see the airport continue to grow with the growing population and more travelers because the airport will considered too small in the next decade for the amount of people coming and going and I feel during the busy times you see this. Hopefully itll be ok and that the airport keeps growing and expanding. It looks nice so far.
Flying out. Service was good. Dont know why Tim Hortons is not open yet inside the terminal. Westjet was great as always.
Signage for exiting is practically non-existent.
Just a fast transfer but was in the bar very nice people
The folk at Gateway Facilities are awesome! For Private / corporate flights, they are hard to beat.
Been to this airport many times, its pretty good when it comes to airports, but it could use a design change, I have been there so much its not surprising anymore.
Too many folks waiting for incoming passengers not wearing masks inside. The police on patrol did not encourage them to mask up despite signs everywhere? I went outside to wait for daughter from Edmonton. No cars in parking tower was a bonus. Starbucks closed was a bummer!!
Everyone I encountered was very friendly, courteous, and helpful. Thank you.
Quiet and not as busy as it has been in the past
It was nice l fond all l need with out having to ask. The food was good. Everyone was very friendly
I love our airport <3. Thanks to everyone for making it such a great place to fly out of (or into!)
Nice and organized. Very small compared to other international airports. Mostly domestic flights.
Had to wait for awhile as they couldn't get the walkway to line up with the plane
Easy to navigate. Helpful staff.
Stuck here for 6 hours waiting for a ride. There is not one electrical plug or outlet in this whole place that works to charge your phone. How about some maintenance? Do you not clean either? The bathroom has some oatmeal someone tried to rinse out in the sink, it’s obviously been there for days as the sink is infested with fruit flies. If your not going to maintain this place to public standards then shut it down.
One of nicest airport I have ever been! Thank you Halifax Airport for great welcome and goodbye.
One of the cleanest, most pleasant airports I have ever been to - and I have been to tens of them. What really surprised me are the staff. There was a problem between an airline and me. The airport staff fought tooth and nail to get me a ticket refund, so that I could go home to Toronto - and after hours, late at night, they were finally successful. They called the airline numerous times and negotiated on my behalf. They even got the airline to pay for my accommodation near the airport for the night. Some amazing people work here. If I could give this airport 7 stars, I would.
Clean airport, great facilities, not too busy, and security are friendly! What more does an airport need tl offer?!
Terrible couldn't get anything to eat in my 5 hr layover
Terrible experience. My daughter waited 1hr10 minutes just to check in with an agent. ( she had a dog so couldn't do self check in), andv the agents were not pleasant or helpful. Just mortified by our experience today qnd many others voiced their opinions today as well.
Very well organized if you gave had covid shots and have paperwork. Well done halifax.
Very clean well organized and friendly.
Amazing. The environment was clean. The parking was easy. The staff all dressed appropriately and masked for COVID-19 precautions.
Very friendly and helpful staff! Good directions and traveler friendly
Clean, efficient, well layed out; what more could you ask for? An ideal small Airport with the majority of employees being genuine and kind. If you have any issues the Information Desk has always been helpful for myself and guests.
I fly in and out of this airport >15 times per year. Security ruins this airport. If a couple big planes are boarding security can only screen the ‘Elite’ travellers as quickly as they arrive while the standard line goes nowhere. Expect to wait at least an hour in line. Otherwise shops and food options are quite nice and is a lovely little airport.
It is a nice airport. The new covid restrictions make travel very different. Everyone was very nice.
Excellent Airport very clean and good variety of vendors to pick up some last minute souvenirs or food. Only negative was the luggage scanner everyone was having issues with every machine.
Everything is to covid rules. Water very expensive. Had a little delay u think there would be spacing on the plane but very tight every seat full
I arrived right after midnight from Toronto. Evsn though it was the middle of the night, The staff was extremely kind. They explained that I was to register through the Provincial COVID-19 app and that I was going to report of my isolation plans. All excellent and well organized. Thank you!
Great airport for its size. I find the larger city airports to big and confusing, but the Halifax terminal is always clean and easy to get around. Just wish they had better access for people with disabilities.
Not very busy so check-in was fast and hassle-free. Friendly airport staff all around, even at baggage check. Boarding was efficient too. Pleasant airport overall.
The flight previous flight at my gate was delayed and didn't assign a new gate till 10 minutes before we were scheduled to start boarding. (So hectic and overly crowded during covidthis was the only reason our flight got delayed and people missed connecting flights)
Lovely small airport with everything within reach. Need not walk too much for car rentals or anything.
A very standard airport. Security isn't unbearably long, plenty of space to sit and outlets at every set of 3 seats, restaurants and shops with interesting souvenirs. They have these cool library machines, so if you have a Halifax library card you can check out a book while waiting for your flight. It's a brilliant idea. Bathrooms are very clean and big. The water fountains have very cold water too.
Clean and very well maintained. Friendly and helpful. No stress travel.
Such a nice airport, not too crowded and they've upgraded it a ton!
Nice little airport. Though nothing special.
Very little open in terms of retail, Air Canada was horribly understaffed, delayed flight resulted in mass confusion at the airport.
Nice airport, quick though security with lots of seating. It could use a lot more plugs for charging electronics.
Everything went smoothly until the exit. Very confusing to what line you were to exit. Sign were too small and not very visible on which side to go to. Vaccined or non-vaccined otherwise all was good.
Fast luggage and clean environment
Very small airport that is well stocked in resturant and vendors selling snacks and tourist gift items. There isn’t Uber, so be prepared to wait for a taxi for sometime during peaks times.
No shops opened they keep it clean and organized immigration officers probably peeling potatoes as there is no information flights:)
Well organized during the pandemic
Very organized professionally managed airport planning to be an international airport and serve more airlines and go to more destinations soon. Plan to arrive 3hrs before your flight to check in your luggage and clear security
No Tim’s open at 7:00 am! I wanted to get a meal before I got on a five hour plane trip!!! Not happy ????
Had my 7 hour layover for a transfer here and is happy with this little but well rounded airport. There are enough shops to keep me entertained and I can easily find food. The Observation Deck is a must see, I can enjoy my food under a stunning view, and it is quiet enough for me to have a nap before my early morning flight. The airplane shaped bathroom sink drain is a nice touch, although you can find this in a few other airports too.
A small but well run and designed airport. Plenty of stores to keep you entertained and ability to buy lobsters before going through security. There is also a tourist information centre before you head off to Halifax.
This airport is the armpit of international Canadian airports (especially now that covid has everything closed). Highly recommend eating before going through security (international and domestic flights).
Get your de icing in order.
Lovely smaller sized airport. Nice shops and restaurants.
Beautiful airport
Staff was pretty friendly, security was pretty tight all in all, i felt very comfortable traveling during covid
I mean... it's an airport. Past security the selections are a bit scarce, but it's clean, relatively quick, and pretty comfortable.
I don't particularly like airports, but this is a small, well organized facility with security that has retooled for pandemic protocols well. I've had a bad experience at every airport, but the large majority of the time, this airport has been excellent.
tip: If you are flying directly to the USA early in the morning with only carry-on luggage, you should get there well before the 5am opening of their immigration services (follow the USA flag signs), and line up to the left of the immigration entry way. The folks with checked-in luggage will be lined up to the right of the entry way with their luggage. You will go in first. There is no such thing as TSA-pre check, so everything (shoes, backpacks, carry-on, etc) goes into bins. Our boarding passes on our phones did not have the date showing so that was an issue, but after several tries at scanning, they let us through. If you have trouble registering your fingerprints with the Global Entry kiosk (press down very hard) you may get an X on your receipt over your picture, but after seeing an agent you should be able to pass through. This is Canada, so most people try to be helpful, eh?
This is a good airport for getting in and out of. Set up well too get through with ease Pleasant staff for the airport and shops and always clean. Pleased to see growth at the airport as well. It's a short jump from the pedway to the door but it can be cold.
Pick up of passengers was easy to find due to effective signage
No issues
The west jet staff are soooo slow. You need to plan to arrive 3-5 hours early just to be admitted. BE AWARE!
Very different now. Everyone is required to wear a mask inside the building at all times. Getting busier, which is nice to see. Still a lot of businesses not opened up.
Had a very positive experience at the airport this morning. Felt safe, the other people waiting to board the same flight as us were all social distancing.
Very helpful staff! :)
Very impressive airport. The check-in process is totally automated. Very few airports have such a system.
Great little airport. Easy to navigate and has everything you need. Observation area is always a hit. People are always friendly.
Nice and clean. Safety A÷and not to many people
Basic with no services. They are not ready for the travel rush. The travelers are traveling with few amenities in this particular airport.
Wowwww... everything superclean, good organization and very friendly ppl
My favourite spot for traveling
No sanitizer station from where passengers are coming out. There should be sufficient stations for people out there
Airport has fast pass through security and a country feel
Very nice people and present atmosphere
Always stop here on my way to Newfoundland. Great little airport with a few stores. Tim Horton's and a brand new restaurant named bia mara. 2 hour stop over is perfect.
People parking where they're not supposed to be, ie. Fire lane. People not properly wearing their masks. Airports are covid-19 hot spots.
One of the very calm Airport. Not that busy but all the facilities are up to the world class.
Very smooth arrival from UK. Started with arrival 40 minutes early - no circling for ages for a slot to become free. Departed plane via Footbridge into bright well sign posted terminal. Customs was slick and easy with use of electronic passport machines to take your declaration and then over to desk with passport official. Baggage clain was straight forward with luggage quickly arriving after transit thru passport control. Arrivals is bright and airy. Well sign posted for onward ground transportation into Halifax and other areas. A nice smooth arrival into Canada at a smaller airport.
Neat and clean airport..! Very supportive staff.! Many places to have snacks and coffee..!
why is there no fly and parking because of Covid???
Super organised, smooth and fast processing with friendly, helpful staff.
Easy to find your way around. Great signage.
Best airport in Canada easy pick up and drop off . Need help finding where you have to go . The staff are always ready to help
Nice airport, especially for a smaller city. The older Caucasian male with glasses working the Wesjet check-in counter at 1:15pm today was horrible though. One of the rudest people we met here. Not the best way to be ending our trip.
The lack of signage at the luggage conveyor area made arrival frustrating.
The guy at security made me take my sweater off, calling it “outerwear” when I asked if I could keep it on. It’s just a knit cardigan type sweater. It was very cold and I was just wearing a thin undershirt underneath.
Very swift....
I'm from Winnipeg & I liked the airport immensely. Friendly helpful staff & very well kept, super clean just like all of Halifax. Reasonably priced souvenirs, super cheap compared to most airports. Love everything about Halifax & plan on moving there. BY WINNIPEG !
The staff at Air Canada Cargo are so friendly, helpful and accommodating. What a great team.
Lots of changes since I was last through. Covid protocols for leaving the airport well enforced, clear and easy to follow.
Its Halifax Airport good security and couple shops open
Arrived after a 2 hours delay. Waited for 30 lines for bags to start on the belt. Then THERE WAS NO TAXIS!! What kind of 'international airport' has no ground transportation waiting when a plane of 200 people arrived? Bush league operation here.
As far as the airport itself goes I would give it a 1 star, not bad once your enter but once your through security it blows. They only place you can get anything to eat is a Tim Hortons that’s understaffed and wine bars. Lack of shops and the ones that are there Woah 10$ for a bag of candy that’s 1.99 at a conscience store. The saving grace is the employees, incredibly nice. Shortest time I’ve spent going through security ever. Wasn’t profiled and the girls were even asking me about my tattoos.
Amazing. Easy not too busy.
Not crowded. It was fast and quick.
Felt very safe walking through Stanfield Airport! Clean appearance, thorough covid measures, friendly staff. No complaints!
It was a great experience, and was fast and efficient. Definitely one of the better airports I have been to. Nice viewing area too.
It was a good experience. Everyone one was super helpful, making all the nebulous new rules less stressful to deal with.
Helpful staff! COVID take-home tests!
Our bitter sweet 8 hour flight delay due to weather was sweetened by exemplary service by an Air Canada manager named John. Upon reaching the gate our family was greeted by a lengthy weather delay when a nice man named John approached us and swung into action. He turned possible frowns of the kids upside down by taking the kids to an air Canada cockpit. Great service Mr Shandy. Well done sir!
Such a great airport to fly in and out of. All of the extra Covid protocol is handled very well.
Airport was very busy due to Upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday
Friendly staff....great parking easy to use.
Still not real busy, need to get vaccines and vaccine passports at least for Canadians to be able to move freely within the country to help the airports and aviation industry in general. Then all the local shops, restaurants and small businesses can start opening again.
Quick, Clean, polite staff, super helpful.
What a fantastic airport. Many many shops. Friendly staff around every corner. Wide open spaces and easy to get around. It has a Starbucks below and after security. Very well organized. Well done to the airport authority. Many times you pay tax and don't see the improvement. That is not the case here.
It was a ghost town at the airport. Park and Fly only had 3 cars in the parking lot. Normally it's full.
Pal Aviation services are wonderful people, great experience
The service is less than ideal some of the machines don't work, the employees seem to not know what they're doing. I do not like it at all. However Halifax itself is a WONDERFUL city
Really good airport. Services to all over the world. All staffs are very friendly..
Clean, well laid out and the meal we had at the Firkine and Flyer was really good.
Great airport . Easy to use
