After speaking with the same salesperson multiple times today about a specific vehicle I drove over an hour to test drive it, with the intentions of buying it. Only to show up to the dealership with a bunch of confused sales people, the gentlemen that I had an appointment scheduled with “wasn’t in today” and then to find out the car was sent hours away to another dealship. No heads up or notice and nothing similar to look at. Very disappointing and unprofessional.

When we entered the showroom, we were greeted and spoke with Dean Myles. We had a vehicle in mind that we had seen online. When we realized the one we wanted was sold, Dean really focused on our family's needs. We were not pressured, and he guided us through our options. All of the staff were great, Ryan was a delight to deal with (and pretty funny too). Another woman brought our niece some toys to play with, which made the experience much less stressful. All of the staff were lovely to deal with, and WE LOVE OUR NEW VAN!

He really did everything he could to make us happy despite the inadequacies of the detailing department to be exact. On the plus size it was easy to make an appointment, and the service staff were friendly. On the negative, I ended up having to go back to get them to fix an issue. My car was in for its first scheduled maintenance (only 11,000 KMs on the car). Later that day when I got the car home I noticed oil dripping onto the garage floor. I took the car back a few days later. The oil leaking was apparently due to a messy oil change which was not cleaned before giving the car back to me. In the end, the underside of the car was cleaned up and the service people were (again) fairly friendly, but didn't go as far as apologizing. As this was my first visit I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

As far as customer service goes when buying a car, you want a pleasant, straight shooter who looks you in the eyes and works to get you to where your comfortable with a deal. I've been a customer of theirs for the last 6 years. Did not have many positive experiences with them. I've bought and serviced 2 minivans and 2 trucks from them. On one of the minivans (2 years ago), I had the van at home registered in my name, insured and had a completed signed deal with them, I got a call from the salesperson who said he had me sign the wrong contract and had charged me $1000 too little, he wanted me to come in and give him a cheque to cover the difference. When I refused their sales manager told me I had no ethics and that they would be losing money on the deal. Just recently I went in, I wanted to trade my truck in for a newer one with more options. The salesman said he didn't have what I wanted but could sell me another truck, I told him I wasn't interested in what he had and if he could check around and call me when he found what I was looking for. After a week of not hearing from him, I went back in to ask if he had found anything. He said that there were no trucks available with the options that I wanted and proceeded to push another truck on me. I decided to do a search on my own of the local dealers in the area. I found 33 trucks that matched what I was looking for. It took me less than 5 minutes to do the search. I ended up buying a truck in Mississauga, from Teamchrysler.ca which they had no problems delivering here to me in Kingston, fully knowing that I probably would not be a repeat customer for them, and that I would not have the truck serviced by them. I also encountered many problems while having my vehicles serviced there. There was almost always garbage left in my vehicle when they were done. I was overcharged on many occasions, and recently they replaced the hood on my truck under warranty for premature rusting. When I picked up the truck, there were parts left on my dashboard, I drove away only to have the hood liner fall into my engine and make a huge mess, and again on this occasion they left garbage behind in my truck. I stopped in yesterday to talk to their manager about the problems that I had been having with them, he said he would have the owner call me, but of course no call as of yet. I am done with this dealership, and would recommend that it be avoided. They used to be good when they were actually owned and operated by Jim Thompson, they still use his good name but the dealership has changed hands twice since. Just posting this as a warning to those who may be thinking of frequenting this dealership.

I went to this dealership to buy a vehicle. The salesman just wanted to show me their website. I could have just stayed home to look at their website. They lost a sale. As a customer I can't commit to buy a vehicle by just looking at a website. If you're looking to purchase a vehicle, don't let any dealership smokescreen you with their website. You want to look at the actual vehicle and test drive it.

I drove down from Ottawa to test drive a car and when I arrived, I find out that the 60k km mileage shown on their website should actually have been written as miles (i.e. 100k km)? This is a car that had never been registered outside of Canada. Suddenly the asking price went from attractive to overpriced. They tell me they feel badly and apologize, and to make it up to me they'll mail me a $50 gas card. It cost me more than that to rent a car to drive down, forgetting the 4h round trip, but I can appreciate that it's a nice gesture of apology. 3 weeks later and I haven't received the promised gas card. Either they're incompetent or deceitful, and I'm leaning toward deceitful as both mistakes were to their benefit.

We made an appointment with Nick Jensen and I'm glad he was who helped us through the buying experience. Nick was friendly, and understanding of our situation, and knew all about the features and specs of the cars that we wanted to look at. He never made us feel pressured. He was honest throughout the process and made things as smooth as possible. I also will say that after everything was finalized I noticed their incentive for Frontline workers, and inquired about it. The manager actually threw in 2 oil changes on top of deals we were already getting which I thought was a nice touch. I believe Jim Thompson Chrysler went above and beyond when dealing with us. The process was clear and the staff were very nice to deal with. I will definitely buy from them again, and will highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new or used car.

They're great right up until they get you into a car. After that they couldn't be bothered with you. When my cars security system shut down my ignition in cold weather in the middle of an empty parking lot for absolutely no reason there wasn't a customer service rep or technical support rep to be found. Even left a message about my predicament and never received a call back. I suppose I should be thankful that my children weren't in the car when it happened. I ended up having to walk home to get my second key to disengage the security system. Thank Christ for the Internet.

Last fall, I bought a new Jeep North at Jim Thompson Chrysler in Kingston. Dean Myles dealt with me in a calm and understanding manner. He provided the vehicle that I needed at a reasonable price. He also researched to make sure that I could use my almost new snow tires on my new Jeep. (I found out that MOPAR had a discount on the steel wheels.) My first service at Thompson's was enjoyable. They changed the oil and ran down their check list including tightening down my hood a little because I was experiencing hood "flutter." All is good now. As for the Jeep itself: I love it. And this was the winter to test it out!!

People should know this is now my second review. My motor on my 2016 has a misfire, but no engine light. Instead of trying to find that problem they told me I needed a new rad which was just replaced in September. Do your job and worry about the misfire and not my rad that's still under warranty ! Terrible techs here, and the worse attitude I've ever had to listen too. When I first heard back they told me there was no misfire, but as soon as I got there to pick it up it happened in the parking lot. Lol good effort folks!

Frustrated with this dealership! We live 4.5 hrs away and made a appointment to view 2 vehicles 24 hrs in advance due to Covid protocols. We left bright and early to be there for our 10:00 am appointment only to receive a phone call 1 hr before arriving telling us the trucks were no longer on the lot, that they had been moved the evening before to Cornwall! The service while purchasing the car was great, UNTIL after the purchase. While picking up the 2 vehicles we purchased, we noticed rock chips in the paint which we didn't see during the purchase as it was night time. This wasn't disclosed and was odd for a 2020 certified pre owned vehicle (Hyundai Elantra). There were also paint scrapes on the rear bumper that were not disclosed. The salesman said he didn't know about it, and offered to have touch up paint ordered to rectify the issue. This was January 4th. A few days after purchasing the car, I had a headlight out, and assumed since it was only a few days after purchase they would just replace my headlamps (it costs $70 and would keep a customer who just purchased 2 vehicles happy). Instead I was told to book an appointment with the Hyundai dealership, to make sure it was the bulb that needed replacing (it is) and JT Chrysler would pay the diagnostic fee, and book me in for another appt to change the bulbs. I called Hyundai who directed me back to JT Chrysler. All in all a pretty big run around for some headlight bulbs. Fast forward over 2 months later, I am out of pocket for the headlights, and have chipped paint on an almost brand new car, which by the looks of things I will also be out of pocket to fix. I understand that things can take time these days, But I have been able to receive absolutely no follow up on any of these issues. Very disappointed. I will be buying elsewhere in the future.

I purchased a new vehicle from here in May of 2020 and up until my vehicle left the lot, I received great customer service from everyone involved. However, within 24 hours my check engine light came on in my vehicle and I immediately contacted the sales rep I had been working with. My sales rep put me in touch with Kingston Kia, as the vehicle is under warranty, but they were unable to look at for several weeks. Seeing as the car had been off the lot for less then 24 hours, I was hoping I would be able to have the team at Thompson take a quick look at it and run the code reader to diagnose the issue. I tried to follow up with the sales rep and sales manager but never received a reply from either regarding the issue. I finally had the vehicle looked at a few days ago with Kia where they were able to shut off the sensor but it came back on within a couple days. It has been a very frustrating month; looks like I’ve been sold a lemon for a hefty price tag. I also brought in a friend who referred me to the dealership and was looking to redeem the $200 referral bonus as his wife had bought a vehicle from the dealership a couple years ago. When I left the lot with my new vehicle, my sales rep said to have them get in touch with him about setting up their gift card of choice. They did so the following day and also received no reply. Needless to say, I won’t be referring anyone to Jim Thompson Chrysler in the future (gift card or not).

Being a branded dealership, the service department has to make a dollar. Unfortunately the cost is being downloaded to the customer. To be competitive in business means more than over charge customers. I am sure when non warranty work comes in, the prices and rates go up because company does not tell them what they will be paid to repair something. Save your money go to a hard working independent garage if it is not covered under warranty. They will appreciate the opportunity to earn your business.
