I've gone to this location twice to about vehicles. First time, they tried to get me to finance a completely different vehicle than what I was interested in. Second time I put in a request for a test drive of one of their vehicles for the next day, come next day, no email or call or any means of communication to confirm our deny my request. So, I had to call to ask about my request to drive and was told the person selling it would call me back. When he did call me, he informed me it would be on their lift having an inspection done but I could come by to look at it. After work I took the time to gather my wife and head over only to be told it has been sold while on the lift. No courtesy call, the salesman claimed he emailed me, but I had recieved no emails. Not only to mention not a single person is distancing or wearing masks in their small office...

I decided to give Howie's a try after reading multiple positive online reviews. I came in with a 1995 Mazda looking to upgrade to something with power windows and air conditioning, but fully expecting to have to get something else older and cheap due to my low income. But they spent a long time working out numbers and managed to come up with an amazing finance offer for me, which allowed me to leave with a much nicer car than I ever dreamed I could get! I'm very happy with my new car and highly recommend this company to anyone else in the market for a vehicle!

Really good experience here. Got a great vehicle for a good price. Wayne, the salesman, was a pleasure to deal with. They replaced the brakes and did a service after we'd committed to purchase, and we didn't even know until we went to collect the car. Having mechanics on site makes a big difference. Just got a great deal on a low mileage Kia Soul from Howie's. Our salesperson Wayne was very knowledgable, helpful and friendly. He was a pleasure to deal with as were all the other staff. Before we picked up the car they put it through their 50 point inspection and then installed new brake rotors and pads, wiper blades front and back, and an oil change at their expense. I went to Howie's out of mere curiosity; Fearing the "used sales person" mentality, I have to be honest, I never thought I'd buy a car anywhere else than a big dealership. We were greeted from a far, giving us the impression that we had just arrived at some friend's home and they were happy to see us. Both my son and I felt relaxed meeting the salesperson. We had a conversation on what our needs were. The dialogue with Grant was more along the lines of two friends chatting vs meeting the drill sergeant. We proceeded to test a couple of cars and after more conversation and indecision on my part, I was welcomed to take the car out again. Grant even offered his honest opinion about both vehicles and which one he thought would suit my needs better. Believe it or not, it was not the most expensive of the two. His recommendation lead me to buy the car that suited my family the best. Once Grant answered my questions and concerns, he introduced us to Allan, the money man. This was by far the best money transaction experience I've had. Aside from my signature needed on many forms, the process was painless and without stress. I drove away with a new car, my son inherited mine and we're all very happy. To add to all this, I discovered that being a client of Howie's, my car can also be looked after in their shop with a 15% discount! I love discounts! Would I recommend Howie's to anyone? ABSOLUTELY "YES".

Where do I begin. I went through some horrendous credit issues this past year. The team got me approved regardless, with a vehicle that I am in love with. The finance rate is high, but represents my credit struggles over the past year. The nice thing is the financier, is willing to reduce my %APR over the next 9-14 months if all payments are on time, who does that? Let's see, not many. My sales guy, Andre, most down to earth guy you will ever meet, just awesome. Finance guy Alan, also very down to earth, a guy who has integrity that you can tell just by talking with him. I met Howie, and Grant, and even spoke with Caron briefly, all seemed the same, down to earth and amazing. The reason this used car dealer gets a ridiculously high rating is because they back their product, and treat their clients VERY well. They sell good reconditioned and inspected used vehicles, and the back them if anything goes wrong, need service? 15% off there too lifetime of vehicle. I can see why they have repeat business. Would I recommend them? Absolutely, I wouldn't recommend going anywhere else for your used vehicle needs, PERIOD. Thanks guys, for an amazing experience! After stressing out hugely about it, I got it towed to Howies. Turns out there was a mechanical failure in the clutch. It was not covered under the complimentary Lubrico warranty, but due to the circumstances of the problem, Howie made the decision to cover the repairs in full with no cost to me. I am absolutely speechless as they did NOT have to do this. This just helps prove they are a company with sincere integrity and they truly care about their customers. If you are looking for a very pleasant no hassle car shopping experience, than Howie's is the place for you. I searched for a new vehicle for quite some time and went to a number of dealerships. I found most if not all very greasy, slimey and pushy to put you into something you don't want or like. They would always ask for a signature without explaining what it is for. Howie's treated you like a normal person and laid it out perfectly for you and then left the ball in your court to make the decision with no pressure, it was very refreshing and I would suggest this to anyone looking for a vehicle. A great experience! Kevin at Howie's Car Corral made it possible for me to find a safe, reliable car (in my budget!) for my Nan. When my Nan's car unexpectedly died I wanted to help her out, but I didn't have much saved and with such a small budget, I didn't have much hope either! I emailed and visited a few different used dealerships. Right away I was impressed with how friendly, sincere, and "no pressure" the guys at Howie's were. They responded to my message immediately, and when I went to the lot in person they remembered exactly who I was and what I was looking for. That made me feel like they cared about me and my needs, not just about making a sale. They definitely stood out above the rest! My first time there I spoke with Ron and he was a pleasure to deal with. Unfortunately on that trip, there was just nothing on the lot that would work for me. A little later Ron and Kevin emailed me to let me know of a new trade-in that might work with my budget. I stopped into the lot later that day and was really impressed with the vehicle; I couldn't believe my luck! Kevin worked out an unbelievable deal for me and I was able to give my Nan a great car that will last her as long as she needs it. If it weren't for Kevin's follow-through in communicating with me after my first visit to the lot, I would have missed out on this great deal. Went there to look at a truck on a Saturday. Finalized everything with the very nice & accommodating finance guy. Had to wait Monday to get the exact payout amount from the bank for my trade. Note, we already know it is less than 20k and we are just after the pennies and dime. Could have completed the transaction Saturday. Monday came there was a different finance person, the lady said put $4000 down. It was not the agreement I had with the finance guy I dealt with Saturday. I didn't argue with her & said I will pass. It was a waste of time, the Saturday agreement with the finance guy wasn't honored. I bought a new truck from a dealership at Duncan a few days later with the same monthly payments! Couldn't be happier.

My wife and I recently retired and decided that we would buy a truck and trailer for a 5-6 month trip through the US and Canada. After searching online I came across the truck that we were interested in and sent an email which was quickly responded to by Wayne. Based on the condition of the truck in photo's and the advise of Wayne we made the trip from Parksville to Victoria on a Sunday afternoon. Wayne showed us the truck and we took a test drive. The drive revealed a couple of issues that we brought up with Wayne. The truck was new on the lot and had not been through the shop for a safety inspection yet. We negotiated a deal for the truck based on a clean bill of health following the inspection. We were updated through the following week about the findings and how the repairs were progressing. They replaced the front brakes and installed a new A/C condenser. After these repairs were completed, the truck was found to require an A/C compressor. We were encouraged to pick up the truck as the compressor was on order and they would have it fixed up island by a mechanic when it arrived. We picked up the truck and the next day found a warning on the brake system. We called Paul the service manager and discussed. It was agreed to bring back the truck to their shop to complete both repairs. We were provided a loaner car for the duration of the repair for the A/C compressor and the brake pressure sensor replacement. We found everyone at the dealership to be friendly and helpful. The dealership did everything that was negotiated and beyond. We were very thankful to have met Wayne and Paul and to know that they and the dealership could be trusted to fulfill their commitment. 5 stars plus!

Purchased a truck just shy of 30,000 dollars from these guys and drove it off the lot, found out they had not done the "inspecion" prior to purchase and had to bring the truck back that had horrible brake squeel, after about 4 times in and out of their shop claiming they fixed and replaced things I got tired of games and did the work myself, brakes calipers and rotors..problem solved. Honestly offended at spending 30,000 on a truck and getting the run around for 300 bucks in parts and labour.. Have your vehicle inspected by a 3rd party before purchasing through these guys! They will never get my money again!

I called the corral very interested in a vehicle. They said no problem and I should come down to the lot after work and take it for a drive. I got there and they had already sold it before I could even have a look. Not even a courtesy call to tell me someone else was looking at the vehicle. Super disappointed with the service here. Wasted my time and money. No honor among thieves with these guys. Thanks for the reply Howie, I actually showed interest in the truck as soon as the add was placed last week. I talked to Bob twice about it in great length who actually gave me the impression I had first "dibs" on the truck and he would mention my name to you. When I called the Corral they gave me the impression they were going to bring the truck down to the lot for me so I could have a look as it was still up island. The truck wasn't on the lot for 20 mins when a random guy off the street comes and puts a deposit down. I guess its my fault for not following up every minute to see when the truck would be there. I'm not sure if that qualifies for first come first serve but I sure felt cheated. I guess your not the worst that was probably harsh, 2 stars then.

I am a citizen of the USA who had been looking for a 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Adrenalin for over a year. We recently had the misfortune of having our beloved Elantra sideswiped while my wife and a friend were heading out on a hike and needless to say, we were in need of a new vehicle. Even though our car had run great, the damage as determined by ICBC outweighed the replacement value of the car and whether we liked it or not, we were on the hunt. Lucky for us, it didn't take long as we found ourselves at Howie's while visiting my wife's parents in Victoria (we live in Vancouver). The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and within an hour or two, we found ourselves the happy owners of a very nice Toyota Highlander and were quite happy with our purchase. Unfortunately, when we got back to the city, we found that the car had some engine troubles. We called Howie's right away and Kevin, the Sales Manager was very helpful throughout the process. He arranged to have the vehicle towed back to Victoria so their service team could get it into the shop and find out what was the issue. Sadly, the issue turned out to be too costly to fix so they offered us a couple of options. The first, was a full refund, while the second was a vehicle of comparable value to the one we had purchased originally. We opted for option 2 and I traveled back to Victoria to see what they had. Honestly, I had hoped to pick up another SUV as that was what our family needed but instead, I ended up leaving with a Black, 2010 Jetta Wolfsburg Edition. We were very happy to get the car back to Vancouver but less happy when the check engine light came on two days later and we found out the timing chain needed to be replaced. Kevin was very helpful again and we were able to work with Lubrico to ensure this costly repair was handled in a timely and inexpensive manner. And even though we had the bad luck and unfortunate experience of having issues with two cars, I would definitely recommend Howie's to a potential car buyer. They are stand up guys who were with us every step of the way.

Meant to write this ages ago but I bought my car from them in 2017 and it's still running great! They stayed open for me late when I stumbled by the lot and saw the exact RAV I'd been looking for. There was no pressure from the staff and they really sold me when they didn't push for their own financing which always ends up costing more than you think it will. My trade in car literally died the day I was going to make the exchange and they still knocked $500 off the list price just because. Also, I had agreed to buy the car before Howie's even did an inspection (it had just arrived) and they still changed the brake pads because they were worn down. Overall great people and good quality cars. Would highly recommend.

I just purchased a 2007 Ford F-350 and couldn’t happier with the truck and the service I received at Howie’s Car Corral. When I first test drove the truck, it had only been on the lot a few days and had not been through a safety inspection. After the test drive I mentioned to the salesman that a few things didn’t seem to be working correctly (e.g. air conditioning) who said he would look into them. The safety inspection turned up a few suspension and brake issues which were fixed (at Howie’s cost) along with the few other items I had mentioned to the salesman. After coming to terms on a deal, which included good value for my trade, I went to pick up my new truck after work during the week. While I was completing paperwork, the salesman went to put fuel in the tank. When he returned, he mentioned the heater wasn’t working so they kept the truck overnight so their mechanics could look at it. Turned out it was a much bigger problem than just the heater which led to Howie’s taking the truck to a diesel engine specialist. Significant and costly repairs ended up being required and Howie’s paid the full cost without hesitation. I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to Grant, Alan, Paul, Ron and most of all Howie himself for their integrity and professionalism during this purchase. I would highly recommend Howie’s Car Corral to anyone looking to buy a used vehicle.

I feel compelled to leave a great review after our experience of buying a car. We went to over 20 places and looked at many vehicles. Howie's acknowledged our need for a full inspection and repair as a condition of our purchase. We bought a great vehicle, only to discover an AC issue in the middle of a heat wave within a week - Howie's ordered the part, made the repair, loaned us a courtesy car, and made it right without trying to squeeze us for more money. Even gave my wife a ride home after dropping the vehicle off to see what was wrong. These are the little acts that can make someone a customer for life. And little touches like washing the vehicles and cleaning the interior make all the difference. My only piece of advice is the decal and license plate covers are a bit tacky. The cartoony branding of Howie's made me feel cautious, so I'm happy to say it's a very reputable and respectable operation behind the zany name. When we need another vehicle, Howie's will be one of the first places we look, and we will recommend it to our friends.
