I had an issue with my GM truck and brought it here thinking that they would know best. Staff was friendly but when I picked up my truck I noticed they didn't do the oil change I asked for. I mentioned it to the counter lady and she said she would make a note and I'll probably get a call from the service manager. I never got a phone call from the service manager and after spending nearly $2000 the issue with my truck wasn't fixed. I brought it back in and told them it wasn't fixed and mentioned again that that forgot to do the oil change last time so I had went somewhere else. I was told I would get a free oil change voucher, never got no voucher. They took another look at my truck and suspect the fuel pump but can't confirm that's what's acting up so I was turned away again until it acts up again. Friendly staff but disappointing service. Within a week of posting this review I received a phone call from the service manager and he wanted to make things better. They are replacing my fuel pump at a discount and picking up the labour costs. I feel they have made a good effort to rectify things

I live in Kelowna. Service engine warning light came on between Nelson and Cranbrook. I wanted an expert diagnosis, especially since I was leaving my car in Cranbrook with my daughter. Drove it into the Service Center at Northstar GM at 2pm, and by 4.30, I had a complete quote on what was needed. The friendly customer shuttle driver gave me a ride to my daughter's house, then picked me up at 10am the next day, when the repair was done. The bill was exactly what was estimated, it didn't need a bit of extra work that was allowed for, and the car runs perfect. Everyone in the Service Department was friendly and helpful. We were heading to Idaho on sept 11. My truck started acting up between Fernie and Cranbrook. I limped it to Northstar. As it was after 4 pm, they were unable to look at it until the next morning. They offered to let us park our rv trailer in their back lot. They got the truck in at 8am and by 10am we were ready to roll. The truck made it to Idaho and back home to Alberta with no problems.

Bought a previously owned truck. They brought it in from their Fernie branch and held it for us until the insurance payment came through after an accident. That was greatly appreciated. We viewed it when it came in and test drove it. It passed our preview, and we noted to ourselves that the box liner was nice. We noted that the ceiling needed cleaning as it had stains. When we were able to complete the purchase 3 weeks later, the box liner was removed, and the sales person was certain there never was one. He suggested that perhaps we had confused it with another we had viewed. We only physically inspected 1 vehicle. No other advertised model met the criteria to be worth viewing. He stated that he would have the webpage editor call up the file photos as he was certain there could not have been a bed liner in it. I stated I wanted to see them when they were pulled. They were never shown to me, but the salesman stated it was never there, but he graciously would install one free of charge. I say again it was there, but although he was basically telling me I either was a liar, or did not know what I was talking about, I did nonetheless appreciate them putting it back - though without attention to detail and we had to pop corners into place and properly apply rubber guards in openings designed to access for securing tie downs. Admitting his error would have been more honourable, and the detailing is still not done. Do love the truck.

not overly excited...while the process was decent the pick up was lackluster! my car was not 'detailed' as promised (the stick from protective plastic was all over the outside looking like scratches on my brand new car, i had finger prints all over the interior, dust on the dashboard). the vehicle was purchased as having 6kms on it and over 11 when i picked it up...was it test driven by others?...the dash fuse was blown and when the fuse was changed the car had another phone already connected to the bluetooth and stations programmed into the radio. i did not get a run through of the car and features as i watched another get the 'royal' treatment. the first thing i did was remove any dealership logos, not going to advertise for them at all

This rating would be 5 stars if the result was as concerning to them as the initial point of contact. Definitely feel ripped off at the end of the day because even the service people are very "sales-y". $1600.00 (which they knew I couldn't afford) to clean some filters and change the oil. But that's not what they told me was going to be done in the first place. And then they've promised to get back to me, etc. But that's BS as well. I was told they have the worst service department and not to go there, but they were very nice and helpful at the beginning so I gave them a chance. Well I could have bought something running better for $1600.00 had I known the difference.

I quite satisfied by the service performed on my car at Northstar GM in Cranbrook. The service staff were professional and courteous and answered any questions I had. I have used this dealership a few times in the past to work on my Corvette as they seem to have experience in that field. I was a bit disapointed that I had to wait so long to have to work done but they were very busy. I had made the appointment a month earlier and explained that I had to travel 3 hours each way. All in all, I'm happy with my experience there. I would recommend them to anybody.

I have to receive body shop repair on my truck as I discovered some overspray. Northstar GM offered to go 50/50 with me on the payment which was very nice, as I had the truck for 2 months and didn't notice things were as bad as they were but I did have a 3 month warranty . The body shop wants to do a different kind of repair so I'm not sure how things will turn out. I live out of town and have to rent a car as the body shop said "we don't give out a courtesy car for this kind of thing". And they need the truck for one and one half days. I would not recommend anyone bringing there vehicle here. First week my truck sat there nobody even looked at it. I put my spare e.c.u in there because i thought that might be the issue they told me you cakt use a second hamd e.c.u or reprogram them but they fixed my truck and left my spare e.c.u installed and it runs fine so it makes a fella wonder. Eventually I was told it would be 1.5 hours labor and 350$ in parts I got a 1150$ bill after two and a half weeks for a distributor and oil sensor installed. Even tho I felt way over charged and it took way to long they would not give me my truck back unless I payed the bill. The parts guy was friendly thats the only nice thing I have to say about the chevy dealership in cranbrook. Spent 9 thousand dollars to have a bran new engine installed for my truck and I've had nothing but problems with it. Always been a chevy guy but starting to wonder if I chose the right team. Will never bring a vehicle there again. In there defense most repair shops give you the run around and overcharge you. Its crazy how they get away with it and stay in business.

I especially like the reminder system by text to let me know that I need to book my next oil change appointment - which you can do online which is very convenient. I arrived at Northstar GM at my appointment time and was greeted courteously by Lu who reviewed with me the other services my vehicle was due for and obtained my consent to complete all the maintenance required. I then was on my way to work with Scott the shuttle driver within minutes. I received another text when my vehicle was ready to be picked up and phone Scott directly and he picked me up within 15 minutes. The checkout and Payment process with Michael was quick and easy. All in all a very pleasant experience to deal with the Northstar Team. Thanks guys!

I could not of been more pleased. I was in Cranbrook BC doing Christmas shopping thought I would take a chance and drove into the dealership on announced and. was received immediately. They are friendly professional and very thorough. They said it would take about a half an hour, and that is exactly what it took. We were camping in the Fernie area when the engine light came on my truck. I was aware of the code for the engine light when we went to Jack Carter GM in Fernie. The service department was very helpful in confirming the reason for the engine light and took the time to try to source replacement parts so that my truck could get repaired during our stay. Replacement parts were not available for 3 weeks but they had informed us that I was still able to use our truck to get home and have repairs done there. They were very friendly and a great help with our situation. I appreciate all they did and that I was not charged for the diagnosis to confirm the problem as I had already mentioned the code for the engine light.

For the past 5 years they have stored my tires and done the changeover every spring and fall. They aren’t storing tires anymore so I got my summers home to store and discovered they hadn’t labeled left rear, right front etc. as they’ve done the last 5 years. Not good. Years ago another shop had to replace 4 tires on another vehicle because they rotated them side to side rather than just front to back and 3 separated because of belt orientation. When I phoned today and inquired, I was told they don’t mark the tires. Funny, but I’ve had to scrub the white grease pencil lettering off every other year and this is the only shop I’ve dealt with for the last 5 years. Disappointed… really disappointed.

My experience with you has been AWESOME!! I had to reschedule a few times for oil changes since I bought my car in October 2018, due to bad roads or work and Tamara and the service staff have been AMAZING !!! Always extremely understanding and rescheduled appointments right away! My 2018 Chevrolet Equinox has been the best vehicle I have ever owned already 50,000 km’s on it and no maintenance required yet! I’m a travelling nurse sometimes up to 300 km’s a day and I’ve never felt more confident in a vehicle as I do now ! Thanks for the best vehicle experience EVER!!

Both Dan and Northstar have gone above and beyond anything we had previously experienced in car purchasing. Dan closed the deal, held on to the car for an extra week while we were away and steam cleaned the upholstery upon my request. Dan also drove me to the Insurance company (as I wanted to stay with the same company we had previously used) & insisted on waiting while I insured the car. After 1 month with our new (to us) car we experienced some problems coming home from the Okanagan. One phone call on the way through Cranbrook and we had a loaner and were on our way home. We had been assured the car came with a 5000 km or 90 day warranty even though it wasn't a GM product. Norhstar and Dan were true to there word and the problem was rectified @ no cost to us. Needless to say we are thrilled with the service provided from Northstar GM and will definitely recommend them to any and all of our acquaintances. We had one unsatisfactory experience with the Sales Dept - which was costly for us - and we would be very careful dealing with them again. Lou bent over backwards for us and the 5 stars are for his customer service. He helped us get new tires for the truck. He wrote down any and all instructions we requested. However to the person who put the tires on gets one star. Can you not read and follow instructions?? Lou specifically wrote down that we wanted 60 PSI in the tires. You obviously did not read this or maybe you just don't care as you only put 40 PSI in the tires. We had requested the 60 PSI as we were hauling a heavy load. We assumed you would do as we requested and we would not have to check to make sure it was done. But this just tells us that we need to make sure to Che k that all our instructions are followed.

I had a very bad experience with the Service Mgr at the Jack Carter GM dealership in Fernie BC. While staying in Elkford with family, it took 10 days to fix my truck (even though all parts were available locally) mostly due to miscommunication and lack of updates to me.I was told it was safe to drive and would not cause further damage, but ended up burning out a NoX sensor due to a blown exhaust gasket. When I asked for a price break due to my extra time and travel, he became abusive and began swearing at me. He told me me to "go back to Ontario to get it fixed" and said they would put it back together and I could leave (dumped !). When I asked to speak to his boss, he laughed at me and said "I am the boss". This was a rare experience for me ! I always deal with GM service and have found them to be professional, courteous and efficient......very disappointed to have to go thru this so far from home

My vehicle had a breakdown near Cranbrook in late April 2021 and Northstar was the only dealership willing to help out. They took 3 days to make the repair (while I waited in a hotel) and finished up at 4:00 on the final day. I paid the $3,000+ bill and hit the highway. 2 hours later, the vehicle broke down again in Castlegar and another mechanic indicated to me the second repair was due to negligence on the part of Northstar. I contacted Northstar in regard to the second repair and have not heard back, two months and counting now. I would appreciate a follow up from their management.

Very poor service, this was the 4th time I brought my vehicle in for seasonal tire swap and oil change. I have 3 yrs free oil changes and a 3 year tire service plan which includes tire swap and storage. Every time I pick up my vehicle I am presented with a bill. I have to bring my service plan agreement in for proof every time and this last time I had left it in the car and had to go out and get it because the service desk employee didn’t believe me. Why wouldn’t this information be on my account, seems like a pretty easy solution. I haven’t had a new vehicle in years and found the experience so disappointing right from the start.

And I was told courtesy cars are a thing of the past! I Brought my Sierra in for a reflash of my new installed transmission. The front service staff was great. The tech did the reflash and sent me on my way. I had trailers my truck to dealership, when I got home to unload the transmission would not engage. I hadn’t put enough fluid in. I would have thought a tech would have checked to see if transmission worked after the reflash.

I was a long time replying to a recall. Mike was great each time I rescheduled ( I live out of town) The recall did not fix the problem with my older Vibe. However I now have a diagnosis. Kudos especially to Jim. He went way, way above and beyond in his help and explanation of another glitch in my car. I suggest he be employee of the month. If I were to return to North Star, I would specifically ask for him. However for a 2006 Vibe, the shop rate of $145 an hour is not an amount I am willing to invest in the car. Though I will certainly speak of the great North Star service and be comfortable to refer others from my town to North Star and especially to Jim.

We had the transmission replaced on our 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 at Northstar GM in October. We appreciated that they stuck to the quotation originally provided and the personal attention we received as out of town customers, when our truck broke down nearly 400 km from home. It appears that Kootenay Pass was just too much for our truck when pulling our 26 foot fifth wheel trailer, but it managed to hang in until we got to Cranbrook.

Well it was late Saturday afternoon when our truck broke down pulling a fifth wheel 30 minutes outside Cranbrook. Jordan from Northstar stopped on the highway to see if he could help. As it turned out the truck was towed to the shop and the techs looked at it first thing Monday mourning. We had our truck back by 12:30 that day and continued our trip back to Edmonton. I received a notice from GM for a warranty service for my Bolt. I contacted Northstar to confirm parts availability and plan a service visit. Once the part arrived, the service department scheduled an appointment at my convenience, on the following Monday. Upon arrival, I dropped my keys at the service desk and was on my way in a few minutes, with a promise of a call once the work was complete. Within the hour, I received the call. I arrived to find my car plugged in and charging, was provided the paperwork of the service, and was on my way again in short order. As a customer from out of town, I appreciated being able to choose my arrival time, and the work being completed in short order, so I could continue with my day’s activities. A second trip to Northstar for an issue unrelated to the first showed the same level of service as my first experience. Having heard tales of woe from other Bolt owners at other dealers, I’m exceptionally pleased with the top quality customer service I’ve received to date.

Drove from Radium to Cranbrook, BC having made a 9 am appointment to have a recall fixed on my Solstice. We were combining this vehicle service trip along with a medical appointment to eliminate the travel and cost associated with two separate trips. When we arrived I was told that the appointment I made was only good for the front end service people and did not include service work by the shop. When I told the service agent that we had another appointment in the city he could care less and would not give me a service commitment until I provided all of my pertinent details (address, telephone etc.). I told him that he first needed to let me know when my vehicle would be looked at so that I could determine if we would have time to complete our second appointment (medical). He refused......so I asked for my keys back and told him we were now going to use Chalet Chevrolet in Kimberley from now on. We had stopped using North Star a few years ago because of poor quality service.....we will never be back now. I would not recommend anyone use this dealership.
