Horrible treatment, customer service & not to mention discrimination issues. I drove my car into the service bay, one of the guys in the drive through asked to take my temperature and fill out a bunch of questions on my health, if I’m sick or have been outside of Canada and I answered all of them and let him take my temperature. He told me to leave my keys inside so I did & everything was great at this point. I got out of the car without a mask, brought my dog with me, everything was great. My dog was also off the leash. I spoke to a female service adviser which was more than pleasant to talk to and probably honestly holding the entire dealership down. We discussed how my car was misdiagnosed and the same problem happened to my vehicle if not WORSE after I had got my car fixed there the first time. She was polite, well spoken & offered me to take a seat in the lounge area so I said thank you and did just that. Everything was great at this point. After 10-15 minutes or more she was directed by someone else to approach me and tell me to wear a mask or we can’t have you in the building, but said if you’d like to speak to a manager you can, he’ll be in shortly. I said I can’t wear a mask “exempt” and I also stated how I’d like to speak to the service manager once he is in. She was very polite and professional when speaking to me and also was really good with my dog. I waited and he finally came in with an immense box of masks Stretching the box out and said you have to wear a mask or you can’t be in here. I told him I couldn’t wear one and he said unfortunately you have to leave and there’s just nothing I can do. I said you want me to freeze outside and he said wear a mask and you can stay. I said can you shuttle me home then and he said no. I told him about their own policies which I was handed by someone who worked there. I read his own policy TO HIM which stated and I quote “Mask must be worn where social distancing is not possible” but it was very possible because I in FACT was the only customer in the entire building, and there was no one around me whatsoever, furthermore he was the one who was close to me NOT social distancing or keeping 6 feet apart. I had told him about his own policy and he froze then said it must be an old policy and asked for the date on his OWN policy, I looked and could NOT find a date on their policy. He’s like you know what put your dog on the leash out of vengeance and we’re going to get your car out of here and you could leave. I could tell for some reason he was angry. I said how I’m in for service and I need it fixed and I’ll just wait outside, So I headed towards the front door and stopped and asked the receptionist if I could speak to the General manager he said let me go see if he’s available. He came back and took my name and number and said he’s stepping out for a meeting and he’ll be back in an hour. I said okay I’ll wait, and I went outside to wait. I was literally Starting to freeze outside and my hands were starting to get so cold they were hurting so I came back in and talked to the receptionist and told him that I wanted to remove my car from service because I was starting to freeze outside and doesn’t the guy next to him say what did you need, and I’m like I need to speak to the GM and he says “I’m the GM”! This entire time they were lying to me because he was trying to avoid speaking with me, how unprofessional and horrible is that from one human being to the next and someone with a position as a “GENERAL MANAGER” I’m LIVID, and shocked that this establishment has treated a human being in this manner as an ANIMAL, furthermore I’m making sure it is known on my social media Of 40,000 followers what has transpired here today to make sure that people understand the poor nature of your customer service.

Never in my life have I been treated with such terrible customer service and disregard for my time. I have requested multiple callbacks from the service manager who cannot even take a moment to find out what is happening in his service department. When my wife requested a call from the general manager of the dealership still no return phone call. This dealership could not care less about a customer.

I arrived at 3 pm for my 330 appointment for an oil change. There were two other people arrived after me for the same service who paid and left and I was left sitting in the new waiting room that was extremely hot and needs better air conditioning. When the car finally came it was after 530 pm. I met the new service manager who helped wash the car to get it back to me. When I opened the car there were still empty coffee cups, an old tims bag on the floor , not impressed with any of my service and I did tell the new manager he has a lot of work to do as the two people that were waiting also spoke very poorly about their experience. I love my car but have to say not happy with expense or experience with assured Barrie or this dealership.

Terrible service provided by the mechanics on my 2011 VW Jetta. Didn't fill my coolant to even the minimum line (see below picture) nor did they do a proper drive to ensure that the air bubbles were out, thus my engine overheated the next day. I was so appalled that I spent $130+ for a coolant flush only to be given the most minute amount of coolant that was way below minimum putting me in a dangerous driving situation that could ruin my car. Dillion rectified the issue and topped up my car. I've been in 2 other times to get a squealing issue dealt with in my engine but I've been given a huge runaround and put out of $1500+ on unrelated services/fixes that didn't even fix the issue. The technician that did the coolant flush on the same day also did not even bother to try to fix the squealing and my car literally squealed as I pulled out of the driveway today (Aug 15) so it should have been easy to hear the noise even though they claimed they couldn't. The dirty paper foot mats they used were left in my car along with a weird black granular substance on my dash. I can't believe I was so overcharged for such subpar service and the issues constantly persist. I was especially upset as I feel like I've been taken advantage of during this pandemic when I can barely afford to pay my bills.

What was a grueling process for months has now been resolved in an hour due to efficient management. Was in for a recall notice. They took my car in at the stated time (early morning apt helped) and the service staff were very helpful and friendly. The seating area for waiting was incredibly comfortable with compliu food and coffee etc. They washed my car even for a service that wasn't making them any money. Very satisfied.

Another poor experience over the phone with Barrie VW today. I was transferred to parts, and the phone kept ringing, and called back approximately 15 minutes later and the parts guy answered who was EXTREMELY UNFRIENDLY AND RUDE. I haven't needed any parts in over a year, and my last experience was very unfriendly as well but I thought I'd give them another chance. I will not return to Barrie VW. Drive the extra time and just go to PFAFF VW in Newmarket where the service is amazing, both the work they do, and their customer service.

I've had some positive and negative experiences with Barrie VW over the years but I've noticed steady improvement there over the last little while. I went there to have a warranty issue addressed and found out that the problem was with a battery that had been installed on the car by a third party (and not under warranty). Barrie VW handled the issue without charging me for any labour, even going so far as to contact the third party on my behalf to see if they could broker the replacement somehow. Even though that didn't work out, they graciously spent their time to try to help me and even washed my car before returning it. My hat's off to the folks there in the service department. They went far beyond what they had to do and I'm very grateful.

Horrible experience. I wish it would let me give zero stars. They are complete clowns there. They have had my car for a week. In the first day our appointment was at 8am they didn’t even look at it till afternoon that’s when they called and said they lost the key to our car. They didn’t call us again that day we had to call them. They got the spare key Friday morning but again didn’t look at our car till Monday. It is now Wednesday and they still have our car. They will not return emails or phone calls from us. And they think replacing the key is the fix to this but that still leaves our car possible in the hands of one of their employees who would also have our address. They could easily steal our car after we get it back. They don’t seem to see the problem with this. How would they feel if I had a key to each of their cars and their address with just a promise that I will not steal it.

Took my car in for an oil change and fuel filter change. Service staff were nice and worked quickly, but service was very pricey. I did not expect this half-hour service to cost $350, but maybe I was foolish for not asking for a quote first. They also recommended wipers and both air filters, which would have cost me another $220. Definitely going to try a local shop next time.

Saved me From a major accident. Was travelling past Barrie, and my car was progressively making louder noises on deceleration. Looked them up on Google and stopped in for assistance. They were booked up, but the service adviser Roger Waithe, made the extra effort to come out personally to have a look. Upon discussion he suggested to bring in the car to check that the wheel lug nuts were tight. He pulled one of his mechanics out to check and we found the drivers side front tire dangerously loose. ( I had the brakes changed about 1 month ago at a different shop - and likely they did not re-torque). I was extremely thankful as the results would had severely damaged my car, and likely myself and others. They did not charge for anything. Thanks Roger!

They did not communicate with me, I had to call them. When I called for an appointment to fix the newly diagnosed issue, they told me they will call me in 3 weeks just to make an appointment. Again, I had to call them and beg for an appointment as my car was unsafe to drive. When I brought the car in for my appointment, they didn't know what the appointment was for, what work was to be done on the car and surprise surprise the part wasn't there. This dealership is unorganized, unhelpful and the people are so unfriendly. I asked for a complimentary oil change to be done as a way to make up for the absolute horrible service, and they couldn't even do that. If I ever need service ever again, it will not be with any of the dilawri Volkswagen's.

My girlfriend has a problem with her Volkswagen and the windows randomly go down all the time. The other day she got snow in her car and someone also stoled the stuff in her car. When she called here they said it would cost her 150$ just to look at it and than if they know what it is. She would have to pay the for the fixes. The 4 windows keep on coming down randomly a couple of hours after she locks it. The alarm system even shuts off. This is not fair to her. This didnt happen in an accident. Also she called Volkswagen customer support 4 times and she got hung up on. What customer support does this? You can make sure I will never own a car from Volkswagen and neither will my familly.

I booked an appointment with Barrie Volkswagen as my check engine light had come on. Just for the diagnosis it was $127.95 + Tax which I find a bit ridiculous considering I have an extended warranty on my vehicle. They fixed the faulty exhaust temp sensor for free, which was fine. But then I was quoted at 19k for A WHEEL BEARING REPLACEMENT. I was literally in shock, so I emailed their service consultant and he called back saying it was a typo and that the charge would be $550. I am honestly just shocked you could accidentally typo that amount, so I went and got my bearings replaced elsewhere for MUCH cheaper than they knocked it down to after the insane typo. It is hard to trust them after that. Another complaint, unfortunately, is that they kept my vehicle for 3 days, and every day I had to call and ask if my car was ready and they kept pushing the date. Then on the final day the service manager Roger called and asked why I hadn't gotten my car yet when literally no one told me it was ready.... when I was the one always calling to ask for updates. Would not recommend servicing your vehicle here. They clearly aren't very organized, the staff was honestly not that friendly and I was extremely misquoted.

If I could give Barrie VW a negative star, I would. I am in absolute disbelief at the disrespect I experienced. I went in looking for a Beetle (whom the receptionist had told there where none, but that she would have the new car sales manager come and meet with me.) He not only refused to meet with me, but the other two salesmen where bickering about not wanting to waste their time with us. Finally one of them comes over and starts talking to my father. I ask him to address me since I am the one purchasing the vehicle. He continued to address my father. As a woman, I felt belittles and disrespected. It shocked me and saddened that I was treated this way. My experience today served as a rude awakening to the changes that still need to be made in our society towards the treatment of women. Super terrible service all over the world Terrible and scary Barrie Volkswagen 24 days When I drove to FOOD BASIC in the parking lot on August 10, the car suddenly lost its air-conditioning, and the engine of the car was very hot. The meter also showed this! However, we smelled a strong burning smell, so we immediately notified Barrie Volkswagen the next day. The situation needs maintenance. In the morning, we had it towed to Barrie Volkswagen for maintenance. We bought a new Volkswagen JETTA 2019 about 39000KM. Change the oil on time and follow the instructions to maintain our Volkswagen, so they are all within the warranty period of the contract! Volkswagen The problem of JETTA 2019 is more serious than that of a second-hand car in good condition. Last year, the display screen of the car was dark and could not be turned on, and the remote control of the rear compartment could not be used! Now there is a scary situation where the air-conditioning is burning and heating up! Back home, Barrie Volkswagen called to explain that the air conditioner was broken because it was replaced with a new one during the warranty period and the car engine was not overheating! It would take a few days for the new air condition motor to come in. There was no news in the past 18 days, so we called Barrie Volkswagen and no one answered, left a message There was no response. After 23 days, it was finally connected on September 3rd. I asked about the condition of our car, they told me that it was ready to come and pick up! We asked if there is a car that can pick us up, and she said yes and that she would call us back later. We waited for a whole day! No news! We finally arrived at Barrie Volkswagen this morning on September 4th. The staff waiting for us to pick up the car explained that because they couldn’t find any problem with the engine, we needed to pay $150.22. In addition, when we pay by credit card , Deceive consumers to explain the car wash service, and the car has not been washed or the quality of the Barrie Volkswagen car wash is questionable. This kind of service attitude is really a loss of trust and disappointment in the VOLKSWAGEN brand! I hope Volkswagen Jetta 2019 all problem can fix, and great Volkswagen can strengthen customer service training, enhance communication, and enable customers to have good consumer experience. Absolute worst service I've ever received at any company. They literally scammed me out of money by charging me for way more hours of labour than was necessary. Then they held my car hostage by refusing to give it back without even discussing the price and why they charged what they did. On the phone they said one thing and it was very vague and in person they said another completely different story and also were being vague. The worst part is that over the last year I took my car into their service area 3 times as my check engine light was on and each time they said nothing was wrong. And now they charged me so much money? I feel robbed and cheated from these people and I hope that no one else experience this this. Great service! I bought my used Nissan Murano from here. Kyle and Kevin were very helpful and answered all my questions in purchasing during the early Covid 19 days. Even though they don't specialize in Nissan cars, they have been exceptional in service in my purchasing and helping out when I had a battery issue yesterday by replacing the battery at no charge. **please read whole review** I will be completely honest, I had a hard time at this dealership throughout the first 6 or so months owning my car. For the first while the staff kept changing and it was difficult to make a connection with anyone. I had some minor problems (nothing mechanical or technical) with my car that were frustrating to get anyone to look at, and being a first-time buyer it sullied the experience for me quite a bit to the point I even considered selling my brand new vehicle and taking a loss on it just because I didn't want to deal with it anymore. HOWEVER, over the year that I've owned my car, the dealership really seems to have settled into a great team. Even though I didn't have the best experience up to this point I felt it necessary to give credit where credit is due, as so many people have helped me along the way that I feel it necessary to call them out. I purchased my car from Jesse Der Kinderen, who was an absolute pleasure to deal with. He was only there for about 3 months at the time of my purchase (over a year ago now) but you wouldn’t know it because he was very knowledgeable and could answer almost all of my endless questions. It was very nice as a first time buyer to have someone that wasn't pushing me to buy, and was easy to communicate with. It was like buying a car from a friend which I quite enjoyed. I still enjoy saying hi and having a chat with him when I'm in the dealership. Steve Ward is an excellent service manager and goes above and beyond to make sure that customers are cared for and that their needs are reasonably met. Even if you don't have an issue to deal with he's still a great guy, always asking people how they are doing ,etc. He makes himself available and easily accessible which, combined with being very approachable and extremely hard-working, makes him an excellent representative of the dealership. Shayne Weatherby is very skilled in his work and is a pleasure to deal with. I had an issue where I needed a headliner replacement and he did the job flawlessly and I couldn't be happier. Every time I've dealt with him he has a smile on his face and just looks genuinely happy to be doing what he's doing. Along with the other staff at this dealership, it's quite obvious he absolutely loves the brand and cars in general and is enthusiastic in everything he does. Roger Waithe is also a pleasure to deal with, he's very professional and clearly knows what he's doing. I've dealt with him a few times during services when picking up and dropping off my car and he always listens to all my concerns and makes sure to explain the work orders to me when I leave. Dillon Gibson is also great to deal with. He has no problem breaking down services to explain exactly what is going to be done, where the parts are coming from, why certain parts are being used (showcased by him explaining the fancy oil that my car needs that I had never even heard of) and I have never once walked away feeling confused or "in the dark" about what is being done to my vehicle. On top of that he's just generally got a good sense of humour and is great to have a chat with if you have the time. There are also some staff that I have dealt with very briefly (in conversation or in passing) such as Tony, Russell Horne, Brett Lesli and Ian Harlock, who even though I haven't spoken to very often have always been polite, professional, and a pleasure to speak with. There are many other staff members who I haven't encountered yet, but surely will in the future and I'm sure they will meet the same expectations that have been built by the members I have dealt with already. After all is said and done, I love my car SO much, I always have, and I'm very excited to see what the future holds with this dealership and my vehicle.

Good experience. Sales people are good and service people only fix what is needed. I can also say, since the new ownership took over this place is the best dealership of any brand to deal with in Barrie. It's simply done right! As a little update, there have been some changes happening at Barrie VW over the past year or so, and it's a positive. The new service Manager, Steve Ward has taken a hands on approach in organizing and delivering quality service, and its evident. Nice job Steve, greatly appreciated from a customers perspective. What I've experienced personally and from overhearing conversations with other customers, Steve steps up to the plate and acknowledges when a mistake or deficiency is the responsibility of the dealership, and makes corrections. Warranty over now and transmission burnt out in a four year old Golf. Cost? $8,000. for the part plus labour. Called Volkswagen every day for three days and apparently business is booming so no return call. Manager was "chatting with a sales rep". Too busy to take a call. Trust is imperative in any car business and this is inexcusable. Called VW Canada, we will see what happens. Following reply below no call or email three weeks.

The dealership as a whole was 5 stars up until a few months ago when there was a change in management & Kevin Campbell started as General Manager. First off bringing him to Barrie VW was Dilawri’s biggest mistake. ANYWAYS I’m still rating the dealership 5 stars only because the little amount of staff members that are still there since the change are all 10/10 employees! Barrie VW has lost over 10 amazing employees since Kevin started, including 4 department managers. The current sales team is INCREDIBLE, they are all knowledgeable about the vehicles & will bend over backswards to make sure your purchasing experience is smooth sailing. The New car manager Jesse Der Kinderen & Used car manager James Barrett are both amazing & will do anything in their power to accommodate any issues & concerns. Along with great techs, Elliott the senior Finance manager & Mike & Devon in parts who are all always more than happy to help. These staff members all work closely & help each other become successful & make the dealership a great environment to be in. These employees are the only reason I would recommend shopping at Barrie VW! I hope this work family doesn’t get split up any further due to poor management. It would be a shame to lose ALL of Volkswagen’s employees over one inconsiderate & disrespectful general manager Kevin Campbell.

24/4/19 So to correct my original post. My parents delt with Audi which was part of this group but no longer is. So confusion happened there. The service manager followed up with me on this issue and passed it along to Audi which I didn't hear from. So kudos to vw Barrie for their followup Do not deal with Audi Barrie. Drive south to get the service you need and followup care. My almost 80 year old mother got a Audi Q5 years ago in the recall years. They were happy to take her money, but any help in follow up with service was about using up the credit from VW. The engine light has been on for so long and they were unable to fix it. Now she has received her money from volkswagen and signed off on it. The engine light is still on and now apparently it is without warranty. They will not work with you on getting the help you need, and it is of my opinion they took advantage of someone that would not be a squeeky wheel. Really they don't deserve 2 stars

As a lifelong Volkswagen owner, I have brought several cars to Barrie VW over the years, and I will continue to. I have mostly been very satisfied with every aspect of the work they do and their customer service. Recently, I had an issue that I brought to their attention after I picked up my Jetta from a large list of work that was done.....a large crack in my windshield that was not there at the time that I brought it in. I reached out to the General Manager and Service Manager (David Henderson) with a detailed email account about my concern and - expecting a lengthy disagreement and denial back and forth - I was pleasantly surprised that I not only got an immediate response, but Dave actually suggested why this may have been their fault, along with an offer to fix it at no cost to me. And, less than a week 1/2 later, I have my car back and a brand new windshield. No service is perfect and things happen from time to time. I understand and accept that. What makes this story extraordinary is that I have come to expect when I have a customer service or product issue that there will be a denial, there will be deflection, there will be avoided phone calls and emails, and the resolution process - when there is one - will only come after an extended period of time and me threatening to never use that service again. Not the case this time, and for that, I will most certainly be a lifelong customer of Barrie Volkswagen. Kudos to you Dave Henderson, and also to you, Roger Waithe. Integrity and professionalism.

Went to this dealership for the first time to get a diag, coolant leak fixed and a few bulbs replaced. Other than the leak, car was running fine. Was told on the phone I would be paying "$1500-$1600". When I got there, the bill turns out to be $1744. As soon as I turn on car, the check engine light turns on and gives me an intake manifold code that was not there before i gave my car to them. Other than scanning my car they have done nothing else to resolve the issue. One would expect such an expensive charging place to service properly. Horrible experience.

You would think I would be approached by a salesman while I stood around looking at cars. 30 minutes..., Not even greeted Try #2 Service end..., What can I say? I've been extremely patient with these guys..., I had warranty work that needed to be done. Only because of my consistent follow up did they finally order my parts (4 weeks of waiting). Now waiting for an update that I asked for an hour ago(as a note: I was told I would get an update right away). It's a good thing these guys are the only vw dealership in Barrie. I still might go somewhere else in the future. To add to this, I witnessed a lady who waited for parts for 30 minutes and ended up leaving as no one came to help her. I am not a whiner, but I need to raise these issues, because if I don't, then nothing may be done. I hope you guys pull up your socks..., For now, approach with caution. If I had known I would be awaiting this long, I would have rented a car to go about my day. Instead I'm stuck waiting on stand by.

I can relate with V Lee here. Maybe it's different if you buy a new vehicle from them but my used car buying experience has been brutal. Within first week I report a sound which they are willing to check into. Book service appointment and then told when I show up that my car can't go into the shop without manager approval. Would it not make sense to get that approval when I called to make the appointment the week before? I was asked the make of the vehicle when I called. Well that manager isn't around and end up waiting a couple hours before it can go in. Then told that same missing manager would have to okay whether they will cover the repairs. Hear nothing for a week and then I have to call back to see if they will approve the repairs (I shouldn't have to chase them for these answers). "Oh I haven't heard back from him" well it's been a week check. Finally get the car in for the repair a week after that. They have the car all day and I don't get a call back. I have to call again in late afternoon. "I don't think it's done yet" I'm told but they have had the car since 8am. I get a call back a couple hours later stating they mis-diagnosed the issue and would need to continue the next day so I leave the car. Nothing all day the next day until I call 1 hour before close still not finished. Hour later call back and told it's fixed. I pickup the vehicle and as soon as I drive off the lot the sound is still there. Call the acting service manager and he says they know the issue and will fix it but I will get a call back Monday with time for repair on Tuesday or Wednesday with a loaner car. It's now Wednesday and I have had to call them myself and still no set time for the fix. No one in this dealership takes ownership of tasks. Whether it's to call a customer back to say we are looking for your missing key or we are still trying to get confirmation from the manager that the repair is covered or just calling back when you say you will call back and "Get it Fixed for You". If they had told me from the start "we don't care about your non VW vehicle you bought from us take it elsewhere" I would have been upset but easier to take then getting the run around from everyone. Update- Service Manager called and car goes in this week for another assessment. Turns out it was a caliper that was causing the sound. Ended up taking my car in for another 3 days to fix the caliper. They did give a loaner car during the process. My wife was told during the return of the vehicle that she was to return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel as it was given with. Nice timing Pamela when it's being returned. Problem is gone now which is great. I think the weak link in the this dealership is the communication with clients and the assigned service advisers attitude.

Swift experience with Keane and James at Barrie Volkswagen. Keane, the pre-owned Sales manager was super kind to speak to me well past 8pm on the day that I unfortunately had an engine failure. Within 24 hours, he set me up with James, my new sales person, came up with a game plan to trade in my old vehicle. Within a week, my paperwork went through financing approval, old car started its journey to get fixed and further to find a new home and these gentlemen got me tagged to another pre-owned vehicle, much newer with barely any clicks on it. Once financing went through, they got me a loaner car as they flew through the procedure of getting my new car prepped for delivery. James came in on his day off to make sure delivery went through smoothly. Even after delivery, the team was extremely helpful in rectifying a couple issues I had with the new car. Paul from financing managed paperwork well too. This is the second vehicle I have financed with Barrie Volkswagen, first was with Jesse, the current dealership manager. That too was an excellent experience. Although there is a reasonable span of time I need to pay off the new car, I sure will come back some day for a third one.

Went to VW Barrie to get a new VW Beetle convertible I tried to trade in my car but unfortunately I didn’t get approve which is fine but the way I was treated isn’t acceptable. Since I didn’t get approved I went to get my ownership back then I get a call from manager says did anyone offer you a deal on you’re car for trade in I said yes for $10,000 and he said don’t take that deal yet so I canceled cause he said he will help that he wants my business so I gave him 2 days like he asked and the finance manager did ask the same thing when I went to see the dealership ship for the first time on July 31st. They said they will get back in 2 days come back to us then will give u a decision didn’t respond at all or keep me in the loop so I went and checked they said we still working on it we gonna try in house financing cause we really wanted you to have the car give us 2 to 3 more days which I did then no nothing no communication as to where the application process is nor they bothered to keep me informed they chose to ignore me made me wait for A week and a half and to be told no. I lost out on a $10,000 dollar deal on my car because they chose to neglect a future customer and they also treated my best friends boyfriend like dirt when he bought his Jetta at the same dealership. The Finance manager and the GM is giving VW Barrie a bad name and Dilawri Group a bad representation. The only truly genuinely kind and nice person to me this whole ordeal was the receptionist Sandra. VW owner if you want to have continued success in the Barrie area I suggest you do major overhaul in you’re management team cause they have no compassion for customer service what’s so ever. The person I suggest to replace the GM is the receptionist Sandra as she embody great customer service and great empathy that should be the one representing you’re company. I felt cheated and when I backed out of that deal from another dealership because VW GM said we want you’re business give us another chance let me work on this so I lost out $10,000 and I had to pay a $500 fee for backing out on the other deal so I deserve some sort of compensation don’t you VW owner? I'm having a horrible experience with this dealership. I went in to purchase a vehicle 5 weeks ago, I gave a 500 deposit the day I went in. Which was supposed to be refunded the day I picked up the car. The day I picked up the car, it wasn't detailed, the license plate mounts were not with the vehicle, the windshield washer fluid jug didn't even hold fluid. I wasted a WHOLE jug on my DRIVEWAY. There is a rattle in the front end. AND an oil leak. That being said. It took two weeks for them to take my car in to get serviced. And I STILL have not received my refund from my deposit! And no one can give me a straight answer. The sales manager didn't even know I was getting a refund when I asked him! The lack of communication from employees to employees, and employees to customer is very unsatisfying. I'm VERY unsatisfied. I've NEVER EVER in my life had such a head ache and felt such disappointment from a professional dealership.

My name is Amninder Singh. I purchased a car from you in August and the dealership stripped the drain plug for the oil so when we took in to get the first oil change, the garage we took it to told us about the problem. We called the dealership and Spencer in service was extremely disrespectful. He spoke down at me and told me that it was the garage's fault, not theirs. He said we could tow it there and they would look at it but he insisted that it wasn't their fault. Which means that we would still have to pay anyway (for something that was obviously not my fault) I've had problems with this dealership when I purchased the car so this doesn't surprise me. They are very uneducated about cars and just don't care about their customers. Again, I've never been treated so horribly by a car dealership as I have by this one. It's ridiculous. And I'm going to damn well make sure as many people as possible know about this. Btw they purposely didn't answer the phone until right before they closed for the weekend because they didn't want to have to deal with it.

Came in to solve a very common issue, a fuse had blown in the accessory socket so the power outlets in my Volkswagen weren't working. A fuse costs $1.30 itself, and the job takes around 5 min to complete with very minimal professional technique. I brought my car in because I didn't know where to locate the fuse, which is behind a panel. I got charged $79.41 for this!! For a fuse that costs $1.30 and a 5 minute job. The maximum this should be costing is a fair $20, considering how common it is to blow a fuse (an employee even admitted, saying that as soon as a coin slips in the outlet, there goes the fuse!) and also considering how easy of a fix this is. The supervisor said that is their rate and there's nothing that he can do about it. Understandable for charging a flat hourly labour rate, but to charge that much for a simple 5 minute job? That's like asking someone to make you a coffee the way you like it and getting charged $70 for their "labour". This exact issue has happened to me in the past as well - where I brought my vehicle to my original dealership before I moved to the Barrie area, and they charged me absolutely nothing, not even a bill to cover the cost of the fuse. If I knew that they would've ripped me off, I would've done the panel research myself to see where the fuse is located or simply taken my car to the previous dealership. I only booked the appointment with Barrie Volkswagen because I paid nothing for the job at the other Volkswagen dealership, so I obviously got the impression that this is a free fix on an issue that is very very common. Never will I recommend Barrie Volkswagen to anyone.

Waited 2 weeks for an appointment, night before the appointment they left a message to say it was getting cancelled because their diagnostic machine went down and that the next available appointment was another 2 weeks away. I had a great experience purchasing my vechicle back in August so when I received this type of service I was very turned off & disappointed. It was either in September or October, I had a crack on my windshield & went to the body shop to ask if I can get an estimated price of how much it would cost to fix this crack. Mar 26/21 6:30 AM Heavy rain in the morning. 5 min into the drive I see the passenger side wiper getting out of sync with the driver side one and than going down and not coming back up. The driver side continues in high speed. 7:00 AM arriving at work I check the wiper arm and it is freely moving. Which tells me a connecting point must have come loose. I am checking the website and it indicates that VW Barrie opens at 7:30 am. 7:30 AM at 7:30 am I am calling in, following the instructions to get a service appointment. Nobody is picking up. 7:50 AM after 8 call ins I have someone on the line that explains that there is nobody here to help and that the Service adviser and Service Manager should be here around 9 am. I asked the person to have one of them call me back. I asked when he would think I could accept a call back and the answer was between 9 and 10 am. 10:02 AM did not receive a call. So I am calling again. I explained my situation to several people I did get transferred to, that my Passenger side wiper stopped working and that I would like someone to look at it since I need the car for the weekend. And that I am concerned that it is related to the repair that was done 4 weeks earlier by VW Barrie when the wiper arms had to be removed. The answer and direction was that there is no appointment available till Monday. I asked to speak to the Service Mgr., he is not available was the reply. I can come and drop of the car and if we have time we can look at it, we have no curtesy car available for you and you can not sit and wait in the lounge so please make sure you have transportation available, we have to follow Covid protocol. I still expressed that the problem should be an easy fix since the root cause should be related to the repair that was done earlier. I should not accuse VW Barrie of wrong doing till the problem has been diagnosed and I would have to pay for the diagnoses. I was absolutely not happy with that response. I again requested to speak to the Service Mgr. or GM. After being transferred several times the Service Mgr. answered the call. I explained the whole situation with the wiper performance, the repair work that was done and that I would like to come by to have it looked after to determine the root cause so we can talk about facts. He also reiterated that the problem needed to be diagnosed and that I should not imply that it is their fault. So I replied, let me come by, you look at it and than we can talk. You can not be here without an appointment was the answer. So please give me an appointment and I will be there right now it only will take a few minutes. Can not be done, we are booked and we have to follow Covid protocol. I requested to speak to the GM, he is not available and he will tell you the same was the reply. That conversation lasted 17 minutes. 10:21 AM I am calling another VW Service provider. I explain the situation with my wiper miss function and that I would like to have that looked at. The response was, sorry I am not sure if we can squeeze you in but we will have a curtesy car available if needed, If you come by right now and we will see if wee can look at it quickly. 11:00 AM I am driving into the service door, an adviser comes and askes if I am the gentleman with the wiper issue to which I replied, I am. He moves the wiper and response that it appears that the screw is loose on the shaft that is driving the passenger wiper. I gave him the key he drove the car to the back. 10 min later he returns and confirmed that the screw was loose and they tightened it and its all good to go. I explained that the wipers were worked on a few weeks ago to which he replied they just did not tighten it well enough. I asked for the work order and the bill and he replied it is $0. I told him that I really appreciate their service commitment and that they earned an A+ for their effort and response. It is hard to believe the difference in Customer service you can get. sorry, I am getting cut off. I had some suggestions to follow.

Cut me off mid-sentence, made it quite clear that payment was far more important than service.. Purchased my first car recently from this location, the team was really helpful throughout the process while in person. They were able to give me a good price and were able to provide explanations for all questions and concerns that were brought up. I did find that online/remote communication was not as strong as I expected it to be, based on how supportive and clear they are while in person. The worst dealership ever! We bought a 2016 Jetta back in November 2020. The vehicle was sold certified but the certification was outsourced to someone else and was not done in house and the vehicle has had issues from day one. The GM Jesse and the service Manager Dillon are two faced and dishonest and have no clue or care in the world how their customers should be treated. Here is a rundown of our issues. They handed us a vehicle with outstanding recalls even though it was in their possession for months before we purchased it. How does a Volkswagen dealership hand you a Volkswagen with open recalls (btw, one of the recalls was open for over a year and was on the carfax report). The drivers side mirror turn signal was burnt from day one. They ordered the part and being the geniuses that they are they put it on a different Jetta that they were selling. They ordered another light and many weeks later, I called to ask about the light and they said it was now in. Keep in mind, I called them, they did not call me. When the light was replaced, it started to take on moisture inside the bulb and it was replaced and yet the same problem happened and was then told that is normal for LED lights! How the xxxx was it not taking on moisture before and ever since the shop replaced it, all of a sudden it is taking on moisture. They insist it is normal even though the service advisors who originally saw it told me they have never seen that before. That’s not even the worst of their sheer incompetence. The driver and passenger latches failed after 7 weeks (it may have even been less than 7 weeks) and the doors would not seal properly. How can a true certified car have this issue after such a short period of time? I replaced the latches and paid $650 dollars (btw, they replaced one of the latches twice as when I came to pick up my vehicle, the door would not open at all and they had to do it all over again...again, more incompetence). But the true slap in the face is that they damaged the drivers door during the latch replacement (the outer shell was pushed outwards which means that as they were working in that area, they pushed too hard and and ended up causing the outward damage. Of course, they denied it and said our video shows we did no such damage. I told them to pull up the original pics of when the vehicle was traded in before we purchased it to see if that was existing and of course, they did not because that will prove their guilt. When you bring in a vehicle, they never do a walk around like other dealerships do for the very reason that if they damage your vehicle they can always say we did not damage it and we as customers have no possible way to prove it. This is a underhanded move by a sleazy and underhanded dealership. It starts at the top with Jesse the GM and this dishonesty infects the entire dealership. The car even has rust bubbles forming after a month. Think about that, have you ever purchased a vehicle from a dealership and seen rust already forming after a month. That was probably a preexisting issue that they patched up poorly before selling us the vehicle. Again, this is a dealership that has no issue screwing over their customers. Do yourself a favour, avoid this dealership at all costs and go buy a vehicle from a dealership with honesty, integrity and customer appreciation. If I could rate this dealership and management a 0, that would be too high.

Worst service EVER!!! reputation in town is that they have horrible service and don't care about customer service and they certainly live up. Don't try to get a hold of anyone live because the receptionist is probably the rudest customer service person I have ever dealt with on the phone and only puts you through to voicemail. Wait time for warranty service work is 4-6 weeks. And when you finally get in to see you some rude man behind the counter named Alan is running around telling everyone that because of their errors earlier in the morning he has to clean up all the mistakes as he throws his clip board around. Pleasant as you leave your car in his hands. Biggest mistake we ever made was buying from this place. In a world where everyone is striving for customer service excellence Barrie Volkswagen is not... He was hospitable offering and showing me how to use the coffee machine and something to eat. He told me exactly what was wrong with my car and how much it would cost -after the diagnosis was done. My experience was so good that I’m going to come here to service my car from now on when I come to visit my daughter and I live near Sarnia, Ontario. My ignition on a 2013 Jetta was broken and covered under warranty because it was a known issue. When removing the ignition they broke the key right out of the key fob. This was quoted as costing more than $300 to replace. Volkswagen’s regional manager decided they should not cover it because it is my fault the tech broke the key. I should have brought my car in earlier to have the warranty work done. They broke the key fixing a problem they knew required warranty coverage. I have owned 2 volkswagens and this will be my last.

Beware of a DISHONEST service centre. I had a simple problem just before my car was out of warranty. It was actually an issue that had been serviced previously by the shop. When I showed up for my appointment I was told there must have been a mistake because I wasn’t on the list. Brand new Atlas, engine light comes on. Thinking it will be a simple fix bring the car in, 54 days later they still have our car and won’t commit to when it will be fixed. Not one phone call from the service representative to provide updates and treats us as if we’re an inconvenience when we call to get a status update. Let’s just start by saying this was the worst experience ever. We went in wanting to trade in our truck which we knew would have a lien on it as it was pretty much brand new, they were busy that day as it was a Saturday so we just sat and waited for the guy to give us a trade in value for our truck which we got the following Monday as he wanted to give us the most possible which we were definitely fine with. Anyways we get all the numbers done and all just to be told that the emission issue on it had to be dealt with, okay no big deal they would keep the car for a little while longer and they also gave us a loner. We contacted our sales representative daily to see how it was going (Jesse is very friendly and knows what he is doing) He did not know much as it was out of his hands and now for service to do their job, which they clearly didn’t as we waited 2 weeks just to be told (after calling all the time) that the service guy in charge of our car quit or was fired so the car was left alone. We had to speak to the manager to get things going which they finally did after another week. Just to say that 3 weeks later we got our car, just to find a vibration on the front end a few days later, okay things happen so they picked it up and gave us another loner. We get the car back a few days later and everything is fine. About a week and a half after getting the car we get a call from Elliot their finance guy and tells us that we still owe them money, okay what for, he said for licensing and the rest of the down payment as they thought we had paid more but turns out it was some other guy’s deposit. (Weird that they wouldn’t contact him to give it back) Now when you say licensing, you mean what you said you would pay? Denies it of course, but we made it clear that they had said they would pay the licensing fee and that we would only pay the rest of the down payment. All and all, I do not recommend buying a car from them and I am not the only one as I looked at the reviews after (that is my fault). Drive to Orillia or anywhere else and have them bring the car to you so you get good and honest service and probably don’t have to call 3x a day just to get to the right person or be on hold for over an hour just to hear or sorry he just stepped out can I send you to his voicemail. STAY AWAY FROM BARRIE VOLKSWAGEN TO SAVE YOURSELVES!!!

This place is worse than bad.. It only got one star because I had to in order to post...should be a zero. My son booked his 2016 Golf into service for its 30,000k warrantee check and was given a 9:30am appointment time. I took the car in for him since he was unable to make time. Upon my arrival I was told by the service rep. Roger that I was looking at a 3-5 hour wait to get the job in the shop. When I pointed out that I was there for my 9:30 appointment he informed me that my appointment was to talk to a service advisor not to get service performed.. After I picked up my jaw from the floor I bid him a fond farewell and departed.. Speaking to the General Manager Tod Shivers via phone several hours later I was told that they were very busy due to snow tire drive ups and when asked if my confirmed appointment didn't give me a bit of an advantage over drive ins he basically said no since they were trying to please all their customers. Well Tod, You have one less customer to please as a result of your poor business practice. I would never recommend this outfit to anyone.

Had to drive there to check on my vehicle status and was told it would be 8 days before they could look at the problem because I had no appointment (this was after they had it for a day and a half). Guess I will never buy another VW if it takes more than a week to get service at the "Dealer".

Roger I believe his name was, was so kind and asked me to pop in this morning and he would take a look at it to see if he could fix it quickly before I head to work. I went in to get an oil change and ended up paying $236. It seemed incredible overpriced considering that last year I had the same service done in my car at this same location and paid $126. I called and tried to explain my situation but it seemed really hard to get a solution or a valid explanation so I had to go in on my only day off just to be told that labour and parts went up and that's why the price difference. I had previously called the volkswagen in Toronto and was given a quote for an oil change which would cost $126. I showed this quote at the Barrie dealership and they said every franchise charges differently even though it's the same company, then they showed me a price chart online which showed that my car's oil change with the current mileage would cost around $157 (which is still not what I paid) then I argued again about the fact that I didn't get the cheaper price and was told again it changes depending on the franchise, so pretty much the information offered online is fake because no matter what you see in the volkswagen website, every franchise can charge whatever they want. Then I was told that the Volkswagen in Toronto probably has apprentices doing oil changes and in the Barrie volkswagen they have "experienced people doing that". At the end I don't know which excuse from the 5 I was given is the real reason why the 90% increasement but one thing for sure I WILL AVOID GOING BACK TO THIS DEALERSHIP and I won't be recommending this place to anyone I know.

I do not recommend this dealership at all. My husband and I own two VW’s. We love them. However any time we have had to deal with this place it’s been nothing short of a nightmare. The past few months alone have been very disappointing. We had to drop one of our cars off for maintenance, I made the appointment on the phone, requested the shuttle for my husband as he would be dropping the vehicle off on his way to work. I was told they don’t have the shuttle running currently but if within 10km radius they would send him via UBER and have him picked up via UBER once the car was ready. We discussed the time and I even while on the phone goggled the distance to his work from the dealership. My husband shows up and was told they don’t offer any UBER services and they have no idea why that would have been mentioned!!! Now stranded at the dealership, and late for work he finally gets a drive by a manager. Our current issue is our Jetta was dropped off at Assured (where this dealership has the VW Rust Warranty work done) August 30th, it’s now September 27th. No one has called us to update us regarding the status of our car and the work being done. I have followed up with Assured who informs me that they too are having a hard time getting in touch with the dealership. I have called, I have emailed, I have FB messaged and I do not get anywhere, no one replies to me or returns my calls. I spoke with VW Canada today who informs me this particular dealership is short staffed. Personally I don’t care, don’t take on work if you can’t handle it. I can understand 2 weeks without a car, but a month this week is unacceptable. We are losing out on pay because my husband has to leave work early everyday to pick our daughter up, the stress and extreme inconvenience this has caused is ridiculous. A month is far too long without the 2nd car we rely on. I appreciate that it’s warranty work, but I do not understand the complete lack of Customer Care in this situation.

A/C not working on a 2015 VW Golf GTI. UPDATED REVIEW - please read the original review below. As noted below I contacted VW Barrie and VW Canada to no effect - but when I posted a Google review I had a call within 2 days! The Manager reached out and offered to fix the issue and provide a loaner while they sorted it out. It took quite some time - but the dealership did re-diagnose a failed AC compressor and the repair was covered in the extended warranty. So I have revised my review - but still not happy I had to do all this. MY ORIGINAL REVIEW I am not happy with the service provided – and I do not recommend this dealership. Background • I purchased my VW Golf GTI in August 2014 with the VW 5 Star Protection package for 120,000 km or 10 years at an additional cost of $2,000. • I have maintained a perfect service record at VW Oakville since the purchase. • Recently I noticed that the AC was not working (the first hot weather of the Spring 2021). • As I have recently moved to Collingwood, I called VW Barrie as the closest dealer and was promptly given an appointment for the next day, May 18. • On arrival, I was advised there would be a $191 + tax fee to ‘diagnose and report’. I was not advised of this fee when booking the appointment and, having driven an hour to get there, it was a bit late to tell me about this (FYI the equivalent fee at another VW dealership is $135!!) • I decided to proceed on the understanding that the fee would be rebated if an issue was found. • As the AC system is clearly covered under the 5 Star Plan, I assumed that if it was not working they would have to fix it and a claim would be made – so the fee was not an issue. Results • After a wait, I was advised the car was ready. The Service Advisor advised that the AC was indeed not working when I delivered the car but they were not able to find a leak. As a result, they charged the AC system, added a dye and asked me to monitor the system. • BUT – as they could not find the cause of the problem, I would have to pay the ‘diagnose and report’ fee (and an environmental charge of $4.99 plus tax). • When we discussed this and I questioned why, I was also advised that if the system leaked/failed in the monitoring period (undefined), I would have to pay another ‘diagnose and report’ fee of $191 to see what the issue was – and the fee I paid for this visit would never be recoverable. • In addition, because they could not find the cause of the leak, there was no basis on which to file a warranty claim! My Issue – and why I have a problem with this dealership • I own a car and I have an extended Protection Plan. • The dealership agreed that the AC was not working (evidenced by the fact that they charged the system and noted that the operation was ‘now normal’) – • The AC system is something that is covered under the Protection Plan. • BUT because the dealer was not able to find cause of the problem, I had to pay the ‘diagnose and report’ fee. (They also noted that I have not been charged to Charge the AC system.) • In all my years of car ownership, I have never had an AC system randomly discharge! In summary • I found an issue covered by warranty – they agreed but could not find the cause – no claim was filed - and I had to pay the service fee! Follow up I informed VW Barrie and VW Canada over a week ago and either has acknowledged my concerns or followed up in any way.

Just recently purchased a Tiguan, I'll mention that this review has nothing to do with the vehicle, I love the car I purchased and don't regret it. I wish I had purchased it from a different dealership. The communication between sales and finance is awful. I had to constantly reach out to get any information. As a customer, that is extremely frustrating. When you're told someone will contact you Tuesday and two days go by and you're forced to call them. That scenario not only happened to me once, but three times. That is not how a business should be run. After I received my vehicle I had to bring the vehicle back twice. First time for the tint, which wasn't added on my front windows. Second, which was completely avoidable, they didn't include the key to take off my wheel locks. The last straw for me with this dealership was the amount I signed off on my financing was not the amount that came out of my account. Save yourself the hassle and purchase a VW somewhere else.

I recently too the car i purchased there in mid November for an oil change and because the engine light came on. They did the work and kept the car for almost a week. But when I picked up the car there was no sticker letting me know when my next oil change was due. The oil change was more expensive than my garage. Plus I’m a little suspect that the turbo broke after only having it two months. Additionally when I picked up the car the rear drivers side tire was flat. The guy said it was because it was cold, which is an excuse I don’t buy seeing as the tires themselves are only 2 months old and supposedly (as they said) top of the line winter tires. They filled it with air but still I’m sure I’ll be having to have that tire replaced sooner rather than later.

If it were possible to give 0 stars I would. The experience of buying my car was absolutely horrible and the "salesman" was a nightmare to work with and made buying my car nothing but a stressful experience. He refused to communicate with me and would only speak with my Fiance. I had to buy my car early in the pandemic and if I hadn't needed a car desperately I would have gone elsewhere. NOW come to find, the rims that they gave me for winters do not even fit my car and I find that the tires i have on are over 6 years old and shouldnt have even passed the safety. The rudeness and lack of communication are one thing but to disregard safety and give the complete incorrect rims for the car is something else. Overall this dealership has shown they do not care whatsoever about safety or customer service and just see people as walking dollar bills instead of actual human beings.. I wouldn't even recommend this dealer to my worst enemy.

Ive never been to their store as I have only talked to them over the phone. I'm out of province trying to buy a used vehicle they have. But given the way I've been treated over the phone I wouldn't rate their customer service as being good. I've called 3 days in a row to be told that they would be getting me a quote right away. Everytime I call they have been very courteous on the phone but I do not receive the promised e-mail with the quote. I called back the second day to confirm my email address was right (which it was) and was told the quote would be sent out shortly. On the third day against my better judgement I called again and was given the same empty promise. I've given up attempting to buy the vehicle from them. Pretty bad when a company can't fake enough customer service to take your money.

I had my TDI jetta in for the final emission modification back in August (6 weeks ago) once the modification was completed I was to receive my final payment from the emissions settlement which is a fair chunk of cash. After calling VW Canada 6 weeks later, I was told the dealership hadn’t closed the work order from 6 weeks ago. I tried calling the GM Todd Shivers multiple times leaving voicemails that were never returned. Finally I was transferred to the service manager Chad. Within a few hours Chad resolved the issues. Thanks Chad for the swift, courteous and professional help ( 5 stars) A special thanks to Todd Shivers, you get no stars for not even bothering to return my calls. Great customer service buddy! I see another post that suggests the individual contacts you directly to resolve their issues. That’s clearly a typo... Just to confirm I was told Todd was in a meeting for one call and a conference call for another call and I cannot recall what the 3rd reason was that Todd couldn’t take my call. At no point did the receptionist indicate that Todd wasn’t in the building. The calls were made during the first week of October. Maybe try owning up to your mistake but don’t lie about it.

I called their today because my car transmission was acting up so they told me over the phone what to do turn the car off and restart it ,that worked. then when i went out again and it acted up again. i decided to drive it over their to show them what my vehicle was doing so they have a better understanding and they could see what was going on. When i got their they wouldn't even give me the time of day . they wouldn't even come outside and let them show me what was wrong with my car . Due to covid they dont go on test drives with customers which totally understand. They told they see me Wednesday for my appointment, they also told me i couldn't be in the building with out an appointment which i understand. The fact they wouldn't even come outside and look at my car to let me show them what was going on is complete laziness of the service advisors . So i called Alliston VW and they were more than happy to accommodate me they took a quick look at my car and told me something is wrong with and its safe to drive and i have an appointment next week to get it fixed. I will be boycotting Barrie VW and giving my business to Alliston VW.

We just purchased a Atlas Sport Crossover from Barrie Volkswagen and received delivery last week. Buying a new car can be very daunting with all of the different makes and models out there. Nishant Gupta was our sales representative. He made our purchase an easy decision. Unlike other dealerships where you must have the sales associate accompany you on a test drive, we were told to take the car out ourselves and to take our time. Stop and look over all of the features. Really get to know the vehicle. There was no pressure once we were back. We were able to go home and decide which vehicle was right for us. There were no annoying calls like from other places. Needless to say, we purchased the Atlas Sport Crossover. We had still had a few questions regarding some of the bells and whistles that were in our car. We contacted Nishant. He took time out of his day off to come to our house and go over all of the things we weren't sure about. I would definitely recommend Barrie Volkswagen and DEFINITELY ask for Nishant Gupta. Beware buying a "Certified Pre Owned" vehicle from this dealership. I purchased a vehicle from this dealer, and made sure when I was negotiating the deal, that I was buying a CPO car. I was informed that any blemishes the vehicle had would be repaired, all maintenance would be brought up to date, and it would have to pass a rigorous 112 point inspection. Upon delivery, it seems that none of this reconditioning work was actually done. They refused to let me see a copy of this "CPO checklist", and could not provide me with any documentation that my car did in fact meet CPO criteria. Not sure how they can call a car with severely weather-cracked tires, curbed wheels, and paint transfer, a "reconditioned vehicle" (see pictures below). When I asked the used car sales manager, Adam, why my car was delivered to me in such condition, he told me that my sales person must have lied to me, as "we never CPO's TDI's" (despite my bill of sale indicating otherwise) , and that "there was no money in my deal". Thanks Barrie Volkswagen!

We purchased a used vehicle from Volkswagen Barrie. We ended up waiting an entire MONTH before they had it ready for pick up. When we finally came to pick it up, we were surprise to see it was still dirty inside and there was an additional 15,000 kilometers on it!! No one said anything to us, we were just lucky to have noticed!! The used car managers response was that someone must have made an input error when listing and selling it to us and acted as if it was no big deal. We were not offered proper compensation or a sincere apology. We expressed how upset we were and requested to speak with the General Manager in hopes to fairly rectify the situation. We were informed that the GM was not in at the time and when they contacted him they stated that he was annoyed with the situation and did not want to deal with us because he was busy. We left unhappy and plan to contact OMVIC to proceed further with this. Needless to say we are EXTREMELY dissapointed with this dealership!! We would not recomend anyone to go here!!

Very unhappy with the dealership. 20 mins before picking up my new car i got a call saying it was not licensed properly, it had not been cleaned/ detailed and they had just tinted it earlier that day instead of a week when i put the deposit down on the car. not only was it a horrible delivery, I was in a rush to buy a car and asked my sales representative 3 times if the car had rear sensors which was one of my requirement, and was told that someone just turned them off,. I asked him to turn them on before driving away, and discovered that the car did not have it. however the Financial Service adviser was amazing! helped me out lots and kept me in the loop when going through the process. Went to dealership just browsing cars and had an awful experience. Was looking for used jettas in a certain price range and salesperson Chris completely ignored what I was looking for and pointed me in the direction of new vehicles that cost the most money. I would give no stars if it was an option, I went in for a tire change from summers to winters tires and they damaged my rear bumper, they didnt plan on telling me but when I found the damage and brought it to their attention they still denied the it until my tail light was found on the shop floor. I left the car with them to deal with the issue and I had to retire 4 more times each time with damage they have done. I went to pick it up for the last time and was treated with the most disrespect and I got harrassed by the General manager. I dont recommend bringing your car here at all. Just watching how they drive your car at night when they are closing for the day is a joke. Literally driving it like they stole it. My car was given to me with 2000 extra km and an empty tank.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I had an appointment for some warranty work. I booked an appointment 2 weeks in advance and took a day off work. Dealership didn’t get to my car that day and sent me home in a loaner (I live 1.5 hours away). I was called the next am and told my service wasn’t covered by warranty (faulty drainage was leaking water into my backseat - the car is a year old). I was even reprimanded by a service advisor for “driving my children around in this unsafe vehicle”. Then they proceeded to keep my vehicle for 9 days and not return any of my phone calls. I left messages for the service manager, the GM and even tried to go through VW Canada who did absolutely nothing. I had to send a friend in to reap havoc just to get my car back. They sent my car home full of mold and didn’t fix the leak. I bought my first VW here and have owned 5 others over the next 16 years. Wonderful customer care. Kudos, Barrie and VW Canada. I will not only never do business with your dealership again, but I will never buy another VW thanks to this wildly inappropriate and unprofessional display of customer appreciation.

Well where to start....My 2014 Volkswagen Passat was grounded 6 months ago for a TDI diesel issue. As much as this problem was Volkswagen Canada's concern and not the Barrie dealership's problem they were.. 1 : Understanding of the problem. 2 : Shared what info they had to help me. 3 : Put me into a loaner as soon as possible, which was that day. 6 months later I took the offer Volkswagen gave me to buy back my vehicle, which was more then anywhere else I would get AND gave me a sizeable credit towards the new 2021 Jetta 1.4 highline , which I picked up today. Special thanks to the financial and sales staff. Thanks to Natalie in sales for tirelessly helping us find our car, and Paul for being so honest. Highly Recommend.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!! I bought my new car from this dealership only to find out that it had been preregistered to someone else, which was never disclosed to me at the time of purchase. This has caused me to lose 6 months of warranty on my car. I have tried to resolve this situation with the general manager Mr. Shivers, but he not only refuses to apologize or recognize wrong doing but doesn't even respond to phone calls or emails. The worst customer service post purchase I have ever received!!! I am now taking legal action. Since purchasing my car with Barrie VW in 2013 I have NOT had good luck with the customer service staff or management. From the sale of the car to any service work required on my car that eventually lead me to a different dealership. Having not been back to Barrie VW in a very long time, I had to contact them as I had some body work that was required on my car due to some prior work that had been done at their location. Wow, things had changed! From the smiles at the customer service desk (which were non-existent before) to the positive and wanting to help attitude with the Service Manager, Steve Ward. This repair was not an easy decision for Barrie VW as the car was a few years old. THIS is fantastic customer service simply because they took responsibility and stood behind their product. I don't live in the area any longer however will certainly shop at Barrie VW when looking for my next VW. GREAT JOB BARRIE VW, YOU'VE COME ALONG WAY!!

I have had nothing but terrible customer service and tried to reach out to Volkswagen Canada and was told that each dealership is a separate entity that the don't have control over. I have been in 3 times since purchasing this Passat and every time left with an issue. My last visit, they forgot to call to let me know car was done.. I drove over and doors were all locked... they went home early!!! Take my advice and avoid this dealership... I won't return and they won't get my money again!!!!

I’m only giving one star because I can’t give zero. I had a very bad experience at the service department recently - I was told I needed a $4,600 (plus tax) repair, which I declined, and was able to do the repair myself at home for $20. Furthermore, I was charged and paid for a “diagnosis” that was clearly wrong. To make matters worse, I have sent 2 emails to the General Manager of the dealership, providing them an opportunity to discuss my concerns, and completed the online survey request that was sent to me, and haven’t even had the decency/courtesy or a response. Very disappointed, and will definitely not return or recommend this dealership to anyone else.

I'm sure Volkswagen sells great cars and has fantastic service. I went there to charge my car as Google stated there was a fast charger there. I needed a charger.. and unfortunately "disabled by the owners" was the message received when I went to use it. I understand they might not have many people use their car charger and it's probably not a huge deal to most. But to me when some one said there is a service offered that wasn't there. It sets a flag for me maybe its my fault for listening to Google. Other than that the place looked clean and the cars looked to be in good condition

When I got there they did let me know they were really busy and running behind but absolutely no reason to make me wait over 3 hours. Took my TDI in for service with an issue that is known to VW Service - there’s been a VW tech bulletin issued about my problem. (Condensation in the intercooler) I have been informed by a tech at another dealership that this issue is being repaired with a kit of OE parts designed to eliminate the issue, under warranty, at their location. I explained all this to the service people at Barrie VW, only to be told my car didn’t have that problem, that it was probably something to do with fuel gelling or my fuel filter needing changed. This was definitely not the problem and I politely made that clear. They insisted that they changed the fuel filter and charged me $300, which of course did not fix my known and professionally diagnosed issue. When I picked up my car I was given a service record that indicated my car was equipped with an inadequately insulated intercooler kit and that the repair kit was available for a charge of nearly $1500. The record indicated that I had been informed of this and had opted not to have the repair done. None of which is true. I’ve called twice since then and left voicemail both times - neither call has been returned.

Untrustworthy and misleading. No transparency. My wife and i were the victims of deceptive and false representions of what we were told we would recieve upon signing and what the sales contract fine print indicated. Theres is little communication between levels of management. Very unconscionable behaviour. Please do not sign sales contract unless you have READ and SEE that all conditions indicated by the sales associate are in written form and signed. Head office Volkswagen explained to us, in their words "in this situation, this is a sales concern between yourself and the dealership, we dont own our authorized dealerships, we do not own barrie volkswagen and we would not have jurisdiction over the sales agreement that you may have agreed to here, what were trying to do is you know, kind of find out whats going on and relay feedback and try to get conversation going between you and the dealership, see if there anyway for them to assist you but we cannot force anything upon the dealership". Do not expect head office to step in and be of customer care contrary to their claims on their websites. Each individual dealership has the power to conduct their business in any way they choose, in our case, lying to our faces. Head office called me on 2 occasions to "regretfully inform me" they do not do anything in these situations and to deal with the branch of sale. Good luck they said. My cell phone number was blocked within 6 days of our first visit. I used family members phone to reach the dealership. During these 6 days however our contract was still open, the sales agreement was pending and we believed we were still purchasing this vehicle pending a small discount. All i wanted was either a price drop as promised by their manager or answers to why we were being treated in this way. We had signed a sales contract and loved the vehicle. We found out the same day from another associate immediately after signing and leaving the dealership via phone call that what we were just told by sales was false. Safe to say we have now disengaged with volkswagen and we have managed to have our contract reversed by the dealership. Thankfully this occured all before we drove this vehicle off the lot. This is our first and last time shopping for a Volkswagen. Head office is as useless as a screen door on a submarine. Also utterly disappointed and disillusioned in Barrie volkswagen. Thank you

Brought my 2017 Tiguan in for its annual inspection/oil change. My husband and I just moved to Barrie as he is a Canadian Armed Forces member. Being new to Ontario I also needed a front license plate installed as Nova Scotia did not require them. This information was given over the phone prior to booking the appointment over a week in advance. Fast forward to today, I brought my vehicle in for an 11:00 appointment and was told it would be done in 2 hours. At 1:00 I phoned for an update as I had another appointment elsewhere for 2:00pm. No one answered the phone so I left a message. By 1:45 I still had not received an update so I had to pay for a taxi to get to my other appointment. At 2:40 I called back and finally got ahold of the service department who said my vehicle would be ready in 20 minutes and a shuttle would be sent to pick me up. 1.5 hours later without any update or communication a shuttle arrived at my house. The reason given for the delay was they were waiting on the part for the license plate. I do not understand with over a weeks notice why this was not already in stock and if such a delay was anticipated why wasn't I contacted and made aware. To top things off I was told when booking that the licence plate would be "probably free or a minimal charge" and they charged me $94.47. The worst service I have ever had stemming from terrible communication.

Brought jetta here for oil change and some other diagnostic work. Took vehicle home after 3 hours only to find it leaking oil the next day (had not had any leaking issues before). Returned the following day to have them fix the leaking issue (a bad seal on the oil drain bolt) and waited from 9am until almost 12pm for them to fix it. Checked the next day and it was still leaking from the same location. I had booked $2,000+ of other work they had diagnosed but cancelled it all. If they can't even get the simplest work they do right there is no way I'd trust them with more serious work. Pathetic and embarrassing quality of service. Would recommend them to no one.

I just bought 2017 Golf R (demo 5000km on car) from Barrie Volkswagen. Into my 3rd week of owning it. I had 2 problems 1- the inflation kit solution leaked in the back where spare tire would be. 2- came up I need would change in 20 days. When I picked up car I set up for my first oil change and was told 10000km or an appointment that was set up 6 months later. So I was under impression it just had oil change. I emailed sales person I delt with and he replied back and said bring it in to service. My next available day i brought it in. Explain my situation and the checked history of car and no oil change was done. The service guy checked the leaked solution. I'm the end they did a oil change for me and setup to get a new inflation kit and carpet to replace. The following Monday I brought my car in and the replace the carpet and kit. Very satisfied with the purchase, service and help they did. Keep up the good work Barrie Volkswagen.

Took my vehicle in to get a ceiling leak fixed along with a back up camera that wasn’t working when I changed over to winter tires. Work couldn’t get done that day just the diagnostics . Got in the vehicle right after service to find my sunroof sunshade broken. The next week the day prior to my next appointment to get the leak and camera fixed. I looked back at the sunroof and was shocked at the water mark damage that had occurred since the appointment. The watermarks prior to service were mild and cleanable. Now they were of brown water, places I did not have leaks before, long drips. Dried leaves in stagnant water caused the brown colour. The sunroof hadn’t been opened in a year. (parked under a tree, leaves were visible on the roof of the vehicle falling into the frame edges of the sunroof) I told the service rep the damage that was caused at the last service.There was no recognition to what I said or an acknowledgement. I asked them to clean the headliner. They said they couldn’t clean the headliner and presented me with the quotes below for all the work. I was told at my last appointment that all the work to be done was warranty work. At this appointment I was told not all of it was warranty work. Back up camera <$400 - warranty Replacing sunroof drainage tubes $1000 -not warranty Replacing the headliner $900- not warranty Fixing the sunroof shade no quote yet - not warranty When I did tell the rep I didn’t brake the shade or cause the excess water damage, no response from the rep.

This review is for my recent experience with the service department and more specifically Roger. My car is new, 6000kms, but had an issue with the brake and rotor, where the brake was not contacting the rotor properly. I brought this issue in to VW who were happy to look at the issue and attempted as fix on it. After this initial fix did not work, they assessed the issue again and decided to replace the parts. An appointment was made, car was brought in and done by the agreed upon time. This experience was very smooth and what keeps a customer coming back.

Buyer beware! This place is a joke. I bought a used car almost a month ago. To start off, no one returns phone calls, and once the car is sold, they don’t care! Communication here is terrible. Keep in mind that my car was still under 30 day full warranty. I took it in for a starting issue it was having, where it would crank for a longer period of time than normal. So first of all, no one would return my calls. I ended up going in and made an appointment for Monday at 8 to drop it off. I drop it off Monday and explain to the service guy what's going on and show him one of the videos I took of my car starting like that. He proceeds to ask how many times I've filled my car and where, and if it just started doing this. I told him that it has been happening since I got the car and I've filled it about 5-6 times now at different places. I then leave my car, don't hear a thing till about 4:30 in the afternoon, just for them to say that they found one of the issues and said it was my battery. They said they wanted to keep my car overnight to see if it was going to start up fine in the morning. I told them yes, even though I knew the battery wasn't the issue. The next day, I didn't hear anything from them, so I decided to call just before 5 and the lady said once again that the battery was the issue. She also said my car was ready to be picked up. I was kind of pissed off because it's like, really? I had to call you guys? They should have called me earlier in the day! My mom took me to go pick it up, I go to start it and it does the same thing I brought it in for. At this point, I was super pissed off because everyone at the dealership has terrible communication skills. The salesman I dealt with saw me and didn't even acknowledge my mom and I. I went back inside the service department and the lady said “back again?”. I told her “yes the problem I brought it in for is still the same nothing has changed”. She gave me a look, which I did not like at all. She then went and got the tech who was working on my car. He came out to my car with me and started it and thank god it did it when he started it. He said “yeah when I started your car the one day it just felt sluggish so that's why I replaced the battery, But I see what you're talking about now”. I also told him that multiple people believe the real issue is fuel or spark related (fuel pump, spark plugs, etc.). It made me feel like because my car is used and not a Volkswagen, that they don't care. It's frustrating because eventually, they will have to fix it. So, after I finally hear from them again, the service girl said the tech who was working on my car is in contact with a tech from another dealership to figure out what's going on with my car. They then said they would know more the next day. So, I have FINALLY gotten my car back and so far the problem seems to have been fixed. However, when I picked my car up, I noticed that my rims were damaged, some more than others… Not happy or impressed. My car should come out only in better condition not worse. Overall was not pleased with the lack of the communication and lack of care/support the dealership showed me after the sale and the fact that my rims are damaged. Just because it's a used off brand car doesn't mean I should get treated any differently. And to Barrie Volkswagen, make sure your service advisors are updating customers and calling them back before the end of the day, the customer should not have to be the one to call in for updates. Update problem is not fixed

My vehicle was written off on Boxing Day & I found out on new years eve and was told to have the rental vehicle back by January 6th. I was so distraught about having to replace a vehicle in mere days and was connected with Nishant. Nishant took the time to communicate with me on New Years Day (the dealership was not open) & we setup an appointment to view a tiguan the next day (January 2nd). I came in 5 minutes early to find that he was out gassing up a vehicle, came in to greet me with the exact car I was looking for parked & warmed up waiting for me outside while I insisted we review some of the financials. Deal went smooth, financing was smooth and simple & finally Nishant came to deliver my vehicle to my office in Etobicoke (Toronto) on January 6th with my add on tint done. Bill indicated that another part had to be replaced but not notified that this needed to be done. Had to call continuosly to get an answer about the progress. Bill total different than quoted total. Wrote letter to Jesse van Kinderen (General Manager) and followed up with email requesting a reply. To date still no response. Save yourself the trouble and get your vehicle serviced at another shop.

Barrie VW made me an appointment for corrosion inspection a week ago for today and they called me one hour before to tell me they can't do it because they don't have the staff cause of covid. And to top it up, when I asked what happens if my car warranty expires until covid goes away they're telling me that's my business to inquire after VW Canada...

The sales department had used false Carfax documentation to facilitate the sale of a 2013 Used Volkswagen Golf TDI (emissions buy back vehicle) which resulted in receiving a vehicle with over $7000 damage in 3 claims and no service records. Barrie Volkswagen failed to follow legal disclosure requirements on the purchase agreement and misprinted trade disclosure information on the credit agreement. Do not trust this dealership or the Dilwari group in general. They are a bunch of crooks. Dont believe me? Go online (like reddit) and read other people's experience on this place. Take your hard earned money and valuable time else where.

Wow! Absolutely impressed! Saturday I found myself driving through this awful weather to take my son to a birthday party in Barrie. During my drive I experienced terrible ice build up on my wipers as I parked to clear them my driver side wiper completely snapped off. As I knew this was not an easy fix as they aren't compatible with wipers sold at local stores I googles VW Barrie. I took a chance and drove the 6 minutes to the dealership with little visibility. When I arrived I was greeted by two men, Brent and Elliott. With my wiper in my hand I asked them for the service desk. They informed me it was closed, I explained to them the issue with my wiper and that I was not able to go to a local store for replacement. Without hesitation they said they would help me. They went to the back and moments later returned with another named Predesh who replaced the wiper. Thank you to you three for your generosity and ensuring that myself and my children made our way home safely.

I received a cold call from the service department advising me that I had an outstanding recall (insertion of some plastic gadget to prevent me from fueling my TDI with gasoline). The service adviser stated that they had the parts in stock and encouraged me to come in. I had to make an appointment (for today). During the conversation he acknowledged that I do not service my vehicle there, and also attempted to sell me additional services. I declined the additions but agreed to come for the recall. Later (during dinner) he called me again to advise me that there would be a CHARGE FOR THE RECALL WORK since I had previously ignored the notice. NIce!!!

Ian,James and Elliott. I can't say enough good things about these guys. My son and I went in to look at the different models and Ian told us about a Tiguan and the story behind. We checked it out. James came along and showed us the workings of the car and worked some of the numbers. Then Elliot the manager took over the money part and talked to me about the extended warranty. **Updated as of April 30th 2019** My wife had a puncture in her tire and took the car down to the VW Barrie as they were close by and did not want to drive far on tire that was losing air. VW Barrie saw to her immediately put a patch on the tire and did it free of charge due to the past issues experienced. My wife told me that the service dept seemed to have changed and was treated exceptionally well. I booked my car in as i was having issues with the passenger door not latching. Dropped the keys inside the dropbox and very next morning wife receives a call from service dept saying they have my car and are starting work on the problem, by lunchtime the car was fixed and ready for pickup, the car was washed and cleaned very impressed with the level of service received. Recently had another issue the car was blowing hot when switched to A/C. Called VW Barrie was informed i would have to wait until next week as they were already booked up, i was stressing i drive my car to Toronto and my car would be out of warranty due to the KM's and i would require a loaner car as well, Steve told me to give him sometime and a person from Service would call me back. Within an hour received a call from Sarah informed i could drop my car in and pick up a loaner and they would fix the issue asap. Picked up the loaner and left my car. Same night got another call saying problem was diagnosed and part has been ordered would be ready for Monday. Thanks VW Barrie, What a refreshing change in service, You have won me over from going above and beyond recently. May the good work continue. Will be coming back for my VW needs. This dealership is an utter joke and complete sham. I have been burned by the service dept several times I live 5 mins away but will drive to Alliston then deal with these group of incompetent people. I booked my car in a week in advance for some items to be repaired under warranty including recall notices took the day off work. When I arrived waited 25 mins to speak with a customer service rep. Finally checked my car in and was told that they could not find my booking in the system. Apparently they are updating their systems and had lost a bunch of appointments and were double booked. No apology offered the rep informed me they were rammed and might not be able to get around to fixing my car that day no alternate solution offered, gold to leave the car and someone would call. Waited till 4:30pm no phone call, called the dealership several times finally got through waited on hold for 20 mins for the rep. She informed that there was issues with my car but had no time to repair them and bring back my car next Wednesday yes VW Barrie like it is that easy. I asked for a loaner car as the repairs would take some time informed loaner cars are hard to guarantee and I would have to be patient. At no point was a rental offered or any alternate solution to satisfy a pissed off customer that had been jerked around completely. I said forget it give me my car I’m going to Alliston. I honestly hope VW Canada revokes your dealership license because you are trashing their image with garbage service all the managers prefer to hide behind glass partitions then deal with actual issues. I got my car back today without repairs done at no time was an apology given or any type of gesture to make things right. Anyone reading the reviews that give 5 stars don’t believe them and think twice before giving your hard earned money to this dealership.

Staff is awesome! Had a great experience from the moment I entered to the moment I picked up my vehicle. Ian was the sales person I dealt with.... Awesome to deal with and had a true passion for the VW brand as well as a love for his job. He was very accommodating and provided me all the answers to all my questions. Amazing place...Steve and Dillon were the best...they even brought my car right to the door so I wouldn't have to walk any distance to get it as I have arthritis in my knees....huge waiting room with fruit or muffins along with tea, coffee or water...highly recommended for any of your car repairs.

called to talk to someone from the service department about issues I was having with my vehicle . Was passed around and put on hold for what seemed to be 30 minutes . The receptionist did not offer any help once so ever ! All she seems to like to say is “sorry no ones available, you want me to put you to a voicemail” well I’ve been waiting on the phone for a half an hour maybe that shoulda been offered earlier ? Waste of time going or calling this dealership . No one answers any phones calls and the receptionist is has no clue how to do a proper job . You only have one job to answer phones and she can’t even manage to do that . Need better staff that want to go the extra mile to ensure returning customers . Will never go to that dealership . I went to alliston vw instead ! Don’t bother wasting your time calling there . No one ever answers their phones
