Ordered their Thanksgiving meal (turkey/beef Wellington) and was so impressed. It was enough food for two separate dinners so we did just that and everyone was amazed. I was also really impressed with the staff, the hostess met me at the parking lot to show me where to go and the chef actually carried the meals to my car. We will happily become regulars here!

Ambiance was great, service was fine, but the quality of the food didn’t match the insane prices. If I’m paying $55 for 4 scallops and $25 for a cocktail, I want to be blown away. Instead, I walked away thinking “that wasn’t terrible.” I also mentioned to the hostess that I was pescatarian, and also repeated the restriction to the waiter, but wasn’t warned of seafood dishes that also contained meat.

Food is excellent as always, although the jamon iberico from the charcuterie being no longer available is a bit of a bummer. There’s always a new drink to try every time, same goes for desserts, and a good number of entrees are also top notch. -2 because there was one employee? (dressed differently) who wasn’t our server came to our table after drinks and appetizer asking if we were ready for the bill. Ignoring the fact that our entrees were taking forever and have yet to come out, why is someone who isn’t even our server asking if we were ready to pay..? The same person held us back on our way out, informed us that there was a dress code and we should come dressed better next time. I hate to say it, you guys picked a location that’s literally the first floor of a residential building, 30 yards from a subway sandwiches and maybe 50 yards from the ramp homeless people live under. Plus if I’m spending half a grand on a meal, I’ll wear a t-shirt and joggers if I want to. I’ve also been here 4-5 times over the last year, I’ve worn literal basketball shorts in here before, never had an issue until premature bill guy. I’m here to eat good food with good company, not to uphold some image for you to the obnoxious table of eight 2’ behind me with laughs that can be heard over the sirens of a fire truck. While you’re giving me pointers on how to dress, you could also let some of your other guests know that they’re not here to record the laugh tracks for a sitcom

I tried the tasting menu since I did not have that great of an impression for a dish that I had chosen last time. The halibut, duck and Australian striploin dishes were way above my expectation, but the shrimp ceviche appetizer blew my mind. Cocktails and desserts were great and service was up to par. I am glad to have chosen this place to be my first restaurant outing in awhile, I'll be back for more.

The food is delicious. The oysters were fresh and meaty. The garnishes for the oysters were also very nice. The steak tartare was delicious too. The espresso martinis are good and not too sweet. A must try.

The Butcher Chef was phenomenal. The wild shrimp ceviche was refreshing and a perfect start to the meal. I tried the PEI Tenderloin and it was cooked to perfection, very flavourful. The portion sizes were also good - a big highlight in my opinion. For dessert, the espresso martini is a must try. Service is top class, and the decor’s beautiful. Would recommend to anyone!

Amazing. The bread was incredible and the steak, although I got the cheapest one($75) , was tender and perfect. Unlike any experience I’ve had before. I went with my boyfriend and he ordered a Japanese steak which was about $250 for the steak alone. He said his was amazing. We also had the carrots and asparagus and potatoes as sides. Would recommend getting just one side to share because they come in large portions on a separate plate. We went for our anniversary and would love to come back when we have the money lol

This new venue is an absolute home run, while the individual parts are as good as anything in the city, the whole experience is brought together via the ambience and a terrific team that belies the usual start up pains, our server (Rochelle), sommelier (Chris), head chef (Derek) and the rest of the team deliver as good as it gets protein in a wonderful way...the Michael’s proprietors should be proud, Bravo!!

I had dinner last week with a friend and it was outstanding. The attention to detail is remarkable, Chef Derek has outdone himself. We tasted most items on the menu and each one was delicious and prepared perfectly. I can’t stop talking about this place! My new favourite dining room in TORONTO. It’s nice to have an option so close to Scotia arena pre-game / post-game dinner. 2 min walk to the arena. Amazing food and drinks. These guys put together a perfect new restaurant.

The wild shrimp ceviche is a great starter! If you’re a fan of ceviche I wouldn’t miss out. You must try it. There is a variety of steak options available. Personally one of the only restaurants I come to for steak because of the consistency. Regularly juicy, flavoursome, and cooked exactly as requested. Management is friendly, servers are timely, and the atmosphere is divine. 0 complaints. Can’t forget the amazing mixology knowledge of the bartenders. Their ability to create new cocktails based on your likings or cravings is impressive.

We were given an amuse-bouche, it was something we would have never ordered on our own - however it was so tasty & greatly appreciated! I’ve been waiting for this place to open, and after an amazing dinner here last night, I’ll say that it was definitely worth the wait! It’s a unique and beautiful boutique steakhouse, hidden away on Harbour St. love that the entire family is involved, from the design and decor to the front of house staff, it speaks to their commitment and passion. The restaurant seats approximately 50, and it’s an intimate experience. They have a unique cocktail menu, and I tried their version of the Sazerac which was accompanied by Absinthe meant to be sipped together. Very unique!! Our amusebouche consisted of a gugère and potato crisp with shellfish - A great way to start off!! Their menu has great options for all, with seafood steak and game meats. Thank you to the staff for asking about and accommodating for food allergies ! Other stellar dishes pictured here are the octopus with chorizo and the succulent Venison - Wow that’s probably the best venison I’ve ever had! You have to try the smoked # carrots and shishito peppers - The smoke and spices definitely take these dishes to the next level! My dinner companions had the heirloom salad and Cornish Hen which were beautifully presented and delicious, as well as the steak which was ‘perfectly done.’ Our portion sizes were quite substantial so although we didn’t stay for dessert, of course I took some to go. The white chocolate cheesecake was beautifully presented, delicious, and a wonderful end to the meal! Overall, an exceptional experience, and one I’ve been waiting to try for years. The wait was worth it! Great job by this team overall and I wish you success on this journey!! I’ll be back!

Maybe I had high expectations but this was a little of a disappointment. I love the decor and thy the place is small and has only about 10-15 tables, but the food was not impressive. The steak wasn’t worth its money at all, and the sides were very average. The wine was great, the service was meh. I don’t think I would want to come back here.

Amazing food and impeccable service in an elegant contemporary setting at this relatively new restaurant emphasizing steak, but with a much wider menu. We shared a magnificent Argentinian dry aged ribeye steak cooked medium rare to perfection. The accompanying oyster mushrooms and heirloom salad were outstanding. Although expensive, it is worth the money. My only criticism is there could be better signage identifying the restaurant so that it is easier to find.

Great service and food. It’s a high end place so expect to pay high end prices but they are very accommodating. Owner Michael Dabic was present the day I was there and he was very friendly and he treated my group very well. Our waiter was named Robell and he was excellent. ????????????

Fantastic Steak and Seafood Restaurant. Service was impeccable, food was outstanding. Drinks and wine were top notch. One of the best restaurants in Toronto. It's a hidden gem in the city. Minutes away from Scotiabank Arena at Bay and Harbour Streets. Great for business meetings, date nights or out with friends. They have an outdoor patio too and a private diningroom. 24oz PEI Prime Ribeye was cooked to perfection aka medium rare. Lol. The potatoes and leeks was deliciously creamy. Also had some cheese and chive macarons and a beef tartare with seaweed that were quite different. But it did strike the pallet in a good way. They went with a vinaigrette based Caesar salad and was genius. Creme Brule was a little over cooked, wasn't as creamy as it should of been but the taste was still excellent. Nothing but good news and good food here. Obviously, its the sister restaurant of Michael's on Simcoe.

To say that the Butcher Chef paid fine attention to detail when creating their dining experience is an understatement. From the decor, to the service, to the food itself, nothing was left to be desired. As someone who used to work in the restaurant industry, I was blown away by the product knowledge and overall etiquette of the serving staff. The Shrimp Ceviche is a must as well as the Espresso Martini, which the owner, Michael Dabic, has told me he has been perfecting for years. It was an exemplary finish to the meal. I highly recommend for a celebration or just a casual night out on the town.

Really disappointed with our dinning experience here. Expected much better for a restaurant of this caliber. The steaks were average. Once the food came out no server came to see if we needed anything or if the food was ok. We spoke to management about our experience and he did listen and compensated by offering us desserts on the house … however he did not ask if we had any dietary restrictions as some of the desserts had alcohol or gelatin which we do not eat. We basically had 4 desserts to compensate for the poor service and dinning experience half of which we weren’t able to eat. Would definitely not return or come back. Not worth the $300 bill.

Nice ambience and they have Toto toilets which is great. The cocktails that I tried were really good specially Sea Air on Sunday. Extensive steak menu. I tried the miyazaki striploin medium and l really liked it. I think medium rare would have been good too. I didn't see too many sides/appetizers that I liked and the soup tasted ok but I didn't enjoy it...too runny for me. The dessert (pavlova) was ok a bit stale. I would just order steak and cocktails. They do also have a big wine list. Our server was nice however I did encountered unnecessary drama as soon as I entered. I booked this venue on Sept 14 for Oct 16th on OpenTable for 2 females and provided my credit card info and choose Birthday as the occasion. There were 2 radio buttons: one for indoor dining and another for outdoor which was grayed out (disabled). I obviously chose indoor dining. We arrived on time (6:30) and the hostess informed us that they only have patio seating available. It was a chilly day and raining too. I asked why and she told me because I hadn't booked it in advance and was a last minute booking. I told her I booked it about a month ago. She then said, I had to write my seating preference in the comment box. I felt I was being lied to and disrespected. She talked to her manager and we eventually had our indoor seat but told us we have to leave by 8 which made me feel very uncomfortable since ordering apps/main/dessert can sometimes take longer depending on the kitchen. This was my birthday and I didn't feel welcomed and didn't sense hospitality. When I told my sever he offered a complimentary martini and cheesecake. I appreciate the gesture but felt that the manager was arrogant and that impacts the overall vibe and service. I wish I had a better experience because I do love a good cocktail and steak.

What an absolutely gorgeous meal! We had the tasting menu and it was truly a culinary feast. Such a range of deliciousness with each dish bringing us further down the road of delight. From the most delicate fish, to perfectly braised duck, rabbit, raviolini al tartuffo and o my gosh the waigu beef was quite possibly the best I’ve ever tasted. We started with a beautiful violet cocktail and finished this treat with the affogato - chef Derrick outdid himself.

We pre ordered over the phone, and came in to pick up our order, although they do deliver. We wanted to take a quick peak of the restaurant inside as it is fairly new. This restaurant has such a lovely ambiance, and we can't wait to dine in! Our order was customized, and they took care of every little detail. We had several different kind of steaks (family of 6) cooked to our perfect temperature preference. The seasoning was impeccably on point. We had several different sides, all of which were absolutely incredible. There's nothing worse than being in the mood for steak and not being happy with your order (Sadly I've experienced this many times at other restaurants). This place did not dissappoint & is a must try for any steak lover. We are looking forward to sampling more....the bbq box on the menu sounds perfect for our patio staycation this weekend!

Definitely one of a kind for this city! Feels like you're in an intimate VIP restaurant in NYC. The level of service & respect take VIP to the next level. Chef is by far one of the best in this city, amongst others.... needless to say the quality of food, taste & presentation, is to die for! The atmosphere, decor & attention to detail is breathtaking. The epitome of class. I have been beyond impressed from my visits to The Butcher Chef, from the second you walk in, the cheerful greeting at the host stand to being shown your table and every step of service. These people know what they’re doing. My girlfriend and I enjoyed a beautiful dinner the night before the lockdown started and couldn’t have been happier. We enjoyed the beef tartare and were treated to this incredible bread/butter/cheese and bacon dish (so tasty). Their Bar director Ben is beyond talented and we loved all of their cocktails but especially the “5 O’Clock Tea” which was made with a green tea infused Crystal Head Vodka and their “worlds best amaretto sour” with Signal Hill Whisky. I also enjoyed a nice Boulevardier, possibly the best Margarita I’ve had since moving to Toronto and their “Apple of my eye”cocktail. Their tented patio was really well done and was very warm ! Can’t wait to visit them again soon !

As a steak lover I had very high hopes for this place. Comparing it to Jacobs I didn’t find the steak that good, best thing on the menu was the A5 tartar. Service was very average. Sever messed up a lot. Sides were not good, cheesecake was good though, being in the same family as micheals on Simcoe I had a much better experience there. Will not return.

Last Saturday, my wife and I went to The Butcher Chef for the first time. We've dined at Michael's On Simcoe numerous times and have always had an amazing experience so we were anticipating another wonderful evening. The Butcher Chef, did not disappoint. It's a intimate yet approachable setting with luxury finishes throughout; no detail was overlooked. The menu is concise and well thought with a comprehensive wine list with options for everyone. We were offered the bread coarse by the knowledgeable and friendly staff; it's an absolute must have! It's brioche loaf, the manager or wait staff will elegantly pour melted gruyere cheese on the top and finish it with a zest of cured meat. It's to die for. Enjoy. For our appetizers, we had the Heirloom Salad and Tuna & A5 Wagyu Tartare; both dishes we're prepared nicely and we're delicious. Would definitely recommend the Tartare. For our entrees, we split the San-Luis Argentina 14oz Ribeye. The waiter was very helpful throughout the evening, helping us navigate the menu and choices. When it came to Steaks, he was extremely valuable. He knew his cuts and regions well to help ensure we made the best decision for our palates. Sides, Shishito Peppers with Spiced Goat Cheese & Pastrami Smoked Carrots. We typically don't go for Carrots at restaurants but they were worth the "gamble". Very good and would recommend you try them. Desert, we had Salted Caramel Creme Brulee which was delicious. I would highly recommend The Butcher Chef for any occasion; it's a place to celebrate a special occasion or to catch up with friends / family.

All I can say is this: WOW! I had high expectations for The Butcher Chef after reading reviews and seeing the prices. The food was absolutely outstanding and the venue is intimate. Having experienced some other popular steakhouses of similar caliber in the city (Harbour 60, Blueblood), I can honestly say this was the best steakhouse meal I have ever had in Toronto. For a special occasion, the prices are absolutely worth it. To start, my partner and I ordered the bread, wild shrimp ceviche and caesar salad. The bread was brioche served with some kind of zucchini mixture on top and freshly shaved truffle. I really appreciated that they elevated the experience of having bread with a meal. It was really like it’s own special appetizer. The Caesar salad was very good, although it was the wild shrimp ceviche that really blew me away. The flavour was complex and evolved as it was in your mouth. Hard to explain… but truly outstanding! For our main, we ordered the wild mushrooms, pastrami carrots, 8oz. PEI Tenderloin and Ontario 16 oz. Bone-in Striploin. My partner and I were blown away by the tenderness and flavour of the steaks. My PEI tenderloin had a wonderful salinity and a perfectly executed crust. The dinner for 2 was about $500. Although pricey, it was worth it. Cannot recommend this place enough! So impressed. It is obviously a lot of care has gone into the curation of the experience for the guest. We will definitely be back.

Highly recommended! I visited The Butcher Chef with my boyfriend on a night out for his birthday and we were both thoroughly impressed. One of the best steakhouses in the city and some of the best service and food you'll experience. All the dishes we tried were beyond our expectations. The morel mushroom salad and the tuna & A5 tartare are a definite must have. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and provided an intimate and whimsical ambiance. The service from the moment we walked in to the time we left was consistently welcoming and professional. We will definitely be visiting again sometime soon.

This is one of the nicest places you can go to in Toronto; for a special time with a best friend, a colleague or a romantic night of magic memories. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, special and they are on point. This is the real deal. Having dined in restaurants all over the world, including Dubai and Mexico City, NYC and London UK...I have the upmost confidence to encourage everyone to experience elegant dining at it's finest. I've had the recent pleasure in dining at The Butcher Chef. Given that this establishment is in the middle of downtown with no shortage of culinary competition, I had a great experience here. The décor is top notch and gives and the food is at the same level. It was close proximity to Scotiabank Center so I see it giving Harbor 60 a run for its money.
