Smoke meat was excellent and the service was awesome ???????? Our waitress was a great server and a kind soul ???? The young lady at the front by the dessert display was very helpful and wrapped up a piece of Pecan Pie and Carrot Cake Cheese cake for us to take home. We enjoyed our meal at Le Roi du Smoke Meat ????

Partly like stepping back in time 20 years. Red vinyl booths, a long bar, old fashioned. I've never eaten there, I take things home. The smoked meat is outstanding(5*), the rye bread is delicious, and they make wonderful salade de chou! Only star off for the location, but then it's so charming...

If you like old school places it's the place to go. The food is a bit basic tho.. I took a pizza and tbh it's not the best one. But the waitress was really sweet and service is really fast!

It really doesn't matter if a restaurant has been established for 60+ years. Prices are ridiculous for the same old deli fries as anywhere else. Portions are smaller than any other similar deli. Coleslaw tastes like cabbage only, barely any acidity since barely any vinegar. Ketchup and Mustard are in Heinz original bottles but seem to taste like the cheap brands. Not coming back.

You either love it or you hate it, there is no in between. The fact that i didn’t get to take a picture of my smoked meat sandwich is proof that just the sight of it made me forget who i am. It was so good and delicious i immediately wanted another. The poutine was great, VERY saucey and cheesey as you can see in the photo. The slice of carrot cake caramel cheesecake is so perfect. I don’t even know if it’s made in house i just know it’s perfect.

My go-to smoke meat in the Villeray neighborhood. Their smoked meat is really good, especially if you order medium fat. Great diner and it always hits the spot. If you're not into smoke meat, I would eat their pasta or their souvlaki platter!

Got the smoked meat sandwich meal (medium fatty) was very juicy and on par with many similar diners. Got a side of gravy for the fries as well. Went on the weekend so the price was inflated versus the weekday lunch special.

While my friends enjoyed their smoked meat sandwiches, I opted for the steak submarine. It was a full meal, juicy and quite tastey. No room left for my fries. Worth a stop when you're in the Plaza St-Hubert area.

Hubby was craving a smoked meat sandwich and it was well worth the find! We ordered one Smoked Meat Sandwich medium grease a small poutine and one souvlaki platter with two chicken skewers. The sandwich was absolutely delicious and the chicken skewers very nice, flavorful and tender. You can see I shared the platter with my child and there was still more then enough left over. Poutine was good, not salty, and has a hint of clove (I think) so a different taste to the gravy then most places, but good. Will be back.

Ordered two stick pork souvlaki, was not disappointed. Came with rice (vegetable flavor) fresh fries, (perfectly done, new oil) good sized real Greek salad (super fresh) tzatziki sauce (Lotsa garlic, full flavor, done right) and of course the meat, done perfectly, slightly charbroiled, med tender, flavorful. All this, plus she gave me an extra rice ( no charge) for 16$.

It is 11:58PM and they literally just very snidely refused to serve me the second I walked in. Where does that come into play for a restaurant that is open until 5AM? I had been coming here since I moved to Montreal in 2015 but no more.

Late night and we were walking down the street and passed this restaurant. We decided to give it a try as our family or 5 was hungry fir a long day touring Montreal. My father n law had the smoked meat and he loved it. I myself had a smoked meat pizza...... wow! Beyond my expectations on how delicious. Wife and mother n law had Greek and that too was great. I thanked the cook as it was so delicious. He mentioned they have been there 70 years as a establishment. Amazing. :)

Poutine was a very average poutine. Regular size is enough. Sauce is nothing special, not hot enough (temperature) to melt the cheese curds.

BEST SMOKED MEAT! Hands down. Schwartz ain’t got nothing on Le Roi su Smoked Meat.. Le Roi offers juicy, thick, fresh and delicious smoked meat, at their very simple and straightforward diner and also does delivery. Haven’t tried anything else on their menu, so my 5 stars are solely based on their smoked meat.

The real deal; the Schwartz's you really wanted, without the lineup. The staff are no-nonsense, and the meat is fantastic. Open late, always fresh. The fries are ok, nothing crazy. If you are a stuffy jerk, they won't serve you. I trust people like that. I have also got the Special delivered a few times, which is a huge plate of meat and a loaf of bread. Sandwiches for days :) Well worth it.

Pretty good smoked meat and fries. This place provides a good alternative to the smoked meat places on St. Laurent. Waitresses with strong dialects provide an authentic Québecois experience. I get the feeling of going back in time when I eat here (circa 1960-1975).

Very cute and vintage place. The smoked meat sandwich is just so light and deliciously falls apart, I've never had a sandwich like this before. Get a pickle with it or a cherry pepper if you like spicy! Highly recommend if you're a tourist in Montreal.

Pretty much just a pile of ham on soggy bread with a side of frozen french fries. Add to that order, an extremely sour hostess who gave us the worst service we’ve ever come by. It left us in awe.. in the worst of ways.

Was introduced to this place buy a friend who has been a long time cutomer. He would always order the 1lb special. Now whenever i'm in the area pick it up for the family. 1lb smoked meat, 1 rye bread and 2 choices of sides. Yes the price is now 24.99$ (up 2$) But like everyone else their overhead has gone drastically up due to covid. Support a local institution if you can. A lot better value than McD's and better tasting too. Once you discover them if you use an Ordering App. Do like Ctv news said pick up in person or use their delivery service Uber eats takes 30%. No i am in no way affiliated with this restaurant. In fact just got layoff notice October 1'st. Trying to do something nice for another Montreal institution that is just trying to survive. If you have the means order from a local restaurant in your area. Hopefully they will be around after covid. Stay smart and stay safe

Rude woman on phone for delivery, and she wouldn't let me order cause my French is bad. Tried again at this place a few months later(tonight) and they would t order to me because I don't have a Montreal number even though I gave them a valid number and you don't need a phone number to come knock on someone's door. Poutine is made with frozen fries. I took a bambino, mini poutine and soft drink trio, my little little poutine had really not much sauce, I got up and ask if they could just put a little more , they wanted to charge me an extra sauce. Pizza wasn’t even that good. And prices are really high. It was my first time and my last . Gross place

I had a similar experience to another reviewer, where the person taking phone orders wouldn't take our order without a local phone number and was not very pleasant about it. I'm sure she's just following management policy but there are ways to do this without being snippy. Perhaps management could make her job easier by allowing deliveries when a valid cell number is provided. In this day and age the driver could simply text if there is a problem. The food itself was excellent which is why I still gave 4 stars.

Very cozy, classic diner with red booth seating (imagine the diner in Harry Met Sally) and A+ customer service, the staff are very polite and make you feel at home! I will definitely be back here. To be honest, I never went to that place in person. But I ordered on many occasions. And you know what? You can order 1lbs of smoked meat!! After ordering that (it was my first time ordering there), I understood why that place is an institution. Their smoked meat is just out of this world! After ordering that on a couple of occasions, I started to try other stuff. I tried the smoked meat submarine, the smoked meat pizza, the corner sandwich (do yourself a favor and try that!), well, everything with smoked meat in it. I never ordered something that does not contain smoked meat (the exception being their excellent chocolate cheese cake) so, I can't speak for those products but for everything with smoked meat, this is the place! And, about that 1lbs of smoked meat, just imagine what you could do with it! - smoked meat pasta sauce - Reuben sandwich (even better if you have a culinary torch to melt the cheese) - smoked meat bites for a pot luck (trust me. Everybody will prefer the people who brings the smoked meat bites and the little sausages warped in bacon. Don't be the one who brings a salad. I learned that the hard way) - just plain smoked meat because it's that delicious Anyways, what I'm trying to say is that if you buy that 1lbs of smoked meat, you'll fall in love with that place!
