I love Metro for their fresh meats, vegetables and fruits. Their bakery is my favourite as well. Instant meals and sandwiches and pizza are also great when in a rush. Only thing that bothers me is most times they are more expensive than other grocery stores.

Very clean store! Upon entering we were asked if we had any symptoms and they disinfect the carts before we enter. The staff are very helpful. One male staff saw we were buying spaghetti sauce off the shelf in the aisle and he showed us there was a display sale on the end cap already stocked. All the products we were looking for were there except for field cucumbers which were not in season, so that was understandable! We also had trouble with the self checkout and the lady was so helpful. I will definitely use be coming back to this location of Metro again.

I have not shopped here for years, preferring Super Store or Zehrs. However having recently moved back to the north end Metro is close to me so I thought I would try it out again. I remember from the past that the cashiers were unfriendly and didn’t seem to enjoy their jobs or interacting with the customers. That has not changed for the most part. Tonight I purchased a package of cooked chicken breasts and a small container of “root vegetables” from the deli. The chicken was so hard and dry I had to toss it. The vegetables were half raw and tasteless. All together this cost $13 and was not edible. From now on I’ll go the extra distance to another store for decent food and smiling cashiers. ????????

Poor management at this location. Head office needs to school this management. 3 reasons (of a long list): The lineups are a mess, especially during this time people are crowding around the ends of the aisles budding each other and bumping into each other, confused as to where to go. It's as if the management has not looked at any of the other stores in southwestern Ontario and realized they need one dedicated line and a staff member to direct. Too cheap to pay for one employee to increase the efficiency and safety of the customers in this community. Management should also tell Laura the cashier to follow Metro store announcements that play frequently that the mask is supposed "cover the nose and face"... Management walked out of the office right in view of her and said/did nothing, if she has a nasal issue, management should be providing her a face shield. Visited a different Metro today in London and they have none of these issues. This location should be investigated by corporate. Do they not know how to label product pricing properly? Which price is this product for? (Image below)

Good grocery store with a great selection of all foods. Some prices seemed a bit high but the sale deals are great. The store is small with lots of products so I found that it is somewhat crowded and tight but that's not a reason to avoid the store.

They've been updating their store for a few months now, and it looks great. They have an open butcher section, a wider selection of baked goods, and a store made salad area. They're now competing with other boutique grocery stores which is a great thing. The prices are decent as well with lots of sales that compete with the ' basic' grocery stores.

While the sales I went there for in the meat department were good and the produce selection was fresh (but a tad overpriced) the hot food was all crusty, overcooked or dried out looking. Meatballs were sitting in a pan that had blackened sauce in the bottom.

I am usually in Metro every morning on my way to work. I find the girls on cash very friendly and helpful. I find the store layout good and the garden area always has something nice for me to give as a gift. I will mention that I find it a bit chilly at times with the door opening and closing for customers and wonder about the poor girl on cash #1. Keep up the great work everyone!

I was referred to the Metro Store in St Catharines by Jeff Helm from the Food Basic store in Port Colborne. re: my quest to buy some horseradish root. I called and spoke to Terry Shields in the produce dept..he couldn't have been more pleasant or helpfull.....great work Terry. They carry the product and offered to order in a bag of the root for me . I accepted and gave him my info. He is going to call me when the root arrives. Again I have recd excellent customer service. It sure looks like the Food Basic/Metro group of stores really know how to hire employees who know how to treat a customer. Managers...take note..these guys need a pat on the back.

Teasing you..every other metro out there gives u that option..but they do not....the metro in Brantford also has this shady practice...shame on you

HOWEVER there was this one girl named Amy (i think) who whould not allow me to pay in cash when the debit card reader was brokekin makeing have to go to a new line and wait 20 mins in the line then leaving SHOUT OUT to a guy named dave for saying sorry to me on the way out and holding the door for me.

Shopping at this Metro was a surreal experience. It felt just like walking into 1996. The faded murals on the walls, the fake wood paneling, the smell of rotting seafood...It all comes together to remind of you simpler times. On the main, this Metro feels like a corner store on steroids. I have no other way to describe it. 5 stars!

The location is convenient to me otherwise I would probably do my groceries somewhere else . I find the staff particularly cashiers and deli (who are mostly boomers ) not very friendly and almost seem bothered. The younger staff are friendly though . The older staff are probably unionized or something and feel they are doing you a favor by checking you out.

Purchased a package of beef tenderloin and bbq it up yesterday. It was the worst piece of meat I have had in years! Very disappointing for a quality store. Bakery shop and personal great as usual. I drive from Niagara Falls but that may change. Too bad really.

I find this particular laundry mat, is not the cleanest in the city. Id advise everyone to go to the Backdoor Laundry Mat OR, the First Ave Coin Laundry Mat (i believe it's called.). In my experience, these two are the cleanest with the best customer service if a problem arises and The Backdoor Laundry Mat has SEVEN 24/7 working security pants!

I just spent 5 minutes waiting at the deli counter waiting to be served. I was the only customer at the time. There was at least 5 or 6 employees doing their thing behind the counter but TOTALLY OBLIVIOUS to the fact I was waiting! I left my cart and walked out of the store. Once in awhile i get the 4 pack subs. Always taste good. The stone baked pizza’s are to die for. A must try. Meat is fairly priced here. Besides that the store doesn’t price match and prices on many items are more expensive compared to other grocery stores. The store is located in the mall which is nice but there’s not much in there. The mall is slowly rebuilding itself since Walmart killed the competion everywhere!

Metro is known for being convenient and 24 hours. However in St Thomas the Metro is probably the least convenient grocery store to go to as it is out of the way of most other shopping areas in town, and it closes at 10 or earlier on the weekends. Coupled with their higher prices than other grocery stores. It doesn't make much sense to shop here. Maybe when Elgin Mall picks up business or the Hilton Hotel opens, it might bring more customers and might make Metro a little bit more convenient to shop. Until then I would recommend staying around Talbot Street smart Center. (Superstore Walmart, dollar stores, A&W, Etc...)

The bakery here does amazing photo cakes! Fresh and tasty, even can put different flavours together in one cake. I sometimes pick up a hot meal here. I'd probably buy bread here for the family if they had some that was made and baked in store. I've been visiting this store for a few years and staff have always seemed friendly. Prices are higher than some others for items not on sale. There's no pharmacy in store but is one further down the mall and another in the medical building across the street. I read in newspaper that operating hours were reduced to prevent store from closing. Hopefully with so many people moving to St. Thomas, that will benefit area retailers.

This Grocery story is an example of how grocery stores should be. Even before and During this Covid pandemic this store has been able to stay clean, they have access to hand sanitizer at the front , the workers wipe everything down and everyone is still willing to help you if you need assistance . Great Cuts of meats, fantastic in house made sausages and the best Carrot Cake. Keep it up Metro.

Wow. Haven't been in here for years! The store is so bright and clean... and tons of things always on sale. Great quality cut meats (even hard-to-find ones with some fat in it cause we all know that's where the flavour is at ????) Love the seafood section also. I went in there for wings and pork chops and came out of there a really, really happy camper. ????

Love the quick and efficient staff here. Each person needs to take a cart in as they take a count per cart which is kind of a nuisance if you are a couple going in to purchase one item or two which you need to make a unison decision about. 4 stars for that inconvenience but 5 stars for the super efficient staff inclusive of the young man who handles the carts super quickly. Hard job for him.

Good store around the Lakeshore area in a good plaza that has almost everything you could need, such as a liquor store. Over all its a lot like other fresh grocery stores around, but a bit larger with more food options and already cooked and ready to eat foods such as bbq rotisserie chickens are there to buy as well, much like Zehrs offers, but I believe metro has a bit more options to choose from and different size chickens, such as their overly massive large chicken options which are still very cheap.

My whole experience at Metro this afternoon was terrible! The only reason I have given my rating 1 star was in recognition of the 2 Cashiers operating the only 2 checkout stations open in the whole store! It was between 2 & 3pm and the store was quite busy. I don't often, shop at this store so I had a lot of trouble finding what I was looking for. Of course, there wasn't a single Metro Employee to be found to help me locate what I was looking for. Eventually I just gave up and headed for the checkouts. As I mentioned above there were only 2 Checkouts open and both were the 1 to 8 item lines. To add to the chaos, 1 of these lines the Cashier was also covering the lottery desk. I have no idea if this is common practice for this a Manager to run his store with such a ridiculously short staff but what should have taken me 10 or 15 mins took me an hour. While I was standing in line forever, 2 or 3 Customers did comment that this store rarely has enough staff. I have worked in a Supervisory Position several times and expecting your Team to work well in these conditions is ludicrous!! Your Customers can sense the tension and they in turn get horrible Customer Service! Trying to save money by cutting your Staff is the worst thing to do. Maybe this Manager should receive training, learning how to properly manage a successful Team and store?

I prefer to do my grocery shopping at Metro. The meat, cheese, fish and produce are all good. Nothing to complain about. They are good with the rain cheques if anything on sale is sold out. Also, the butcher in the meat department knows his stuff. You can get everything cut the way you like it! 1" thick steaks is always good!!! And the beef is ALWAYS tasty! My go to grocery store!

This store has a great selection of well-made and delicious convenience foods in their ready-made section.. however, it’s not all convenient to shop here! It takes you seconds to find exactly what you want.. and then about 10-15 minutes in line to pay. Only ever one or two cashiers.. and none are ever express, so you have no choice but to wait behind customers with giant orders.

Listen, it's a Metro. Slightly more expensive than it should be, but it's not like you're throwing your money away like at Longos or some of the other "high end" grocery stores. It is what it is. That being said, the staff (cashiers specifically) have clearly never had customer service training, or been pressured by management to act even remotely interested in being there.

@MetrocanadaSCS I've had an extremely disappointing experience at your location on #Lakeshore in @St_Catharines. And there is a limit of ONE jar for the 725g @NutellaGlobal for $1.99. Disgusting unannounced #baitandswitch!!! I abhor the practice!!! Nowhere in the App offer does it say there is a limit of ONE, until you come to the store, grab some from the shelf in the breakfast section, where the offer isn't even mentioned, you go to the cashier where they point to a shelf at the front of the store, a $1.99 price tag with a HANDWRITTEN note of "Limit of 1". I absolutely despise bate and switch. Absolutely!!!! I wouldn't have even gotten out of the house to waste gas to go to the store for 1 jar at $1.99.

Terrible there was no cantaloupe in the shelves and went to the back to ask if they can make me one. There was an elderly lady that replyed it's going to take half an hour. REALLY to cut fruit. I advised her that I will be back before that time upon my return I was told by her that I have to knock on the door as only staff was allowed. Metro, in general, is expensive in comparison to other grocery stores. That being said, I have never had an issue with the quality of their fruits, veg, bakery, or food to go. I find the staff at this location hit and miss. Some seem very friendly while others make you feel like you are interrupting their day when you ask them anything. If you need any of the above items and want to be assured a quality purchase, use Metro. If you know exactly what you want, this location is great. If you need some advice, you may be better trying another Metro.

Small supermarket with a good range of products for its size, but some major bug-a-boos: Really bizarre that the vegetarian food is placed next to the halal food. The check out staff start scanning your items whilst the person in front is still packing up, leaving you unable to pack your items and there's already limited space for packing, so everything piles up. The check out staff talk in statements, rather then conversing with staff, so all you get is; You have bags Airmiles ( I still have no idea what that means or what they are actually trying to ask) Card or cash Debit or credit It just comes across rude, try adding the words into a sentence. The dates can also be hit and miss on food and some staff can be hit and miss Lastly there is a massive presence of plastic in store, which is very disappointing to see in this day and age.

Overall my shopping experience at this location is okay. They have a wonderful produce and meat section, the store is clean and easy to navigate. I'm giving them 3 stars due to the employee's that work behind the deli counter. They are incredibly unfriendly and flat out rude. I find they never acknowledge you when you walk up, it usually takes them a while to figure out you are standing there and even then they will let you wait a little longer. Seriously happens every time. Other then that, the store is great!

This is the worst shopping experience I have ever had. It's location is convenient, however it terrible shopping experience. The produce are moved frequently which makes it time consuming. They are currently renovating, however moving produce has been going on for the last year. The staff is extremely rude. The staff that has been there the longest seems to be the worst. Complaining about there jobs and how they are going to quit. Quit already! Today! On Tuesday, November 19th, My grandparents were grocery shopping in the store when my grandfather had a heart attack. Sam Cino, the assistant manager at the store calmly took control of the situation, with the help of other team members. They all did an amazing job, and when we got to the hospital, the paramedics made sure to tell us that Sam and team most definitely saved his life. Well, a month later, against all odds, our grandfather is coming home from the hospital today. We are so thankful for the amazing team at this store, as it is because of them, that we are able to spend Christmas with a man that means so much to all of us. Thank you so much again to all of you!

Metro has installed new cash registers that are spaced further apart to allow for wheelchair accessibility. This unlike their previous layout or that of their competitors allows full access to all, and at every register. This change is incredibly impactful and very appropriated. Bravo Metro!

This store is so clean and organized, it makes grocery shopping so much easier. I am always pleased with the COVID precautions as you enter the store, but my last visit on November 27th around 12:15pm was wonderful. The associate at the front door was very friendly and patient with everyone entering. In the short time I was waiting, I saw this associate handle a variety of situations and I was so impressed. From a couple forgetting their masks, to a lady trying to enter the store before it was her turn, to someone complaining about these COVID precautions, this associate was kind, calm, and courteous to everyone. I truly appreciate the extra care that is taken here, and fantastic customer service to that associate!

Don't bother with this store, customer service has dropped off immensely since the introduction of the self serve check-outs, used the store December 23 rd, only one regular check-out open, line up was twelve customers back when I counted. My grandson loves their cheese buns,sticks, and even their panzerotti's. There people that work in the store are generally very nice. You do occasionally get a Mr.Grumpy, or or a Mrs. Grumpy but that can happen anywhere.

Always most excellent supply of foods. Even hot to go meals. Pizza stone oven baked. BBQ chicken. Soups every kind of wraps to go. Freshly prepared. Too much to mention. There is cheese bread. Almost a pound of cheese in it. Freshly baked everyday. Cakes and bread too.
