The staff and owner are very friendly and they have a great selection of sausages, meat, breads and so on. Pick up a quick lunch while you're here, the chicken and beef patties are great as are their hot sandwiches (which seem to change over time).

My wife got ripped off, they must of gave her the Kobe beef price. Bought a 9lb rib roast(3 rib) for $150. Ridiculous. I was furious that she didn't pay attention. Were low income so this hurts extra as well.

Quality does not warrant the pricing, in my opinion. I bought a four-dollar sourdough with a crater-sized hole in it, and pricey cilantro lime coleslaw which is too acidic and nothing to write home about. I'm not keen about returning to this store.

Stumbled on this place one day while on a walk, and we were so pleasantly surprised. All local products and super friendly staff. Couldn't ask for more. Beautifully presented meats and cheeses, preserves, prepared dishes and so much more. The short ribs I purchased were incredible.

An excellent independent artisan butcher in the heart of Westboro. They have the best selection of eastern Ontario and Western Quebec cheeses in Ottawa plus happy eggs. Meat is local, hormone free and delicious and the helpful staff will answer all your novice questions. Excellent prepared foods too, including sausages, breads, sandwiches, Jamaican patties, roast chickens etc. Quality.

Good selection of unique meats but I bought turkeys and sausage for thanksgiving. I will be ordering my birds for turducken and Christmas from the shop. Cheese options were pretty good - I love the Celtic blue cheese. Staff very knowledgable about celiac disease and gluten free diets.

The best kept butcher's secret in the area! And while I would love to keep this my personal foodie secret forever, I just can't. From fatty delicious pork chops to house-made sausage, hard-to-find 45% heavy cream to local cheeses, the Piggy Market is my go-to for consistently local meats and other products. There's a lot of deliciousness packed into a small space so be sure to give yourself time to shop the entire store. And don't be shy to ask for what you're looking for - what you seek may just be in the back. A fantastic local gem!

Really bad service on all accounts. We were told by a staff member to phone in to ask if they had boerewors available the week that we wanted to pick some up. They also said a batch would be made if none were available. So we phoned the day before and had the pleasure of a really rude staff member tell us "he was too busy" and couldn't be bothered to help. Still, we made the trek to their store. They didn't have any.. We were not greeted or helped. We won't be going back and would caution anyone else wanting to spend money here.

Do not ask about any organ meats from here. I asked if they had any, and received a quite aggressive response that I better be willing to pay them for kilos of it because they getting me any otherwise. I kindly asked if they had other substitutes, but only got a very cold response of “no, we aren’t getting organ meat just for you”. Didn’t seem like such a wild inquiry that merited such a hostile response from a butcher shop that specializes in unique cuts. It is not difficult to explain that you don’t have organ meats because of xyz reason. No need to talk down to customers because they ask about meat at a butcher shop. Anyways, if you are looking for local meats it’s a good place, but be careful what you ask about because you may receive a very offended and snarky response as if you were being reprimanded for asking.

EDIT: On account of the nice response from the owner, I went back to The Piggy Market to try the patties again. I got a beef patty and a chicken patty. The beef patty was very flaky and the filling was awesome. The chicken patty still had a more dense pastry, but the filling was good. I would recommend the beef patty for sure! This place sells tasty Seed to Sausage products and has good service. I decided to try a "Jamaican Patty" and while it was fairly good, I don't think it's right to call it a Jamaican patty. It's more like a British pasty. JA patties are supposed to have a very flaky pastry, but this one was very dense. The flavour was ok, but at $4 , I just expected a bit more depth. You can get a box of genuine Jamaican patties for $8-$12!!! But again, on its own, it's okay, but not when it's called a Jamaican patty.

This amazing place is tucked away but is definitely a must-eat-at place! I ordered what was probably the best Reuben sandwich I have eaten (artisinal bread, perfected sliced meats and crazy addictive sauerkraut) and the beef Jamaican patties. Amazing selection of sausages, meats, and cheese, and will definitely partake in their charcuterie boards! It will be hard not to eat here every day
