I just discovered this incredible market and I’ve been here twice this week ! The chicken parmigiana is heavenly and then today they had hot out of the oven “gumdrop squares “ which I haven’t had since my mother-in-law made them this is my new go to!

Is this a hidden gem? They offer SO much more than I assumed. A very good spot for lunch in between shifts. Cod cakes, risotto balls, classic Italian style sandwiches, PANCHETTA, and exquisite coffee. This is a busy bustling team coming together to deliver an elevated experience. In my opinion the prices are fair. When I eat here I feel ready for the day. Now, let's talk about desserts... which are incredible. Authentic cannolis, custard, and a lemon mirange pie that takes first place in my books. This team does it right. I can tell the passion is in their ingredients. I can taste the real pallet of care, butter and sugar. Take your mom here, your family and your date. It's fun just being there. Groceries and gifts available as well. 5 whole hearted stars.

They also sell all the ingredients to make the food they serve, and if your looking for an amazing lasagna for dinner tonight they sell a pre made frozen one that is made exactly like the ones they sell in their cafe part

I seldom have bad things to say but one of the male (young with accent) counter staff was quite rude when I was about to order. He had been wrapping food in the display window when I asked to order. He huffed and emoted that my order was inconvenient to him. I looked at him and immediately asked if they were closing and he replied no. I was stunned by his lack of professionalism. When he looked back at me, he saw the look on my face and he knew I was very unimpressed. He put together my order and when it was done another staffer brought it to me. Unfortunately the lasagna was dry and flavorless and I was disappointed by it. Our dearest Sardinian friend's lasagna would put that one to shame. She would have been just as disappointed by the service and taste. (May she rest in peace) Sadly when I was paying it was only then did the male staff attempt to engage me on idle bank card chatter, but by then it was too late.

One of my favorite places to lunch. I like their food, service, friendly atmosphere and not too far to get to. It is in the city! You do not have to battle the downtown traffic. You can park and take in a walk as well and eat either before or after walking. The food is healthy and enough variety for most people.

An excellent place to get some hard to find ingredients. Unless those ingredients are behind the deli counter. Getting freshly sliced meats is comically slow. Make sure to bring a book if you are looking to build a charcuterie board.

The food here is delicious and unlike what you can get in just about any other restaurant in town. It's geared for the lunch crowd and very informal, but the food is top notch - sandwiches, hot dishes, made to order pastas and exquisite desserts. Mmm.

They have the worlds best club on the menu, it is close to being just that. Since I have not eaten every club in the world I can not say it is true with 100% certainty. Always enjoy the staff and food though.

APPALLED. I had spent less than 10 minutes In this store, admiring their excellent selection of aged balsamic vinegars and olive oils. Seemingly out of no where, a female owner/manager approached me and asked me "did you just take my staffs tip jar off the counter?" I am not accustomed to being casually accused of theft in such a bizarre manner. I am So glad this happened BEFORE I bought my (overpriced) dinner.

Best club sandwich I've ever had and no doubt the best in Halifax. Aside from the deli there are great sweets and a store stocked with delicious ingredients. Excellent service and friendly folks, there's a reason I always come back!

Been here a couple times when we get into Halifax and have loved each trip. Find some foods here (everything from sausage to pastries to European food items) that you cannot at normal grocery chains. Have not tried any sandwiches from their deli counter or anything but had some fantastic desserts from their counter. Worth a stop in and check out what is on their racks or looking for a nice bite to eat.

If you're looking for freshly made pasta by their "head chef" you'll be disappointed as this "italian" market does not make fresh pasta which is laughable really. Also noticed a significant turnover of staff who don't last long which makes one wonder about the work environment. Ok place for Halifax but wouldn't survive in Torontos' Little Italy due to a lack of authenticity. Most things they carry are outsourced. Marinara is not bad though.

Our favourite neighbourhood lunch spot! Great to have a taste of Italy and find a good supply of Italian products for home cooking. Excellent customer service and friendly staff make all the difference. Love a delicious bowl of homemade soup too. Highly recommended.

I enjoy the niche products that can be found here like the pasta sauces, frozen pizza dough, oils, breads, etc. The items are a bit on the pricy side but the quality is there. The store is always clean and products fresh. I especially like the funny napkins that are perfect for a special event or party. They're always a hit at our family Christmas parties! My only real complaint is I find the service very cold. Nobody smiles or greets you, everyone seems to be too busy restocking shelves to notice guests. Even when ordering food to go, there's very little customer service. I've been a few times in the last few months and unfortunately this always seems to be the case.

All staff members are polite and the owner walks by to make sure the customers are satisfied with the food and the service. It is one of my favorite lunch spots.

I really like the Italian Market but there are some things that need improving....service is slow and cumbersome. Today i ordered the roast beef sandwich...very little roast beef and absolutely smothered in yellow mustard...it was a mess. Dijon would have been so much better and there wasn't any lettuce as it stated on the board....some arugula would have worked and broiling it open faced would have made it more appealing. I was asked if I wanted it grilled but it was done in a panini press for far doing long...and now the whole thing was compressed which further brought to my attention...very little meat. Disapointing given the almost $10 price. I won't order it again. The vegetable lasagna is good but can be quite dry so I suggest you ask for some red sauce on top. Great selection of Italian groceries. They really need to think about how to expedite the ordering system. I waited standing up over 20 minutes just to receive a sandwich ???? and this is not the first time. Staff here are very nice to deal with....just a couple of things that can use revisiting. Italians are known for their generosity especially when food is involved...the food here does not represent what I have experienced at other Italian delis...disappointing but rectifiable.

The sandwiches are a great price for the quality that you get. Their Reuben sandwich is excellent. Their coffee is quite good, despite not explicitly being a coffee shop. They have some kitchen nick knacks that are frankly pretty pricey, but they're things I'm not interested in. It's their restaurant food and the assorted foodstuffs that you can buy in their aisles.

It's been over 20 years and to the casual observer not much has changed and that's a good thing. We're going to try the house prepared / cook at home pizzas and report back! The Italian Market is not be overlooked as a tasty spot for lunch, coffee and dessert.

Quite disappointed me and my husband ordered a variety of items it took forever for the order when we started eating it didn’t really taste the best it was not authentic by any means the cannolis were very bland dry the pastry was too thick and it tasted like burnt oil the rice balls we’re not seasoned properly the tomato sauce was very sharp and salty the Palini I ordered was supposed to be a mozzarella and pesto with sun-dried tomatoes what I ended up getting was a very cheap facsimile of a cheese tomato basil and balsamic vinegar the mozzarella and tomato salad the tomatoes look very washed out no colour very thick sliced and for some reason it looked like there was just Italian dressing poured on top not salt olive oil and balsamic vinegar very weird

A cozy place to have tasty dessert. It's a bit over priced. Have tried tiramisu and lemon cake from here and they really taste great. They do take orders for birthday cakes. Have good stuff from kitchen tools line.

Excellent service! They went out of their way to fulfill a last minute request for a cheese ordet so I could surprise a friend. The Struan bread was delicious. This will be a regular stop for my trips to Halifax.

Really good authentic Italian foods, knowledgeable staff and delicious deserts. The grocery section has a very wide selection of ingredients and goods like oils, truffles, pastas, sauces, etc. I was pleasantly surprised. Lots of parking as it's located in a plaza which is great considering that other places in Halifax are a bit more difficult to get to.

I found owner, Ron Marks, I believe is his name, to be very rude and unaccomodating when shopping at the establishment. Yesterday I saw A Mother’s Day gift baskets and asked if I could have one made if I cake back tomorrow and was told yes. Well, apparently 11am is “too late” in the day to ask for one to be made for tomorrow. I’ll take my business elsewhere I suppose.

Used to like this place, good products and food BUT last time I went there for brunch with my partner and 30 minutes after we finished BOTH of us had to run to the nearest washroom... I don't know for how long the food we got served had been sitting there but our stomachs didn't welcome the food at all.....

I love this little Italian market with its delicious delites and giftwares. Very knowledgeable staff whom have always been pleasant in their service. I am always on the lookout for the multi layered peppermint chocolate cake I enjoyed in the past but it seems that it has lost its place in the dessert display case. Please consider bringing it back for Christmas. ????It would be a wonderful addition to the case of dessert options. They are doing a good job controlling the patrons in their small space during these times of covid. Much appreciated and I always like to support our specialty stores during such a difficult time for small businesses. Cheers????

They treat their employees horribly and actually commit infractions against labour laws. I have no idea how they manage to escape being held responsible for what the owners do here and hope someone will eventually hold them responsible. Their employees try their hardest and do what they can, but the owners should not be business owners.

A great selection of food. The place was extremely busy. The service was a little slow, however this is most likely due to it being very busy, rather than a lack of service or servers. The food I ate was excellent!! I ate an excellent beef sandwich and grilled veg. I have been here several times and not been disappointed.

I used to love going to Italian Market as the sandwiches tasted amazing, even if they were a little expensive - however, after my experience today, I will not be going back. I was out today dropping off resumes for jobs, when I found an ad on Indeed that these guys were hiring. I had one last resume, so I decided to drop in and see if I could speak to a manager. It was busy, which truly I didn't think of, but I was there and decided that it couldn't hurt to just drop it off. I did ask to speak to the manager, and the employee was polite and said she'd go grab him. I didn't want to waste his time, so the first thing I said was "I don't want to keep you since it's busy, but I saw you were hiring". The manager looked at me and said "yes I'm very busy" and when he saw my resume, looked at me and said "you need to understand that if you want to work in this business you can't do this during lunch" and "I'm not going to take your resume", in an incredibly rude, condescending, and arrogant tone. Now, I've worked busy customer service jobs and any of my managers have either taken the resume or asked an employee to. I was actually taken aback, and told him that I wouldn't want to work for him anyway - if that's the way he talks to a stranger, I can't imagine how he treats his staff. Maybe I shouldn't have gone in at lunch, and that was an error on my part. But I'm shocked at the way he spoke to me, as if I was scum, and I won't be spending my money here any longer. And after seeing some other comments here about the way he treats his employees, I'm glad it turned out this way.

The Italian market is often busy and is in my opinion one of the best sources traditional Italian food. The take out food is phenomenal and is very competitively priced. I highly recommend the cold cut sandwich and the world's best club both were delicious.

Stopped by for a quick bite to eat. The food was great but the lemon pot de creme was to die for it was so tart and lemony! The service was also amazing especially Anthony who was so friendly and just all around a pleasure.

Variety of Italian products, gifts & foods, including vegetarian options. I fall in love with the smell of freshly baked bread & coffee every morning .. We live right across the street & my husband Lowrance & I can't start our days without their freshly made breakfast sandwiches. Highly recommended for those who love real home-cooked Italian food with a warm welcome at a friendly atmosphere.

Great spot. It's an interesting place a mix of shopping and dining. Location is good with plenty of parking. I can't speak much for that shopping experience but the dining was great. Staff was nice and the food was delicious. Prices were a bit high but considering the taste it was worth it.
