These guys have great quality products, I love their pride in featuring meat raised without hormones etc. One great feature is their map of the regional farms they source from and how everything in the display case is tagged to let you know which farm supplied it. I have bought Tomahawks, and ribeyes thus far, taste and quality is superb. Their prices are very competitive and they are really friendly....

Caprae & Suidae is a wonderful shop with the best quality meats I have ever had. Everything is fresh and organic and they have such a wide variety of options, which are not just limited to meat products. There aren’t any butcher shops in Toronto doing what Caprae and Suidae does - unique products and the most amazing customer service. Alfonso is a passionate and knowledgeable person. They put a lot of care into what they do and it shows, making the shopping experience one of a kind. Highly recommend making this an addition to your shopping routine for meats and other goodies!

Meats and produce are a little pricey here but the quality does justice. I’m a regular here and I highly recommend this place to any butcher shop on avenue. Way better quality and friendlier staff than Bruno’s down the road. Their pre marinade products are amazing! Bone marrow is also sold here which is great since I like to make bone marrow butter! Will be back again and again.

Love this place. Reasonable prices for grasses organic foods. Wonderful sevice. My son dropped something on the floor and broke it, even though I offered to pay for it they were being so nice about it and didn't let me pay for that. Wonderful selection and such a cute place. I visited Caprae & Suidae for the first time this morning. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. Alfonso introduced himself, along with Chris and Roxanne. We chatted about my new sous vide precision cooker and he told me they will vacuum seal cuts of meat for customers! The meats looked beautiful I can't wait to try the cuts I purchased today. I will definitely be back and will be switching from grocery store meats to my local family shop!

My favourite butcher. This store has such great meat. I especially love their truffle beef kebabs! I have tried many of their selections including beef, pork and chicken. All great. They also roast their own beef, turkey and ham and will make a sandwich for you in the store. There is also fresh burrata and ricotta which is still warm sometimes when you drop in. Recommend highly

I have been going there occasionally and like the store. Only a couple of butchers have masks on today and the rest of the staff are chatting with each other. I was shocked - we are in the middle of the pandemic and we have almost 900 new cases today. It tells you how unprofessional they are!

Small shop but they got everything you need. Been there twice now and both visit I got some really beautiful stuff. Excellent rib steaks and just last night, some amazing veal chops. Don’t waste your time and money at Bruno’s or Pusateries. They over charge for the end cuts that look well marbled, but any good eye can see that it’s all sinew. Will be back (a lot) to Caprae & Suidae!

Still haven't come to a full verdict on this place. Need to sample a few more meats. However, much of the selection is pre marinated. Not ideal for seeing the meat. Some stores (probably not this one) use it as a technique to sell meat that's close to bad. Ground beef was okay, but only available in lean, not medium or extra lean. Hot Italian sausage was sub par as compared to brunos, pusateri's and Rea. Better than the grocery store big packs. Beef selection is reasonably limited. Would prefer a broader selection of beef cuts and some fresh chicken breast that aren't prepackaged.

Just pulled a homemade Lasagna from C&S out of the oven. It is superb! We do not always buy the premade food as we are so addicted to the awesome meats and chicken we buy here. But I have to make a special shout out to mama's Lasagna, the flavours are perfect and the noodles just cooked to perfection. SOOO GOOOD!

I went in to buy eggs and when I saw the wonderful selection of meats, I decided to try a steak - grass-fed, hormone free, etc. WOW!!!! It was beyond delicious. The service was excellent, the owner came over to talk to me and he is so enthusiastic about his products. I was sold a litre of water mixed with beef sediments for $8.99, that was labelled as bone broth. When I spoke to the cook about it, his reasoning was that it is typically used as a base. I’ve been in the restaurant industry for almost 10 years and I’ve never seen a ‘base’ that looks like that. Caprae & Suidae, please review your business ethics, or learn how to make a true bone broth. There are plenty of websites that instruct on how to make a good broth, and describe what it should look and taste like. If you’re unwilling to commit to the process, please do not falsely market haphazard products in the hopes of making a quick buck - it reflects very poorly on the rest of the business. On the whole, the business does seem to carry very quality looking meats in a hygienic and fashionable arrangement. If you’d like to sell bone broth, please invest the time into making a quality product. The world doesn’t need anymore corner-cutters.

Super helpful and knowledgeable butchers; don’t see what you want, just ask. Boneless leg of lamb; coming up! Some beef short ribs? No problem. 3 inch porterhouse; sure! Quality is always top notch. Mostly sourced locally; best lamb in Toronto, and that includes Ellias on Danforth. Price is same as every other quality butcher, if not just a touch less (Bruno’s, Pusateri, Cumbrea/Stock). These guys are the best.

Fantastic shop with delicious seasoned and prepared local meats. The chicken burgers are our favorite. Also, great selection of cheese and cured meats. Excellent customer service. Highly recommend. We are so lucky to have this store near us.

Visited today for the first time omg, wow so friendly so informed,bought the french marinated lamb chops, I was in heaven!, cooked it a few minutes a side ,best lamb I have ever eaten! also tried the honey garlic short ribs again delicious, definitely try it and I agree with other viewers superior to Pusateris whom I have been a customer since they opened!I also bought the truffle marinated veal chop cant wait to try it

Excellent store and has been my go to spot for the past couple of years. It's hard to find a butcher (let alone any retailer) that offers high quality products, excellent service and reasonable pricing. I used to be a customer at Cumbraes years ago until I started going here. Way better than Brunos and Pusetaris for quality and pricing. Can't rave enough about this store.

Caprae & Suidae is a must stop on my Friday morning grocery shopping circuit. Their products are fresh, reasonably priced and clean (organic, raised without hormones or antibiotics). Their sliced Black Forest ham tastes (and looks) far superior to that bought in packing from the grocery store, which tends to be slimy. Their skinless, boneless chicken breasts are tastier and the prepackaged turkey and beef burgers are fresh and flavourful. The meat here will win over the pickiest of eaters! You will pay more for the meat than at a regular grocery store but the quality of the product is noticeably higher, which is worth it in my mind. They sell fresh baguettes from Ace Bakery as well as other breads and buns, snacks, pickled veggies, olive oils, maple syrups, etc. - all organic and certified non-GMO. The staff are friendly and helpful. The store is clean and neat. We enjoy the food from Caprae & Suidae happy and guilt-free, knowing that we are eat food of the highest quality.
