Great deals. I rummage through the freezer every time I go here. Great quality products from sausages to short ribs. Staff is on point and friendly. Even purchase my eggs from here. Don't forget to grab some Pepperoni for a chew on the way home.

This is a great butcher shop with a good selection & pleasent, friendly staff. It is a place from a time back in the good old days where the staff knows the locals & is welcoming to new customers! It's all in the namesake....Rio Friendly Meats! They have awesome deals generaly displayed in the front window & 1 of my faves are their corn breaded cutlets.

Awesome place to buy meat from. I love buying my meat and cheese there. Great prices on their specials and fantastic customer service all the time. This is how service should be everywhere. Keep it up guys and you will have me as a customer for a long time.

This place is friendliness personified. Once I dropped my debit card and it went under a fridge and two guys rushed out from behind the counter to lift said fridge so I could retrieve it. Their lamb burgers and chipotle sausages are tasty, and their marinated chicken is great for an affordable quick dinner.

Great customer service My only concern is that I want to buy my meat from ethical farmers and not sure where they get their products from I did ask at the counter and they said the beef was local but didn't say where. Does anyone know ?

We’ve been shopping at Rio Friendly for years now and can’t say enough good things about the people and the place. Jim, Ed and their extended family provide fantastic service. They know half the shoppers by name, and carry a mix of conventional, organic and halal products. They gladly do special orders for unusual requests and custom cuts of meat. They also carry some pet food grade products at great prices.

I come here often for all my butcher needs. The best part about Rio friendly meats is the staff, they are friendly, knowledgeable, and are able to help out if I need something special. My dogs love it whenever I come here because they usually have some great dog treats such as their cooked marrow bones.

This place is a bit pricey, but the meat quality is good. It also has great deals for cheese, and my dog really loves the roasted beef bones. This is also the only place around where you can get skirt steaks which are delicious.

Love this place but unfortunately they have a sign up saying 3 customers at a time and no mask policy. The shop is so narrow that you can’t social distance, which I’m pretty sure violates what the government is continually asking us all to do. If they put in place a no mask, no service policy or drop it down to one customer at a time, I’ll gladly put this review up to five stars. Come on guys get it together, I’d like to come back and shop here!

Fantastic family run butcher shop with very high quality meats and often great deals on dairy products too. Sure it's a bit more $ than the local supermarket but if you care about what you eat and are swayed by quality rather than price then this is the place to shop. Also the apple pies are just delicious

One of my favourite places to fry a ribeye steak, because you know it will always be a quality cut. And for the ground sirloin, you won’t find a better meat to make home made burgers with... very minimal shrinkage after cooking. And the name says it all, always friendly service at this butcher shop. The owner served me last time and threw in a free reusable bag and a calendar which was a nice treat. Also I got some butcher bacon to make a bacon wrapped meat loaf. Some of the best bacon I’ve ever had, well worth the price.

To be honest. When you are outside. The place is unassuming. And I'm glad it is. I've been going here for years and wouldn't want it to get any busier than they already are. The staff are amazing and teriyaki short ribs. My word. Thick cut, just the right amount of marbling, fat to meat ratio. Best short ribs in the city imo and at a great price. I hope they stay busy enough so that all the staff and owners make a good living but stay true to what they are. Great people, great prices and great quality.

Rio is magnificent! Their fresh sausages are absolutely unbeatable (without gluten & preservatives) and the staff are top notch. We live several hours away and stock up when we're in the area to keep us going between visits. Nothing we've tried between here and there comes close to a match.

Friendly neighbourhood butcher but they seriously need to get their Covid protocol’s in order. None of the staff wearing masks on my recent visit as well as in store customers without masks. Sales clerk handling meat with same plastic glove used for handling cash.

So this is my first bad review, ever. I walk into Rio, and am not greeted, okay fine they look busy but I did make eye contact with one of the ladies- so I should have been greeted. I wait for 2-3 minutes for my turn. Then a white guy walks in (I'm an Indigenous woman) and he is greeted SO GREAT and is offered help IMMEDIATELY. I had a feeling this would happen. I stormed out and walk to Windsor Meats and am greeted immediately and helped with the respect I deserve. The same respect Rio gave that guy who walked in AFTER me. So you know, I'm trying to support a family owned business, but instead of me being served or even greeted, I'm completely ignored, like as if I'm invisible. This isn't the first time I felt like this at Rio (invisible) but I like to give the benefit of the doubt. So, I won't be returning, and I encourage everyone, especially if you're BIPOC- go to Windsor Meats if you want to be treated with the respect and customer service you deserve. I wish I could give a zero star. Super disappointed in Rio "Rude" Meats. ???? do better, be better. Sincerely, A hastings-sunrise community member.
