Owners must read: came to Pilliteri for a quick wine tasting on our way back home and we were introduced to Shawn. He is extremely knowledgeable in the science of wine making. We were blown away at his passion for sharing in full detail each wines story. So much so we confidently bought there 100$ flagship wine. Thanks so much! Shawn is worth his weight in gold and in wine. Merry Christmas to the family at Pilliteri
We had a really nice time on our wine tour experience at Pilliteri. Angelo was our host. He was just great! We enjoyed his tour, giving us all the knowledge as to how the winery became to be. Very interesting story. Even though it was raining, we were offered umbrellas. The tasting room was mask-free and we were able to try anything we really wanted too. There were 4 of us. We spent alot $$ there on some red wine, rose sparkling(dry,) a wooden box with ice wine and it came with 2 glasses. Over $200.00, we were offered a free ice wine. Angelo and the wine were the best part. The only downfall is that there is No elevator. So if you have a walker, cane or other mobility aid, it is not advisable as there are many stairs on the tour. When reserving, telephone operators should advise people of this fact when booking. She's 87 and it was a definite struggle. Wine tasting? No struggle. Thank you Angelo!
Unbelievable hospitality. Our tour guide Angelo was very knowledgeable, accommodating and patient. The tasting experience was absolutely perfect!
Had a great tasting experience at Pillitteri. Had the opportunity to try four wines each at a price of $20 per person. The check in was quick (was pre-registered), and quick seat. There's a choice of 3 different sets of wine containing four each - with an optional set for a hefty upgrade. The wines were great - we had the Experimental Flight. The white racina barrel-aged chardonnay was really good (not typically a white wine drinker) while both the reds cabernet melot and syrah were on point. Would definitely recommend, and would enjoy coming back. Only small problem was the seating, was basically seated at a wine barrel which was very small and difficult to fit wines and any foods.
This is my second time visiting the first time was last year during the pandemic when they did not have any wine tasting or tours available this time I came back and I was able to get the tour and experience the restaurant next door called barrelhead. Such a lovely estate they are very kind and friendly you can roam and take pictures they're also very informative. Shout out to Sean who was our tour guide and wine taster he was very kind and shout out to Tatiana who was our server at barrelhead we had a very good time. The tour and wine tasting was $30 per person which is very reasonable
Discovered Pillitteri on the way to Niagara on the Lake with my family from the GTA. Did a tasting - amazing icewine - and the atmosphere, live music and wood oven pizza at the restaurant Barrelhead in the cherry orchard was amazing. A must-visit.
Fantastic tour with our guide Jacob! He was super knowledgeable and entertaining. Really educational and amazing what the Pillitteri family has done. Beautiful estate winery and with some amazing wines. Highly recommend it!
The Pilliteri Winery is an amazing experience! First off, their customer service and customer experience during the pandemic is exceptional. We were looking to do wine tasting the day after Christmas, and they were very helpful and honest about the process, unlike some other wineries in the area. The wine tasting experience itself was the best I've had! We had a group of 6, and each person was allowed to choose their own set of wines to taste. They have amazing reds and ice wines that are just divine! I highly recommend this winery for your next wine tasting experience. Will definitely come back and do the tour as well!
Really great experience. The restaurant was really amazing and pizza was really good. Everyone was wearing masks and all social distancing was followed. The winery also had lots of hand sanitizer stations which is really good!
Pillitteri was more than a half dozen wineries into our self planned tour of the region. Our experience was lacklustre from the start — a crowded waiting area, coupled with a disinterested looking front clerk was not a good start to the …
Came here for the pizza and stayed for a wine tasting. Pizza was amazing! Wines were good too. There's nothing pretentious about this place which made for a great fun vibe and service was top notch. Ended up buying some rose to take home.
Great experience. Wood-fired pizza was amazing. We were smart and ordered just one between 2 of us, because it was a lot. …
This is our all time favourite winery in the Niagara region. We had a tour here and the manager was so amazing. He took us around, answered ALL the questions we had, and then ended the experience with some tasting. We will be back very soon for more wine!
Great family owned winery. Wine is amazing and everyone is very friendly. The tour is interesting and more affordable than most in the area.
This was one of the best tastings and winery to buy from- we have been to a total of 15 wineries and have compared prices and quality. At first from the outside this place didn’t look all that but don’t judge the book by its cover! We went inside and were shocked to see how nice it was. It was also the official sponsor of Team Canada ???????? for the Olympics. We tried their wines and even got a bottle of Gewürztraminer Riesling to take back and that bottle was less than $14!! On top of that the tasting was free because we bought a bottle but the wine definitely was extremely good quality for the price!
My girlfriends and I had a great time on a half day wine tour on Saturday. The Pillitteri Estates Winery was definitely the favourite of the 3 we visited. I bought the Cabernet Franc, but I regret not purchasing the rosé too. I'll definitely have to stock up next time and stay for the apparently legendary pizza!!! I plan on booking a wine tour with my boyfriend and another couple in the fall, so I hope we can come back to this one! Andrew was our guide there, and he was awesome!! Hands down, he was the funnest guide I've had out of all the wineries I have ever visited. He was very informative and absolutely hilarious!! Excellent wine selection too, 10/10 would recommend ????
We had a great tour and tasting today Our guide, Jacob was awesome. He was very knowledgeable about the wines and wine making process as well as the history of the company. He made the tour so much more enjoyable with his great sense of humour and interesting stories. Of all the wineries that we visited, I enjoyed the Pillitteri wines the most. Would highlt recommend.
We love this place… our wine tasting was a grateful experience thanks to Britney very nice job and super helpful and kind. The barrel head Pizza restaurant was outstanding food delicious and savoury and always with a nice cup of wine. Definitely we recommend it!!!!
They have an amazing team. Great explanations. A lovely collection of tasting options to choose from. Loved their red ice wine. A must visit. 3rd vist. Simply WoW. Looking forward to visit 4
This place is a must visit for the Niagara wine tours/visits. They make the best ice wine in the region, they have a fantastic selection. Connor has helped us through the tour and wine tasting several times and he makes the difference. Very knowledgeable, kind and overall a great person. If you can request a tour or tasting with him.....do it!!! This place is great and we will definitely be back. Their pizza patio is also an awesome touch, definitely recommend this after their tours!!
Girls Weekend -- Absolutely loved it, especially the ice wine, tried it, it was amazing Nick who brought us our flights he was great and gave us an insight on the wines we were trying. I would highly recommend Pillitteri Estate Winery to anyone who has never tried a winery before and doesn't know what to expect will definitely go back again ????????????
Coming here on a Monday morning was a pleasant surprise. We had the entire patio to ourselves. Our host was happy to chat with us and walk us through every wine in great detail. …
We came to Pillitteri winery to celebrate a friends birthday and did the wine flight tasting. Jacob was our server and did a phenomenal job of providing our group with knowledge and advice on some of the more unique wines. Would recommend and ask for Jacob!
Stopped for a quick bite and the food was amazing. Had the thin crust capricciosa pizza with premium toppings. If you’re in the area and looking for a pizza I highly recommend stopping here.
We had a 6 person tasting appointment booked on Sunday and we were placed into one of the nicely renovated private rooms. Our wine guide, Bryan, made visit such a great experience! I highly recommend visiting them if you're in Niagara on the lake.
Had an amazing lunch and tried some drinks. The pizza was delicious and their Peach Mule was quick yummy.
Visited Barrel Head at Pillitteri and the service here was remarkable! The pizza was excellent and drinks amazing. I would definitely recommend the ice wine cocktails! As we were leaving they even gave us complimentary cherries picked from the trees on their property.
Beautiful winery. We enjoyed the Pinot2 Rose and The Exclamation Merlot. Their pizza is also a must try. The young lady suggested we do a margarita pizza with soppressata. It definitely won us over.
A very lovely place. Really Good wine. Very nice staff. Overall a very cute small winery.
By far, the best winery on my tour with Niagara Day Tours. And they're the official wine for Team Canada at the Olympics! Just wish I didn't buy so much wine at the other stops. The quality of even the cheapest wines here is amazing. They also offer a permanent running deal on ice wines: buy 5 bottles, get the 6th free! The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The wine tasting was well organized and private. Great experience! Will return for sure!
Started our wine tour with Pillitteri Estates today and bar far was the best and most personal wine tour. Sean/Shawn was gifted to provide us his first ever tour and blew it out of the park! A student learning the craft was able to share his knowledge with us and showed his passion behind the whole operation at Pillitteri. If you’re looking to learn something new about wine, try some great wines, and see a true Italian family owned/shared business. This is a must stop. Cheers!
Great atmosphere and nice music to dine to. I give 5 stars for the pizza at Barrelhead - their on-site outdoor restaurant. Skip the Diavolo pizza as the meat was saltier than a salt lick! Dropped a star from the review because they charge a cork fee for their own wine. It would make sense to charge the fee for non-Pillitteri bottles!
Pillitteri has the best red wine in town! Combine the wine with the delish Barrel Head pizza, throw in awesome servers and …
This by far the best winery we have visited so far. Our tour guide Connor is what made the difference. His knowledge to the whole process of the winemaking and the history of how the winery began added to the experience. Also he was instrumental in our tasting experience. He took the time to explain the differences between the wines and tips and tricks when selecting wines. Wellt definitely be visiting this winery more often.
This winery is special. Brooke gave us one of the best tasting experiences I've had in the Niagara region. She was funny, knowledgeable and got us out of our comfort zone. The wine was delicious and the owner was also very kind. Definitely be back. -Cody Brooke was exceptional! Her attention to the particular tastes and pallets of her guests made for a wholly unique and vibrant experience in Niagara. -Hayley
We had such an amazing experience with this tour, all thanks to Angelo, our tour guide. Beautiful estate, very interesting, great wines, and Angelo made sure to personalize our experience. He also has a beautiful singing voice (that we got to enjoy once he learned that we were celebrating a birthday and an engagement). What a wonderful man. He made our tour memorable. Thank you so much.
We went on a wine tasting. We were staying 3 days to explore the town. The staff at the winery were very helpful. My partner is an expert on wine, I am not:)) We got placed with Angelo for our wine tasting. His knowledge and passion quickly became apparent. We laughed, shared stories and his enthusiasm was very evident. We could not have asked for a better person. My knowledge and respect of Pilitteri was enhanced. Angelo added a lot of fun into our day. Bravo!
I have never written a bad review before but in this case I could not give an endorsement to Pillitteri Estates. In fact giving one star is too high a rating.. I placed an online order two weeks ago for a case of wine, fully expecting shipment within that period, as the wine was needed for a planned event. When this shipment was not received within 10 days I emailed Pilliterri explaining my situation, they replied saying I should have it within 2 or 3 days, I have not gotten it yet, so I called them. I have now been told I will not be receiving it when required. I said I could not use it so cancel the shipment and give me a credit. In their words, this cannot be done. I have the option to receive the wine then ship it back, so the onus is on me. I plan to refuse shipment and am now going to call Visa to try and cancel this transaction. Lesson learned, I usually do not order online and will not likely do so in the future. I warn others to beware when ordering online from Pilliterri. within 10
Came here for just a wine tasting and had a good time. Not too crowded or busy and the servers were attentive. Wine was good as well. Would definitely recommend as a stop if you are doing different wine tastings in the area.
Super good late vintage wine at a really good price. We also eat a good pizza with music and wine. Its a must to go before you leave the Niagara-on-the-Lake region.
Was initially abandoned by our server but Brian came in and realized we hadn’t been served and made up for the poor start. Great wine tasting experience with a beautiful facility, and Brian taking the time to explain the different wines. Brian, thank you! And then we had the delicious wood fire pizza on the patio after our tasting - best pizza I’ve had in a while. will 100% be returning and recommending to friends.
I wish I could have left 0 stars for this place. Very disappointing experience! Feels like we gotten ripped off! They require payment for wine tasting experience. Unfortunately, we couldn't make it to the tasting because one of the group …
I've been to over 20 wineries in Ontario and this is my least favourite. We sat down for our tasting and were not served for a while. After seeing others who came after us being served we approached the staff at the bar who questioned whether we had checked in, which we had. Service was prompt after that, however they didn't seem to know anything about the wine and only used the words "dry" and "sweet". The wine itself is mediocre, albeit priced appropriately.
Connor was our guide for the tour and tasting. I cannot say enough good things about his passion and knowledge for this winery. It’s a wonderful Family run winery and it’s shows in the product. Excellent wines and beautiful facility. We will definitely be back. Thank you again Connor.
This winery produces great wine! One of the oldest in the region, this winery started as a fruit market over 50 years ago. Today it is one of the most sophisticated wineries in the region. Inside the nondescript buildings is a unique wine facility. They have dug a huge basement into the limestone, where the barrels are aged in a natural controlled environment. The fruit market still is part of the winery, and you can get a good variety of local produce here. A great place to visit for tasting, and wine touring.
We visited this past weekend on a wine tour. It was our favourite of the 5 wineries we visited, and our tour guide even told us that it was one of his personal favorites. We enjoyed the wines so much that we returned the next day to buy …
Wine tasting process is super enjoyable. The staff running it are just so attentive, friendly and patient. Same for the store folks. Thanks for a great visit!
First weekend back from Lockdown. We had a tour booked and the winery was quit busy. Connor was our guide and was outstanding!! Friendly and very knowledgeable. Our tasting was awesome. Overall it was a fantastic time. The wine was off the hook. I love their Reds!!! Mr Pillitteri was wondering around as well and stopped to chat for a few minutes. Very humble and friendly gentleman. This is a must do for anyone visiting the area!!
Had a really great time here. Worth it to book a VIP tour and our tour guide Andrew was amazing. He made us feel part of the Pillitteri family. We ended up touring on the day of a wedding and they were super generous with their portions. Highly recommend for a good time!!
From the moment we arrived we felt unwelcome with my service dog. Employees automatically assumed it was a pet even after showing proof which was insulting and frustrating. Unfortunately they do not know the proper way to handle such cases and should really take the time to educate all staff members especially the hostess. Based on the horrible greeting, we decided not to take a tour/tasting and just grabbed a quick bite. Thankfully our server was great and the Prosciutto e Funghi pizza was delicious.
