To this day this business receives a rating of 4.5 stars over 5 and this score has been calculated on 127 reviews.
As you can read, it reaches an opinions average is practically the top, and it is founded on a large number of scores, so we can think that the evaluation is very faithful. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they are happy, it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to give feddbacks when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Butcher Shop belongs to the category of Farmers' market.
Very charming old structure with a lot of vendors inside; great Korean, freshest seafood, and coffee!
Not as was exoected...too much expensive ..thight i would get some fresh fish but no hope
It's always great and refreshing to take a walk in city market, its ambience, and the mixed smell of all kinds of food is just great.
My friends and I were looking for last-minute souvenirs. One of us noticed this place on the tourist map. Even though it was Sunday, many of the vendors we're open to accommodate the passengers of a docked cruise ???? ship. It is worth the experience.
Lovely city market with nice shops and restaurants. Four stars because I miss the Asian market that used to be there.
I got some great food products and the Wild Carott was delicious!
Lots of fantastic food options and fresh groceries. A great place to go to find gifts or unique items.
Interesting place. If you have been to Fanueil hall market place in Boston then you have an idea of what this place is like. Then add in groceries.
Wonderful vendors, lots of unique options for food and gifts
Nice old market, always alot of amazing deals and things to see. Downside while I was there , many of the long time table have closed and are sitting empty. I hope they fill up again soon
I don't have words to say systematic arrangements inside like a dream of paradise
You can find great fresh and healthy food here, I would recommend to anyone!
The oldest market in NB, this has a great variety of original artists as well as food.
Always bright in this beautiful old space. I love to see what new vendors are here. There are several really nice, small restaurants you can get lunch from as well!
Pricier groceries in exchange for convenience, food's overpriced and average. It's a lovely place structurally otherwise. Great place for preventing frostbite!
The market was much smaller than I had hoped. Most items can be found in a regular super market. Quaint and fun, but I expected more unique items.
This City Market is a must-see. It is Canada's oldest and is filled with wonderful food and history. This an excellent spot for great lunches.
Love the City Market. Great selection of vendors. So much history attached to this building. It's a "must see" for anyone visiting Saint John.
One of the best markets I've visited. Great selection, good food and a wonderful atmosphere.
Great food. Must try the Korean food, organic juices and lobster rolls
Fun place to visit, very interesting history. Neat shopping, and unique finds. (we enjoyed the butchers daughter, pottery store)
I love the Saint John City Market especially around Christmas time. It has old fashioned in its very roots. The sights and smells. Fresh balsam fir boughs, wreaths, fresh seafood and meat, old historical favorite deli's and new coffee counters. Its a magical spot.
I enjoyed my salad and chowmein noodle cookie. Many booths are not in use currently.
All sorts of vendors who has a variety of merchandise to meet your needs. Quite the historic building. A place worth visiting.
I felt like in my country. Small but cozy.
Great place to have lunch, went to a small place called “Naan-ya Business” which was great for having vegan options. Probably due to COVID there weren’t as many vendors, but it is a fun place to look around for 20-30 minutes.
Probably not best time of year to visit the market. It was ok but not much happening there right now in January.
Love it. They had several freash vegetables and fruits and local sea food restaurant.
One of my favourite places to grab a bite to eat or to get grocery items. I always go to Slocum & Ferris for their breakfast sandwich, North Market Seafood for their organic salmon, Pete's Frootique for their fresh smoothies, Jeremiah's Deli for samosas and sandwiches or Kim's Korean Food for their bibimbap. There is so much that you can enjoy at this market. Also CHECK OUT THE AWESOME OUTDOOR NIGHT MARKET! They started it in the spring of 2019. Every Thursday 5-10 pm.
I visited the Saint John City Market last year around the end of November and loved seeing all of the Christmas decor in the market. it still has the old feel of the original, but with modern restaurants and vendors. Definitely worth checking out!
Stopped here during a shore excursion. They said it was the longest operating market in Canada. Not bad, but it is just a market and wasn't very large. Did get a coffee at the Java Moose in the back, which was good. Unfortunately, the exterior of the building was being restored during our visit and we couldn't see the pretty brick exterior.
One of my favourite markets. Happy to see they are getting busier now that Covid restrictions are lifted.
The Market is fantastic. Great sandwiches at Jeremiah's and the Shawarma place is very good as well
Great selection of local produce and fast food places with traditional foods
Very cool place with local crafts and foods. A must-see when visiting Saint John!
I always find wonderful people here. Everyone is super helpful and kind. I enjoy going to get vegetables at Pete's Fruitique. There are always veggies on sale and it makes for a quick and easy dinner.
My Grandfather and I would take the train to Saint John on the 70's and we would visit the City Market. 40 years later...I still enjoy going.
Smells delicious, and for the very vendors that are open you have lots of things to choose from. Whether it's artisan crafts, ethnic foods or even European candy and soda pops. Just wish they had more vendors with a larger variety of things and stuff.
great spot to get fresh meat veggies and seafood and all kinds of nice spots to eat
I went before noon so everything wasn't open. Not all businesses accept debit/credit so bring some cash with you.
I visit this market every time i'm in Saint John, try the Sisters Italian Restaurant, you will not be disappointed.
It’s a good place to learn new things and busy stuff that u want ???? So you need to go and see what they have!!
Needs more men's clothing stores in the whole mall not just market sq there is next to nothing for men!!!!!!
The city market is amazing. It's one of the few buildings standing from before the great fire of 1887. There are tonnes of little shops and amazing eats. I highly recommend visiting.
More hype than anything. Nothing interesting. More touristy. Not here if looking for authenticity.
Found a great gift for expectant parents... custom-made by a local artisan. Plus reversible kids' raincoats. So cool. Checkout The Bakery Stone.... the cannolis!!!
Nothing special, regular market place, much smaller than I have expected. Worth going though . They sell nice souvenirs there.
Amazing historic building with great crafts and fresh food.
It was okay but small
Our walking tour started here with fresh lobster rolls! Beautiful building. Expensive Reno but wirth it. A must stop in Saint John
I am a big fan of markets like this and I wish I had gotten to explore all the others! Anyways...City Market kin dof reminds me of Quincy Market in Boston, except that CM is a little bit smaller and is more of a market than food court. I wish I lived here because I would buy my meat, cheeses, deli items and produce here. All of the prices were very decent as well, coming from a smart shopper who knows prices for everything!
Before covid it was the best! Family loved coming to the city to go there. Its slowed down considerably with conditions but hoping it picks up again soon :-)
Cozy place, similar to St. Lawrence market in Toronto, but cleaner and less crowded. Don't come if you have Bofa, the cats don't like it here.
Such a cute spot to stop! Iots of variety for food, snacks and Arts and crafts. Cute spot in the middle of the city
Absolutely love this market. You get the market mojo as soon as you walk in. I was a little disappointed on my recent visit as there were many empty stalls, but i understand its probably because of covid,
You must go there! Put it on your bucket list! Went in the morning for low tide, walked on the ocean floor. Then back at high tide to see the amazing transformation. Some folk think this kind of stuff "just happens."
Good food at affordable prices. Best places are Sister's, Jeremiah's, Kim's Korean and Shawarma
The oldest original indoor market in Canada. A must visit for tourists and locals alike.
It's the perfect place to find local vendors
A great place for visitors and locals alike. I go there to grab pizza or a coffee usually, but have bought Xmas presents and steaks for supper. Everything you want and beautiful too.
Kim's Korean food is incredible and the schwarma hut is fantastic. It's all locally owned and operated small businesses. It's the greatest part of Saint John
Not like other city markets I have been to. It kind of struck me as a place for cruise ship visitors. It was interesting with some local art, crafts and specially foods.
Hadn't been there in years, was a lot different. A few mt stalls, not a great variety of shopping choices although all the ones there are of fine quality. Was looking forward to having a typical breakfast and there was none to be found, a bit disappointing. Seems to be a lack of marketing and advertising for the market. I imagine the economy is a major factor also.
Always have to come here whenever I'm in town. Great atmosphere.
Perfect place for coffee, pastry, lunch or fresh fruits and vegetables. Don't miss this small and charming market.
Beautiful place for people's to go eat, or shop around, plus it is a beautiful historical building
Lots of fun. Not many vendors... Most of the place is filled with sell fruits and veggies, which is nice but that means that there isn"t much room for other vendors. A few dessert places, a few knickknack places. Fun overall!
Love love LOVE the market, local vendors and a great experience going there.
Neat little market with lots of local food and arts. Worth stopping by
Just purchased a home in the Uptown area and was exploring the market. Looks like an amazing resource for the area. Can't wait to get settled in.
Fun to shop. Bought a jar of maple spread and maple cookies.
Beautiful old city market with all the charming offerings you would expect. Art, fresh produce, fantastic prepared food from multiple different vendors from different cultures as well as the traditional east coast flavour. Wonderful place to spend some time in the heart of uptown Saint John.
Love the Market! Worked at a couple places in there before they put in heat!
Overpriced items and crowded with zombie tourists..not very helpful staff..shop the sidestreets for better products at better prices
What a colourful sight!!!! I will visit again soon!!
Love shopping? Love local? Love great food? Well if you're like me and answered yes to all of these questions then the city market is the place for you, as long as its before 6pm because this placed is closed early and not open Sundays. Totally worth the trip.
Not a big fan of saint john, but man I love the market!! It is a great place to stop in when you're in the area.
Nice looking market but unfortunately our tour arrived late so we were only able to look inside
What a great place people are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is a blast from the past. Looking at the products is just as good as looking at the architectural design
Great variety of all sort of fresh products including Lobster Rolls...
Nice variety of vendors in an historic building. Meats, maple syrup, restaurants. Great place to visit.
Always worth a stroll. A variety of local food and craft stalls, local artists work, etc. Fresh meat and seafood, bakery, veggies are available here.
Such an axing space with so much history. Great produce sold by really nice people.
This place is great for locals and visitors alike. All the groceries, takeout or trinkets you'd ever need.
Been going there since I was a kid. Miss some of the old shops, but there are some interesting new ones are
Returned to the market after several years absence and was very disappointed to discover it had become "sanitized". Unlike most "markets" when we arrived at 10AM most stalls where just opening, most of the produce was the same stuff you could buy at any grocery store, most of the souvenirs where not locally made. The ambience was just very sanitized or "corporate". Looked like they where set up to fleece the cruise ship passengers...
Great place. Loaded with history and al kinds of vendors. Excellent food if that is what you are looking for.
Amazing market to visit and shop.
Kind of sad what is happening to a staple our our society from just 20 years ago when everyone went to the indoor mall for so many things including socializing with others but since the cell phone has come along socializing in person is almost gone. The kids today don't know what they are missing out on.
Awesome place. You can find anything here and I mean just about anything. Very historic place.
Great spot to visit in the city. Lots of produce and local gems.
friendly vendors, yummy food choices, unique art, wish there were less empty stalls
We go to the market on Saturdays to pickup the speciality foods from the vendors that are only there that day of the week. We enjoy the variety of foods offered.
Great place to buy fresh vegetables. Eat your favourite food. We can get java moose coffee. Tandoori naan. Chinese , korean, and sea food here. People who work here work with a smile on their face and polite to help you always. I love visiting here to buy veggies and spend my time when free. You can even buy collectables for local shop. You can get canvas painting and show pieces for gifting your relatives here.
It was not clear which stalls were open and which closed. We bought some samosas in one of the stalls but they were cold!!! ????????????????
Always a great experience in the Market, regardless of where I take my business, be it prepared food, treats, grocery items or more.
One of the few busy places in Saint John, there is a lot of vendors with a variety of items for sell. Kind of a farmers market feel, so it can be a little messy.
Plenty of interesting shops, vendors and a variety of things to see...
Great market in downtown Saint John, NB. Lots of great places to eat as well as homemade foods and handmade crafts.
A great local market with a lot of history and interesting things to check out. The craftwork is interesting and definitely local in style and the food is excellent and diverse. This is the place it go to get truly local produce and the seafood available is just fantastic.
Visit the HEAPS booth for some creative and punny souvenirs. They have an online shop and can ship to you as well. The baby clothes from the vendor in the corner are great as well!
Nothing in there really struck my fancy. I was looking for some nice gifts and it was a lot of chinzy stuff at a high price. The building's architecture was more interesting than what was actually inside.
We always find time to visit the market when home for a visit. The sounds and smells are a must for anyone visiting uptown Saint John.
It was good the bakery was amazing and the lobster tails were delicious
This Market has everything fresh and the people are great to deal with.
Indoor farmers market. Amazing food good shopping. Historic atmosphere
Great place and great prices for local produce, meat and crafts
Went there when it was a lunch rush.Place is really small and during the lunch time it was packed and people had a long line. There are some spots for lease. It is little bit a pricey as well
Cute market with a variety of vendors. Pretty empty in terms of customers though, considering we went on a Saturday morning. The banners hanging from the ceiling were nice.
All businesses are back. Fun place to just look around, get some lunch, ect. Awesome food, some good deals. Beautiful building. Good space to sit and eat
One of our most popular historical places to visit to shop and eat. Many varietiess of stalls to enjoy, although there has recently been a few stalls closing there are still many to choose from. The only market here. You will enjoy stroll through.
Great places to eat and a lot of fresh produce. I love coming here daily
Historic market with a variety of local produce and seafood, antiques, and necessities. Boat ceiling is very cool!
Wonderful food stands, gorgeous and adorable local art throughout! Everything from fresh produce, house plants & succulents, seafood, fresh bread to glass keepsakes, pottery, photography, etc. We highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!
A nice market place. Good snack and washroom stop. Free street parking around the park.
Diversity of products, food, restaurants, arts, etc nice place to visit and enjoy.
Nice unique place to visit when in St. John. Nice architecture looking up.
Loved the variety of vendors and they let you sample before you buy.
A must stop in St John, get this British atmosphere. Vendors very kind and chatty
Amazing place, friendly staff, clean and nice place for family You can find a lot of good things in their unique
A great permanent market in the downtown core. Had a nice time strolling through here a couple of times today. Will definitely be back. You can find all sorts of crafts, but also many varieties of food. Deli, Indian, Italian, Mediterranean, vegetarian and more. I had the baked ham sandwich from Jeremiah's. I'll be back. The staff there were exceptional. Can't wait to try other things there while I'm in town.
Really great downtown central market very busy and active
Tried to purchase a loaf of bread and the owner yelled at my mom because of her ‘bad english’. Very poor service. I did not expect to get yelled at someone when just trying to purchase a loaf of bread. Never come to this place, there will be plenty of other stores that can provide you with better service and price. Do not waste your time and money here.
Nice public market in the middle of town. Fairly easy parking within a short walk.
Best Market in the City. Wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables. Great place to pick up trinkets and home made items. Also an awesome place to see some of the great talent of local artist.
Market is ok, local crafts and such, some vintage finds as well. Food vendors are the highlight, the Korean food is worth returning time and time again for.
I love the market... But was disappointed so many stalls are empty.
Lots of cool and useful stuff
Lots of great vendors. From art to fresh lunch options to ???? and ????, they have it all here.
Nice market. Lots of souvenirs and local products. Some nice jewelry in far end (back) of market seemed reasonably priced.
Had a great experience here. Everything was excelent! I reccomend this place!
It was a nice Market not that big, unfortunately it was during closing time so shops were closing down, but would definitely take a look if in the area.
This truely is a city treasure. Once you visit this building it will always be fondly in your memories. This is a good place for grabbing a bite to eat that's a step up from the usual, great produce, seafood, local artworks etc!
Nice place for food and other shopping! People à great and funny there!
Nice market with a good variety of vendors and offerings. Local art, food, produce. It was a nice stop passing through Saint John. Easy to find, nice layout and spacious.
Full of wonderful delishes delights. Go to Billy's for the Oyster bar!
Oldest market in Canada! Incredible selection of world foods and exotic groceries.
It's lovely - tidy, clean, bright. Not many vendors though???? might get better as Covid restrictions continue to lift. We had lunch at Jeremiah's and it was amazing! We picked it due to the long line there.glad we did????
Canadas oldest market. Quite large, lots of seafood and fresh fruit and produce and a couple souvenir shops.
Quaint. Not as many different vendors as in previous years. We had a hard time finding a variety of souvenirs. East coast hospitality is always top notch.
Very cool place with fresh food and lots of great people!
Smaller than we expected. You will find produce, meats, seafood and packaged food along with restaurants and some arts and crafts vendors. I found the fruits and vegetables were not the freshest and were overwrapped. Prices were not that great either. A little disappointed.
Alot of choice would go more times
One of the only places to get fresh and local food. Lots of fruits, veggies, seafood and meat cuts available for a good price. Along the sides are different restaurants, with sandwiches, pizzas or coffee. You can sit and enjoy your meal along the attached seating area. Closest market in the city you'll find to be similar to traditional style markets in eastern Europe or Asia.
Old stomping ground - a great place to pick up supper ingredients on the way home
Clean and organised the merchants are very friendly and have a collection of great buys
A very quaint little market. Mostly jewelry and standard farmers market fare, as well as some region specific cuisine such as Korean and Italian. On weekdays things only really kick off around 5 pm
Lots of things to love about the market! So many options, food, art, take-out, toiletries etc. Lots of homemade goodies and all natural items.
Fun market with good mix of shops. Try the cinnamon rolls. The big ones.
Lots to buy for tourist. Unique art work and lots of great food! Hidden gems in there, keep your eyes open :)
Unique fooderies and boutiques to choose from along with fresh market meats and fresh produce. Great place all around.
You cannot visit st John and not visit one of the oldest markets in operation in the country.. In the heart of downtown st john this little market is easy to get to and although yes it is small.. there are lots of unique things there that you won't find anywhere else.. Stop for lunch at the great Atlantic salmon company for a lobster roll, chowder or some amazing lobster poutine
I always love going here sandwhichs Jeremiah's and salads wild carrot !
Nice quaint little place. We weren't there long but a nice little variety place
I usually buy fresh fish at City market, good varieties and prices.
Amazing tourist stop. Lots of local goodies for me and great gifts to bring back for family and friends.
Always my go-to place for fresh fish meat or produce
Lots of variety. Everything from food to clothing to arts and crafts as well as nifty little eateries. Very nice. Seems to be a place for socialization for many in the city. One of the best words to describe it is charming.
Such a great atmosphere!! I love McGuinty time here. Every meal I've eaten had been delicious, although there haven't been many. Wish I could enjoy lunch at the market more often!
Great selection of restaurants, most meals seem a bit on the pricy side, but you can always find a special worth your while.
One of my favourite places to grab lunch in the city. I love sisters and the wild carrot, and seeing the mobiles change every season is exciting
Lively and fun indoor market with lots of good food selections. The building looks like the inside of an old sailing ship and is quite unique. There is some shopping but go mostly for the food and the crowds.
A full city block in length, the Market runs downhill from the "head of the Market" on Charlotte Street, gently sloping to the Germain Street entrance, a full 20 feet below. At both entrances hang the same gates that have swung closed at the end of each business day since 1880. Crafted from heavy wrought-iron, their graceful design is a tribute to the skill and artistry of the local blacksmith who created them.
Awesome place. Lots of produce and art booths. Good eating places. Even has live music.
Must see if you go to St. John. Look up, the roof trusses were constructed by craftsmen who made wooden sailing ships. Try the dulse.
Over hyped but needs to be saved. Businesses disappear often though some have survived.
Busy little indoor market, had a lovely ice cream cone while looking at the art and goods for sale.
Love the old market. A piece of history in the middle of the city surrounded by great architecture!
Great place to stroll though , They sell unique different Jewerly, pottery , Essential oils!! _ Clothes- sweaters , socks , scarfs _ produce _ Meat _ Cheese _ Seafood _ Breads _ Coffee shop _ Paintings _ Stain glass _And a lot of other selection of stuff!!! *Great place to meet friends and have lunch!!
Seems pricey when busses of tourists are expected
Fun to explore although not a lot of vendors at the time of our visit on a Wednesday afternoon.
The market has a lot of charm. You can move through it at your own speed, although it can be quite busy. The various sellers were friendly and more than happy to answer questions about their goods and the town in general.
We visited the City Market when we stayed in a nearby AirBnB last year. Very historic, in the Center of Town not far from the waterfront. Full of vendors for your appetite from live lobsters to fresh vegetables or perhaps souvenirs or groceries. You name it. Doris had a fun time meeting and local artist and having her sign the beautiful etching she created. A must visit for all tourists to St. John.
A very nice place even just to have a walk and visit. And there are a lot of items to buy.
Really good atmosphere, lots of nice people with stories to tell and really good food stops
Very nice market in a beautiful city. I arrived here during a New England cruise; it was one of the ports we visited.
All of the vendors were really friendly. Each area was was closely supervised and there was always someone nearby to answer a question. I highly recommend this place.
A very nice city market. Not the size or scope of larger cities, but very friendly helpful proprietors and staff.
Beautiful market, many locally crafted goods and one of the few places in St John that have the vibes of a bigger city...
Quite an interesting market to visit. There were a lot of vendors. This was our first time, and one can only assume pre Coronavirus this place would have been packed. There's a lot of vendors here, ranging from food, to clothes and …
That's a cute place but with covid, a lot is closed.
Great spot, lots of selection. Always something good to eat!
Good for visitor ..you see some historic photos of city of saint john ..give very ancient feelings ..indoor ..good food ..fresh vegetables and fruits ..
Great to have the market reopen!
Just make sure not to accidentally walk into the mall after visiting here. So sad what COVID accomplished
Nice market with a variety of food and craft stalls. You can get fresh produce here, and there are tourist oriented stalls too. It is a bit weird in that the whole market is on an incline which might make traversal difficult for wheelchairs. Definitely worth it to pop in.
Great marketplace. You can buy local specialties, nice souvenirs and restaurant takeout
One of the best places in the city, well worth the visit. Great selection of stores and some of the best food in the city. A must visit if you are in town.
Great service. Good food. Personable staff.
Have you ever tried Billy's? Had their battered haddock and honestly it is the best I have ever eaten!! I have eaten alot of fish and being catholic we had fish every Friday. Wish mom cooked like this. Sorry mom but maybe I will take you there.
The market is always good spot for a lunch, love me an Italian meat and cheese from Sisters.
Great little tourist spot and has some unique food and gifts.
Nice little market. Would be nice if they had more seating for the food areas.
Unique market, we really enjoyed our visit . They offer a wide variety of food and gifts . A must see for all visitors to the city. The only drawback would be parking, as it's in the old part of the city. The new parking meters left a lot to be desired , however we found the commissioners in charge of them helpful .
This place is pretty cool. This market has plenty of items from local vendors including a selection of hand made items. Well worth a visit.
Clean amenities, businesses available here are quite common, originalty is mostly absent. If you need mainstream things with the usual fake smile for services (like banking) it's got them.
I looove this place. It's the closest thing to a grocery store in Uptown and you can really feel it's history when you shop.
A little bit of everything from local artists to fresh seafood and produce. In the heart of uptown with plenty to see and do in Saint John. Have lunch and pick up dinner and a souvenir any day of the week.
Nice place to get fresh and local food! Really appreciated the experience here!
Loved this gem in the heart of the city of St John's New Brunswick . Doesn't look like much from outside but step inside and discover a world of smells and tastes that will make you wanting more. The products are super fresh and its a super nice outing to do when here.
Great stores and Atmosphere. But mostly the people make the place!!
Local art, crafts, meats, fish, produce. Nice lunch spots. Historic building.
Very touristy so exciting first visit but not enough variety.
Vibrant, fun atmosphere in this farmer's market. Lots of ethnic food offerings and crafts.
The oldest Market in North America not to be mistaken for the Rideau market in Ottawa.
Excellent place, lots of food and history. Not bad prices
A must visit in Saint John. This place has some amazing history. It's mostly full of food and gifts and such but is a must see. The roof looks like an upside down boat hull from the inside and the decor at Christmas is breath taking!
Nice market. Got lots going on. It's the place to go if you visit here.
Lots of little shops, great food picks. Also meat, fish and produce stands.
Enjoyed the market and the fresh food stalls. A great place to get lunch and sit outside and listen tonthe local entertainment.
Nice market a short walk from the harbour.
A vast array of the best of Saint John . Fresh fruits and vegetables, great butcher's, fabulous restaurants serving up daily greats! Wonderful gift ideas and home decor. You'll always find something unique at the market.
Some really good vendors, especially restaurant /take out type places. Also really good produce and may shops.
Even though it's the off season there were many wonderful, fresh items and art work etc we had no trouble with parking and will definitely be back
Great spot to grab a fresh bite to eat. There's also some fun merchants in the building as well.
A colourful assortment of merchandise and artwork available. It's indoor space so there is no problem shopping even if weather is not ideal. Plenty of parking.
Beautiful market. Not enough of these left.
The market has wonderful shops and several places to eat at. The ceiling had maple leaves to celebrate Canada's 150 anniversary they were painted by local school children and apparently they change the theme each year and eventually auction them off.
What a great market. The vendors are pleasant and very helpful. It's a must see when in Saint John.
Great lively spot with a variety of tasty food options. Vibe is very much a market opposed to a farmers market. Location is great next to parks.
Lots of delicious fresh produce at the lowest prices, and always friendly service. ☺
Always a pleasure to come in for fresh food anytime of year. Someone had asked if this was year round and the answer is YES.. It only closes Sunday;s and holidays during the year. Just check out the hours drop list when you plan to go
Great vendors! Fun place to take visitors. Love the Canada 150 decor
Beautiful historic market. Lovely at Christmas time and lots of local and international food as well as hand made items for sale
NEVER A DULL MOMENT! NEVER CHANGE????????
Cute little market, The Baker Stone is amazing!!!! The girl who works at Sagratii's was so unpleasant though. :(
It's got that classic small townarket feel nailed down. I rember loving this place as a kid and still do to this day. Try out the food vendors and pick up some good gifts for people.
Over rated...nice historic spot...but tacky little trinkets...and some good food- meats and veggies.
Always a great experience at the Market. Great food and great selection of fresh seafood and produce!
I love this place. I do wish that some group or other would get together and make this a modern space with more local fare. Small local restaurants or a brewery. Something that brings after work and weekenders. However, it is a lovely spot and I hope that it eventually transforms into something more appealing to another generation.
The best place in all of Saint John
Truly local arts and crafts plus dulse and lobster. Excellent espresso too.
The vendors there are wonderful, and you can never ever go wrong with a breakfast wrap from Jerimiah's to start your day, a soup and sandwich from sisters for lunch, and a stroll through in the afternoon for maybe a snack or just to stop and have a chat with someone
Oldest continuous Farmers market, rich in history and tradition, and a unique architecture. An interesting place to visit, and convenient to pick up groceries.
Love shopping? Love local? Love great food? Well if you're like me and answered yes to all of these questions then the city market is the place for you, as long as its before 6pm because this placed is closed early and not open Sundays. Totally worth the trip.
Always nice to walk around the Market in any Season to see what is there.
It's the people. They are friendly and helpful. Love the sandwiches at Jerimiahs !!!
Lovely mix of food, artisan art, homemade goodies. Warm, friendly feel.
The staff are wonderful and I always find what I need, and it's close by you can take the bus
Nice place to visit if you have some free time in the city. The only downside is that during COVID a lot of booths are empty, not as full as pre COVID time.
Nice market. The Korean food is nice. Try Bibimbap! The WiFi connection is also very good at this location.
A great place to shop get something to eat and see a bit of history. The employees are friendly and helpful.
Great vendors, will be back to check out some of the food. Also be sure to come for the night Market. It's just unfortunate how much of the place is empty.
Clean market with plenty of food options. Delicious fresh fish consumed for lunch at one of the shops. The juice bar was awesome. He modified a drink per our request. Plenty of fresh produce.
Nice variety of engaged and friendly vendors at the outdoor night market.
A kind of place that you can't miss. Lots of parks , museums , attractions and the best food on NE ! Enjoy the obelisk at central park, great photos there. :-)
Absolutely a beautiful market that has been around for 100 plus years. Great place to buy local products.
A must when in Saint John!
Visit this place every time I go to Saint John. Give me a some peaceful feeling.
Great historic market with an East Coast flavour. It's always a stop on my visists to Saint John to get a little shopping in!
I love the SJ city market, especially the different varieties of foods! Some personal favorites are Kims Korean, Shawarma Hut and Jeremiah's !
Best place on eath in my eyes! The friendly crafts people and the delicious food!
Enjoyable place, worth stopping by for a cisit even if you do not need anything. I only wish it was bigger.
Friendly atmosphere and everything under one roof. Buy local! ????
Because of covid everything was very quiet but I've been going here since I was a little girl every year, when my family vacations
The market is built over a short city street. The interior of the building, made by ship builders, is constructed like an ship that has capsized. An awesome sight. Not only will you find fesh seafood, a huge vegetable market and a large selection of textiles, but also a great selection of handmade items by local artisans and several local eateries. Worth a visit!
Sisters pizza was fantastic. Moose coffee was good too.
It's fine. Mostly just local stores. Some fresh produce and knick nacks. I'm spoiled by the Halifax farmers market.
Small market, a few nice vendors of seafood (expensive), Asian restaurant, art pieces and veggies, occasionally music band performance. Great salad bar though and relatively clean toilets but overall not a place I'd drive to visit on purpose.
Great historic market with a variety of goods including fruit, produce, meat, fish, takeaway food, coffee, pastries, crafts and souvenirs. A fun stop.
Nice place, have a little of everything , food, craft, fruit, etc.
Fresh cut meat, fresh fruit and vegetables, local-made crafts, and prepared food made from fresh food (not at a factory).
The City Market from the time I was a child , has been something special. The people are the best. Forget CostHo or WalFart, real shopping happens in markets like this one
The blueberries I bought were not fresh. Also this market is quite basic relative to other markets around the world (eg Pike Place in Seattle)
We very much enjoyed this market's intimate flash from the past where you can get supplies for dinner, art, clothing, St John souvenirs etc in a really cool indoor atmosphere.
I was a little disappointed. It could be that we were there on a Saturday around 4 pm, but there didn't seem to be much to see. I was thinking of Reading Terminal Market in Philly when I saw this was a City market but it is nowhere near that level. We did get some gorgeous strawberries though.
It's a cute a market in the middle of Uptown. It doesn't stay open late though so make sure to check the hours if you want to drop by. It's also not very big. You can see the entire thing in about ten minutes.
One of the oldest farmers market in Canada. Lots of history here. Love the architecture and interior space. However when I visited in October 2021, there were only a few vegetable vendors. Mostly vendors selling arts and crafts. I assume it …
Great selection of produce and local goods. Would have been 5 stars if there was a meat market (it's under new ownership and being renovate.)
The vendors have adjusted well to working around a pandemic, we'll all be better once a few more customers adjust to our new reality!
Great place to pick up things nobody else has. Local meat shops rock.
I love all the different vendors at the market. Something for everyone. Nice to see new businesses coming.
Cool place for food, crafts, art, people watching.
Great food sel3ction
Historic and quant, its a great place to eat or shop. Great atmosphere and delicious food. Check it out when you're in Saint John. You won't regret it!
Seems like a decent mix of vendors, not much in the way of fresh produce when we visited, the building is really fantastic.
A friendly face around every corner and passionate workers make this place very valuable to Saint John. Whether you are looking for something purely New Brunswick as a souvenir or just looking for quality food and service the Saint John City Market will keep you entertained and leave you satisfied.
This is a must if you visit Saint John, this City Market is a modest sized venue where you can find some fresh and excellent quality products. Shops I remember as a tourist with only a few visits are: section with Jarritos (Mexican pop), meat and fish that seem fresh and deliciousl. Or maybe you just want to go look for a delicious but simple breakfast spot: Slocum & Ferris. If you are not interested in food, there are two things that will make it worth your visit: - Fiddling Ferns stall, with really super cool designs from the local artist studio printed on tea towels, napkins, t-shirts, greeting cards, etc. - The Butcher's Daughter, a shop next to North entrance, with some really amazing hand made pottery artifacts ranging from the typical mugs and yarn holders to earrings, trays for appetizers and tea sets.
Always a trip to the past. Love the vendors and merchants. Grab a dessert and a Java Moose coffee and watch the city go by.
It's not the biggest, the shiniest, or the cheapest, but it's a good place to get some lunch or do a bit of grocery shopping. Also available are ice cream and various souvenirs.
One of the best places to visit in Saint John. Great food options for lunch in a very cool historic building
I have to say I was disappointed. There really was not anything here to see. I strolled from the entrance to the exit in minutes. Small art stands, some fruit and veg. A seafood place. All the eatery’s did not look clean to me. I actually couldn’t wait to get out. I guess after visiting Montréal farmers market, I expected large flower stands, a plethora of baking goods, tons of food and cafes. The pictures are deceiving.
So much fun. There are lots of great vendors here. My husband left his cell phone in the restroom and someone actually turned it in to security! This was a great introduction to Canada.
Great historic market in a nice historic city. Come to the market hungry, lots of food to sample. All appreciate the fully enclosed walkways from the Hilton all the way to the market.
The Saint John City Market is a must see if you are in Saint John! Local crafts are sold and delicious food to eat. I recommend to everyone!
Really Great market, been around for so many decades. Too bad none of the stores inside and around it can stay in business. Sooo many empty locations, it's a sad thing. AND us visiting all this, see this as well.
Fantastic place to get fresh food and enjoy the great atmosphere.
Lots of cool stuff you need.
Always try to make it to the City Market when visiting the city.
I'm not from Canada went to visit family, did research what to check out. This market was on the must check out. Was able to gift shop and eat esp tried poutine I am addicted.
This is there market to visit in Saint John. Fantastic arts and crafts for sale. Delicious food.
The market has lots of different shops and places to eat and the roof looks like the bottom of a ship. Very nice but the view is usually obscured by things hanging from the ceiling.
A fantastic market in the heart of Saint John. Many fond memories of this place.
Some things never change and that can be positive. A whale salad is still a whale salad.
The Market it's self was rather nice, lots of vendors with local art, fresh produce, locally made food. I really enjoyed it However, my problem was with Management itself. They where very rude and snotty. We had a few questions for them and they acted like we where beneath them. I would have expected a location that was meant to showcase and represent the heart and spirit of Saint John to be a lot more friendlier for an approachable. I might consider going back sometime in the future. Although after my experience, it has really soured my opinion of the Market as a whole.
It's a wonderful market. Lots of diverse culture, fresh meat and vegetables. Lots of good food to eat. Lots of local artist and crafts people. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.
Local crafts, foods, great place to shop for groceries, gifts, and grab a bite to eat or just a cup of great coffee
Excellent service I love going to the market people are so happy cheerful
I loved this place. Many vendors. It's obviously tourist-y but there's a lot to see and check out and we had a great time!
A historical staple in the uptown for decades. One of the main things that makes the City Market special is that it remains open daily, year round unlike many other "markets" that are only open on the weekends or at certain seasonal times throughout the year. It remains a huge tourist attraction, especially in during the cruise ship season. Recent renovations have significantly improved the exterior of the building.
Beautiful local market.. Don't forget to look UP! This market was built by ship builders and the roof tells all
Remember growing as a child in a small town just west called saint Stephen and how I use to go with my uncle to the market every weekend. It was very fun.
I'm always able to find a variety of different choices for lunch. So many yummy things. Then there are fresh fruit and vegetables and a great butcher. Even stores to get a quick birthday present. Don't hesitate to come and explore.
Such a great selection of fresh produce. And so many great restaurants. I go here almost everyday for lunch. I love the market!
City Market is a staple in our city. I highly recommend that you go visit and take your time to absorb all there is to see from each vendor. There are some unique fixtures there and a lot of history.
Really enjoyed the market, lots of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Awesome artisanal market with deep history!
What I liked most about it was that none of the businesses belonged to a chain. Instead they are small entrepreneurs, with a variety of local products and food.Especially liked Naan-of-Your-Business.
Love this place, je suis Canadian . Beautiful city. My home at heart. Hopefully it continues to grow
Friendly fish monger will cook your lobster or give you a sample of his delicious hot smoked salmon.
Nice place to stop by to see local souvenirs and really affordable lunch
Historical place. Must visit. Learnt a lot. Overall a great place to visit
Great prices h&s meats recommend there for meat order
Oldest indoor market in Canada, lots of delicious vendors, must see! Lots of local talent.
Must visit this historical site.
I shop daily there since it's the only uptown place/store to get anything fresh.ie meat,fruit and vegetables.However I've always found it a bit high-priced on many things.We locals,however,must realize it's a phenomenal tourist must-see!
Maybe because we came here off season (first day of Fall) the place was not that exciting and things seemed pricy. The food did look good and fresh but we did not eat there.
Cool open market of various indepent vendors and Restaurants. Parking is a little difficult but within walking distance of most everything in the area and public parking areas
BE WARE OF SCAMMERS! There are these two people posing as tourists asking you to take a photo, and then asks you for money. I am honestly sad seeing how COVID has destroyed legitimate local businesses. I hope you all can support local businesses but please please be aware of scammers.
This market has been in operation since the 1700 s it s great for food to eat on the spot at a table or to go as well as pick up some groceries.
Amazing place! Good produce and meats if you have a place to cook but also has lots of little food stands!
Great place to shop local products. I took some nice photos to add my social media. I am uploading here too..
A fun place to visit when you are in uptown saintjohn.. With limits to see and great food and merchandise to buy. Building has a rustic old school feel about it.
Unless you want food, probably not worth your effort. Very little selection and many empty vendor tables.
One of my favorite market experience in Canada. A wonderful place, and one of my favorite places to buy dulse in Saint John, if you're looking for the treat.
I love SJ city market because the history would be spectacular and they would not going to food stalls except fish and chip stall
Great selection to choose from and friendly vendors
Waste of time. Small and very expensive. Worst market u have ever been to. Waste of time. Nice park across the street though.
Cute and quaint city market. Fresh seafood, lunches and local crafts for sale. Great local natural bath & body store in the middle of the market. Lobster rolls are excellent! A must see when visiting!
Great place to visit lots of local vendors very historic opened in 1800 then burned in the great fire was rebuilt in 1830 beautiful architecture inside with great food
Great place to go, lots of fresh produce and a couple great little shops.
Lots of lunch options and a lovely market! Be sure to check hours of specific businesses as some are closed on certain days of the week!
You can find good meals, local products and souvenirs.
Cool. Great food, great crafts
Always love a stroll through the market
What an incredible place when you come to St John you have to come to the market if you don't you're really missing out
Unique market with a variety of different foods and pictures, jewelery etc.
Nice, but more stalls and stores than a farmers market.
Many vendors and love how you can get to nearby destinations through pedways.
Always a great experience with a variety of vendors and wares
Great place and great food.
For meats and produce it's actually cheaper than Sobeys or Superstore while also being better quality. It doesn't have milk though.
Neat old market ! Besides just shopping ask some of the locals about the history of that market ! Its amazing how long its been there and some of the things tht have happened there over the years ! Would loked to have seen it 80 years ago
One of Canada's oldest farmers market dating before confederation.Relaxing atmosphere friendly staff and owners
Variety of items. Told good prices. Fresh food.
Great place to shop for just about all your needs. Wonderful colourful local food and vendors.
Inside was closing, but they were having evening market. Wide variety of products available. Very friendly. Loved the older buildings and atmosphere.
Fun little market with local shops. Food, crafts, beer and wine.
Beautiful building, wonderful stores inside but currently not so many people due to covid, loved such a great historical place .
Lobster roll at Saint John City Market - it doesn't get any better.
Awesome experience! Many treasures to be found!
Been waaaaay too long since me family and I have been there! H and S Meats was THE BEST! The woman and her daughter that served us was right cool ???? and it was nice seeing Vic again ????. Thanks again ???? CHEERS ????
Meals were very good, lots of vendors there, prices were fair. Area for seating if you buy from the market.
The covered market epitomises the character of Saint John. A must visit every time I come over from the UK. If you are lucky there may even be live music.
A nice trip down memory lane for me. My parents used to take me there when I was young. A nice variety of goods, food and handicrafts.
Quaint little market in the heart of downtown St. John. A little bit of everything
Love the atmosphere. It's just so quaint, and so many excellent places to grab a bite
Always enjoyable talking with the vendors in the market..love the smells
Love the city market! Great local produce/ products.
nice quiet market place. Interesting how some vendors have lock boxes for you to drop your money in for items purchased.
Was disappointed. Thought it was a larger market with more variety
One of the most interesting markets I have ever visited, been coming since the 1960s.
This market holds so many great memories for me. Growing up in Saint John it was the heart beat of the downtown area. Whenever I come back it is the first place I go! A wide variety of shops and food stalls makes this a must for any visitor to this city. My favorite cozy spot is Ferris's near the center of the building. Please explore this vibrant historical building, you will be glad you did.
City market is not the same as it use to be since it's been renovated
I might be biased because I work here but I really think it's a beautiful place both to visit as a tourist and to run daily errands as a local. It has a pleasent atmosphere and a real historical vibe with fresh produce anf handmade craft items.
Awesome place for all sorts of things, my only reservation is that they don't allow bartering like the gypsy markets do. 4 stars
It's been quite a while since I was here.... So many empty stalls now
It sure is not like the Fredericton Saturday market but it is unique for our cruise ships.
Love the Saint John City Market..try to visit every time I am on the city.
A great place to get a snack, fresh produce, local trinkets, jewelry, t-shirts, shot glasses and I think coffee mugs. It's great because it's indoors. I understand it's closed Sundays unless a cruise ship is in town and then it will be open.
It had been years since I had been to the market...it's not the bustling centre of local wares that I remember. At 10:00 on a Saturday morning, it was pretty deserted. There were some handcrafted items and fresh meat and fish, several eateries and an assortment of gift\souvenirs but lacked any novelty that would encourage a return visit.
Eat mostly at Kim's Korean
Love city market been going there for years
Very good for a small town. Costly.
Love this place. Vendors are local, music is good. It can get crazy when there is a cruise ship in. Go early for lunch in May to October
Great place for lunch at shops that have been around for a very long time.
Clean and friendly environment. Sad to see some vendors no longer there.
Coming back to life after lockdown! Our favourite things being the British foods!!!
Maybe it's just me, but nothing stood out to me as unique.. A lot of the stuff vendors had were the same kitschy touristy you can get at any gift shop. The food looked decent judging by the long lines forming at those stalls.
Super fun market to go through. Lots of different types of things to shop for, eat, handmade items. Really fun
Fun place, tons of stuff. Kind of like nafaneuil hall in Boston except in Canada instead!
Had a great ramen dish with dumplings !! The kims special and bibimbap is amazing too !!
I found it interesting, bought a few British items. Also enjoyed butter chicken from Naan-ya Business.
Great Place to shop local. there's alot of different stores to choose from.
Quaint place to stroll through spoiled only by uncontrollable covid 19. All stores closed.
Small market, best lemon pie , a bit pricey about food and fruits
So many great places to eat I love Java moose and wild carrot cafe
If you like history and markets it's a cool place to visit
Awesome place to see the beauty of Saint John lots of local and natural products and vendors. Best fish and chips in the city, and the best sandwich you can get.
Small farm market with a variety of shops. Good food items for quick meal choice
Lots of great foods to choose from. I also like the selection of arts and crafts. A great atmosphere there, especially at Christmas.
Best place in the world for everything you need served with a smile. It's an awesome experience everytime you walk in!
Always a wonderful experience. An amazing asset to our city. Also I had a breakfast burrito and then cookies. That’s a win from me.
My favourite spot in all of Saint John. When they decorate the high ceilings it makes the place feel magical. If you are a fan of different kinds of food, homemade products, and hand made things you will love this place. Do not come to Saint John without checking this place out. It is the heart of Saint John and really gives you the old feel.
Its the oldest continuously operating market in Canada. Look up and see the roof structure similar to the wooden sailing boats the area is famous for. Shop for meat and fish vegetables souvenirs and more. It's a nice place to eat with fresh seafood I tried Lord's fish and chips and Lobster rolls. Also available Italian Korean and other eateries like Slokum and Ferris.
A bit of very thing and good prices heat people who know everything about what they are selling
Lots of great quality vendors. A perfect spot to grab lunch!
Lacks some vendors however always a great place to have a stroll thru to beat our summers humidity. And they sell great Dulse
Must see when visiting Saint John!! We go anytime someone comes to visit with us! Always recommended!
Great to see beautiful fresh products and more
Not big as a shopping mall which is why you should visit
Good food and lots of variety. Very unique place
In a historic building built by ship builders (look at the interior roof for clues). "The market" offers an assortment of restaurants, and offerings from local vendors. Try the DLT (dulse lettuce and tomato) sandwich. Worth a walk thru and a very popular tourist attraction.
I went around 3pm on a Thursday and it was really busy. Lots of people walking about. Good selection of food and other things. Employees were friendly. It's just a small space but they make the most of it.
Very nice with a good amount of stalls to choose from.
A lot of the stores have closed down sadly
Jeremiah's deli has thw best sliced ham around
Great place to pick up some food for home. Also has excellent places to sit down and eat at.
Love the historical building. Many crafters and tasty eats. Nice fresh produce.
Awesome experience. Friendly vendors and lots to see and choose from. Fish market guys super knowledgeable and willing to let you taste items too.
Beautiful historic market, friendly staff and nice boutiques.
Love getting fresh local seafood. Some ethnic foods.
Not that much to do unless you go on a tour, but the reversing rapids are well worth a visit. Best time to visit is just befote change of tides (20 mins ish) so that you can see the water flow one way, become still and then flow the opposite.
This is a must see historic landmark with a great local market atmosphere.
Many amazing choices for lunch and all very fresh and yummy. Love to support local business.
Love this place. Go there each and every time I visit Saint John. Lived there in the 70's.
Just needed a quick snack so went to Sisters.
Love walking through here. Beautiful finds and smell all the fresh food yum
Lots of great shops. Excellent quality and a historic building!
Nice place has lots of different food vendors and seafood and meat
First time there was amazed of all the different venders an indoor!! Along with many crafts an a great place to eat of foods of your choice
Not all booths/stalls are being used in the winter. Lots of options to eat, get groceries and souvenirs. There is a parking lot 1 block beside it
Nice atmosphère.take your time as there is a lot to see if you look around.
Good food unique vendors and the building itself is really cool.
The Old City Market is a great place for any tourist to stop in St John. We bought butter tarts and some walnut balls (I don't think that is what they were called. My dad got some sort of dried seaweed as a snack. Many little restaurants and folks selling an assortment of St John memorabilia. I would check out Reversing Falls, come shop here, and then go back to Reversing Falls to see how the tide had changed.
Nice market lots of stuff looked fresh friendly people
Nice walk and overpriced food. Worth trying though. Try the fresh juice stand.
We love game/card shops! The staff and customers were amazingly kind and generous. Wish my boys had been with us for this experience.
Beautiful old world part of saint John. Vendors are amazing and always super friendly. A MUST see if you are visiting the city.
Great place! They Have ALSO a halal restaurant called NAAN YA BUSINESS
Tons of delicious food. The market is a must see for anyone visiting Saint John
Cute market, no so big nice shop
Nice place to shop,so many different hand crafted item under one roof loved every single of them , other things like produce meat bakery are also available in this market.
There's an outdoor extension that opens every Thursday evening. An acoustic band plays the music. Also, you can find the only place in town that offers Malagasy street-food over there.
Everything from great Korean food to lobster and the only place I know in the area that has Brio!
Rich history of Saint John can start right here in the City Market. Built by the old shipyard, the building is built around an upside down boat, look up and see the ribbing of the boat that is a building. A city information booth is set up near the southern doors and lots of market booths ranging from grocery, food, art, and miscellaneous vendors make this a fantastic place to spend the day and some money. A lot of the vendors sell local products which helps support our local communities.
Smaller than I expect but good place to buy local crafts.
Such an amazing place
It's a great place to support local businesses and a great atmosphere.
Not a big market but nice place for foodie
The city market is a great place to get local or hand made products, great food and great people with warm smiles and welcoming personalities.
We love going to the market when we visit St. John. We enjoy all the vendors and then visiting the mall.
Great place to wander around. Just like Readington street market in Philly.
I live in New Zealand and visited New Brunswick last year. St John's market was on my visiting list. I bought a picture from John but when I got home it was not here. He since posted it AND another one. Was this because of the mix up? So awesome! Thank you for a fabulous service and More. A wonderful place to shop. Thank you Canvas Pictures. Zoe Fryer
You have to compare it to other malls and markets. Sure it is clean with decent customer service but it really lacks in products.
I always make time to check out the market when I am uptown. I have always loved this place. I recommend trying the smoothie stand they have set up- it is freshly squeezed and probably has the best smoothies in the city!
wonderful market with lovely children's art decorations, great stop for lunch in uptown st. john and keep an eye out on how the roof of the market is actually the bottom of a ship!
Small but has a lot of great local products with many unique to the area. There is also a specialty donut shop there!
North Market's deep fried scallop and fries is a must try, grilled lobster roll is awesome, seafood chowder is loaded with seafood
Some very cool vendors. Friendly and informative. Really enjoyed stopping at the different stands. I found a couple things I will probably continue to buy online from these local vendors when I get back to the states.
One of the best places to visit in Saint John. Whether you want a quick treat, lunch or something to take home for dinner. Highly recommend it. Everyone is friendly and you see familiar faces.
Really nice market. Nice mix of stuff for locals and tourists alike. If you're visiting St John, worth a stop here.
Been coming here as a child very friendly it seems to grow each year great food and produce and home made crafts
Interesting vendors. Would recommend lobster rolls both at the bakery and fish market.
Nice appearance but overpriced and more imported products than local ones.
Cute market with lots of great food options and vendors!
A smaller version of Seattle's Pike Place market. Fruit, vegetables, meat and seafood venders for the locals. Also, venders with the usual tourist things. Some beautiful blown glass objects. Several food stalls.
Great market. Must visit when in St John's!
Great environment, wonderful food, excellent wares. Classic uptown Saint John.
Great local, central market featuring local produce, seafood, textiles amongst other great finds.
A great visit everytime , having lived here all my life the City Market has always been one of my fav places.
Not bad for a little whole in the wall ...coffee was cold and no merchants had motioned my buying nice they are not money hungry but going at none tourist times is very dry experience
I always enjoy going to SJ city market...it's fun to explore new artists selling their crafts....a few places to eat and lots of produces etc
This place...the history...and such awesome wares. When you first walk in (top of the hill) you will find an amazing photographer/artist and man alive is his work beautiful! We purchased a few pieces to bring back home to Alberta. Definitely need to check this place out!
So many vendors, great items for sale.
Awesome market. Can get just about anything you need and then some !!
Very cute the way they have it iaa set up with all th he different vendors. Good selection of International goods & delicacies.
Not much there open on a Saturday afternoon which was sad after driving 150 km to get there.
Traditional agricultural market selling fresh produce, meats, fish and coffee etc. But some space is empty.
It is a really good and have a nice place for shopping
Good deals but expensive food
A beautiful heritage building, I always love exploring this place. You can feel the history in the walls and floor, it is a one of kind sight
Love the old market. A piece of history in the middle of the city surrounded by great architecture.
Love the uptown market. So many amazing spots to grab a bite to eat. You can find everything you need here to make a delicious meal.
Great aesthetic and great prices on dulse. Made the trip to saint john for this place alone.
Fun place to walk and do a little shopping across from hotel pretty good food choices
So amazing! The quality of food and the variety was outstanding! The overall look reminded me of a European market. Wish we could have gotten more while there!
Something nice about being able to stroll thru the market during the week.
If you are visiting Saint John, you have to visit! A historic city market right in the centre of the city! Check out the ceiling and you will be looking at the ribs of a ship. Lots of very interesting vendors with a wide variety of merchandise. I'm a local but still feel like i'm a tourist every time I walk through the market. Enjoy!
