The chicken i bought here was slaughtered, packed and delivered the same day i bought it. I boiled it for my baby and it smelled amazing, my son loved it. Chicken doesn't usually smell good when boiled but this assured me of the quality. Store could use a bit of an upgrade since the prices are so high, the shopping experience should be more pleasant.

Every time I go to Elmwood meats it never ceases to amaze me the quality of the meat and friendly staff that serves. I've gotten numerous different products from here and it's always fresh, tender and flavourful. Best quality in Mississauga. Their catering service for prepared entrees is outstanding. I've gotten their sirloin roasts, pulled pork and prime rib. Top quality and cooked and seasoned to perfection. Thank u Ali and Trevor. U make my parties a smashing success and full of compliments on the dishes u prepare.

I opened my business in Port Credit 37 years ago. That equals 37 turkeys at thanksgiving and 37 turkeys at Xmas. New York steaks in the summer. They are always so good to me and I have never been disappointed.

I’ll start with the staff by saying they are great. As for the shop it’s in need of a reno. I found it dusty everywhere and water spots in the ceiling tiles is never a nice thing to see when you are purchasing food of any kind. As someone who frequently works in food industry as a service technician it’s never a good sign if the owner can’t see this.

Do NOT GO TO THIS PLACE I went in today and bought some chicken pieces chicken kabobs and a pork shoulder I opened the chicken pieces and it was rancid The label show packaged on todays date with NO EXPIRAY Date I threw it all out 125 dollars gone I’m considering notifing Mississauga health department

Long time customer, purchased turkeys and pork shoulders here every year for years. Last weekend I purchased 4 racks of ribs to bring up north and cook with some friends. Took them out of the cooler, opened them up, and two of them filled up the whole house with the smell of rotten meat. The fact this can happen at a butcher shop with so much experience is baffling to me. Such gross negligence. Will never purchase another item from this negligent butcher.

You wrote a review for Elmwood Meat Market 11 minutes ago 1.0 star rating 9/29/2017 I'd love to give this place a better review but I can't. I wanted to like it, I really did. For the most part their stuff is decent albeit a bit over priced for the quality. It's the service where it really falls apart. I've been probably 10 times as it's the closest butcher to my house and if you get the stuff from the counter then you might be ok. HOWEVER I've gotten specific things cut a few times and it's always disappointing. Overlooking the unsolicited cooking tips that are occasionally condescending (today wasn't as bad).... They never show you what they have cut. They just do it in the back and bring it to the cash already wrapped. Once I asked for a 3" porterhouse and he made it over 6" ($130).... way more than I wanted. There was a similar experience with lamb and today was the last straw. Asked for a filet mignon to be cut larger than the bacon wrapped ones on display as I was making something special. Saw the weight and it was right around 1 lb so thought finally I was in good shape. When I got home and unwrapped it they had cut the kinda of stringy end piece from the end of a tenderloin. My steak had one round end... Maybe from a sale bin at loblaws but not for a $35 butcher cut steak. It's almost as though asking for something specific bothers them so they try to get back at you. That was my last time there. You'll be much better off going to Royal York Meat Market or Medium Rare.

I would often have to drive up to Rowe Farms in Guelph to get quality antibiotic and hormone free meats, then I discovered Elmwood right in the heart of Port Credit! This is a proper butcher shop (one of the remaining few) with cuts of meat and quality of those cuts of meat that are actually meant for human consumption unlike a lot of what is being passed off as a "choice cut" at some of the larger chain shops. Make no mistake this is the best quality meat you are going to find in the area. The price is certainly higher but usually purchasing anything of quality means a higher price, if you want to eat pink goo there is a grocery store down the street selling it for a few bucks a pound. They also have a pretty respectable selection of wild game meat; Venison and Wild Boar spring to mind, however there was certainly some more interesting meats available for those who enjoy a quality cut. Try something simple like one of their burgers or kabobs, you will quickly understand why I haven't bought meat at a grocery store since I found this gem.

I am always greeted with a smile and assistance from the owner and the staff. The owner Ali, once cooked my turkey for me & sliced it too. Went there and asked for 100% grass feed beef from Ontario and was told in a mocking ton that there is no such think as 100% grass feed in Ontario! Instead I should buy some finished grain beef from PEI! I walked out without buying anything.

The best butcher shop in the area in my opinion. Considering the quality of the products that are sold, the prices are reasonable. This is not a shop to go to if you are looking to buy a 6 dollar steak that is as tough as leather. The selection is also great, as they sell everything from chicken breast to wagyu beef. Everything you get from Elmwood Meat Market has the potential to impress.

This is the second time I purchased a Yorkshire Valley Farm Organic Turkey and despite the owner's assurance, i am pretty sure it was frozen ...I suspected a defrost the last time. When you pay a ridiculous amount of money (over $7 per pound) for a 'fresh organic' bird, you expect it to be fresh. You also hope that your local butcher is reliable. I got this bird home and it was rock hard frozen and I could not open the cavity. I left it in the fridge for 24 hours and it was still somewhat frozen and the neck was frozen solid to the cavity. I called the owner and he was somewhat defiant and said that it probably froze on the truck... that is nonsense as i am in a very similar business.

Also they have a lot of time on their hands.When I went to pay the man at the cash was very busy taking wax out of his ear. Probably enough for a small candle before packaging all the very expensive meats I bought .Very disgusting.How they got these ratings is beyond me.

Very disappointed in this meat for this expensive price. We went in the summer and purchased many steaks and sausages for our house warming party and it turned out to be the most dry meat ever and we like rare to medium rare bbq meat. Sausages were total saw dust and nobody could eat them. The steaks were also dry, chewy and no taste. Given the high price and large quantities of meat we bought we would never try again. Customer service was also dismissive to us as new customers and just catered to their existing regulars it seemed.

Have been here twice now- the cuts of meat are very high quality and always fresh. The beef kebabs are wonderful, so are the lamb skewers. I do find the prices to be high (there are other butchers in the area that have better pricing) I would also agree with the other reviews that the ambiance is not great- it is cramped and old inside. The place definitely needs to be refreshed!

I buy here when I am in a pinch, but not anymore. The price is high and the quality is low. I recently purchased havarti cheese which was completely rancid. No longer will I shop there. They own the buildings in that plaza and take advantage of the shoppers from Planet Organic. They carry cumbraes, rowe farms and beretta farms, but they do not sell enough of it to keep it fresh. Food is often expired in the refrigerated table, and I once found food in their frozen section a full year over expiration date. There is much better places to source meat in south Mississauga than this dirty establishment.

Best butcher shop and food market in Port Credit and possibly in Mississauga. More expensive than the supermarket but much, MUCH better quality and service. The chicken breasts are cheaper than most supermarkets and are way better. Ask for them seasoned for less work and amazing flavour. The rib steaks, burgers and other meats are great as well. I haven't had anything I wasn't amazed with. Very friendly and helpful staff too.

I ordered 6 turkey burgers for my kids when I was looking she was taking fresh one once I stepped away she took two in vacuum from other day or days God knows RECOMMENDATIONS OPEN YOUR PACKAGES BEFORE YOU PAY you think you can trust when you are a regular big mistake

The cashier bagged a bag of raw chicken and fully cooked sausage rolls in the same bag. Preferred to have them in different bags to avoid any cross contamination. Appears they don't know or care. At least ask the customer first to see if they want the items in the same bag. I had to ask for another bag so I can separate the 2 items. Just from this experience, I will not be going back there. There are other great shops around.
