Withrow's Farm Market is my favorite stop when grocery shopping. Because I choose to buy locally grown produce, this is the place for me. So far this year I've enjoyed several varieties of garden fresh greens, rhubarb, beets, new potatoes and strawberries, as well as the best ham ever from their amazing adjacent butcher shop (which deserves its own review). Now I'm looking forward to the ingredients for hodgepodge. On my last shop there, I bought four large hanging flower baskets filled with healthy blooms and interesting vines, as well as some beautiful individually-potted plants for my window boxes. Plant food and a new gardening implement completed my garden purchases.The garden center clerk was knowledgeable as well as helpful. She carried my purchases to the car. If you like excellent local meat, cut to your own specifications if you choose, and a great choice of fresh produce and deli items, this is the place to shop. You can finish up by treating yourself to a great big ice cream! I always like to mention whether or not a place is accessible because that's important to me. Withrow's is very basic in its accessibility and if you're not sure-footed or rely on an aid to walk, you have to watch your step. I'd still give it a 5 out of 5 though!

Kudos to Writhrows for re-opening the Belnan Market in Elmsdale after their Holiday break. Normally just the Rocky Knoll Meat Shop side stays open through the winter but for 2021 Withrows decided to adapt to Covid considerations and reopen the Market too. This provides customers a more peaceful shopping experience than in the busy bustling grocery stores, especially for local workers wanting a tasty homemade grab-and-go meal from the Deli counter. Local & imported produce and dairy can be found in their usual places, along with local baking & preserves. Gloria's Giftware is still available, including locally made soaps and other products. They did some renos and streamlined checkout to keep staff & customers safer; watch for quidelines posted at the entries...

If you haven't been here, you should. While they have two locations, this one is our favourite because of the meat shop. Unbelievable quality of meat, great variety and oftentimes, cheaper than the grocery store! Not to mention local. Staff are so friendly and helpful - you can tell they all take a lot of pride in their work. Best tip: they also have THE best pumpkins at Halloween if you're a serious carver; and the largest size is $5!! They're seriously the best. Can't recommend the pork rolls enough - our favourite is the apple and bacon. We are fans for life.

My favourite farmer's market just outside the city. Always plenty of fresh fruit, veggies and meat from local farms. Service is great. And did I mention the pies??? Rhubarb is my favourite, but you really can't go wrong with any one them. Best of all you can pick up your entire grocery order in under 10 minutes. Avoid the big chains and shop local!

This was my first experience at Withrow's. A butcher show, bakery goods, fresh fruit and vegetables, gifts, flowers all in one place. And then you note the garden center loaded with fall produce - pumpkins and apples, gourds and seasonal flowers. Hay and bird seeds and supplies! Wow! I have to go back soon. I gave it 4 stars because I wasn't there long enough to absorb it all.

We were there for the first time last week and we will definitely be going back. We bought 3 different pork pinwheels and they were so freaking delicious! We also picked up some sweet cherries and green beans. Both also delicious!! Oh and the Thai beef jerky(not sure I have the name right-it’s all gone!!) was really yummy too! Great prices too. Our total was much less than I thought it would be before we went in. Very satisfied!

Love this market. It is always a treat to come here and get local vegetables and products. You can be sure to find seasonal things like pumpkins, apples and Christmas trees. You can also find shrubs and trees at the nursery in the spring and summer months. The market closes before Christmas and opens come Spring. Things usually get discounted the weeks in December before they close.

Don't buy your brisket here. Period. I needed a brisket in a pinch, called ahead to order for pickup in the afternoon, it was literally the worse cut I've ever seen. It was a huge-thin slab rolled over on itself. Not what you're looking for with a $100 cut of meat. Lesson learned, I'll take the extra-time next-time like, I usually do, to drive to Cole Harbour for a good cut. I gave it 2 stars only because the rest of the meat here is usually fine most of the time.

I purchased a side of pork for the first time ever, ordered last week and picked it up today! I am sooo happy with how nice and fresh the cuts are! It’s a great variety and the price was fantastic. Not to mention how helpful the staff was when ordering and picking it up. (They walked me through all the different cuts and asked my preferences for thickness, if I preferred more chops thanks roasts or vice versa) and when I picked it up it was all boxed up, labeled, and they even loaded it up in my car for me!!! Amazing service. Thanks Withrows!!!
