October 2019 EDIT: We're still buying a almost all of our meat from WMD2. We still get great service, great prices and great meat and still mostly talking to Kevin and Bob. Recently we tried a stuffed pork, which was really good. This past summer we also started buying their pork medallions wrapped in bacon. We were told they've had them for a few summers, but somehow I guess we always missed them. That won't happen again as they were fantastic! ORIGINAL REVIEW: We've been buying a majority of our meat here for a few years now. Specifically we love their chicken wings, pork chops and steaks. We've mostly dealt with Kevin and Bob over the years and they have never steered us wrong with their recommendations. They will also take orders for you ahead of time which has been great for us. Great store, great staff, great meat!!

My boyfriend went to this location on Saturday (September 26) for bacon. We didn’t look at it until this morning when we went to make breakfast. The bacon we received was not the bacon that he requested at the counter. A lot of it is stringy and falling apart. It looks no better than the grocery store variety. We will not be back. We normally get the good bacon at a wonderful abattoir outside of the city, but the line up would have been over an hour long that day. I suppose that tells you a lot about their quality and prices. $9.49 a pound is ridiculous for this quality.

I purchased a beef brisket for a family dinner this past weekend (Nov 14) . I am absolutely pleased with the end result, I marinated the meat as recommended and cooked it in my Traeger pellet grill for ten hours. The family was so pleased and made me feel like a Michelin Chef. Thanks Western Meats, a great piece of beef!

That is all that needs to be said!!! 10.80 for big mac meal... 10.70 for sausage meal here... but you get 5x the food and it's fresh and piles of toppings and it's so good. So good !!!! Have been going here for a while but unfortunately the prices have gone up , yet the quality has gone down. When we used to order regular freezer packages , we used to get huge steaks big enough we could both share 1. Now we get 2 tiny steaks that would barely feed a kid or elderly person let alone grown men. My boyfriend is always disappointed as hes a steak man and wants those big steaks back again! Last time they didnt have pepperettes okay fine. But apparently they also didnt have the pork chops in our order and sent us out lower quality ones without calling or asking us . Not fine. We do not want the ones with bones as they are fatty and barely have any meat. That's why we order a freezer package that costs over $200 a month to specifically get the boneless pork chops my boyfriend likes. On top of all that the boneless chicken breatss we received were absolutely disgusting smelling when cooked. We couldnt eat them and had to throw them out!!! No joke. Nothing done about this when we called so we will be taking our money elsewhere!! Poor customer service , as another review mentions .

We stopped in to get one of their freezer meat packs to give it a go and decided to grab a late lunch while we were there. WOW! I can tell you that lunch is going to be a regular occurrence! We ordered two Philly cheese steak sandwiches and one chicken caesar wrap and we were not disappointed. The sandwiches were more than generous and were cooked perfectly! And if the meat that was in the sandwiches are any indication of what to expect from the meat we bought this is our new butcher! Seriously you have to try this place!!

I have been a steady customer at both WM locations. However, I won't be back to the Southdale location. Covid seems to be an excuse for poor customer service. As a customer, I don't like being yelled across the store for any reason! The Hamilton Road location continues to be a good experience.

Popped in to order takeout, first time here after hearing such awesome things about their philly cheese steak. Walked in, no other customers. Guy at the "order here" counter asked if we've ordered yet. We said no, were asked to move down the counter to another staff member to place our order. The other staff member told us to order ahead and come back an hour later? I understand the strain of COVID on businesses but consistency is key. Trying to support local, but you need to set expectations with customers and have signage indicating the ordering process. We basically felt like our presence was an inconvenience even though they don't tell you how they want you to order on their website or with any signage anywhere in the restaurant.

I had lunch here and it was great! I had a steak shawarma and you can taste the quality of the meat. There's plenty of different types of raw meats available for purchase and if the shawarma is an indication, I'd expect those meats to be great.

Horrible local business. My Mom went in and they sold her the wrong item even after she asked for help. I went back and they wouldn't help me. I called the next day and again he wouldn't help and was very rude for the 3rd time. I will never go back. This is a small buiness and you think they would help and want the business. I try to shop local and support local businesses, but not this one. Word does get around fast.

Great food! Stumbled on this place by accident and I'm glad I did. Full service butcher and deli. Had the Philly Cheese steak sandwich and it was amazing. Heard the burgers are great as well. They also sell organic meat. Try it if you can, you won't be disappointed.

I was a regular at western meats. Great meats everytime and great food in there kitchen. That is until I showed up at 4:45pm when they close at 5:30 clearly stated on their door. I was told kitchen is closed and to call next time. In these times when businesses are struggling it is good to see some can turn customers away, customers they know by name and have been going to them for years. They lost a customer today.

The quality of the meats offered here is superior to most, that I will say. We ordered some sausages and I fried them up Italian style at home! Absolutely delicious! The reason I cannot give 5 stars is due to the counter service as well as the taste of the burger I ordered. The older guy behind the food counter rushed us to order and made it seem like we were inconveniencing him. Maybe that isn't his normal job, maybe he was having a bad day? In addition, it seemed the other guys behind the meat counters were more interested in chatting amongst themselves than serving their customers. Took a few minutes to get served, which shouldn't be happening when the store is empty. The burger I ordered lacked any seasoning. The ground beef was good quality, but it lacked any seasoning whatsoever. Why do places not marinate their meat? The burger would have been delicious if there was even a hint of garlic and additional seasoning in the patty, but alas, not even salt and pepper. In conclusion, their meats are high quality, but they need to season the food offered for sale plus they seriously have to improve their customer service skills!

My first time there, I was truly impressed with the fine meat -- really enjoyed their schnitzel -- and an excellent sandwich that we ordered. We will be back!

Went in as the shop was closing. Staff was extremely friendly. Came away with a perfectly marbled steak. Cooked it sous vide in salt, pepper and garlic powder for an hour and a half and seared right below the flash point for olive oil. Woke up the next morning and cooked up bacon in a single barrel Kentucky bourbon and some light spicing. Best bacon I've ever had, best steak I've had in a long time.
