We received the bacon box with three different kinds of bacon (turkey style, regular back bacon and peameal bacon). The amount of bacon was excellent and we used the bacon for every breakfast, even made bacon sandwiches. The bacon doesn't have that gross gelatinous stuff you get at grocery stores. This is a very high quality meat. The seasoning was light on all the bacon types so that if you are concerned about high sodium, you need not worry here. Great quality stuff!

We have been ordering from truLOCAL since Sept 2017. We were customers of Greg's before he started this company. He convinced us to give him a try and I would never go back. The meat is so good and has so much better flavour than meat from the grocery store. I love that I can pick and choose what I want every 3 weeks. Previously we were spending a ton up front and picking what you wanted to eat for the next 10 months. This way I get to pick what I want each time - if I am having a party I can order extra of something to serve without having to go and buy it at the grocery store. It may be a little more expensive, but there is no wastage of food. Every evening we decide what we want to eat and go defrost it. With the small amounts in each package, I can defrost what I need. I have had nights where we have 2 or 3 different meats done on the BBQ depending on what everyone wants. I will never go back to grocery store meet.

As a holistic nutritionist at The Living Proof Institute, eating meat that comes from animals treated fairly and with respect is highly important (as well as obtaining grass fed beef). The people are truLOCAL are not just your typical staff at a company. They become friends and extended family. For a small company, their customer service is second to none and the products are superior to those in any grocery store. I needed to follow up with the RCMP about this company. What I ordered was a box of meat, what I recieved was something with the addictive qualities of a high grade mexican black tar heroin. In all seriousness though, the meat was excellent. I live in a remote community in Northern BC and getting good quality meat can sometimes be an issue. truLOCAL readily addressed my problem. Logistically, I was impressed that they were able to deliver to my area. Customer service is always excellent and replies speedily. Overall, I would highly recommend this company and their products, particularly the peppered bacon on BC.

Build your own customizable box of frozen local meats (fish) and it's delivered right to your door...dry ice packed so it stays frozen even if you're not home to receive it. I especially like the email reminders that my order is days away from shipping so I change up my box with new products if desired. Received my order two days ago. Last night I put the stewing beef in the fridge to thaw. I woke up this morning to put a stew in the slow cooker and the moment I cut open the package of beef I was hit in the nose with the worst smell of rancid meat I could imagine. Had to through out the rest of the order as there’s no way I can trust that it was good and serve it to my family. Absolutely disgusting. All this during Covid - 19 as well, beyond unacceptable. Constructive feedback from me, I order the salmon burgers, which were delicious, however I would have preferred that the oil that is used for them isn’t canola oil or veg oil, it would be great if the oil used for any kind of sausages or burgers would be olive oil, coconut oil. Also, I am not sure if you guys have pasteurized chicken, however if you do that would great. Got chicken was very good however being pasterised it’s better then Being just organic. We’ve been using Trulocal for almost 3 years now and I can’t see a reason to ever go back to grocery stores for animal meats. The quality of the products are unbeatable and delicious and the delivery monthly to your home is a HUGE time saver. We only go to the grocery store for fresh veggies which helps minimize trips all together. And now they offer veggies and fruit too! I love that they’re all local farmers instead of most products in stores are industrial, factory farmed meats. You can look up the farms and see the suppliers on their website to see how they treat their animals! You also have so much variety in product choices and can change your items in every box each month keeping it new and exciting while cooking new creations at home. And not to mention how affordable it is!! Not once have we ever though we were not getting our value. On top of it all, their customer service is outstanding. I really wanted to love this company and I'm glad I gave it a try. But I cancelled my subscription after the first box. The quality of the product you receive is fine, but I expected better quality (especially the steak) for that price. Mostly, however, it was the seafood that was the biggest overall disappointment. Of course, in Ontario, you don't expect much in the way of "local" seafood. But I was at least expecting the salmon/shrimp/scallops that I ordered to come from BC or the maritimes. I was pretty disappointed to see that the salmon was imported from Seattle, and that the shrimp were shipped over all the way from Spain. Again all these tasted fine, but honestly they were nothing to write home about. Especially not at that cost. I guess if you want the convenience of having food shipped directly to you every month, then it's probably still worth it. If you're looking to be more conscious about eating "local" and want the best quality for your money, stick to your local butcher shop or try buying directly from area farms instead.

Quick, fast, timely delivery. Everything came right on time and when I was expecting it. Some of the products that stand out to me were the boneless pork chops, thick cut bacon and ling cod. The cod, when baked to perfection, slides right off the skin, the thick cut bacon is great on their own or in a breakfast sandwich - I like to cook my bacon to an extra crispiness for maximum flavour and the thickness of the bacon prevents it from being cooked so long that it's paper thin. The pork chops were great, one was more than enough, I made a cumin and curry powder marinade and garnished it with pickled veges and it was the most insane fusion of flavours that I had ever tried. Also the service that I had got from the customer service team was amazing, when I ordered the wrong product they assured me that everything would be okay and helped me to even replace that product with what I had wanted. I will definitely continue to order from trulocal, especially since they are always looking to add new products.

Last year I changed the way I eat. No more processed food, much more protein and leafy green vegetables. It was made so much easier to do this once I learned about truLOCAL. truLOCAL handles the majority of my protein needs, with a wide array of poultry, seafood and red meats(pork too if you eat that). It's so easy and convenient, and the quality of meats is high. I appreciate that the seafood is sustainably caught, the poultry/red meats are from local farms and are clean (no added hormones, antibiotic free). Coming home from a long day of work and my gym the last thing I want to do is go out again, so having a box full of protein waiting at my unit's door is such a relief. I forgot to say how much I appreciate the customer service focus that they have. Their had been issued with delivery in the past under the old carrier, and Irma was amazing in getting it addressed. We love how easy it is to change up our selections for variety, with new selections being added to the line up all the time. Once, while on vacation, we received a message from one of the staff who noticed from our social media posts, that we were away. One of my concerns was that we would see these small gestures go away once the Dragons got on board... They haven't. I was excited to try this out. Who doesn't like Local food! Just got my first box and am a bit disappointed. The inside of the box was quite wet. Didn't see any dry ice but a torn dry ice bag inside a larger plastic bag that was dripping wet, wrapped in brown insulated paper? Salmon was not frozen and other meats were "mostly frozen" except around the perimeter of the portions of meats. Was disappointed to see the chicken breast sizes looked to be the same huge sizes as those that are in the grocery stores and fed with hormones etc... anyhow I had to try... it seemed like a great idea

The ribeyes are absurdly thin. Thinner than any "premium" grocer or butcher I've ever shopped at, and at a very high cost. Burger patties came frozen in a deformed state that made them impossible to cook from frozen. I got a refund on the burgers but it tells you something about the quality control of the supply chain: suppliers don't care. The quality is not there for the price. I thought I was paying for the best meat but in fact it appears that the 3rd party butcher is making the cuts thinner than any reputable operation would even consider that wants repeat business. It's all marketing. I'm very disappointed. The 1 star goes to the responsive customer service. The meat is terrible. Edit: received a partial refund on the meat that did not meet expectations and increasing my rating accordingly for taking responsibility for the problems. The product needs to improve.

The reason I tried TruLocal was because of their association with Weight Watchers. I am a current member, and I love the fact that the products at TruLocal have points values assigned to them. This makes selecting which products to buy easier because it ties in to the plan that I am following. The selection of low points meats is awesome, and I love the flexibility of ordering and swapping out new products to try in each order. I have not been disappointed in anything that I have tried....love, love, the buffalo burgers, and the marinated chicken breasts - they are huge and full of flavor and remain moist and tender.

We've been ordering truLOCAL for a few years now, and I'm always impressed with the entire experience from ordering to delivery! They're always coming out with new products, and everything is high quality and locally sourced which I can feel good about. The Regular Box is really good value, and keeps our deep freezer stocked, so all I have to do is defrost the meat the day of and I'm ready to go. It's so nice not to have to go to the grocery store constantly to buy the protein I need for a recipe. Lastly, their customer service is exceptional! Trulocal! I have to be honest... Until we met Trulocal I was seriously debating going vegan. I recently moved away from my butcher and the nearest grocery store's stock is for lack of better words.. lacking. You must try this meat.....fresh, tastier than at the groceries stores, cooks faster, perfect portions! The burgers are still the size of the buns after being cooked...... Comes right to your door!! Don't worry about it thawing out either.....my husband left the delivery in the foyer, in summer, all night and the meat was still frozen.....the ice had started to melt, not the meat. Love it..

We receive our order every 6 weeks, make changes as we need to and greatly enjoy every package of our choice of meat for the day. Each pack lasts us at least two or more days and that is amazing.
