We have shopped at Trading Post for years, but today we picked up a Tomahawk steak for the BBQ. Perfectly cut, 28 day aged AAA beef was like butter! Amazing steak, thanks for making me a bbq hero!! You've got to try these steaks, good for two hungry people.

Great place to get awesome stuff. Butcher shop cannot be beat for quality meats. Fresh fruits and vegetables, great deli counter, Wine and beer, great frozen items. Tried the ultimate corned beef sandwich, OMG!!, steamed meat, hot mustard, and a soft bun.. felt like it weighed 1lb.. sooo good.

This is THE BEST grocery store in Port Perry for high quality, local and specialty foods. The staff here are amazing, they are pleasant and genuinely seem to enjoy their jobs which makes me even more inclined to support this business. To break things down: The fresh produce selection is always high quality and stocked with local foods first and priced competitively for the quality, local sourcing and their portions which are pretty big. They carry A2 milk from Sheldon Farms. Digestible, humane high quality milk is hard to source (they do have Kawartha dairy products aswell). The butcher is again competitive in pricing and top notch in quality and the staff know their products and are always willing to help. Try their Atlantic Salmon it is the best I have ever cooked. The frozen food selection is of quality that I have never seen for frozen foods aside from White Feather on the other side of Port Perry(same products I think) but TBH I choose to support The Trading Post because of their staff. Enough said. Make sure to pop into the coffee room for a selection of k pods and for Muskoka coffee and other specialty blends. DO grab a bag of Naked everything Bagel Bread on the way out. Delicious. The dehydrated dog bones are the best, they sell raw food aswell and last but not least there is an LCBO kiosk to round out your shopping. The Trading Post is not for your cheap grocery load up's. It is however, for your quality shops but that said the pricing is competitive and I will say even reasonable in comparison to some other local options in the area.

I love this store! Since this entire pandemic began my anxiety of going into public places has become much worse. One day while driving home I decided I would stop and try to go into the store. When I entered the building I was greeted by a smiling face asking if I needed a cart or a basket. She had everything sanitized and even opened the door for me. Inside the store had everything that I needed. The staff were all careful to follow the government guidelines. I will continue to use this as my quickstop for groceries in my way home.

This review is targeted towards the owner(s) of Trading Post. I've broken this review down into 3 categories. 1. Staff/Service - the people who run your store are the main asset. Without these individuals, you will not have a store. EXCELLENT service was displayed by your staff. This was my first visit, and I will definitely come back. Sharon (meat manager) was very patient and informative. She was very welcoming, which is a huge plus. Cashier (Mercedes) took the time and explained the excellent varieties of hot sauce and spices available. She demonstrated great interpersonal skills, which bring customers back. Thank you to both of them. 2. Store variety - you folks have a extensive variety of quality products. I do not have to drive to Toronto to buy my spices and meat rubs anymore. The layout is excellent, and easily accessible. 3. Store freshness/cleanliness - it definitely shows that you take pride in the quality and appearance of your store. This is huge for some customers. On a closing note, as a person of colour, I was reluctant in visiting your store. However, I had such a wonderful experience with your staff and the variety of products which interest me, that I can't wait to get back. Just want to say thank you. This is THE place for kebobs. A friend of mine introduced me to this place after his family has been coming to the trading post for years. Raved about the kebobs, they are amazing! Such great quality meats. It was really nice to see staff at the door sanitizing the carts and baskets for use. Super friendly staff, great selection of so many types of food. It was busy when I went (Friday late morning), it was tough to obey the 6ft rule. Lots of people stocking up for the weekend. Bring a mask to wear if you are concerned about social distancing. Wow! What an assortment of goods! Homemade tzatziki, butter tarts, a million different olives, jarred peppers, olive oils, produce, sea food and sooooo much more! Service was great. Prices are high but when you're buying quality I don't mind paying more. And it's local.

By far one of the best private ownership grocery stores in the GTA. All the fresh meats are top notch and sourced from independant suppliers where quality is the most important quality. Seasonal foods are plenty and local as well helping to push along our local economy. By far one of the best fresh markets in the area, and although the prices may seem higher than your local chain store the quality exceeds most expectations. Trading Post also has one of the best selection of in house spices and sauces as well as well known brands and small batch producers. It's phenomenal to see that the smaller stores are still able to compete and carry a consistent client base with what they sell and how they sell it, definitely a business model to work off of. Keep up the amazing work in keeping Ontario food available to those in Ontario specifically in the northern GTA!

We won't be shopping here again during the pandemic. The store was over crowded and not only can you not social distance from other customers, the staff is constantly walking right beside you giving you no space at all. The prices were fair for certain items and inflated for other items. The landscaping outside was beautiful.

They have a great selection of frozen food and fresh. Prices are reasonable as well. They also have a butcher shop area where they have fresh meat available. They started selling beer recently as well with a number of local choices available. They are mostly craft beers. They have plenty of parking.

Nice spot for picking up some last minute food items on the way to the cottage. Quite the variety of items are available, but what I mainly shop here for are the selection of meats for smoking/grilling. The cheeses, jerky, desserts, etc are pretty good too. They are also licensed to sell liquor, which is a huge plus as well. Only caveat is that the ailes here are small, so distancing can be a challenge at times, but people have been courteous and we all make do.

I've been missing daytripping during the pandemic, so when hubby and I drove by this place while in the area for work, we were excited to drop in. What a fun food market! We picked up jalapeno jelly, garlic Parmesan bread ripper, and fruit-laden Chelsea buns. If I find myself back in the area, I will return for sure!

Thank you guys for being friendly. Not so many places will tell you don't rush when you jump in 5 minutes before closing time...and for me it most common situation as I get there on a way home after close my store in Markham. Probably it's not so perfect set for distance in meat area but in same time you not feel pressure and get fresh produce. I see some complain about frozen food and it makes me wonder if this people complain when they get same from big chains. Could be way more nice to call and say that wasn't the best and small business might choose other suppliers then.

We stop in here about once a month, more frequently in the summer when we are heading north. Well worth the stop. Meat counter is really good with regular cuts and some prepared items that are ready to throw on the bbq. Some frozen meat such as buffalo etc is also available. Limited selection of other grocery items, milk, dressing etc so you'll still need to stop at a full sized store. Place is very clean. Staff is all very helpful and friendly. We sometimes get the corned beef on a bun. Good deal at $5 and it comes with a dill pickle. Large enough that we split one between us. They have picnic tables outside but nowhere to eat inside. We also get the cheese curds to snack on in the car. Really good.

Was there today and was shocked to see none of the cashiers were wearing gloves or masks . The Plexiglas only covered the cash register not the cashier When I questioned it she said it was their choice!!! . It is our choice to go there or not !!!!There is hardly any room to keep 6 ft apart .The only safe thing is the girl on the door who wipes the handles down on the carts. II will not go there until this is over and I will deter any one else from going.I can only hope these girls stay safe

We come here every 2-3 months for meat and veggies. We buy meat in bulk and the pricing is what you'd expect for Ontario grown beef/chicken that's individually vacuum sealed by piece or pound. Great quality and always tasty when cooked. We love it and enjoy the trip up from pickering every time. The only reason why they have one less star is that the butcher shop staff sometimes don't wear gloves. Some do, but some don't. Our last trip up they were grabbing our steaks with their bare hands.... I'm sorry but that is pretty nasty. Touching countertops, bags, butcher paper and then our meat. My wife was very turned off. Especially since we're in a pandemic. Put some gloves on please!! They aren't cheap, and if you need a supplier I know a few. Otherwise great place to stock up! 4 stars ????

Physical distancing fail here. Started great, cleaning carts and baskets, controlled entry. When we got to the big meat counter to order steaks it was a free for all. People pushing past you, little or no distancing. They need traffic control at the start of that meat counter, some arrows on the floor and a few less people in the store. Service is great and fast there is no reason to be in a hurry and pushing past each other. Big fail trading post, it's your responsibility to set your store up better than this. Hope no one dies because of this.

The current version of the trading Post is a far cry from what it once was some 20 plus years ago. My first visit there was, how could I put this, was less than memorable as the place, in my opinion, was a dump and only had a miniscule fraction of what it now has today, and the vast majority of the building was cluttered with junky "antiques" and one Cowboy Steak display . In the 17 years between visits it has completely changed. I was absolutely blown away at the breadth of high quality products they now have, and have gone back a multitude of times even though it is 50 kilometers out of the way from my regular shopping patterns. Kudos to whomever initiated the improvements and changes and building expansions. Keep up the great work.

A very exciting grocery store! Has a lot more variety than your average chain grocery store. Their wall of hot sauces are definitely better than the ones you would get at a Walmart or Longos. They also have a larger variety of jams, jellies, and other fun sorts of items. Not to mention their extensive frozen foods, deli, and they sell alcohol. Definitely a good one stop shop.

We are lucky to have the Trading Post nearby. Our family regularly shops at the Trading Post. Great staff especially at the meat/butcher counter. Veggies are so good, meat is incredible. We love the ribeye steaks, the stuffed pork and the chicken. Also buy our dog raw food and bones here. Their salmon is yummy and so are their sauces, spices, pickles and sauerkraut. We find their prices good especially for the quality. I love that Trading Post offers a lot of local Ontario food!

Zero stars for this establishment. They have gone from my favourite place to my least. Total disrespect for customer and community health by their blatant disregard for physical distancing in their store. They've been at this during the pandemic long enough to know there is ususally going to be a frenzy around their meat counter and they do nothing about it. So sad they care so much more about money than their community. Go to Herrington's Butcher instead where they are very diligent and caring about customer health and experience.

We decided to give this place a try instead of hitting white feather farms and I purchased 3 different baked good items. The apple strudel was soggy and the filling was nothing special and the fritters were dry and lacked any kind of flavour. However, the bagels were fantastic. Maybe just steer clear of the baked desserts.

I like the selection and quality of the food here, however shopping here always seems to be a hassle and stressful. The control entrance (covid) is great however you do walk right passed the cashier and exit. The store seemed to be jammed packed while I was there and others not caring about social distancing or anything. Most places will have aisles marked one way or the other but this place does not. In sort good quality of food low quality in customers

I’d call the Trading Post foodtainment...beautiful wood building with lots of interesting food inside. It’s just fun to go. Lots of prepared foods which is nice, different items you wouldn’t find at the major grocery stores. Excellent meat counter with prepared kebabs and other grill ready options. Decent fish and seafood assortment, often with wild caught salmon that you can’t find elsewhere. A ton of cheeses and other dairy to pick from. And best of all....wine and beer. !!! What’s not to like ??

Overall really great. Prices are decent, butcher counter is wonderful. I only gave a 4 out of 5 due to the fact that they don’t have buggies with the designated area for children to sit. It’s quite challenging pushing the buggy and holding onto a baby. Understandable, they don’t have a lot of room to have buggies with the child designated area, but they could have 1 or 2.

This place is absolutely amazing!! We ordered the freezer pack 1 and substituted out the beef items (we don't eat beef). It was so easy to order over the phone and make substitutions. They called me when it was ready, which was with a day or two. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Everything is nicely wrapped, portions and labeled for you. I don't think I will be purchasing meat anywhere else!

I love this place. If you want to physically see yeti products but don't want to buy from big brands like SportChek who up the price, this place has a lot. Great selection of teas, coffees, fresh meat, fresh cheeses, beer, produce and so much more! I wish it was closer to home because I'd be here rather than a Walmart. So beautiful and perfect

We went to check out Trading Post because we've heard great things about the corned beef sandwiches. I was so surprised to walk in and see a clean, functional grocery store, with the bonus of wine & beer! As for the corned beef sandwich, it was delicious! Our picky eating little 5 year old ate the ENTIRE GIANT SANDWICH because she loved it so much!

Again what a great place to visit by from variety of selection stop always Pleasant polite professional. I got pictures of their new extension that are also adding on to the back of place will soon become huge looking forward to it I live in Oshawa but I find myself driving out here with my wife meat department is awesome are sandwiches are awesome reflection is awesome pricing can be a little higher than what I find in a normal chain grocery store bought overall still worth it. Also the store support local and Ontario Farms which is a priority right now.

Deli counter corner beef on a bun can't be beat $5 Tastey large mound of a sandwich without fail. I A special treat shopping here. Meat Dept preseasoned products make you look polished when you serve them. A store to find a cornucopia of sauces, seasonings, mixes, condiments and preserves for any chef wanting an unique signature ingredient. LCBO in-store and large selection of premade store made /sourced frozen food especially fish.

This was my first time visiting and I was blown away with the overwhelming selection of specialty items. So many inviting items. There are fresh and frozen seafood for example feta and spinach stuffed salmon, fresh meats and again frozen, sauces, aiolis, seasonings, the list goes on and on. We found one of our favorites brands Stonewall Kitchens that we couldn't find anywhere else. There's a bakery section and fresh produce as well. We also bought oysters for$.99/each and we chucked oysters for the first time. Strip loin steaks area to die for. Will definitely come back.
